"Dio, H Street’s go-to natural wine bar that flipped into a bottle shop during the pandemic, just sent its last drop of wine out the door." - Tierney Plumb
"Dio, a go-to natural wine bar that has flipped into a bottle shop during the pandemic, is missing $2,000 to $3,000 worth of wine, general manager Danielle Moreno says. That total spans about 70 bottles. The robber grabbed dozens of display bottles and inventory showcased behind its front window. Dio had already endured setbacks before the break-in. Moreno, the GM, says she was diagnosed with COVID-19 in mid-March, and the wine bar shut down completely for two weeks. Operations resumed only after she received a clean bill of health on April 1. Dio, which is operating with just four employees, will add a market component to its business this week with grocery goods like flour, yeast, spices, pickle packs, and vinegar. Moreno is also weaving her newfound love for meditation into the business, hosting a series of virtual yoga and mindfulness classes over wine. Customers can call Dio’s new “wine hotline” (757-932-0002) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to talk to Moreno about wine preferences and suggested dinner pairings." - Tierney Plumb
"H Street is also home to 2-year-old natural wine bar Dio, which recently retooled its menu with help from local gourmet market Odd Provisions." - Tierney Plumb
"Dio owner Stacey Khoury-Diaz is committed to spreading the natural wine gospel, whether it's via orange wine from Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico or Sauvignon Blanc with notes of white pepper and fermented peaches. Scan the menu and you'll see immediately which wines come from women-owned wineries, thanks to the Venus symbol. Khoury-Diaz also puts together Women x Wine x Wednesday events monthly, showcasing an entirely "all women-made or owned" by-the-glass list. In addition to vino, Dio also serves beer, cider, cocktails, and mocktails." - Adele Chapin
"Two years after bringing sustainable wines to H Street NE, Dio Wine Bar is swapping its short lineup of bar snacks for hit items from Odd Provisions, a small gourmet market in Columbia Heights. The collaboration — dubbed Odd@Dio — will include a spicy salami sandwich with herb pesto and fennel confit, seasonal salads, cheese, and charcuterie like chicken liver mousse ($6-$9). Sonoma County native Stacey Khoury-Diaz’s homegrown wine bar debuted in 2017 with “all natural” wines, focusing on wine produced from organic or biodynamically grown grapes." - Tierney Plumb
