DiRiso Risotto Balls

More like 4.5 stars than 5. Never heard of a risotto ball, and they were delicious. We got the Ragu, Margherita, and Pesto risotto balls. They were all good. Flavors weren’t too pungent like I prefer but I wouldn’t say they lacked flavor. It was delicate. Textures were ON POINT, lovely crisp on the outside. They used grass fed beef which is a huge plus for me. The person working there was very nice as well. I only wish the price was lower based on what you get. But I’d consider this a treat

I ordered lunch to pick up from here recently and really enjoyed it. The guy working there was very friendly and personable. He waited till I arrived to heat it up so it could be hot and fresh. It only took a few minutes and it was packed nicely. I got the roasted eggplant focaccia sandwich, porcini mushroom risotto ball, and a pesto mozzarella risotto ball. Everything tasted great, especially the risotto balls. The prices are decent and I appreciated there were lots of vegetarian options. They also have coffee and pastries, including some tasty sfogliatelle. When I come back, it’ll be because of the food and the friendly vibes.

I don't normally bother with reviewing places but I think this place deserves one! I can't speak on the fridge dinner-prepped foods cause that's not really my thing, but the sandwiches and rice balls here are fantastic, definitely some of the best I've had in NY when it comes to quality. The place is pricey, which also is not usually my thing, but it's clear to me why the prices are higher than other places (besides the area), and reason being is the quality of ingredients and care put into the food. The recipes for everything are exactly as they should be, every flavor is dialed in very carefully and clearly this place is run by someone who knows Italian food like the back of their hand and has a genuine love for it. Their coffee and tiramisu is great too! They've won me over, and I am not impressed by much these days. Last but not least, the staff there are absolutely lovely. Every time I go in there are guys preparing it all with what seems to be a lot of detail and attention, and the lady who's always working the register when I'm there is doing a great job and is sweet.

I've been to a birthday party you catered for less than 30 minutes and have inhaled one pesto rice ball AND an Italian combo. Both were so lovely and tasty. I can't wait to try it all! 15/10

An interesting variety of risotto balls but we left underwhelmed. The carbonara ball had a good flavor but the bacon was super chewy - we would have preferred crispy to contrast the soft interior (3.5/5). The eggplant Parm lacked flavor, we usually love eggplant dishes but this was a miss (3/5). Our favorite thing was their health drinks - the fridge was too cold so unfortunately we had to wait for the drink to defrost but it was worth it (4.5/5).

Cute place, but not so tasty balls. Porcini and mozzarella lacked flavour, ragu was probably the best and the truffle with mushrooms was underwhelming. All balls served at different temperatures ranging from burning hot to lukewarm. Friendly service but not coming back for balls anytime soon.

Small room with counter, fridge and display. There is also a TV screen on wall. The food overall is pretty good. The risotto balls are extremely good. Don’t get me wrong. Really. The place is very good. Personal are extremely friendly and pleasant. Everything is near perfect, but something is missing. Probably, the broken ratio, value of the product/price of the product.

The sandwiches were amazing, reminded me of when I went to Rome, great quality, flavor, and very kind staff, is it pricey? A bit but I’d definitely say worth it! Can’t wait to come back again and try different sandwiches! Only came because my partner and I bought pesto sauce from a farmers market up in Beacon!

Amazing sandwiches and rice balls. Anytime I am up here I will stop by. Service is user friendly. The ambiance feels like a trendy little spot in lower Manhattan. Loved it! Best balls in NY!

The Sleepy Hollow farmer's market has plenty of food options for lunch. However I wasn't passing by DiRiso's m. It's hard to find rice balls in general, let alone good ones, so I picked some up for lunch as well as sandwiches. I had a bit of sticker shock at the register (like $45 for 2 sandwiches, 2 balls, and a sfogliatelle), but I shouldered on. Got the soppresata sandwich on homemade ciabatta. This was a better sandwich than it looked at first. The bread really made it; clearly homemade, it almost tasted like 2 slices of cheese Roman pizza Bianca. The soppresata, mozzarella, roasted red pepper and arugula was about as well balanced as could be. Wish it was a bit bigger, but the quality hit the spot. The traditional rice ball was one of the best I've had anywhere. I can see why they specialize in it; had a good ratio of meat to rice, great tomato flavor packed in, and perfectly fried. Mushroom rice ball was packed with mushroom flavor, although that's not my thing so it wasn't my favorite. Sfogliatelle was pretty damned good too. It's worth it to pay for quality. I can see why these guys have a storefront in Hastings in addition to their farm stands. This food is worth traveling for although it's awesome to have it by home.

I just happened to pass by at the Irvington Farmer's market last week, and I needed some fresh mozzarella for that night's dinner. I ended up bringing home two savory muffins and two sfogliatelle. The muffins are a total game changer. So delicious. One half makes a great light meal with some salad on the side. And the sfogliatelle are the best I have EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. Now that I know that they have a store in Hastings and that they cater as well-- all I can say is plans are afoot to try everything that the offer.

I tried diRiso for lunch today and very happy I did. Will definitely be back. Tried a ragu risotto ball & a prosciutto sandwich. Both were amazing. The sandwich was served on fresh, crisp bread with truffle oil, mozzarella, and peppers and was as close to perfect as a sandwich can be. The risotto ball was pretty huge and was also crisp and delicious. Definitely the best I've ever had. Service was friendly and fast too. Overall great experience. I'm including a pic but it doesn't really do either item justice - including mainly to show how big the risotto balls are.

Amazing little Italian place, looks like the owners really put their heart into this little lunch spot and I would recommend it to anyone. Amazing sandwiches and ever changing items. Sounds like soups and calzone may be available in the future, can't wait. The sandwich game is really top-notch here. Appreciate the authenticity as well.

diRiso! iL Meglio! Just popped by to grab two focaccia sandwiches. Super fresh and Delicioso! Spent some time chatting with Matteo, and Peter over a fabulous espresso. On you way to the Metro North in the am? stop and grab an espresso you'd swear you were in Milano! diRiso is a great addition to the Hastings food scene. I'll be back tomorrow for some risotto balls. Grazie! My new friends!

DiRiso is not only home to the absolute best home-made Italian food in the Hudson Valley, extremely reasonable prices, a great location and in-store ambience, but it is also the place to go for a gastronomic experience that will offer you the special something that we all need, but which very few places still are able to offer - Love. Love is the major emanating taste one has after biting into any of their exquisite arancinis, breads, cheeses, sandwiches, lasagnas, etc. After sipping their coffee, of course you can taste that beautiful, smokey flavor found only in the finest grinds the world has to offer, but you also get the sense that this establishment is run by people who actually care. They care about how the arugula is layered over the prosciutto. They care about how the mozzarella melts around the porcini. They care about how your bag is packaged and how you feel when you walk out the door. The reason I Love DiRiso, and that I've been going there for years, is because I know that when I arrive, not only will I be treated as a valued customer, but also that I will be treated like I am one of their own, like a member of the famiglia.

We really liked the risotto balls! Definitely would return and try other flavors and their focaccia. Great little place to check out!

Arancini and Lasagna are spectacular. We've been enjoying them for years at the farmer's market. So excited for the new location. And cornetti! con un cafe sarebbe perfetto.

Had the best sandwich I've had in a looooong time! I had one a few months ago, and it stayed on my mind, went back and didn't seem to find it, swung by yesterday, ...Lo & behold it was there ... waiting for me! Okay, not a fan of eggplant, so ignored the one that included it, but the other .....heaven, soft ciabatta, crisp Arugula, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, roasted peppers, drizzled olive oil & a sprinkle of salt....perfection! Unsure why they offered to warm it up...this works as is! This was soooo damn good! I know when I like something when I think of recreating it at home, how I cld improve upon it,...or darn it -just thinking about going back for another! Next time gotta try the pesto or cannoli!

It must be tough to run a pastry shop and keep things fresh. Good - sphogliatelle - must have been made recently. Bad - little donuts - almost inedible bc dough was old - guessing that they were not made the day we bought and probably a few days old, IMO. We bought 4 and wished they put up a sign so we knew we were paying $$ for old food. It doesn't take much to not disappoint people. Just feel like We were ripped off. Good luck and I suggest trying elsewhere. Maybe they really just cater to those who want to buy the frozen food. FYI, those can go bad as well.

Passing through Hastings on Hudson and happened upon this lovely, little establishment. We had a wonderful conversation with the owner while enjoying the most incredible sfogliatta and homemade juice. Definitely worth a trip and we will be back!

I'm not really sure why I waited as long as I did to have these risotto balls again. Initially, I tried them out in the Spring of 2018. I tried the "diRagu" with sweet sausage and beef ragu and it was absolutely bursting with flavor. I don't think I've ever had a risotto ball taste this good even in a restaurant. These were instantly addictive. Next one I tried was the pesto risotto ball and it was another winner. Hands down my favorite diRiso makes. I cannot recommend these risotto balls any more than giving them 5 stars in this review. Fast forward nearly a year later and I happily came across paths with Matteo again (he's the master behind all this goodness) and not only are his risotto balls still unbelievably unbelievable but he's also added panzerotti to the menu. These are a MUST HAVE! If you're not familiar with them they're similar to a calzone and have delicious stuffing. So much flavor it's crazy. Do yourself a favor and seek out diRiso for some delicious italian food. Matteo not only has the skills to dole out good food but you can taste that there's love and pride in what he does. Eat these. Immediately.

I purchase items from our local farmers market. Everything is delicious. The eggplant parm and mushroom lasagna is fabulous. They know what they're doing!

Mindblowingly good sfogliatelle! Crispy on the outside and delicately soft and flavorful inside. Probably the best one I've had so far (and I've had plenty of pretty good ones) and definitely worth a try. Totally surprised as it was an unusual pick for us at this risotto ball food stall on the UWS. Now I have to try all their other stuff if it's as good as this. Lol. Excellent!

Some of the best risotto I have had. The homemade flavor reminds me of my trip to Italy. The staff is very polite and welcoming too. Overall highly recommend this to anyone. The only downside is that they aren't available at Whole Foods!

The best rissoto balls I have ever had. Also had the lasagna which was amazing. Incredible food and it's homemade locally by New Yorkers. It definitely has soul, would recommend to everyone. 10/10 !!!
