The 13 Best Restaurants In Troy, New York - Troy - The Infatuation

"Dinosaur BBQ occupies a huge waterfront space with indoor and outdoor seating, and it’s a great place for a casual group meal. Expect to find all of your favorite BBQ classics, including some extremely spicy and delicious pit-smoked chicken wings. Surprisingly, this is an ideal place to take people with dietary restrictions, too. There’s an entire section of their menu devoted to gluten-free options, and you could happily make a vegetarian-friendly meal out of a few of their fried green tomato sliders and a bunch of sides." - carina finn koeppicus

Google
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Troy is a fun spot right on the river, offering both indoor and outdoor seating with a great waterfront vibe. The barbecue is very good and lives up to the restaurant’s reputation. The bar is large and usually busy, especially on a Friday night, which adds to the lively atmosphere. It’s a great place to hang out with friends, enjoy good food, and soak in the energy of the crowd. The service was average, but overall it’s still a solid choice for a casual night out with good barbecue and a scenic setting.

True North American feel , the food was superb the presentation was amazing and the ambience was great. The best thing about this restaurant was that everything was well cooked fresh and moreover the portions were very good, good enough for a foodie like myself. The smoked meat was juicy. Restrooms were also classy and antique. Loved this place and will visit next time. Love from Montreal 🇨🇦 👏

Stumbling into Harlem with friends at 7 PM, this American BBQ place really didn't live up to my expectations. Prime Brisket: A popular recommendation. The meat was grilled until very tender, but not very juicy. All the grilled meats were extremely salty, only slightly alleviated by the Original dipping sauce. The sauce was primarily tomato-based, but lighter and more tangy than regular tomato sauce, with a hint of spiciness and smokiness. Pork Belly: It was served with crunchy pickles, adding more flavor and texture, and helping to cut through the oiliness. St. Louis Rib: Extra $2 for adding to a combo set meal. The ribs were bone-in but grilled until almost falling off the bone; the layer of fat clinging to the bone was satisfying--truly the most perfect part. Pulled Pork: Personally, I think this was the best dish. The pork was grilled until tender and flavorful without being overly salty. Shredded and mixed with the Original sauce, the texture became moist, and the flavor was even fresher. Syracuse Style Salt Potatoes: Simply seasoned with salt, butter, and a touch of chopped herbs--super fragrant. Potatoes can't be bad. Side Salad: I chose a red wine vinaigrette to dress the herbs; there was probably no more whiter dish in the world. As "Uncle Roger" said, white food tastes like sad. Fresh Squeezed Lemonade Strawberry: It was quite sour for most people, but I really liked it~ The water here was a bit unpleasant to drink, with a noticeable chlorine taste, so you might want to order a beverage instead.

Google
Well rounded consistent bbq spot. Service at the bar was excellent. -Deviled eggs, seasoned well. -1/4 chix thigh, juicy. Great flavor. Rendered skin. -Sausage, slight spice, juicy. -Brisket, tender. if you make sure there’s fat in the bite it’s ok. Without its dry. -Cornbread, served without butter or honey was disappointing. -Mac n cheese, seasoned well, nicely cooked Mac wasn’t mushy. -Potato salad spot on. Seasoned, mix of tender chunks & mashed. -Baked beans & stewed greens both lacking in seasoning.

Google
Great restaurant! They have it all: great food, good tables, good atmosphere, good decor, nice views, great service! We had a brisket and bacon sandwich, BBQ chicken, fries, fries with gravy (excellent gravy), mac & cheese, and corn bread. Good portion sizes, too. Loved it. We walked from the Best Western hotel across the street. (photo note: the chicken breast is on a side plate bc it came out of the smoker after the other pieces on the plate. The meal came with 2 legs, 2 thighs, and 1 breast, plus 2 sides.)

Last night we went for my sons birthday, food was amazing, loved our waitress I wish I could remember her name. Overall it was a great night and the Christmas decorations were beautiful. I took a picture of my food. lol it’s like my fried green tomatoes came right off the skillet!

David our server took great care of us. He explained the flavors we could choose from, made suggestions for us, and made our dining experience very enjoyable. Overall the food was delicious, atmosphere was pleasant, and we'll definitely be back.

Yelp
First time here looking for good food on a Saturday night and was not dissapointed! They have a vast and mouth watering food selection. I started with Cajun deviled eggs (highly recommend) and had brisket and pulled pork sliders with spicy cucumber salad and mac. Meat was pull apart perfect. Spicy cucumber salad was amazing and very refreshing, I need to find a recipe for it this summer! Mac was thick and cheesy. Me and the lady got a good buzz with their great drinks and became full with the very very tasty food. We will certainly be back.

Yelp
Came here October 10th 2025. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Nice view of the Hudson River. Food was delicious behind the sample platter. Chicken pulled pork and ribs collard greens and mac and cheese IPA beer and peanut butter pie! What a mix.. hahaha But we loved every bite. The only thing I didn't like was their barbecue sauce They didn't have a nice thick semi-sweet BBQ sauce everything was spicy spicy spicy. So I had to push my sauce to the side and put a napkin over it. I love spicy but it was not going with my barbecue. Overall I loved experience and the building is very nice.

Yelp
Great spot for BBQ in Troy! We were on our way to the Field of Horror's Haunted Halloween Attraction in the area and we're looking for a spot to meet up for dinner with friends. Nancy found Dinosaur BBQ through Yelp and based on the reviews we decided to met up for dinner here. It was Friday evening and the restaurant was hopping, parking was limited but we found a spot. We were promptly greeted and there was only a 5 minute wait to be seated. The restaurant is spacious and has a lot of seating available. Our server was super friendly and gave us some recommendations based on what we were interested in. We decided on a three meat combo with the half chicken, ribs, and pulled pork ($30). The entree comes with two sides, we chose collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and a piece of cornbread. I also ordered a Fiddlehead IPA ($7.50) which was refreshing and flavorful. Our meals were out in about 15 minutes. Everything was delicious. The ribs were super tender and had a great flavor. The chicken was juicy and skin crispy how I like, the pulled pork was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly. The mac-n-cheese was creamy and delicious, the corn bread cake-like with a crispy outer crust, the collard greens some of the best I've had. Honestly, the collard greens and pulled pork were the star of the meal. I would have been happy just eating those two items. We closed out our meal with the Peanut Butter Cup Pie ($7) which was excellent. Very creamy, not too sweet, plenty of peanut butter flavor and covered in crispy chocolate shavings, I did not let one go to waste, so darn good. The only issue we had is all of their BBQ sauces are on the medium to hot level. They do not have a mild sauce available at the table. So fair warning don't go crazy on adding sauce to the meal without sampling it first. All-in-all, we had a great experience here and I would definitely return for some more great BBQ next time we are in the area.

Yelp
I've always enjoyed eating here, especially on a cold winter night where the coziness of the restaurant and the wonderful smells are mouthwatering! I recently ordered takeout and the service was exceptional. The greeter was very friendly and took care of me on a very busy night. They have a limited takeout menu and so we ordered Korean chicken wings, the pulled pork sandwich, and the impossible bbq burger with a side of the amazing mac & cheese. The pulled pork was delicious, but the Korean chicken wings lacked flavor and the impossible barbecue burger was undercooked :/ . The food here is usually pretty good so it's unfortunate that this takeout experience was lacking. Because of the great service, I would probably give this a 3.5.

Yelp
I was hungry and wandering around Troy. BBQ in NY can be iffy, but then again, it is hard to make real bad BBQ. I got an order to go. It was really busy but with a separate to go order space, I got my order quickly. The service warms excellent! I got the trio. Everything was good. Nothing special but some good solid Que. pork and ribs fine, the brisket was tender. Slaw just ok as well as the cucumber salad. Overall a good restaurant and worth trying.

Yelp
I'm flying home tomorrow, and I'm glad I picked the Best Western across the street for my last night. I pulled in, saw this place, and knew I had to have dinner here. I did not make a wrong decision. Even at 7:30 PM on a Monday, the place was busy. I was told 10 to 15 minutes for a table, but they had my table within five. I liked the place. It's large on the inside, and it gave me a kind of a "roadhouse" vibe... They also have outdoor seating as well. I like the idea of trying a "sampler" plate, so I got the barbecue bowl. It came, and it was very large. Everything was amazing. I loved the deviled egg, the creole seasoning gave it a good flavor with just a tiny bit of a "kick". The salad was a good quality, the pumpkin seeds gave a good crunch and a good little pop of flavor, and I loved the Creole honey mustard dressing. Again, the dressing had just a little bit of a "kick" to it, but just enough that I noticed it was there. The collard greens were tender and savory, the sweet potatoes were just the right consistency, and had a little bit of a buttery taste to them. So amazingly good. I loved the cornbread, you could tell it was a good quality, cornbread, and it had just a little bit of a "sweet" touch to it. Some people don't, but I like a sweet cornbread, as long as it's not overly sweet. Finally, the pulled pork was to die for! It had a little bit of a crisp on the top of it, which was good, and then underneath, the pork was just so tender and flavorful. You can tell they know how to man their pit. The barbecue sauce on top had a nice tang. to it. To drink? I was in a barbecue place, so I had to have the sweet tea! A good quality, tea, and just the right amount of sweetness. I was offered dessert, but there was no way. I was full. They do offer a military/veterans discount, and for this amazing meal, drink, tax and tip, I was out the door roughly 22 bucks. It would've only been a couple more without the discount. For such an amazing meal, I was very impressed. I would stay at the motel across the street again, just so I could come back to this place. Thanks.

Yelp
Slightly surprised by the lower rating for this place. Food was really good. Our server lacked some attention to detail, she didn't get the app we ordered. It wasn't on our bill so it's a pass. We wanted to try the deviled eggs... she also thought I wanted the coleslaw by asking me which one, they have two types, so I picked the sweet & sour, but I got the spicy cucumber salad which is what I really wanted anyway, but not coleslaw... she never came back to check on us until we were done. So I have to knock off a start for service. Now the food was another story! I got the power couple cuz it was the best of the two sandwiches that I wanted to try, just smaller sliders. Bothe were delicious! My DH got the bahn mi brisket and said it was good too. My kid got the pulled pork sandwich and loved it. I would go back and hope that we got a better server next time.

Yelp
Good Barbecue, great service, nice view of the Hudson, overall great place to go, especially for a large group of BBQ lovers. Our food was delivered quick after ordering and our server was super nice and attentive. Definitely worth a visit if it's the type of food you're craving!

Yelp
You love brisket, you come here. You love bbq rice, you most definitely come here. You love friendly service and many drink options, you come here. This place gets super busy during the rush hour so I advise calling ahead and making reservations. This place is loud, full of that delicious smoked bbq smells. Great waiters, fast service always smiling and getting your orders correct. I had nothing but a great experience here again and look forward to more outings.

Yelp
I visited Dinosaur BBQ about a year ago, a time when beef was still new to me and I was just getting accustomed to other meatier meats. Don't think I could really enjoy it the first time. Since then I've fallen in love with the diverse flavors and various meats, and I've definitely acquired a taste for it (thank you Jesse hehe) I literally live across from Dinosaur BBQ now and we decided to go on some random Wednesday (which btw, it was PACKED) But I fell in love with everything I ate. I had the combo meal: brisket, pork belly, and pulled pork. It comes with two sides and I chose mashed potatoes with gravy and mac n cheese. I also discovered a new love for baked beans!!! And of course, that cornbread. ugh. delish The food was a 10/10, so freakin' delicious. Vibes are amaze with patio seating or indoor, and the staff are quick and kind. You bet I'll be visiting Dinosaur BBQ more frequently

Yelp
Another amazing dinner at Dinosaur BBQ! I know what you're thinking, if you go to a BBQ joint, you gotta eat BBQ. And guess what, I did! I had pulled pork nachos that were so good I think I heard angels singing, and then a crispy chicken salad that was off the chain. But let's get real, their corn bread is the real MVP. It's like a party in your mouth and everyone's invited. The aroma of smoked BBQ fills the air and you can't help but get a little too excited for your food to come out. The service was on point, and the food came out faster than you can say pulled pork nachos. The place was packed, but I was smart and made reservations a few days before. I'm glad I did, because it was packed during dinner time. Who's down to join me for some pulled pork nachos? I'm ready to go back!

Yelp
Had lunch here with friends. Lunch hour was busy. Our server was busy checking people out before she got to us. Restaurant has a nice river view. Our food was good but wish it was temperature hot. I do recommend this place.
google avatar

Yelp
We decided to go here for dinner on a Saturday evening and it was a 45min wait for our party of 2. We were seated at a nice booth by the back windows overlooking the Hudson River. This is a large bustling restaurant. They were quite busy but our waitress took great care of us. Food took awhile to come out. We ordered the Combo meal with 3 choices ( 2 ribs pork bbq, jalapeno beef brisket, and cold ¼ shrimp boil). We picked mashed potatoes and Cole slaw for the sides. The ribs were really good but the beed brisket we got was half full of fat. The shrimp was good. It was enough food for 2 people. We also ordered the large fried green tomatoes appetizer. I think we could have gotten away with the half order.

Yelp
I've always loved Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and this time around did not disappoint! We were able to walk right in without a reservation on a Saturday evening. I ordered the vegan burger which was delicious! I also tried some of the collard greens which were very flavorful! Fried green tomatoes were also great but could do without the cheese on top.

Yelp
No .. No .. No ... fried , greasy and a stomach ache waiting to happen . Would expect something a little less messy .

Yelp
Food was great as always but...the hostess was not very pleasant asked for booth and was told they were reserved. So we told her anything but the bar area and she put us in the bar area. I had called ahead for a reservation and was told they we not taking reservations. Not a good time which was rare as we are usually there once a month.

Yelp
Excellent bbq my favorite place to stop on the way home, from VT to PA. Good service nice selection, I especially enjoy the fried green tomatoes and pork sliders.

Yelp
Was happy to review a child hood favorite of mine, Dinosaur bbq. I grew up going to the original location in Syracuse- the Troy location was great. We had an awesome booth that over looked the water, and our server was on point. We got the family platter- and had a ton of leftovers. Ribs were amazing, brisket had a nice subtle heat, and the wings big and juicy. The wings were substituted for us, as they were out of whole chickens- The wings were huge, so I thought it was a pretty good substitute so I did not remove a star. Very good bbq.
google avatar

Frank M.

Yelp
It was just ok for $40.00, I think since it was a takeout order. I don't get the best pieces of ribs or brisket. That and everything's tasted like the jalapeños that they put on top of the meat. Kind of killed the overall taste. Mac and cheese was a bit crunchy and under cooked. Had ok flavor, same as the beans. Overall, just an ok overpriced takeout order.

Yelp
Went here for lunch with some coworkers and it was absolutely worth it!! Our bartender, Jess, was super friendly with the best attitude and made us feel incredibly welcomed. The food was fantastic- I had the chicken cheesesteak with a side of Mac and cheese and it was worth every bite !! It was even a super comfortable place to pull out my laptop and do some last minute work as the day drew to a close. Highly recommend a visit with friends, family or coworkers!

Yelp
So delicious!! I've been meaning to visit Dinosaur BBQ for a while now and it didn't disappoint! First the location has a pretty view since it's by the water and the restaurant has such a fun casual vibe to it. The hostess and our waitress were both really kind and attentive as well. The creole spiced deviled eggs were recommended to me by a friend and I definitely agree they are not to be missed if you come! I also split the sweetheart deal that comes with a rack of ribs and 4 sides and it was the perfect amount of food. The ribs were well done, tender, and slid right off the bone and the sides were delicious, we especially liked the Mac and cheese, whipped sweet potatoes, and cucumber salad. I'll definitely be bringing friends and family back and recommend trying this place out if you are craving bbq!
google avatar

Brianna S.

Yelp
My husband and I had an excellent lunch date here at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. We split the poutine fries, a brisket cheesesteak sandwich, and a two meat platter with sides. All winners. (the pork belly is to die for) Our waitress was super friendly and outgoing which made for really pleasant service. It was great experience, top to bottom. We can't wait to recommend this place to our friends and family!

Yelp
3.5/5 - The restaurant is very beautiful and has a nice seating area inside and outside on the River!! The sliders and Mac and Cheese were delicious, however it was very greasy and my wife and I ended up getting a small stomach ache. The nachos were delicious as well although even without the jalapeños they were a bit spicy. Our server was attentive the entire night! I may come back again but I would probably order something different! Overall decent experience, I'm sure if we come a second time we would have a bit more pleasant of an experience!

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised by how good dinner at Dino BBQ was. It was my boyfriend and I's first time so we tried to order as many different menu items as possible. For starts we had the deviled eggs and poutine, which were both great. The poutine fries were crispy and the texture and taste wasn't outshined by the toppings. Our entrees were even more impressive. I got the tres ninos (because I need to maximize the items I try ofc), which came with pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. The meats were all good but the ribs were amazing. The ribs were so good that my boyfriend suggested that we return just to order a bunch of ribs. All of the sides were delicious as well. The macaroni and cheese was probably my favorite. It was creamy and had a unique flavor profile for mac and cheese (had a similar taste to jalapeño in my opinion). The cornbread was heavenly. It wasn't too sweet and practically melts in your mouth. Overall, everything we had was delicious and I'm glad that I finally tried this restaurant. The servers were kind and attentative. The overall vibe of the restaurant is rodeo themed which is a fun casual, setting. Location wise, it's right by the Hudson and Downtown Troy so there's plenty to do around. There's a large parking lot as well so no issues with parking.
google avatar

Dallas B.

Yelp
I came here with some coworkers while in the area for a work conference. It is in a great location right on the river, and nearby to most of the downtown area. We went for dinner on a week night so it wasn't too busy. There is plenty of parking in the lot. The service was great throughout, and the vibes were great for a BBQ place. All of the food we tried was great, and well worth the price. I ordered to platter that had brisket and pulled pork. Both tasted great, and everyone else at the table loved their food as well. If I am ever in the area again, I would definitely come back.

Yelp
We were here last weekend on a brilliantly sunny and beautiful recent autumn day in New York's Hudson Valley. We had traveled the 3 hours from home to pick up a Gustav Stickley console. We love Mission/Craftsman style furniture and found a piece that we had been looking for. It is certainly available new but this piece, in absolutely pristine condition, was being sold by a couple downsizing from their rather large home to a smaller one now that they are retired. After picking up the console, loading it in the pickup truck (that's another story! Lol!) we were ready for a late lunch. We are both fans of good barbecue and had been to another of the Dinosaur locations in Syracuse NY a couple of years ago. We have also been to the Dinosaur location in Newark NJ which has since closed. This location in Troy is in a lovely industrial style building right on the Hudson River. There is plenty of seating inside including at a bar. There is also patio seating and on another side of the building on what they call "porch seating". We wanted to sit outside since it was a sunny almost 80 degree day. Both the patio and porch are covered so happily we could be outside but protected from the sun. The porch where we sat is a smaller space and unlike the interior, it is quiet and relaxing out there. We were greeted warmly by our server whose name I believe was Mike. He was terrific and coincidentally had once lived in the Boston area and was quite familiar with our town. As expected, Tom ordered his barbecue favorite, brisket. I ordered the chopped salad which comes with a choice of protein and I too chose brisket. My salad with the brisket was excellent. It was exactly what I was looking for which was to have some brisket but also a lovely salad. I chose blue cheese dressing on the side which accompanied the salad and the beef nicely. Tom's brisket came with two sides and he chose potato salad and a cucumber salad. We enjoyed our meals immensely. The brisket was tender and flavorful. I had a glass of pinot grigio and Tom had a hard cider. Our server was attentive and very friendly. There was no rush to leave so we enjoyed our meals in leisurely fashion while observing the boats going by on the Hudson River. It was really a delightful experience. The only confusing part is having been told when we entered that the wait was about 30 minutes only to find that in every area of the restaurant there were plenty of open tables...far more than it seemed there were people waiting. They may have a staff shortage but either way our wait was less than 15 minutes. I do recommend a stop in to this Dinosaurs if you're in the area and are a fan of barbecue.

Yelp
You could tell this place is a favorite, and the food is going to be outstanding just based on the clientele. There were families, couples, college students, a young couple who appeared to be going to a high school formal and every ethnicity and age group out there - this place was hopping and it was 3pm on a Saturday afternoon! The husband ordered the brisket sandwich; I had the combo with pulled pork, 1/4 chicken and ribs with Harlem potato salad and spicy cucumber salad. A lot of food, but you can probably see where this is going; what I ordered was suggested by the hubs who had eaten here before, I knew that he was going to end up eating, at least half of my meal as well Delicious! Had the pricy Dinosaur Margarita - totally worth it!

Yelp
waitresses sucks, atmosphere is even worse. Waited an hour for my drink.. went to bar and told I wouldn't be served with that attitude.. good luck those that go..

One of the best BBQ places in the northeast - been coming for over a decade and it's consistently good!

Yelp
Recently hit Dinosaur BBQ in Troy to meet up with previous co-workers. It's been quite some time since I last visited Dinosaur and was unsure what to get for lunch. Happily, the server said the chef was recommending the fish and chips. I'm not a tartar sauce girl so I inquired if cocktail sauce was available. Yes! It is with a bit of habenero heat in it. Enjoyed the fantastic fish and chips. Enjoyed the company, the view. Parking is plentiful. Server was more than pleasant. It was a nice afternoon out connecting with old friends.

Yelp
Here's the scene ... I had to make a delivery for the wife and when I'm in Troy I eat BBQ at dinosaur. Full disclosure I haven't heard the best things lately. And the yelp reviews were a bit low. I'm here to tell ya don't believe it. The place has the juice still There was a bit of a wait so we hit the bar. The bartender was rough loud and served it up right. She picked the IPA and it didn't disappoint. She served my son sprite too with a side of sarcasm that had us both laughing! So the food. We started with smoked wings and poutine. Both were on point. The wings were perfectly cooked and the blue cheese is housemade I'd bet my lawnmower on it. And the poutine was steaming hot crispy cheesy smooth gravy dripping and I couldn't have asked for better. He had a chicken sandwich h and I had the bbq sampler with Mac and collards. Brisket was bomb. Ribs were tender moist and smoky pulled pork was in ok on point. Mac and cheese was like grandma made (but better) and the show stopper was the show stopper! I didn't catch our waitresses name but she was the best. On us but not pushy. Go here. Keep good bbq in the capital region.

Yelp
Second time coming here and it was great! It does get very busy so I would make sure to make a reservation. The sweetheart deal is what me and my friend shared and it is definitely worth it. The deviled eggs are also great! The service was also great, they checked in on us many times and refilled our drinks.

David W.

Yelp
Updated Review: Tried it again and the food was so much better than the last time. The boiled shrimp was absolutely delicious as was the dipping sauce, The catfish was also delicious and very flavorful and crispy. The cucumber side is spicy, crisp and delicious. The salad is very fresh. My husband had the fried rice side which was delicious. The cornbread was just right with a little sweetness. Great being able to add 2 ribs to the plate for a little extra - tender and flavorful. Excellent espresso martinis. So glad we gave it another try. Went back a third time and also thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and drinks!

Yelp
I have been visiting dinosaur bbq on a regular basis, and almost every time they have been pretty consistent with their woods. Wings , deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, nachos are a must try. Yet to have a bad encounter with these orders. For entree ribs has been good most times but sometimes it tends to be on the dryer side. Chicken and pork sandwiches are also pretty good. They also have live music at times, most of the time it's busy, and they have quite a few screens with ongoing sporting events.

Yelp
The restaurant was nice , clean but dark. Don't forget your glasses to see thr menu. The sangria was good and I enjoy the sweet tea too. I enjoy the ribs and green tomatoes.

Yelp
There is something about BBQ that makes you hungry! And when there's a hurricane ouside you might want to stuff your face -- this is the place. The 2 meat/2 side option hit the spot, and there's enough leftover for lunch! Fast service and they provide the take out containers with a nice plastic tote against the storm.

Yelp
This spot literally understood the assignment. The margaritas quenched my thirst. The wings extra crispy literally perfect. The ribs were so juicy and tender they didn't even need sauce but I did drench them because why not? The brisket was full of smoky goodness. I'm glad I was referred here! If you haven't been, you're missing out. The atmosphere and the server was great and gave us some good feedback on what dive bars to try out. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
Have been coming here for over a decade now and I never get sick of it. Definitely one of the best BBQ places in the capital region and is a must try if you are in town. The portions are very filling and high quality. My personal favorite is the brisket. I typically get it in a pick two platter, but tried it in a sandwich today and was very satisfied. All the sides are very good as well, my favorites are mashed potatoes and the bbq fried rice.

Yelp
The food was insanely good here! The fried green tomatoes are a must try. I actually didn't care to order it but was pleasantly surprised at how delicious, crispy, and flavorful it was. Then, we created our own plate with ribs, brisket, chicken, mac and cheese, and cucumber salad. Everything melted in our mouth. It was more than enough food for two of us to share with leftovers. The service was kind and we were able to sit outside on the patio. Dinosaur BBQ is definitely a solid choice when in the area.

Yelp
So excited to have my first in person Dinosaur BBQ experience! My fiance is from Upstate NY and we've had bottled sauce from Dinosaur but I've never had the real deal. Our experience at the Troy location didn't disappoint! I had the Power couple, which was two sliders - 1 brisket and 1 pulled pork, with two sides. I opted for fries and the BBQ fried rice. Some of the best fries I've ever had and the bbq fried rice was good. My fiancé had the brisket Bahn mi and he raved about it. I had a bite and it was delicious. He also had the Mac and cheese which was tasty. Great spot, cozy and not too corporate. Probably would be a great place to watch a game and hang in the summer with it being right on the river. Great, quick and friendly service. Our server checked in just enough. I think the value for the portions and quality was pretty amazing! I look forward to another visit when we're back in NY.

Yelp
It's been awhile since we have been here and boy are we glad we came! We ordered a rack of ribs as an appetizer and the Family Meal deal- we really wanted a lb of pulled port - What we didn't realize what we ordered came with Pulled pork AND 1/2 a rack of ribs And Chicken plus the 3 sides and cornbread!!! oh my goodness - A lot of extremely tasty food!!! Yum mashed potatoes with gravy- Sweet potato casserole (who needs dessert when you have this!!) mac and cheese ( teen wasn't crazy about the seasoned top but the Adults loved it - All the meats we're seasoned perfectly!! Best part is we have enough left over for lunch tomorrow!! You will not leave hungry! And as an added bonus- They have a to go window!! Service was great - Our waiter was great - great back and forth with him!

Yelp
Hostesses were confused with regards to folks with reservations as we did. They were seating walk-ins ahead of reservations. We happened to be 30 mins early and asked to be seated early if possible. We were floored to see them seating walk-ins. As for the food, we both had the combo ribs and 1/2 chicken plus we paid extra for 2 extra ribs each. Our ribs were dry as was the chicken firm and dry. For being a BBQ restaurant they certainly did a poor job. Server was nice though.

Yelp
This place has always been unable to bring hot food to you. Not sure what their problem is but when your food reaches you, it will likely be room temperature. Collard greens have an awful flavor. Ruined my whole luke warm plate. I do not recommend this place at all.

Yelp
This place is huge. Tons of seating and parking. Beautiful outside seating along the river with views of the Green Island bridge. There was also additional seating outside under a tent with lights. The parking lot smelled like delicious smoked BBQ meats- always a good sign. We loved EVERYTHING we ate. The brisket was our favorite of the meats moist and flavorful- I tried all 3 BBQ sauces and preferred the original as the others were too spicy for my taste. The macaroni and cheese was yummy and while the fried bbq rice was exactly what it sounds like it'd be I was surprised by the flavor of fried rice and BBQ and how well it went together. We also enjoyed their fries and potatoe salad. My friend also enjoyed her chicken cheesesteak sandwich. The waitress was fast, friendly, and helped us decide what we wanted so we could try all the things I'd love to come back if ever in Troy, NY again.

My husband and I had dinner at the bar. The ribs were fantastic, and the fresh cut fries were really fantastic. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Went here after a business meeting with a bunch of colleagues. I've lived in SC for about 20 years where they are very particular about their BBQ, and Dinosaur's food measured up well! I have the 3 meat combo with pork, 1/4 chicken, brisket, greens, and cucumber salad. I didn't like the cucumber salad too much, the dressing tasted like jar dressing and I didn't think there would be any on it (my fault for not asking first), everything else was outstanding. We also had the sliders as appetizers and I liked them a lot too. The start removed was for the service. The host was clueless (my colleague asked if the BBQ was tomato based and he had no idea what we were talking about, neither did the waitress), he got irritated when we picked a table to sit at rather than just sitting at the bar (we were there at lunch time and they didn't have enough servers for the tables yet), and it took a VERY long time to get our food and no one was eating anything that needed to be made fresh. Prices were a little high in my experience too, but I am not familiar with Albany pricing. Place is homey on the inside though a bit dimly lit and music is a little loud if you want to talk. J.Ja
