Houston’s Newest Taiwanese Teahouse Expands to Katy | Eater Houston

"A 15-year-old Taiwanese-born boba chain that operates more than 350 locations across Asia and has U.S. outposts in Southern California and Las Vegas is opening its second Houston shop by early–mid October at 23227 Mercantile Parkway, Suite A3 in Katy. The menu emphasizes shakeable milk teas with flavors such as matcha, oolong, winter melon, and taro, and highlights the best-selling “Monster” brown sugar boba alongside fruit-forward options like red guava, lychee, and strawberry yogurt. After debuting its first Houston location this spring in Chinatown, the new Katy store continues local touches such as printing chosen emojis, pictures, and short poems on drink lids." - Tierney Plumb

I was in need of a quick drink to grab along with some takeout in the Katy Texas area after rock climbing. This place is right next to a great rock climbing gym and had a high rating on Google so I decided to try it out. The seating area was super cute and had Halloween decorations in addition to ample seating. I got a lychee milk tea with signature Boba and asked for less sweetness. The taste of the drink was perfect and it was not overly sweet. The signature Boba were golden and had a subtle toasted taste to them. I would definitely come back after rock climbing in the area to try some more tea flavors 🍵

Google
Today I tried Signature Milk Tea with cheese foam. And let me tell you, it’s not just good. It’s next-level. The tea itself is perfectly balanced—smooth, fragrant, and not overly sweet. The cheese foam is very Rich and just the right hint of saltiness to elevate every sip. It’s like a creamy cloud floating atop your drink, and I genuinely haven’t found a better version anywhere else in Katy.I’ve tried cheese foam from all the big names, but Ding Tea’s hits different.love this place so much

We had our first date here and now we’re getting married! There are games that can keep your outing going and fun. With seasonal drinks, the staff is always having fun creating new drinks. Want to take a cute photo? There’s a photo booth spot! With a swing or a seasonally decorated bench. My favorite drink? The monster boba. We love the watermelon flavor in the summer and the PSL in autumn. Thank you to Ding Tea for being our favorite spot! P.s. would love a vegetarian option for a snack.

Google
I always come to Ding Tea for the best boba!! I always get a taro slush and jelly and it's always delicious! The selection of games and a cute photo area is phenomenal! They have delicious flavors, hot, cold, slush, boba, whatever you like!

Jacob C.

Google
I’ve been coming to Ding tea as my preferred boba shop for years! I’ve always had a good experience and great interactions with the team even when it is busy. Every time I come in to the store I am welcomed by name and that warms my heart. They have taken my recommendations as a customer as well, when they changed their Cajun fries a couple years ago it just wasn’t as good and they were open to the feedback and changed it again to find a better solution! My favorite drinks are the strawberry lemon green tea and the Hokkaido oolong milk tea! Thank you ding tea!

Google
I'm obsessed with Ding Tea! 🤩 Their tea selection is insane and their treats are to die for 🍰👀. But what really sets them apart is their staff - they're literally the friendliest people ever 😊. Always smiling and making sure you have everything you need. I've been going there for a while now and it never fails to put a smile on my face. Highly recommend trying their signature drinks and pairing them with one (or two, or three...) of their yummy treats 🍰👌. 5 stars isn't enough, I'd give 'em 10 if I could ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Google
I love love love this place!! I’ve been coming here for years and the staff is so friendly. They always remember me and my order, and are so happy to greet me when I walk in the door. The atmosphere is calm, comfy, and welcoming. It’s a fantastic place to spend an afternoon with friends or family.

Meera G.

Google
My absolute favorite boba store! I get the honey milk tea with Jasmin green tea, I promise you it is one of the best drinks you will try. I have it on a daily basis! And the service is so great Nathan, Tina, Jax, and so on have been so lovely. You must try it! You will not regret it.
google avatar

Tiffany J.

Yelp
My daughter's all time favorite boba place (and also mine). Their boba always tests perfectly bouncy and freshly made, and the tea never disappoints. I've only had my drink made wrong once, and Jax ran out to give me my ordered drink. Great group of people working there, the Christmas ambiance is perfect, and my daughter tells me it's a great place for studying

Yelp
Service at Ding Tea was fast. The space is clean and open. We ordered the Winter Melon Milk Tea and it is superb. I didn't have milk tea my entire pregnancy, and this one made up for every missed sip. The flavor is rich and balanced and the boba is fresh and chewy. Nothing watered down like you get at other spots. We loved it so much, we came back two days in a row. Even my husband, a Thai tea lover, was hooked.
google avatar

Strong T.

Yelp
Very good Taro slush at 25% sweetness--perfect level of sweetness. I wish it had more Taro, but it was refreshing on a hot day.
google avatar

Andrew W.

Yelp
First time coming here! I got to try peach yakult with 50% sweetness and golden boba! To me, it was still sweet but enjoyable! I'll try 25% sweetness with passion fruit yakult next time when I visit here! I like the vibe and friendly service! :) Good friends time are guaranteed Cheers
google avatar

Iliana D.

Yelp
The best Boba tea in Houston everrrr!!! Love the friendly service!! And the aesthetic of the shop is so cozyyyy!!!
google avatar

Susan C.

Yelp
Consistently good and always delicious. Out of all the bubble tea places in Katy Asian Town, Ding Tea is one of my favorites. You know what you're going to get and it tastes the same, time after time. They also do random bonuses/rewards throughout the year - always a plus! Their signature golden boba is also a must...
google avatar

Bobby Y.

Yelp
The fruit drinks were decent. I felt that the flavor and aroma of the tea with the fruit could be more harmonious.
google avatar

Kayla T.

Yelp
My all time favorite boba shop in the Katy asian town. The staff here is has amazing service and they're so kind. They make their drinks efficiently and never disappoints. I come here about once to twice a week for their signature milk tea with golden boba, they also have a rewards system!
google avatar

Christopher C.

Yelp
I visited this location and ordered the mango milk tea with boba. The aesthetic is nice with great lighting and I was greeted by nice employees. However, the mango milk tea was a bit sour and I think it could've been better.
google avatar

Thea W.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to check out Ding Tea and it didn't disappoint! It is so cute inside it even has a little swing for those insta photo oops. The workers were fast and really nice!
google avatar

Verna N.

Yelp
This is my go-to for boba when I'm in Katy. The drinks are delicious and I've never had a drink I didn't like. The service is quick and attentive. They will recommend drinks if you're not sure what to get. It does get crowded sometimes with the nearby college kids studying or hanging out inside in the evenings. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Elnara K.

Yelp
Pretty good. I like my Thai Tea creamy so I asked for extra creamer. Still could use a bit more but it's tasty.

Mackenzie C.

Yelp
Great food and great customer service, will be returning! if you're looking for recommendations definitely order the popcorn chicken!
google avatar

Evelyn L.

Yelp
Let me first say that the honey boba was super good. I usually get the regular boba but I'm happy I switched it up. However, it was pretty pricey for the amount you get. I asked for less ice but I feel like that's the opposite what I got. $5.68 for a small is a lot compared to the other tea houses in the area.
google avatar

Jazmine H.

Yelp
New fave boba spot. Hubby got the mango milk tea & I got peach green tea. Both drinks really good, you could tell the tea is authentic. Quick service & cute decor. Recommend!

Jack Z.

Yelp
Its a nice atmosphere w great music and one of the best boba around. a regular spot for me and my friends
google avatar

Tiffini D.

Yelp
They didn't have to do it but they did it! The Hokkaido oolong milk tea has been my go to, a smooth tasting tea with a caramel flavor. It was powdered but the flavors were there. But recently they decided to no longer use powder but a fresh caramel drizzle. This is not helping my addiction but I appreciate a business that continues to innovate and improve upon their recipes. So good!
google avatar

Man N.

Yelp
good atmosphere, not too busy. love the egg chair swing. Fast wifi. fast service. price range from $5-$8 a drink
google avatar

Irene T.

Yelp
Very cute decor and super clean bathrooms with two stalls. The drinks are pretty good but honestly I really, really like that they allow you to adjust sweetness level even on drinks like taro milk!! They also have Wi-Fi and a good number of little tables and some of them have outlets so I'm not sure if they have electricity or not because I didn't try it... sorry! They don't serve food tho, only drinks.

Cassidy S.

Yelp
I like the bright, simple, clean look of Ding Tea. And the dalgona coffee milk tea is very yummy. I think it would be a great spot to study. I was here with my family the other day and we enjoyed playing with the Jenga blocks and board games they keep on a shelf for their customers. I thought the (baristas?) were very friendly too! I plan to come back regularly! :)
google avatar

Celine H.

Yelp
Didcha and Nathan are cool af. They were thorough in explaining sizes and specials of the day. The place was also clean ash
google avatar

Jo S.

Yelp
Awesome place and the staff is so friendly. I love to get my boba here and nowhere else!
google avatar

Khanh V.

Yelp
Signature milk tea with golden boba. Tea here always good for real :) 30 mins driving away but I will try to come back for sure

Yelp
If I was a Klingon I would rather go to KLING TEA Or if I was Merciless I'd rather go to MING TEA Or if I was Indian then I might go to SINGH TEA But I'm none of those 3 things so I just come to DING TEA If I broke my arm then I would come here with a SLING TEA If I was on mIRC I'd know how to PING TEA When I'm in Nevada I might see Carmella BING TEA But when I'm in Katy I come straight on down to DING TEA WHAT The milk teas here are crispy and perfect, especially the Brown Sugar one. The fruit teas are hyper sweet, but if you get them less sugary, they're good. I appreciate the Pineapple and Strawberry ones, but the Milk Teas are my personal way to go here. The real highlight of the place is probably the golden Boba. Juicy golden bubbles, which is probably the first ever non-black tapioca that actually tastes really good. Usually non-black boba is iffy. Another example is OneZo in Canada which is also great at multi-coloured tapioca. However I do have issues with this location. On the one hand I like Ding Tea and I think they have good products and decent prices. And the decor at this one is absolutely lovely. It's a shame it's so quiet - I've noticed that about most Katy boba shops, partly because there are now so many of them that there doesn't seem to be the level of business to support them. But it's a nice shop, good products, very well decorated, and lovely for Katy Asian Town to have a Ding over here, in a corner of the shopping area that doesn't have as many Boba options as the H-Mart section. On the other hand, we didn't have the best experience here. The drinks were good, and the tapioca was nice as usual - their Golden Boba is magical - but they do refuse to put the boba on the side here. It's just a policy that this store will not put it on the side... they can put it in your drink, but not on the side. Kung Fu Tea (Chinatown/Montrose/Midtown) is the only other Boba shop in Greater Houston that has ever refused to do that for me. Oh, and the new Xing Fu Tang also. That is a big problem for us, because we usually buy too many boba drinks from too many places, mostly for later, and then take it home and then have it 4, 6, 8 hours later, and we love the tapioca, but only if it's kept on the side and then popped into the drink when it's ready to drink, otherwise it gets really chalky and gross. Ding Tea tapioca is wonderful, and it can last 12 hours and still be good. But as I said, she wouldn't sell me a side of Boba unless I agreed to let her put it right in my drink. To me that kind of policy is borderline ridiculous, it's her store and her prerogative and her choice, but it's the reason we're not regular customers, there are several other Dings in HTX, all of which will do that upon request, the DFW ones are fine with it too, just not here. I know they have their reasons and will defend their decision until the cows reach their place of origin, but really, I'm buying a product (a 5 dollar product that costs under 50 cents in cost value), and if I want my tapioca on the side for later then it shouldn't be a big problem. So for this reason they get 4 instead of 5, when otherwise it would score 5. But I still recommend trying this place for sure, as well as the excellent Sugar Land location and others. And if you have to let it Linger come on down to LING TEA If you love to eat dem pringles bring them down to PRING TEA If you are a gringo then instead just go to GRING TEA But if you're 75% Boba then come to DING TEA If you're Wayne and Garth then instead you should go to SCHWING TEA If your day hinges upon good boba, go to HING TEA And if you are Jamaican or Barbadan, here's the TING TEA You must come and try delicious Boba here at DING TEA WHAT

Yelp
Really nice place - decor is beautiful. Service is great. Loved my jasmine iced tea with cream cheese top!
google avatar

Cyndie T.

Yelp
Got drinks for me and my daughter. My son wanted mine. He really liked it. Really good tea and juice. Super friendly customer service. The guy was so nice at the cashier who took our orders. Very beautiful place and atmosphere. Not too cramps compared to other coffee places.
google avatar

Sophie S.

Yelp
Drinks are okay. If they don't do anything special, I don't think they can beat many better places in the area. Girls that do drinks should be more welcoming and at least say thank you to customers. Just saying.
google avatar

Kristy S.

Yelp
Cute place for some pics. Nice friendly service. Drinks are good-- I got the Hokkaido milk tea with coffee jelly and 25% sugar. It was perfect. Not a big menu but sufficient for my taste.
google avatar

Vanesa V.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. The girl could not comprehend the drink I was trying to order. And I thought she finally understood what I wanted when she put my order in but when it came out it was wrong and then she claimed she couldn't make it like that. Drink I got sucked. Oolong milk tea. Tasted so watered down even though I got little ice. Would not come back here again. There are much better boba options nearby.

Yelp
Grand opening day today. Expecting to get a BOGO since it says BOGO Nov 2 - 3. When we arrived, we got two drinks for free (first 50 customers get a free drink excluding tax). Adding on, I was very happy that they were giving away these cute colorful boba keychains (came in 4 colors) for every drink given out, while supplies last. I asked if I could purchase two more, since we only bought two drinks, and since I wanted to get all four. They told me that in order to get two more of the other colors of keychains, I needed to go purchase two more drinks. So then I got two more drinks, but they charged me full price for it. I wasn't sure what kind of promotion they were doing, as they were trying to explain to us first few get drinks for free, but after 50 people then it's BOGO? Either way, I paid full price for two drinks just to get the other two keychains, which wasn't fair because it was considered to be BOGO after 50 people. I left with a bad taste in my mouth, and made me not feel good as a customer. I probably won't be returning as there a lot of other boba places in the plaza. Drinks 6/10 - Monster Bobo Latte: tastes just like a tiger milk boba from other places, boba is small and hard. I felt like the boba isn't fully cooked. 2/10 - Strawberry Yakult/Yogurt: waaaaaay tooo sweet. Tastes like something artificial. I don't recommend even though they have it listed in top 10. 2/10 - Mango Yakult/Yogurt: very sweet as well. I can not determine if the drink taste good or not. Most likely will not get it again. 7/10 - Jasmine Milk Green Tea: if you've had this drink at tapioca house, it has a similar taste. 8/10. TDLR; First impression is everything. The first two drinks we got were free (first 50 customers) and the second purchase we did, we didn't get bogo, but got charged full price for two drinks. Don't order Yakult drinks, too sweet.
google avatar

Eliza L.

Yelp
One of my favorite drinks here. Large Strawberry Yakult $4.55. Love this drink. So refreshing and light. You can taste the tiny chop up bits of strawberries.
google avatar

Fazley R.

Yelp
Very solid tapioca/bubble tea spot that I don't have to trek all the way to Bellaire/Beltway 8 for. I have almost tried every drink on the menu and have not been let down. Continue the great work and we will continue to visit.
google avatar

Rose L.

Yelp
Been here a couple times during my rotation and it's just not good as it used to be anymore. Drinks aren't as creamy and lack freshness of the tea. Really disappointed as it used to be on my top 3 list of favorite boba places when people ask me where to go.
google avatar

jan m.

Yelp
During pandemic time it's hard for all hence we take turns patronizing local businesses and tip on to go orders etc. However It doesn't mean having a bad attitude is normalized. The older lady behind the counter was very curt and extremely short when explaining that this baba latte is supposed to taste like water bc there's no coffee or tea in it lol!! And Pointed to the sign that has a pic of this drink and said it's explained on it. Ummm it does not but there's 10 other shops within a few hundred feet that will act like they care...
google avatar

Thien N.

Yelp
This Ding Tea location has nice decor. I ordered a large winter melon milk tea with 50% sugar however the drink is extremely sweet and I can't even taste the tea flavor in it. I would not recommend it.
google avatar

Ethan B.

Yelp
I love the tea here! As well as its nice cozy atmosphere. And the service was impeccable!
google avatar

Heidi S.

Yelp
This place is freaking adorable. I love the atmosphere and customer service as well. I got the Thai tea and my hubby got the taro tea. The Thai tea is ok but I think it's too creamy like they put too much milk or creamer. I like my Thai tea Stronger. The taro tea was perfect though
google avatar

Jason Z.

Yelp
Now that we've been on the Ding Tea train over the Sharetea location, we went back again to try out some new drinks and got the Matcha milk tea and Jasmine green milk tea. The matcha tea was good but they got my order wrong with the sugar level so it was really freaking sweet. There was no one else inside again so I'm not sure how she messed up the order since there was really no hurry. On a side note, we did not get toppings and we got these freaking small, flimsy straws. They literally fell apart while unwrapping the wrapper. For $5 drinks, I expect at least the tea place give you a nice quality cup and don't give you crap straws. We actually ended up going to Chick fil a after and got straws there. Kinda sad

Nour B.

Yelp
Best boba place in all of Houston!! The Dalgona Latte is amazing with oatmilk !! :-) nice they have that option here. Ambiance is so pretty & clean!!
google avatar

Anh L.

Yelp
Another addition to the ever expanding katy asian centre, Ding Tea is a very cutely adorned tapioca spot with plenty of tables to get some work done and non-distracting surrounding. I love the white walls and minimal adornments and cute hanging chair in the corner. Service was friendly and the area was clean. I ordered the PASSIONFRUIT YOGURT and the OOLONG MILK TEA. The passionfruit yogurt wasn't overly sweet and had a good slushy like consistency, but creamier. I really like the mix of the passionfruit flavor and milk. The oolong milk tea wasn't overly sweet either and the flavor was smooth, but not entirely my favorite oolong flavor. It was milky and did not have that aromatic oolong flavor that I love, definitely more milk than tea flavor. I would come here again. It's really cute and the drinks are good. Overall, 3.5 stars.
google avatar

Anh M.

Yelp
The drinks are AMAZING. I got monster boba latte and asked for less sugar. My friend also got Strawberry Yogurt. I read many reviews said that drink was so sweet but for me it's good! It doesn't sweet at all. Everyone worked there was so nice. I love the customer service and the drinks are just mind blowing. I'll give 10/10 I love the decorations, it brings me a coffee shop vibe more than just a take out boba shop. Overall. I'll definitely comeback and recommend it to my friends!
google avatar

Lily N.

Yelp
I am back again. I think I'm addicted to the wintermelon milk tea. Place is empty every time I come and drinks are made very fast.
google avatar

Yelp
My new fave boba place in the Katy Chinatown area~ It lived up to my excitement for this location! I was also surprised it was as good as Ding tea in Garland, TX compared to the ones in Pearland and Bellaire. The interior design gave me a homey feeling and a great place to catch up with your friends/family or have a boba date ;) In my opinion, all of the drinks that I tried so far since the grand opening were AMAZING (10/10)! 1. Monster boba latte - came with black boba and it was fresh and chewy 2. Taro milk tea - did not taste artificial. Love it! 3. Oolong milk tea - It was unique and good. I don't think I am an oolong tea person haha 4. Brown sugar milk tea - YUMMMM 5. Grapefruit green tea, passion fruit green tea, and kumquat lemon iced tea - taste very refreshing and I love them all Thank you for the cute keychain with the "Ding Tea Katy" on it! The grand opening and BOGO were worth it! Can't wait to come back to try out more drinks!
google avatar

Kristina A.

Yelp
I've tried quite a few drinks from the menu and I'm not disappointed. I love the vibe in this place too! Seating is cute and open area if you want to stand. The staff is always knowledgeable about the menu and makes great recommendations of new drinks to try. Monster boba is a favorite but their others do not disappoint. Love the boba and texture.
google avatar

Julianne T.

Yelp
I have been to the one in Bellaire but sometimes I want boba without the hassle of driving 45 min (,: I am glad that Katy has opened up a Ding Tea! When I was at the Bellaire location, I tried their brown sugar boba and it was soo good! The boba was still warm, not too sweet, and cooked perfectly. This time in Katy, I wanted some place to study so I chose to come in on a Friday. Not to busy at all and plenty of seating with a ton of outlets. I opted for the Peach Yakult and it was sooo good! You can't change the amount of sweetness or ice but it wasn't too sweet anyways. I thought it was super refreshing especially while it's still hot out. The only thing that I was kinda sad about was that the drink didn't come in a clear cup lol my drink looked like it was a hot drink but that was my only con. I would definitely come visit Katy's Ding Tea if Bellaire is too far and if you ever need to get away from home to study/work!
google avatar

Nabeel A.

Yelp
Overall ding tea is great. I ordered their #1 drink since this was my first time here so i went with something I'm used to. I ordered their signature milk boba tea with lychee jelly. It was great but nothing over the top. Interior asthmatics were cute--there was a white Christmas tree and a hanging seat.
google avatar

Riya M.

Yelp
this new lil boba spot is taking over Htown with their beautiful and delicious boba drinks. A great place to unwind and enjoy some authentic Taiwanese boba tea. With 2 locations in Katy's Chinatown and Bellaire, be sure to check them out to satisfy your boba craving I loved the mango green tea w/ rainbow jelly and the monster boba latte , would highly recommend!! Please be sure to follow @riyas.ravishing.eats on Instagram.
google avatar

Triet L.

Yelp
I actually love the bobo latte (which is one of their signature drinks) at this location the most. I can taste the brown sugar a bit burnt which it's supposed to be. The store is super clean and the staffs are friendly also. They also have board games for you to play with friends. Will definitely come back!

Ea A.

Yelp
Friendly staff, nice place to get some work done and the drink was Good, but a bit expensive (around $8.50)
