"Bay Area diners have gotten so xiao long bao–obsessed that you’ll now find the soup dumplings at dim sum parlors and all kinds of other Chinese restaurants that have no affiliation with the Shanghai region from which they originate. Din Ding isn’t strictly a Shanghainese restaurant either, but it qualifies as a specialist: The handmade XLB here have delicate wrappers that bulge and jiggle from the juices contained within. It’s no wonder, then, that dumpling lovers from miles away make the pilgrimage, especially on the weekend." - Dianne de Guzman, Momo Chang, Eater Staff

This restaurant with a decent ambience in Fremont serves authentic Chinese cuisine. Despite being a spacious place, there was a crowd waiting to be seated so prior booking is recommended. One places orders here by ticking off on a printed menu list and handing it over to the hostess. The dishes are served very hot, typical of this type of cuisine and in quick succession with a ticking off of the dish that has been served. We had a combination of vegetable starters such as garlic spinach and mushrooms in vinegar, spicy noodles soup and a few meat dishes including dumplings and chicken wings. The service was very quick and efficient, the dishes not too spicy and authentic. If you are in the area and are desirous of having authentic Chinese cuisine, this could be a place to visit

Tried and really enjoyed the below items at Ding Ding Dumpling house Fremont - Wood Ear Mushroom Salad - Pork Soup dumplings - Sautéed Spinach - Chicken wings - Beef Brisket noodle soup - Cumin Beef Noodles Good spot for dumplings and noodles. Food can be a bit greasy .. so bear that in mind and balance the noodles with sauteed veggies.

Great food at a good price, the restaurant also has a nice atmosphere to it. It can get pretty busy during dinner, but nothing too crazy. I recommend their Fried Rice and String Bean dishes. Although the trophy goes to the Chocolate Xiao Long Bao! Highly recommend it!

Nicer and cleaner than their old Fremont location. The Ma La’ spices that has a numb feeling aftertaste’ starter side is much tastier than the diced potatoes served in the old location. Sweet and sour Cucumber appetizer was ok, kind of bland. The XLB is good, dumpling wrapper is on the chewy side. They totally forgot to give us the shredded ginger that goes with the vinegar. Something that never happened at a XLB place. The braised Beef Brisket noodle soup is good but broth is on the light side, not as concentrated as the Taiwanese Beef Noodle soup. Piggy custard Bao, very chewy and doughy. cute little pig though. Updated: leftover XLB has small bone fractures in the filling. Maybe just a bad batch.

We went here on the weekend for late lunch. The place wasn't crowded. The decor is nice however it needs more attention like the table wasn't wiped clean or when they gave ginger, the bowl wasn't clean from outside. We had Shrimp Toast, which was interesting. My husband liked it. Korean sprouts dumplings and vegetable buns were okay. There are vegetarian options available but definitely more choices would be great to have.

Din Ding Dumpling is a fantastic spot for anyone craving authentic and delicious dumplings. The food was incredibly fresh and flavorful, leaving a lasting impression. The portions were generous, making it great value for money. They also offer excellent vegetarian options, which is a huge plus for those seeking meat-free dishes without compromising on taste. The service was excellent—friendly and efficient staff ensured a smooth dining experience. The cleanliness of the restaurant further added to the overall appeal, creating a welcoming atmosphere. If you’re looking for a place that delivers on taste, quality, and variety, Din Ding Dumpling is a must-try! Highly recommended!

Fast service. Be ready for your food to come quickly. Everything was very tasty. Favorite dishes: XLB, fried string beans with pork and surprisingly the scallop fried rice. It has masago mixed in. Will definitely be back.

Din Ding just opened their new location in Fremont, and I’ve been wanting to try it all this time — and it finally came true last Friday when I went to go have it with my parents! Such a staple place coming here — and it means that one would not have to drive as far as Union City just for good quality XLB that hits just as equally as Din Tai Fung. Though my experience was great, there are, obviously, some caveats and some things that could have been prevented from happening throughout my still great experience. However, let me save that for the descriptive parts of this review, which will reveal for themselves at a later time. Here’s my experience about the whole time: I love the modern chic of the restaurant — it was giving VERY vibrant and I loved the color scheme that it was alluding. Very high, very open — except the entrance was certainly not the case. It was very confusing to know which one the entrance REALLY was, honestly, and that threw me off guard to be quite fair. As we were seated we were given hot water instead of tea. Hmm weird -- but also we had asked for it, so no complaining that much anyhow. Here’s where the foodie brains come in:

The crab XLB was honestly very juicy, and very filling. That was by far the most that I’ve ever eaten in one sitting — like at least three or four of them I gulped down. The soup, on the other hand, was barely salted, and it tasted hella bland. The only reason I put so much was because it wouldn’t seem like it if it was actually the case. The fried rice was a little bit too oily - but seasoned just right to make it taste with consistency. The hospitality felt a little rushed — and at first sight, we were given the wrong dishes — we were like “what was going on?” But they quickly corrected themselves and handled their demeanor with professionalism. It also contributed to the atmosphere feeling very tense on a Friday night too, so perhaps that was also the reason why. I’d definitely go back to this location forsure, to try more new dishes once again! But with different selections.
