Delicious breakfast options, Bloody Mary’s and great service! It’s a bar/restaurant and 21 and over only allowed. Fun vibe with old black and white vintage prohibition photos. Recommend the pork verde Benedict and the biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was light and gravy was perfectly balanced with flavor and not heavy at all. The spicy Bloody Mary came with bacon and veggies and was more flavorful than hot, the way I like it. Visiting with friends that took us here so it was a fun group experience.

We heard about it in TV and it was highly recommended, so decided to try it. We had the fish and chips - it was a little spicy, but the fries and sauces were yummy! Also had the black bean burger, it was really big with lots of toppings on it, great presentation but it lacked flavor. It’s a typical dive bar inside, nothing fancy in a popular neighborhood. Parked about a block away in a residential area. Nice staff, not overly friendly.

What a gem this place is right in Tacoma. We were just checking this place out as we saw some good reviews on a website. Let me tell you they were all true and their food, service, and vibe are outstanding. The food is delicious and servings large enough to feed two people. Come and see them you will leave with a smile on your face and battling food coma it is that good. Beers and other drinks are ice cold and compliments the food great.

Following another exciting 90 minutes of what ended up turning into a physical torture session instead of therapy, it was off on a new dining adventure. We had driven by Dirty Oscar’s in our dining search. Today was the day we decided to see what they were all about. There is a huge sign as you enter saying you must be 21 and you must show ID. Sadly, neither Ray nor I were carded which I suppose must mean we do look old enough for them to be positive we are above legal drinking age. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Menus and drink specials were left for us to peruse while the bartender attended to other customers. Breakfast is served all day and there was more than one option which caught my eye. Ditto with lunch but I decided on breakfast, specifically chicken and waffles. The waffle comes stuffed with bacon, sweet seasoned butter, syrup and three pieces of chicken. The pieces are a breast, thigh and drumstick. I asked if I could substitute the thigh and drumstick for two chicken wings. I was told no but I could have two chicken breasts. SCORE!!!! Oh yeah!!! Order placed!!! Ray ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. He opted for the Rosemary fries, over regular fries, which cost $1 more. We both ordered coffee. We were happy to wait while a fresh pot was made. Our food arrived and WOW!!! My chicken breasts were huge, boneless with a tasty, crunchy, slightly warm (spicy) coating, and lightly dusted with powdered sugar. I was a little skeptical of the powdered sugar but it was a beautiful enhancement!! The chicken was tender and juicy. The waffle was loaded with bacon, and was still light and crispy. I requested a second plate so I could move my chicken and butter and cover my waffle with syrup. The plate wasn’t big enough or the chicken was too big to move to the side. Both were acceptable dilemmas. I was only able to eat one of the breasts. I took the other one home. Ray’s sandwich had good flavor but was a little on the dry side due to a lack of au jus or condiments. The fries were thick and crispy but Ray learned Rosemary is not necessarily his liking. I tried to talk him into ordering the Garlic Parmesan fries but he passed, regretfully. He ate the other half of his sandwich for dinner last night. I made up a horseradish, mayonnaise mixture for him to use, and he said that worked well. The bartender was friendly, attentive and cheery as she greeted and waited on everyone. Our food was excellent, and I personally complimented the cook for my meal. We will definitely return!!! The dilemma will be whether I venture into a different menu option or stay with the chicken and waffle. Another good dilemma.

We had the best time here!! Food was absolutely delicious and our server Courtney kept us laughing and happy. 10/10 would come here again.

Had this place on my list for a while, and after going, I'm sorry I waited so long. First off the food is phenomenal. Everything is made in house including dressings and even their tater tots (which are stuffed). But even better then the food is the service, the guy that served us Friday later afternoon was a delight. I missed is name, but you can tell he cares about his customers, and loves his job. The prices are a little more expensive, but it's all homemade and inhouse, so I will pay extra for that. Really enjoyed the NA beer with my burger too. Over all a 10 out of 10 experience.

Food and Bloody Mary's were excellent! The wooden chairs not so much. Overall a great place! I will definitely. Be back.

Google
This bar has some amazing food!!! I feel like they could go big if they were able to serve food to family's. I've been to Rosco's in so cal and my fried chicken and waffles was pretty dang comparable. Their brunch menu of food and adult beverages was so fun to read through, I had trouble deciding what to get, with options of the lighter side and options that would bite the hair available. My bloody Mary was the perfect spice I had asked for. Beers and ciders on tap. Full bar. Handicap accessible. Friendly atmosphere and clean tables.

Yelp
I've lived in the Tacoma ish area for almost four years now and have heard so many rave things about DOA - I finally just recently made it in, and I've definitely been missing out! From what I've heard, DOA used to be kind of rowdy and more of a bar scene. Now it seems they've leaned in more to the restaurant side, because they close at 10pm and it seemed really tame when I was in, with mostly couples in for a meal and just a couple people at the bar. Our waitress was super nice and they were quick with all of our orders. My friends and I decided to make a TikTok with our drinks (LOL) and one of my friends spilled one of her margs from her margarita flight and the waitress was super sweet and replaced it at no cost. So my friends got the marg flight and they both said it was super good (I tried a couple of sips and can confirm) while I got my usual hazy IPA. Nice local options for that as well. Both of my friends got the Down & Dirty Burgers which they praised, and I got the Blackened Chicken Cobb sans bleu cheese and tomatoes. When I tell you this salad SLAAPPPEDD, I mean it with my whole chest. The chicken was seasoned and cooked SO well. The rest of the salad overall tasted so fresh and their ranch is superb. 10/10. So glad I finally made it in to this local legend and can't wait to come back for that salad again!

Yelp
Came here because my sweetie remembered this as a great place for happy hour and eats. There is no more happy hour and we were going to try a dessert but they had no vanilla ice cream not already pre-made for another dessert. This was an amazing place and we hope it returns to its roots.

Yelp
I wanted to read it 4 stars for being 21 and up only. This only means I have to get a babysitter for my kid in order to come. But every time I've gotten a babysitter it's worth it!! The brunch cheesy tots with sausage gravy are what dreams are made of. This could possibly be the singular reason to go. However, the drinks are fabulous, all of the other food is amazing, and the staff is great. I've been many times for brunch and dinner and I've never had a single complaint about the food. No one I've been with has ever had a complaint about the food or service. The atmosphere is a lot of fun! Especially with the jukebox! They usually have some event, something going on, to keep things interesting. It's usually crowded, but the weight is never long. There's lots of seating inside the restaurant, but especially around the bar. I'm always happy when I get a chance to go to Dirty Oscars!

Yelp
My mom and boyfriend love this place, but I'm not a big fan of greasy diner style breakfasts, so this place doesn't really do it for me. Especially since, after trying to order something than an enormous plate of eggs, the brussel sprouts were overcooked and drenched in too much balsamic vinegar. I've got to stop ordering brussel sprouts. Every place offers them now, but then they don't put any love into them. However -- and this is a big HOWEVER -- you can get a flight of mimosas at Dirty Oscars and I am totally down for that.
google avatar

Yelp
I ate here yesterday for brunch with a friend. I made a reservation which really wasn't needed as it was somewhat busy but nowhere near capacity. Upon our arrival, we were greeted and seated quickly and given menus. We both opted for the mimosa flight to start us off. The mimosas were more juice-based than champagne-based which is not my preference, but they were still tasty. My friend ordered the French toast as her entree while I ordered the monte cristo. Both were extremely tasty and had some unique flavors. The portions were huge, and we both ended up taking about half of of our meals to go. Service was pretty solid as our server checked in on us a few times and made recommendations. The spot is more of a dive bar than a restaurant, but it was clean, and they were showing one of the Harry Potter films so they get extra points in my book. I'll definitely return to try some of the other items on the menu!

Yelp
Nice ambiance not too busy for a Friday morning. Good coffee friendly stuff. Food looks good. Husband got the Steak burrito, said it was good but the skirt steak could use a marinade or something. I ordered the Chicken in a Biscuit. It looked great and for the most part it was good. Chicken was cooked perfectly and well seasoned biscuit as well but whoever made the gravy this morning was very heavy handed with the pepper. It was about all you could taste. Very disappointing. There are plenty of other things on their menu I'd menu that I'd love to try though.

Yelp
John remembered me from last week! Trying the fish and chips today, but will do a review of the steak I had last week. A pleasant woman took my order of the New York Steak Frites with a salad. Salad was fresh The steak was nicely seasoned and cooked medium rare as requested. The fries were so good, I ate every one. Had another Black Raven Pilsner. I was so full, I skipped dessert.

Yelp
Hadn't been here for a few years so it was time .....place is a bit on the noisy side when busy and that's without kids!21+ only.Opted for the tri tip dip with rosemary fries. Our server is a relatively new employee.Friendly, polite and informative. My partner had a made in house black bean burger.Big honking thing!Apparently a lot to offer at DOA is made in house.Thought the fries were,as they were so good.My dip didn't disappoint.Lots of flavour.Au jus tasty for dunking.Place has full bar, eight beer handles, several TV's and pipped in music.Innovative menu...not your usual pub grub.Should come here more often!

Yelp
Went to DOA on recommendation of friends. Yes it's a bar but according to the friends, it's a good place for breakfast. 21 and older only, and it looks like it belongs on DDD. However the experience versus the recommendation are not even close. The server was awesome and helpful. She alone gets a "5". But the food is where it falls off the table. We got the Chicken in Biscuit and the Elk Hash. First the Chicken in Biscuit - a biscuit that was harder than the rocks on Mt. Rainer, dryer than Death Valley. The chicken was no better as it was over cooked and not flavorful at all. The Sausage Gravy was cold and flavorless. Over all this dish lacked seasoning period and no amount of salt or pepper helped. And this was a dish we were told was a favorite of customers. The Elk hash - not one granule of seasoning that I could find. It was flavorless period, again not hot sausage gravy and the Elk (?) was not very good either. The sunny egg was the only thing I ate I could say was good, but $22 for an enjoyable egg is a bit much. To recap, food was underwhelming in any favor profile, over cooked and extremely under seasoned as I would have need my whole spice rack to even begin to get a flavor profile. The Biscuit and chucked were over cooked. Would I return? Do not think so. Would or do I recommend? Me thinks not, sorry.

Yelp
Argh. What to say. We have been to Dirty Oscar's four times but only eaten there twice. We really enjoyed the food. The drinks are really good. I recommend the Diablo scramble. The last time we stopped in to eat, the place was absolutely freezing. All the Patrons had their coats on. We asked the server if the heat was working and she said it was. We sat at the bar and it was ice cold. None of the bartenders greeted us or acknowledged that we had sat down. After about ten minutes of freezing and not being greeted we decided to leave. The time before that we decided to leave because we couldn't get any service. We always go out of our way to stop by because the food and drinks are so good. However, I don't think we will be back for a while. At least until the service improves.

Yelp
Tried Dirty Oscar's twice. I will not try it a third time. Ordered the chicken and waffle, it was just bad! The waitress was great, but the food was just bad. The place hold's its name correctly, "Dirty Oscar." Go for the drinks, not for the food.

Yelp
This is my second time coming here and was disappointed. The tots were the best thing. I had the biscuits and gravy but the biscuits were burnt after I was like why does the biscuits taste like char. The gravy too peppery and the country potatoes were plain...no onions or green peppers, nothing. So it was disappointing from my last visit they were busy so service was so-so. Saw out only twice to order the food and to give us the check.

Yelp
I think my most favorite part of this visit was Yessly. Amazing bartender and absolutely one of the most personable individuals I have ever encountered. Her Michelada was the most extraordinary one I have ever had. Thank the good Lord we had no wait time and sat right at the bar. Yessly was so accommodating and friendly. The place was hopping and people were happy. I had my usual biscuits and gravy. They were good and the biscuits meaty. Not the best I have ever had, but good. DOA as it is called is a spacious bar with plenty of seating, cool atmosphere. Very impressed!

Yelp
We had heard good reviews of Dirty Oscar's so decided to try it for lunch. When we walked in we noticed that for a noon lunch there were hardly any people in there. The server seated us and brought us menus. We found the service to be slow but attributed that to the kitchen. We ordered a Reuben, hamburger, onion rings, fries and iced tea. When the order finally came the Reuben was burnt to a crisp, the onion rings were hard as a rock, the hamburger was practically raw. It was hard to find the corned beef and what there was was dry and hard. The only good part of the meal were the French fries. Their sauce was supposed to be a Smokey tomato but it was neither and had an odd flavor. Would we go back, no. Would we recommend it, no. We have attached a picture of what they call a Reuben and the hamburger. The server was nice.

Yelp
The only bad thing I can say about our experience today is that it was fricken freezing inside the restaurant! The food came out hot, but you had to rush if you like hot food as I do. Half way through our meal, everyone's food was getting cold and the sausage gravy was getting sticky. The service was 100% courteous and personable! I had the chicken and waffles. The waffle comes with bacon bits cooked inside and the chicken pieces are battered with one each thigh, breast, and leg. It was dang awesome! My wife had the fish tacos and they were to die for as well! The only thing I could argue is that they do not tell you what kind I fish are in the tacos. Would I go back, yes! I plan to try the hash next. See you soon!

Yelp
Brunch here was incredible! No wait to be seated and food and drinks came incredibly fast. Get. The. Totchos. They were the highlight! The stuffed pancakes and steak breakfast burrito were also fantastic. Very laid back vibe inside. Would absolutely go back!!!

Yelp
Oscar, you did us dirty. Ordered Tasso quesadillas, got some kind of pulled pork with uncooked green and red bell pepper slices and grocery store level pico de gallo. Also ordered shrimp and grits which was like oil soup with unseasoned Quaker grits in the middle with a few warmed up Lowry's seasoned shrimps. My shoes stuck to the floor. Our waiter was awesome and I want to thank him for being normal and cool, which was a relief compared to the other staff member who was talking about sticking her spit covered finger in someone's ear...loudly. Obviously they're doing something well to be this popular, but it's not for me.

Barton H.

Yelp
I've never seen a more dysfunctional restaurant in my life. The staff is just not in sync at all. Our chicken wings were honestly terrible and the place isn't busy and it takes forever to get anything from anybody. Maybe it's an off day, I don't know, but I can tell you I would never come back here again. There's just too many great Alternatives and to be so poorly run and have mediocre food just doesn't seem to work for me.

Yelp
Coning again to visit from California, this was my 3rd time here for brunch! The last two times I got the Chicken & Waffles (superb), and decided to get something different this time. I got the Waffle Monte Cristo, which is stuffed with REAL ham, bacon, 2 kinds of cheese and berry jam, topped with two "easy" eggs and syrup. My Gods, it was a lot of food and delicious! My daughter got her favorite, The Colonel's Hash, which is chunks of fried chicken, onions, cheese, sour cream and sausage gravy. We could hardly walk out! Amazing food, super nice staff, and ROCK AND ROLL! YEAH!
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Came here based on all the good reviews and it did not disappoint! I ordered the Twisted Ruben and my girlfriend ordered the Tosso Tacos. Both meals were super delicious and had a unique spin on them. Carina was our server and was very attentive and helpful. Will definitely be back to try out more of the dishes. They had a great tap selection. Beers / ciders were ice cold.

Kayla O.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant I've tried since moving to Tacoma! Awesome menu options and great food.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Food was delicious so no complaints there. But our server was a hot mess. I don't know if she was new but her awkward personality and lack of knowledge for the menu created a pretty bad experience. When seated by host we were not acknowledged for almost 15 min. When she finally came to our table she gave some excuse that she didn't know they seated us there. That's not our fault. The restaurant was half empty so no reason why there should have been a delay. I think she was trying her best but it just wasn't an overal great experience. Glad you can at-least count on the cooks to deliver solid food. Would go back and probably just sit in the bar. Restaurant portion has work to do.

Yelp
On 5/17/24, I visited Dirty Oscar's Annex in Tacoma, Washington, "A Moonshine Bar with Great Eats." This is a 21+ Only business with a Prohibition theme. I ordered the crabcakes. CRAB CAKES ($19) Housemade Crab Cakes | Red Pepper | Green Onion Garlic | Panko | Coconut Jalapeno Tartar | Side Salad The plating was surprising, to say the least. It makes no sense to serve a tiny appetizer on a rectangular plate that emphasizes how meager the portion is. When I inquired about the side salad, my attention was directed to the naked arugula leaves beneath my crabcakes. The crabcakes were average at best. The service was good. I would return again to try the Tasso tacos, which has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives.

Yelp
Came in around 8:30pm on a Saturday. I had to park a block or so down by a Chapel although not too bad of a walk. Moderately busy, got the food fairly fast. We got The Edge flatbread.. amazing. I ordered coffee which was just drip coffee, pretty good. The biscuits and gravy was good as well. Biscuits weren't dry and gravy was darker than I imagined but I was delighted. The Ruben was yummy as well.. a little too crunchy on the bread but it held nicely. Fries were regular. The ice water they give tastes clean as well. They give hot sauces to use as well and they are all very tastey. The bathroom was better than most places as well. Good playlist playing.

Yelp
Food was fantastic and fresh at Dirty Oscar's! Highly recommend. Service was quick and attentive. Vibe is typical bar or "pub". We shared the Parmesan tots- so delicious!! I had the dirty chicken sandwich, really good. Food was excellent. I didn't try any cocktails but my friend's mimosa looked pretty good!

Teressa S.

Yelp
Came here this morning and arrived around 11a. We were seated right away, but waited more than 15 minutes for someone to bring us water. We then waited about another 10 minutes before someone came to take our order. We did order drinks, but never received them. I ordered a Bloody Mary and my partner a cranberry juice. Our food came and still no drinks. Worst part is there were only 4 other people in here besides us totaling 3 tables. The food was good but the overall service was not what we expected with it being this slow. Kimberly was our server and she was a sweet girl, but needs a lot of improvement in multitasking. She did come back about 20 minutes after we received our food and asked if we ordered drinks, as she apparently forgot. As we were done with our food we asked her to remove the items from our bill. Our bill came and brought out our payment right away and after another 15 minutes came back to finally run our card. Even though the food was good we will probably not be returning.

Yelp
Solid food, lots of seating. Knowledgeable, but slightly inattentive service. Serving sizes were pretty good for the price.

Hannah M.

Yelp
Dirty Oscar's great food makes up for their terrible service. Went here today for my second time ever for brunch and would highly recommend solely for their food. Menu has some unique options, flavors are fantastic, and portions are generous. Would recommend the chicken & waffles - literally the best I've ever had. As for service, the theme seems to be slow and inattentive. Between the two times that I've been here, we've had drinks never show up, wrong checks dropped to our table, utensils not given out until someone has to get up and ask, no napkins, etc. As someone that has worked in the industry for multiple years, avoiding eye contact with your tables while you're all gathered chatting near the bar isn't the move. Back of house: keep doing what you're doing! You are absolutely killing it. Management: Get more involved with what's happening on your floor during a Sunday brunch.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast on Saturday and I can see why this place is always so busy! Food was inventive and delicious! Wish I wasn't working that day and I could have tried a cocktail.
google avatar

Yelp
I was so surprised at how good the fish tacos were and how robust the menu is! I can't wait to go back. It definitely has a dive bar feel but man, the food sure did pleasantly surprise me and our server was super friendly!

Yelp
Food was good - we had the crab cakes egg Benedict which was a good quality but not my cup of tea. My wife loved it. I thought it was expensive. We were surprised at the good service though since all the other reviews tagged them for that.

Yelp
Don't let name Dirty Oscars Annex fool you, it is not a cheap night club to visit if in the Tacoma Washington area. The best way to describe the vibe of this restaurant is a brunch pub. There is a bar, and they serve awesome brunch food. There are plenty of options to satisfy the pickiest of eaters to someone more adventurous. I started off with a hot cup of coffee, I cannot confirm if the coffee was locally sourced or not, but it was a delicious cup of coffee brewed to the perfect strength. I paired the with an order of their pork Verde benedict. I always like to try eggs benedict at as many places as I can, and these did not disappoint. They are served with a smokey pulled pork, that taste like time and attention was put into smoking the pork. The pulled pork was placed on top of a fluffy English muffin and some fresh onions and other veggies for a nice touch. All topped off with a poached egg and a yummy hollandaise sauce. The crispy home fries that were served on the side made the perfect partner for mopping up the hollandaise and runny egg. I also ordered a biscuit and gravy, to get a feel of a couple of the menu items. This was not as much a hit as the egg benedict. Everything was prepared well, temperature and consistency of the gravy. It was just really lacking in the flavor department. I did not have the same excitement to finish this dish as much as everything else I received. Overall Dirty Oscars is a great spot to grab a quick bite with some friends or even solo. The staff was very attentive and very inviting. I will for sure come back if in the area or recommend to a friend to check them out. Visited on 21 May 2023

Yelp
Been here a few times now and overdue for a review!! Ok first of all the drinks all around (sparkling wine and juice for mimosas) is amazing, and you get 10% off food purchases with it. What's not to like? On weekends - get a reservation, because this place can get busy! I had the hipster Benedict one day and the veggie scramble another day - both were fresh and delicious! Service was fantastic, even if they are busy, they still make time to stop by and let you know that it's going to be a few. I prefer that to just sitting and feeling ignored. Thank you! Had a great experience today - and noticed the bartender was pulling a double duty as it appeared they didn't have a server on when we arrived. He rocked it though. Kudos to him! I love the scene, it's a little dark, but still feels cozy. Can't wait to return! Cheers!

Yelp
I lalalooooove this spot. Went frequently, prior the fire, which caused them to temporarily close. We have been enjoying DOA since they reopened. I, absolutely, appreciate the fact that it is 21 & over, because I prefer NOT deal with fricking kids!! Their chicken & waffles have never disappointed.

Yelp
Food was okay.. the potatoes I ordered with my breakfast were old and couldn't get a fork in them

Yelp
front of house provides excellent service. food is lackluster, veggies more raw than cooked, steak was greyed instead of browned, overall lacking flavor unless the bite contained salsa. gravy was good in the past, this batch was mid. overall classic bar breakfast vibe, kept clean. service is great, food was below mid

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place, even after reading recent reviews. Unfortunately, everything fell flat. The server was all over the place, manning the bar and tables around it. I wanted a coffee but had a feeling that refills would be sparse so I waited it out. Waited long I should say. She took our order, food came out average speed and she checked in with us so I had high hopes we would be able to just give her money and go. But nope. I had to chase her down eventually and finally get the bill, at that point we just wanted to get out of there. Foodwise, again, high hopes. I got the totchos because, hello, totchos and unfortunately it all lacked flavor. I even had bison on I and it didn't seem to add any pizazz which is downright depressing. I love leftovers and took mine home but ended up throwing it away since the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I would pass on coming here, even as delicious as their menu sounds.

Yelp
Went here today for brunch. The food was SO good. We ended up getting The Overload, Smoked Pork Tachos, and Bacon Candy. Also tried some drinks, but forgot to photo them. Everything was incredible! The Overload is perfect for the person who never knows what to choose at a restaurant. The fried chicken was definitely the best part, we both agreed. The breading is light and flavorful. The gravy has a specific seasoning that I couldn't determine, but is familiar and really gives the dish an edge. The waffle was sweet and the perfect consistency. The Smoked Pork Tachos were also delicious. The house made tater tots were crispy and massive! The pork was VERY smoky. Could be a bit too much for some people, but those who love Smokey meat, this is for you. Candy bacon? Enough said. Salty, sweet, perfection. Service was great. Server was prompt, respectful, and knew the menu well. As far as the restaurant goes, there was a bit of grease smoke in the air as the kitchen is open to the dining area. And it was a bit loud. Overall, nothing that would deter me from coming back.

Yelp
Listen Up!! Check what I am saying I have never and will never be a hater! So I will start off with the good. I have been to Dirty Oscar's many times over the years and I have always received great service as far as the waitress goes. Last week was no different. However, the food was not their best. I ordered the Baja shrimp tacos. Very bland seasoning and the shrimp had a gray uncooked color. The shrimp was gooey in texture. The order comes with 3 tacos. I ate one and left the other two completely alone. My waitress saw I didn't eat them.... and ask if I had a problem I told her and yet, they never offered to refund or replace the order. But, they made sure to charge me full price. Next, I ordered the tots and it was long tator tots filled with cheese I guess it was not right. I ate two of them and they left me feeling dissatisfied. Next, we had the naked wings. These wings were good. No complaints. I don't like sauce but, they were tender and hot! Lastly, we had moonshine shots. I had two. I chose peach flavor. I thought the taste was good but, it was not peach. I was left hungry and embarrassed as I took a guess with me. I was bragging on Dirty Oscar's only to be let down. Usually I take pictures but, it wasn't in me for this food. I was polite and for the record I do not believe in trashing people establishments and causing a scene.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I have been coming to DOA for years and years. I moved away from PNW and when I would visit I HAD to come for breakfast. I am very familiar with the food, prices and service - why I am a long time customer. I visited last Friday 7/19/24 the place was very empty (unusual) and I didn't recognize any of the usual staff. We sat down and ordered and it took about 20+min or more for our order. Not too big of a deal b/c we were there because my son was in town with his GF and it was just to socialize and enjoy good food. Unfortunately we only got 1/2 of that. The server was nice, she was new. I commented on the new glassware (I liked it) and new menus w increased prices. Again not a big deal just commented on it, I'm ordering the same thing regardless because I LOVE IT. Got our food and mine was just so so. I really miss the shredded hashbrowns w chilulua (sp?) because they don't have either anymore. They also brought back plastic straws, even tho it's terrible for environment I love them. Just a comment to you readers not to them. Bill came and it was $106 with no alcohol and 2 drinks. When I paid the waitress cash $125 she asked if I wanted a box b/c I only ate 1/2 and I said no. She persisted in asking if it was okay and I said just okay. She wanted to know specifically so I said "I'm not telling this to get a discount or anything, I'm paying cash but I'm telling you because you asked and maybe it will make next time better for me and others" I was in a rush, I didn't expect it to take so long so I quickly explained that the holandaise on my hipster was not very good, not sure why maybe too much lemon idk but def not the usual deliciousness. Also the cheese is kind of different it's still fresh mozzarella but served diff than it used to be. I had to leave and she said she wanted to get the manager. I explained I had to go but my son, his GF and mother could give anymore details they needed - I already paid so whatever I left. When they got home about 20 min later they were upset because apparently the manager came over and when my mother brought up the hashbrowns her response was "I checked your ID when you arrived, you aren't old enough to have even had the shredded hash browns. We haven't had those for like 10 years" 1) I would bring him takeout all the time so he did have the shredded hashbrowns 2) what kind of bs response is that? It's not true DOA had them during the pandemic and changed them due to "staffing" is what they told me. It was too time intensive and when I inquired after the pandemic they said they wouldn't be bringing them back. Okay but the managers response was not the usual customer service I am used to from there. The bad food I would have gotten over but the managers response really upset me because I have been a long time customer. Anyhow, several of my friends had said don't take your son there because they've changed and not as good, but I am (WAS) a very loyal DOA fan. Now I don't know if I will return which makes me very sad. Too bad a fan favorite had to turn so much just a simple I'm sorry would have been sufficient and maybe to let the cooks know. I didn't ask for anything free or discounted was merely sharing my opinion because the waitress asked. A very disappointed hipster Benedict lover. Oh I did pull up an old picture I had posted form 2020 that King5 actually reposted and shared at the time and looked there shredded freaking hashbrowns I didn't make that up. I really was a huge fan and told everyone I knew how delicious it was and sang the praises for the good food and service.

Yelp
Today we dined at Dirty Oscar's and had an incredibly disappointing experience due to the unthoughtful and unprofessional service, mind you -- the place isn't even as busy to have such poor quality of service. The food is mid, if you ask for over medium eggs be ready to get over easy, and you'll always have to ask the waiter for a refill on drinks. THE CRAZY PART WAS, my friend ordered the shrimp & grits and simply requested "no cheese" due to dietary restrictions. Instead of informing us that the grits were pre-made with cheese and offering an alternative dish, the manager made the baffling decision to serve only the toppings (shrimp with gravy) and left out the grits. The manager's approach is givingggggg DUMB and unacceptable. A competent establishment should clearly communicate with customers about their ability to accommodate special requests. In this case, the PROPER response would have been to inform us that the dish could not be modified and suggest other options from the menu. The whole front house staff severely lacks professionalism and consideration for customer satisfaction. I URGE Dirty Oscar's to improve their service and training to prevent lazy individuals from working there. Until then, I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Yelp
I love the variety they have on the menu. Everything I've had there is so delicious. I took co-workers from California there and they loved it as well.

Yelp
I visited this spot for the first time randomly on Thursday. It was a chill vibe and the bartender Courtney was such a joy, so friendly, and was super helpful while I was deciding what to eat. Got the steak and frites and my goodness it was so yummy. Perfectly cooked too. I'll definitely be visiting again next time I'm in Tacoma.

Yelp
Unfortunately we went here for breakfast this morning. The service at this dark, musty dump is some of the worst we have ever had and we will not be coming back. Our waitress acted like she was annoyed and could care less about delivering good service. Also if you happen to use cash, you are hereby warned that they will rob your change because they "don't do change" despite the receipt saying you are owed change. Compounding the outrageously terrible service, the food itself is mediocre to terrible. My wife ordered the "traditional eggs Benedict" and I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken on my dish was quite bland and unseasoned. The waffle, which is the easiest part of the dish to make, was just okay with the bacon in it. Definitely not worth coming here and getting your change stiffed from ya without warning. My wife's "Benedict" was anything but traditional and was the worst dish of the day. The hollandaise was not a velvety, decadent, tangy sauce. It was obvious that they didn't use butter and it was literally just egg yolks spilled over some overcooked, non runny "over easy eggs" and ham. The breakfast potatoes were not cooked enough. Just horrible. Just do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. The food sucks as well as the service.

Yelp
Love going here great food music atmosphere and amazing people. Service is great and my best suggestion is to visit in the slow hours for the best restaurants services. Food is top tier and the drinks are great as well.

Yelp
I've loved this place for a decade; the famous parmesan tots alone make it worth the trip! Unfortunately the recipe seems to have changed and at my last visit I found them doughy and textureless with what seemed to be a lower volume of cheese and potato, and a much higher volume of flour. Completely different than previous years, and not something I would order again. I'd venture to guess this was an attempt at cost saving, but you can't improve on perfection! Please bring back the old recipe!!! Service and food has been consistently good, but I won't be back nearly as often if the recipe doesn't change back.

Yelp
Diablo Omelete The omelete in itself was pretty good lacked flavor but I guess that's what the green sauce was for. The waffle was perfectly prepared. I was able to finish off the omelette but the platter came with a generous amount of perfectly crisped potatoes that I took home for later. Best waitress I've ever had. She was so kind and did a great job of explaining the menu. I'll have to stop by while the breakfast menu is served next time for more options to choose from.
