The Best Side Dishes to Bring to a Barbecue, According to Eater Editors | Eater

"A Rochester barbecue institution whose cookbook includes a honey hush cornbread recipe that’s an embarrassingly easy cookout staple: just-right in texture (not too dense, not too light), mildly sweet without being cloying, and a reliable partner for anything off the grill. The finishing move—brushing the top with honey immediately after it comes out of the oven—is essential, and using a chile-infused honey will add a pleasant spicy-sweet kick." - Eater Staff

This is a great place for BBQ and delicious sides. We stopped here for dinner toward the end of the evening. We ordered different meals with different sides. All of the portions were generous and provided more than enough to share. Even the kids meals were large - one main and two sides. The pulled pork, brisket, ribs and chicken wings were great. The sides were all good too - mac and cheese, greens and smoked turkey, mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is fun. Be prepared to wait for a table, or make a reservation a few days in advance. There is street parking nearby. They also offer takeout.

Google
the food was so good! the portion sizes were great for the cost. the pork belly was definitely the star of the show. the mac & cheese was also delicious! i wish i could order a whole plate of that. we didn’t have a reservation and there was only about a 25 minute wait at prime dinner time on a Saturday night. the staff are all very nice and quick to tend to you!

Went with a group and split one of the family-style BBQ spreads, plenty of food and everything was delicious. The ribs, pulled pork, chicken, brisket, and sides were all solid. It’s a spot I’ve been coming to for years and definitely plan to keep coming back to. The outdoor seating is great when the weather’s nice, and while it’s always busy, the energy is part of the experience. A Rochester staple for a reason.

This is one of my favorite places. Nothing fancy. Just a good ole boy feeling. Today was my brother’s birthday and I asked where he wanted to go. We don’t get here often but when we do it’s always great. We started off with a few bloody Mary’s. Celery, olive, a pickle slice and a pepper attached to the regular mix and vodka. Good stuff. I ordered the Ribeye steak with fries and salad and 3 jerk wings. My brother ordered a 3 way of pulled pork, brisket, and pork belly with Mac and cheese and tomato cucumber salad. I ordered the steak because some of the reviews said it was the best they had. It was very good. I asked for as rare as they will do it and it was pink throughout. The seasoning was Montreal I think and the chimichurri sauce was good. Overall a great steak especially from a BBQ joint. The fries I got with gravy and they were good too. Now the jerk wings were awesome. If I got more than 3 I’d have changed my order to 12 or more of those. I really liked this sauce. I instantly looked up if they sold this sauce but they do not! Bummer! The 3 way was good as always. The BBQ here is my favorite. Wango tango is always great to slather on as well. They never disappoint!

Google
1st the staff was very kind. I asked them how the sides were and they told me and allowed me to sample them. I absolutely loved the potato salad it was soo good and so were the baked beans. They had a nice kick to it. Also the greens were really good. Brisket was good but I was expecting better, maybe that’s why it was so cheap. The cornbread was super dry. Don’t recommend it. Gotta have a Dr Pep

Hey yall I'm back at it again! I feel like it's been a hot minute since my last actual food review buy I won't hold ya now! Why we went: Today is my 20th birthday so I decided to go to Rochester to go out to eat with my Rochesterian friend. We choose Dinosaur bbq! It's my first time going and her second time going! So we were excited! First impression look wise: On the outside it really sticks out ya know. Looks kinda flashy and it's screaming at people to come in lol. Coming in there are regular seats and tables and booths with a nice view in the window as you will see if you swipe to the second thing (video) Service: My friend arrived early and we had a reservation for 4pm. Waitress didn't hesitate to seat her as she waited for me. Waitress was kind, patient, and quick with our orders! Very food service! What did we order?: Because it's my birthday, I decided to order a pear mocktail. I wanna feel all adult so I decided to try that. Food wise, I got the 3 meat combo with 2 sides. So I got pulled pork, cheddar cheese and jalapeño sausage, and chicken with Mac and cheese and BBQ baked beans with some meat in there. My friend got the ribs How'd it taste?: The chicken was so good! Had a smokey flavor to it! I paired it with the Habanero sauce that they had on the table. The sauce made it twice as good! Pulled pork was also good and I poured their original BBQ sauce onto it! The sausage was my favorite. There was a jalapeño stuffed into it and some cheese but it isn't overwhelming and burning you with heat. It is just right. So if you're not a fan of spice I think it's still good to try. Meaty and flavorful! My friend felt the ribs were questionable based on unfamiliar flavoring but it tasted good the more she ate of it! The Mac and cheese was fantastic! We have never in our lives ever had Mac and cheese that tasted like that. It is very flavorful serving you a nice punch! It's so different than anything I've had. The baked beans were good too and the meat making or more filling. You also get cornbread for free I suppose The drink tasted a bit weird though. A little too sour for my liking. Pricing: Good for the amount you get! ⭐ x 4

Google
Omg!!! I wished they had Donosaur BBQ down in Florida. Everything we tasted was a perfect blend of spice, flavor, and texture. We had the deviled eggs, chicken wings, brisket tacos, brisket burger, pork beans and corn. Will definitely be back.

Google
Very solid 4 stars from a Texan. Usually not a ribs guy but they were good. Pulled pork was quality and I liked the Mac. Don't overlook the Tres Niños plate. It says petite portions but it was still plenty for one person. Plus two sides! Would come back.

Yelp
SO GOOD! get the poutine fries to start, our server reccomened them and it was so delicious !! So good we talked about it all day after getting lunch there.

Yelp
Still a top choice for us for local BBQ. Picked up a large to-go order for my son's birthday. His choice. Everything was well packed, including serving tongs, utensils etc. A family meal comes with a bottle of bbq sauce (you have a choice of flavor). 2 things I'll say - My order was supposed to be ready by 4:30. And I placed the order as I was packing up to leave work nearby. By the time, I got to my car: I got a text that it was ready for pick up 20 min ahead of schedule. Not a huge deal but it did make me feel a bit rushed as the food was going to be sitting for extra time. Also, parking by dino is hard. It would be great to have 1-2 spots for pick-up orders near the entrance. Or an option to have someone bring the order out.

Yelp
We were able to sit at the bar right away instead of waiting 15-20 mins for table on a summer Friday night. The deviled egg appetizer was punchy and intense with some heat but also pretty salty. I had the 'Power Couple' sliders with 1 brisket and 1 Memphis style pork slider plus a side. I don't eat brisket very often and this was a treat. So tender and smoky. The Memphis slider was great too with sweet and sour slaw on top. My partner had the BBQ chicken plate and he loved it and didn't even care to try the BBQ sauce, he was thrilled just the way it came. The Mac and cheese was a bit spicy which is good but could catch some fire off guard. I had Cajun corn with my sliders and it exceeded my expectations with sweet corn and just the right amount of Cajun kick. I actually ate every kernel of the generous serving. The corn bread wasn't anything special. Drinks were good too. I had a sangria and partner had a martini and both were very good. I'd even say the value factor was pretty good. Out dinner for 2 with 1 cocktail each and a shared small appetizer was 67 dollars with tax but before tip. A lot of times these much talked about places disappoint but at least for us on this, our first visit, it really lived up to the hype.

Yelp
I really did enjoy this place. I felt like it had a nice atmosphere and our service wasn't bad. I'm a big brisket guy, and it didn't disappoint here. They were exceptionally made and one of the best I'd had from a restaurant. The ribs, however, didn't stand out to me, and neither did the sides. Certainly not bad by any means - just not much to them. Overall, it was a pretty good experience! I don't get to go to Rochester very often, but if I have the opportunity, I think there's a decent shot that I'd come back here.

Yelp
Apparently this is an institution in upstate ny particularly in Syracuse so I had to stop by! Definitely wanted to sample the experience as well as the bbq since I've been to some popular places in the south. The ribs were really juicy and rich in sauce although very much fall of the bone which is what I'd prefer. The pork portion was more limited and a little dry while I was expecting more of a thick cut bacon so it fell short. Brisket is always my favorite so was a little disappointed with the lean portions. Best brisket is more marbled but this was a little dry and somewhat salty. Service was good. And the atmosphere was big with lots of space with a good country feel.

Yelp
My partner took me to Dinosaur during my visit to Roc last week. It took us a couple of tries to find the nearby parking garage, but we found it Service was excellent. Not only was our server kind and attentive (even as the restaurant got progressively busier), but she took the time to write down the sauces so we could try them in the future. It was a very kind gesture and we really appreciated it. The food was delicious! We ordered the Dino poutine, the four sliders, and the Bar-B-Que chopped salad. For our salad, we chose pulled chicken with a blue cheese dressing. It was SO good. I found the ambiance charming, with a fine view towards the river. Our only regret was forgetting our takeout box on the way out. We won't forget next time!

Yelp
If you're anywhere near Rochester and even remotely enjoy BBQ, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is an absolute must. I stopped in during a road trip (with a serious craving for ribs), and let me tell you -- this place did not disappoint. The ribs? Fall-off-the-bone perfection. Smoky, tender, and full of that deep BBQ flavor that you can tell took its time. The pulled pork was equally amazing -- juicy, flavorful, and piled high like they want you to have leftovers (not that I left anything on the plate!). And the mac and cheese? Creamy, cheesy, comfort-food heaven. The kind of side dish that could easily steal the show, if the BBQ wasn't already so incredible. On top of the killer food, the vibe in the restaurant is awesome -- laid back, full of character, and you can smell that wood smoke the moment you walk in. Staff was friendly and fast, and you can tell they take pride in what they do. All in all, this place lived up to the hype and then some. I'd come back to Rochester just to eat here again. Don't sleep on this spot -- it's BBQ bliss.

Yelp
Super good wings. Loved the garlic habañero sauce. I had tres niños which was a sampler platter and was somewhat less impressed but thought it was solid. Fries are forgettable. Service was awesome. Come for the smells and kitsch if nothing else.

Yelp
Decided to give this place a try. I saw a lot of reviews and the pictures look good. When I came in on a snowy evening, it was busier than I expected. I would say almost full house. I ordered the 3 meat combo and 2 sides. For the meats I ordered brisket, St. Louis ribs and sausage. The 2 sides were mac and cheese and mash potatoes. Everything was good. I would do sausage and ribs again. The brisket was a little fattier, but not bad. The sides were good. I'd order more gravy for the mash potatoes, I like it drenched. The restaurant was super busy, I did wish the server would have gotten to me sooner to check out, since I didn't want to drive in heavy snow, but ehh. It's okay. I'm also not a fan of the metal trays, have you tried using a knife on that thing?
google avatar

Teryl R.

Yelp
Nothing good nothing bad. I'm not the biggest bbq fan but I ate every bite. The collard greens were a tad bit salty, but I really enjoyed the cornbread and brisket. The waitress was sweet but busy so she didn't leave much of an impact. She did come over and check on us and that's all I ask for when I see that you are the only waiter on the floor.

Yelp
I took my wife to Dinosaur for Mother's Day lunch. We love this place. They have the best BBQ of any restaurant that I have ever eaten at . Our server was great. She was friendly and mentioned that some items were back on the menu if we're interested. We both decided to get the pulled pork sandwich on DiPaolo buns with a side of potato salad. The hickory smoked pork, the bbq sauce on a DiPaolo bun makes an amazing sandwich!

Yelp
Recently had dinosaur bbq at a catered event and was blown away by the quality of the food! The business had a smoking truck on site and you could smell the aroma of the food being prepared. Everything was so fresh as it was cooked on site. The employees who served the food were very generous with the portions provided and helped me get everything organized when my plate was getting too full. The best experience I have ever had with dinosaur bbq. Every item tried was perfect.

Yelp
In the old train depot downtown, this restaurant had great service and really good barbeque beef and pork. The sides were fine, sauces were delicious. Too many flies inside but it was a hot summer night so perhaps to be expected. So glad we ate there on our way across the country!
google avatar

Elena K.

Yelp
I always appreciate a venue with a great connection to local history and I loved hearing about how Dinosaur BBQ used to be an old train station. Our waitress, Casey, told us all about the fun ghost stories people had from working and dining in the restaurant. We got a great table with a view of the river and the little ducks fishing for their lunch. I had the ribs and a side of the corn and cucumber salad. All of it was delicious! Casey was a fantastic server who gave great recommendations and was very personal. Definitely highly recommend Dinosaur BBQ as a wonderful and delicious local restaurant in Rochester!

Yelp
I consider myself an expert on bbq brisket and I have to say this place is amazing. Upon walking up you are greeted with the savory smell of their smokers. Inside the atmosphere is perfect for a bbq restaurant. I ordered a 1/2 pound of their lean brisket. It had a nice smoke ring, lean but very juicy and I was able to cut it with a plastic fork. They put a small amount of sauce in the kitchen so one could actually taste the meat itself. It was perfect! Quite a find, you won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Mike O.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! Best BBQ we have ever had and we are from the South! Talk about fall of the bone meat and so tender! If you want great legit BBQ, stop here! Service was great and the amount of options are endless!! We definitely will be back next time in town!!
google avatar

Mia T.

Yelp
Came in on a busy Friday night. We were originally told it was going to be an hour and a half wait but it ended up only being a 15 minute wait. Our waitress was quick and nice as well. Loved all the different options of BBQ and the combo plates. There is something you're sure to find you love. The cucumber tomato salad was so refreshing, I highly recommend it. Though not the best I had, the brisket was very tender and still delicious. I would probably skip the mac and cheese. Also be careful with the sauces, they can pack quite a kick! Overall pretty great spot in a Rochester for BBQ. My biggest complaint would be the lack of parking, but that comes with being in downtown Rochester.
google avatar

Tamica J.

Yelp
Food was AMAZING! If ever in the area, please come here. Service was good and ambiance is family friendly.

Yelp
If I can describe this place in one word, it's be flavor! Dinosaur BBQ is an amazing BBQ spot in a great location downtown that embraces flavor through both its food and aesthetics. The brisket and pulled pork were done to perfection but the thing that impressed me the most were the sides, particularly the corn and mac and cheese. I was not expecting so much flavor in these! It was seasoned beyond belief and every bite had me amazed. Absolutely will be getting these again when I come back! The service was amazing, and I want to shoutout one of the employees who warned us about a parking situation right after we parked and helped us avoid a fine. Definitely went above and beyond for customers!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is always awesome. Walking by the smoker on the way in just makes you more hungry. The staff is always amazing. Attentive, helpful, and fun. The restaurant is always kept clean and it's nicely decorated. The food is delicious. I've never had anything bad here. The portions are a good size and very filling. Yum all the way.

Yelp
Great BBQ - I love the taste of the brisket, ribs and sausage - Wango BBQ Sauce is very tasty as well

Yelp
First time trying this place when I was visiting my boyfriend in Rochester. Had heard many good reviews from many University of Rochester students and the food did not disappoint. We ordered the 1/2 family style and it literally came with so much food. So much so that my boyfriend and I ate it for dinner as well! We got the brisket with the 2 sides of Mac and cheese and pulled pork with beans. At first, I was hesitant in the pulled pork with beans, but it turned out so good!! It was slightly sweet with a creamier texture. The Mac and cheese had so much flavor to it. But I think the best part was the cornbread. Oh my gosh, the cornbread was AMAZING. You could tell that they really put effort into making the cornbread fresh and buttery. The corn flavor itself wasn't too overpowering and the texture wasn't too crumbly. OVERALL, it was just really good. I also ordered the Shirley Temple drink which was really good. However, it came in a glass bottle which I was not expecting. The price was pretty reasonable for the portion size, 10/10 would come back again :)

Yelp
This is probably going to be an unfair review. They say you should never meet your heroes. That concept springs out of the impossibly that comes with living up to any hype you've earned. I was really looking forward to eating here, but I'm sad to say the experience was a total meh. The decor has a distinct Texas Roadhouse "we got meat" chain vibe. The coolest thing though was the view of the river that comes with the location. The place was packed and would turn that up to 11 before I left. They needed more servers, I think, because I barely speak my server during the visit. The food arrived and looked great, but took a turn from there. I love me some BBQ, so I was highly bummed once the fork hit my mouth: the pork was bland and tasted reheated, the brisket was phenomenal in flavor but very fatty cuts, and the ribs were burnt and inedible (I literally pitched half of what I got). On top of this, the cornbread was dried out and falling apart and the dressing on the salad overdosed on vinegar. I know, I know! I'm totally bummed about this. All that said though, it might just be the price of fame and the desperation to keep up with expectations while feeding a ton of people because of that fame and those expectations. While I understand that, you're still asking folks to pay inflated prices because of the old f and e, so you still need to deliver. So, my rating is a disappointing meh. Should have been worse, but I really wanted to enjoy this meal. Bummer. ...and give folks a wet nap when they're eating ribs! Ugh!

Yelp
Our large group was accommodated at this casual restaurant in Rochester. They not only have a nice selection for meat lovers, they also have vegetarian choices as well. I had the Impossible Barbecue Burger with mashed potatoes and a side salad $18.50. It was very flavorful and delicious. Our server was very friendly and efficient.
google avatar

Yelp
I've come to Rochester many times and always said BBQ could never taste good in NY I stand corrected. That 2 meat combo with baked beans, tomato cucumber salad was SO good.

Yelp
Love it here! The owner recently changed and a lot is different now... I've been coming to this location for 20 years. Now, the inside is cleaner, more open, but the menu is the same. I love ordering the sweet tea, fried green tomatoes, the wings, collard greens, pulled pork, Mac and cheese, whiskey cheese cake, etc. I recommend all of the food here! But, my favorite items off of the menu are the fried green tomatoes and the pulled pork. Enjoy!

Yelp
A to go place for nice BBQ dine in. Parking is very limited. Most is parking on street in front of the restaurant. When I got there and parked, it was a parking officer going around giving people tickets because they park where there is sign No parking. So be sure to check. My family came here Friday around 6:45pm and was on waiting list for half hour. There was few benches for siting near front door, may fit 10 people for waiting. The restaurant was very busy. We got a round table in the middle of the room and next to door to go the 2nd room. Table was not enough room to fit out food and drinks. And people walked pass our table a lots due to near door, which I wasn't happy. We ordered crispy chicken and family meal, and it sure way enough to fill our bellies and some left over. Food was good. The baked beans got little spicy seasoning. The corn bread a bit dry. We didn't like the BBQ brisket, the rest was good. Staffs are friendly

Yelp
This spot was one of my fav dine out experiences during my short trip to Rochester. We ordered the SweetHeart Deal for 2, which includes a full rack of ribs and 4 sides for $47 usd. I don't remember too much about the sides but hey had a lot to choose from but I remember liking the fries, corn and the collard greens. Everything I had was pretty good. This was one of the few spots that's bustling with customers Downtown. They also have various BBQ sauces for you to try on the side and you can also make a purchase of a bottle too. If you sit next to the window you can get a view of the outside waterway. Definitely a great spot to eat when in Rochester. I just wished I had more people at our table so we can try more.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Got the 3 meat combo and I was glad I did! Ribs were a highlight but all meats were great. I love the collard greens as well. The restaurant was built out of an old train station which was near to see. Get there early because it can get busy on the weekend--but the wait is worth it!

Yelp
First of all the brisket was fabulous, not at all dry and had amazing flavor. I also absolutely loved the fresh cut fries but I'm also a sucker for fresh cut fries. lol. The Mac & cheese wasn't bad but it's missing something for me, a bit of salt, maybe a little more butter, or another flavor of cheese...it's good but can be better. The corn bread was ok but I'm a person who likes some more cake like cornbread, as opposed to the more dry and gritty type. We also had an appetizer of deviled eggs and Dino poutine... the deviled eggs were OK, I don't know if I would get them again. I did not have any of the Dino poutine, but my friends said it was excellent. Everybody else at the table really enjoyed their food though my daughter and her friend did not love their mac & cheese either...but everything else was a hit. Oh and the service was really good also.
google avatar

Marissa M.

Yelp
All right, so I ordered Dino the other night because I was craving a good macaroni and cheese. And this was after a long contemplation because it's like 20 minutes away from me, whereas sticky lips is five minutes away from me so I had told myself I was going to finally try sticky lips again (after a bad experience a few years ago) and I just can't stray from Dino. I can't do it. I just know you're not gonna find any mac & cheese better than this. World's Best Mac & Cheese according to me, Congratulations!! Insert Will Ferrell in Elf costume with a cup of coffee here. The chicken wings and the fried green tomatoes, as always were very delicious. Yeah this place is just too good and I will never give it less than five stars because they just constantly deliver.

Yelp
I woke up craving it all over again, I'm sad. I didn't take leftovers home. This Meal is fantastic -- on top of that. We got a seat by the river, & our waitress well; She was delightful and a joy to have she deserves all the tips so make sure you tip right and go enjoy this wonderful food.

Yelp
Restaurant almost feels like a bike bar when you enter and has a unique ambience. Service was good, food was delicious - pulled pork and Cajun corn were spot on. The cornbread and chicken wings were mediocre, especially for a bar joint.

Td B.

Yelp
If you love BBQ, these are your people. If you and one of your dining companions are rib lovers, the full rack of ribs deal that comes with four sides is the best deal. Ribs are tender and flavorful, and the bbq sauce is a perfect blend of spicy and sweet. The sides are also a generous portion. I've been every day of my trip so far. Not sorry.

Yelp
Work took me to Rochester, New York. Of course, where to eat? The search took us to The Dinosaur Bar. Melt in your mouth brisket, delicious ribs, and Barbecue chicken. Washed down with beers. Wonderful way to end the day. Far away as it is from SoCal, I'd still say it. Socal Weekend Walkarounds definitely recommends The Dinosaur Bar! Try the Brisket!!!! The best barbecue in Rochester Located in the heart of downtown Rochester, Dinosaur BBQ Rochester is situated in the former Lehigh Valley Railroad Station, a picturesque location overlooking the Genesee River and situated near the Blue Cross Arena. https://dinosaurbarbque.com/locations/rochester Check out my Video on the Dinosaur Bar-B-Cue on IG and FB! https://fb.watch/oiGJ2W-ZLV/?mibextid=Nif5oz

Yelp
Bbq dinosaur is a hometown favorite!! They never disappoint, the food always exceeds my standards they smoke all of the meats there everyday I get the brisket or the plate with three meats on it every time! Their bbq sauce is also amazing, a little tangy but really good The staff is very nice and quick to the point, the bartenders seem to try to avoid you if your just trying to get a drink (went two days in a row) the wait times can get up to over an hour so come early! The inside is cozy and I love all of the wood in the restaurant, you can see the falls from some of the seats inside! Overall this place has exceptional bbq for the price. I would recommend any bbq lover to try this place out!

Yelp
Not sure how I've never done a review of Dinosaur - Rochester before since it's a "must" when in town for work. First- staff is awesome. They manage to be friendly in a loud, crazy environment. Everyone we came in contact with was fabulous. I've been to other Dinosaur locations and, in my opinion, this one is the best quality-wise. Food is always hot, made to order and top notch in "flavortown". We shared fried green tomatoes and smoked wings. Loved the tomatoes and the wings are perfect. I could go back and just do wings for a meal. But I ordered a bowl-perhaps something new to the menu? A mix of rice, black beans, salad and a choice of protein (or mushroom!). I had the pulled chicken and the portion was just right. Everything tasted great and I loved the chipotle dressing on the side. Others at the table had combination plates, burgers, brisket and a build your own salad. Rave reviews all around. Shared two desserts that are also house made-key lime pie and salted caramel cookie...both off the hook. Fun, festive, loud, delish. Love that there are now choices for non meat eaters, too.

Yelp
Texas style BBQ in Rochester, New York, that doesn't quite live upto authentic Texas BBQ. The goods: excellent, friendly service, well run staff even during hectic rush, delicious house bbq sauce, good variety of beverages, lively atmosphere, rustic country western theme interior. The bads: good luck with street parking, very loud, impossible to hear conversations, mac-n-cheese wasn't prepared well, some shells hard, brisket was very thinly sliced and lacked body, chicken was dry/overcooked, St. Louis style ribs were small/on the dry side. The restaurant is located in downtown Rochester with a nice view of the river; large dining areas with many tables & booths, outdoor seating available weather permitting, a separate takeout order area, small waiting area, very popular for locals & tourists, food was average but service was excellent, well run establishment. Worth a first visit but would not return.

Yelp
Came here with my crew for some dinner. Very expensive so I went with the fried chicken sandwich with mashed potatoes and coleslaw which I think was around $15 if I remember correctly. The sandwich was good. I got it with bbq sauce which was good but not the best I'd ever had. Mashed potatoes were good. I like that they actually make them and it's not from a box. The coleslaw on the other hand.....NASTY!!!!!!!! Took one bite and wanted to vomit. I think they make it with oil and vinegar or something. YUCK!!! Wish I could have gotten a nice platter but there was NO WAY I was gonna spend that much. Lower your d*mn prices!!

Yelp
Best BBQ we have had in a long time! Visiting from Florida and wish we had one near us. Restaurant is a funky style, lots of music posters and music related art on the walls, lot of vintage pieces. Drinks were great, lot of beers, IPA's, wines, mixed drinks, and shockingly they had sweet tea! As should any bbq place. Food. Incredible! I had brisket and ribs, ribs were solid but the brisket was to die for, highly recommend that. We were a party of 4, and everyone loved what they had. Even the sides were great. Side dishes can be throwaways at times, but their Mac and cheese was really good. Staff was really great and accommodating, wife is gluten-free and our server really took an interest in making everything acceptable. Definitely recommend this BBQ spot!!

Yelp
TLDR; ordered take out and it was delicious. Ordered the family style package which was definitely a hefty portion but so satisfying. Definitely add the cheddar jalapeno sausage (not included in the family style package). I was looking for some good American barbeque and I was surprised that there was a Dinosaur BBQ here cause I've only seen it around NYC. Now I know that they have a few locations upstate NY as well! Since it was a Friday night and we were a big group looking for dinner, I decided to opt for take out incase we couldn't get seats. Good thing I did cause when I came to pick up, the place was packed both indoors and outdoors, with several parties waiting for a table. I ordered online and it estimated ~30 mins for the food to be ready. It was pretty accurate cause I received a text just a little over 30 mins that my order was ready. The pick up was smooth and the staff was very kind, making sure that I had everything and that I would be able to carry it back to the car myself. Like I mentioned, we were a big group so I decided to order the family style package which comes with a whole chicken, full rack of ribs, one pound brisket or pork (we chose brisket), 3 sides, and cornbread. We also decided to add another 2 meat platter on top of that with brisket and cheddar jalapeno sausage. I wished they gave at least two sausage links rather than just one but it was definitely a lot of food and we devoured it all! The meats were great quality, so tender and plenty of flavor but it also came with a whole jar of Dinosaur BBQ's own sauce which we had to add over the meats too. For sides, we got to try almost all of them - collard greens, mac & cheese, tomato cucumber salad, mac salad, and baked beans. Loved every bite. The only thing I didn't really expect was for the tomato cucumber salad to be a little sour, almost pickled but it helped to contrast the heavy BBQ flavors. The corn bread was also nice and fluffy, definitely would be best warmed up but still deliciously sweet (but not too sweet).

Yelp
This place was recommended to me and I'm glad I drove the 30 minutes. It was definitely worth it. Parking was free in the evening and the restaurant was not as busy as I thought it might be. I started with fried green tomatoes; they had a slight zing and they were hot and crispy. The combo was perfect! The meats were falling off the bone and moist (I said it!.. MOIST!) the baked beans were fire!. Coleslaw was savory and my beer cold and hit the spot! The bar was clean and the people were friendly and helpful. I forgot my glasses and a bystander read the menu to me. The servers are great! You need to come down and visit. Make it there on a hot day but expect large crowds because I believe they are normally packed.

Yelp
Celebrated family birthday and got a free drink or dessert. Server was very personable and attentive and food was exceptional. Can be a bit loud, but no complaints. Brisket is especially tasty. It is usually quite busy so plan on early arrival!

Yelp
I ordered the two-meat combo with brisket and pork ribs, and both were tender, well-seasoned, and delicious. One of the highlights of the meal was the macaroni--it tasted fantastic. The ambiance captured the classic barbecue joint vibe, and I enjoyed sitting at the bar, where the service was good!

Yelp
Absolutely incredible. We were in town for the weekend and had to stop by and try this out. The ribs were incredible, the wings were great, but my favorite had to be the pork belly. Never had it quite like that and I am still craving it now! Will definitely be back!
