There's a lot of Shabu Shabu placed in the area and I saw this one show up and decided to give it a shot.
The first thing you notice when you get inside is the decorations - really great decor, in my opinion. It feels very welcoming and gives off the vibe of a "Let's eat, drink, and be merry." The server was also really cool. He chatted with us and answered any questions we may have had. We asked about the portion sizes as I was confused by the difference in sizes (essentially it breaks down to "hungry, hungrier, or hungriest"). He explained that the smallest is about 5 oz of liquid and the largest is about 10 oz of liquid. This helped a bit.
So I got the Shabu Shabu broth (large) and my wife got the spicy miso (small). Meat-wise, I got the prime rib and my wife got the dip choice cut. Just an FYI, you don't get a lot of meat - approximately 6-8 slices. Then we selected Udon and Ramen noodles for our Shabu Shabu.
The first thing that came out was the broth, which was super quick. Both broth sizes came out the same, despite the fact that my wife got a small and I got large. After the broth came out, we got our meats and the veggies. The server said we could adjust our hot plate, which would mean I had to lean over the counter as the temp gauge faces away from me - safety-wise, I would assume you would want the temp gauge facing the customer. This was weird to me, but nonetheless, I adjusted the temperature as needed to either boil the broth faster or let it cool down.
Flavorwise, my wife and I both were unimpressed with the broth. We both agreed the other Shabu Shabu places in the area had better broth. Meat wise we really couldn't tell the difference in the meats despite having different cuts. Flavor and everything tasted the same - almost as if it were the same cut.
Pricewise, I feel it's a bit pricey for what you get. Had the quality of food been better, then I could agree on the price. However, as this isn't the only Shabu Shabu place in the area, and others including the AYCE are cheaper, I'd be hard press to come back to this place.
