Chicago’s bar and restaurant closures for 2019 | Eater Chicago
"An Old Town institution that operated for 30 years across three neighborhood locations, Dinotto closed over Thanksgiving weekend; enthusiasm is already building for a replacement pizzeria from chef Gianni Gallucci, who will bring traditional Neapolitan pies to the space and is expected to open in mid-January." - Eater Staff
I was feeling nostalgic for Italy today. The main takeaway from my time there was the food. So when I heard about this little sandwich shop I was very excited. The atmosphere of the shop itself is small and quaint. I ordered two sandwiches. The Muffaletta and the Siciliano. The staff was very friendly and quick to make the sandwiches. The Siciliano was what I expected. It was delicious. The Muffaletta was also good when it came to the quality of the meat and cheeses. Sadly my only complaint would be the bread was stale. It may have been day old considering I was there right near opening. Other than that it was a good experience. The shop has a small assortment of imported Italian goods for sale. Cheeses, drinks, and pastas. I would definitely return again. Not like the food I had in Italy but a good American version of it.

Ordered the muffaletta and the chicken parm, and both were delicious! Great bread, meat, cheese, and condiments. Large enough that you might want to eat half now and save half for later. For an east sider having Dinotto takes the sting out of losing Al***ri to Monroe St.

I tried the Southsider for the taleggio cheese. Very tasty with high-quality and fresh ingredients. The cheese wasn’t too funky and the bread was soft with enough crunch in the crust. Will definitely come back!

Very expensive for what you get. The sandwich was mostly pepper in flavor, which drowned out the rest of the ingredients. Parking was also challenging, which added to the frustration.
I wanted to love it, but I’d likely go elsewhere next time.

There was almost 3 fingers thickness of meat on my sandwich, at first when i picked it up it didnt even feel like a sandwich just solid like salami. It was incredible, the meat was not too salty and the bread had just enough oil without being greasy.

The Southsider is the best combination of balanced, delicious, flavorful ingredients I've ever tasted on a sandwich. Perfect. Thank you!

I stopped by D'Vino but they were closed for lunch and recommended that I try their deli around the corner. It was amazing. I had arancini stuffed with meat and peas in a fabulous lightly spicy marinara and a tangy farro salad. The food was fresh and quick. Next time I want to try the muffuletta sandwich.
