"Owner and developer Chris Foley recently signed a lease to take over an additional 14,000 square feet at the address. Specifically, he’s got the keys to two very ambitious now-closed restaurants: Dirty Water and Bon Marche." - Carolyn Alburger

"Today is the last call for ambitious bar/restaurant Dirty Water, which closes for good tomorrow. The 200-seat, 6,252 square foot dining and drinking den opened in June 2015 at 1355 Market Street (on the ground floor of the Twitter building) with a whopping 52 beers and 114 wines on tap plus “paleo friendly” food and lots of whiskey (a spirit nicknamed dirty water in pre-prohibition years, hence the bar’s vaguely unsanitary name). Dirty Water reportedly took more than two years and $4 million to develop, and for owners, was a labor of love. It arrived just after — and long outlived — its neighbor Bon Marché, which had similarly grand plans but shut down in short order in a slew of area closures (think Cadence and Oro, among others). But, for three years at least, Dirty Water managed to hold on." - Caleb Pershan

We came here for brunch on a Saturday. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Given its location, I imagine this place is busiest on weekdays after work. On Saturday, it had more customers than I expected but still plenty of capacity - so a good place if you fancy brunch but don't want to wait for ages. The food itself was ok - a bit too much fried stuff for my taste, but the sort of menu that goes well with a drinks-forward place of this kind. Comfortable sofas, clean space.

Will come back again. Wide variety of drinks, unexpected menu featuring game, fast and efficient service. My wife have been looking for good restaurants that are close to Davies hall. This fits the bill.

Inside the twitter building behind the market. Great atmosphere, clean and stylish. Holy moley do they make good cocktails! I was here after a TEDx talk to support a friend and was overwhelmed by how incredible the staff/ownership. What a wonderful group of people. I'll definitely back.

Google
Great atmosphere. The music and lighting were nice. The food was expensive and the portions really small. I ordered the chicken burger and it was insanely small - think half the size of a normal piece of bread. It came with potato chips that had bubbles of oil still in them that popped in your mouth. The staff was also being trained, so I won't be too critical about that, but it took 20 minutes for the food to arrive and 10 minutes to get the check.

In the middle of a high rise lobby, this place does quite well despite its surroundings. Went for drinks with coworkers, despite a party of 10-15, the wait staff were absolutely on it. Was very impressed with their ability to take and deliver new orders on pace with everyone. The variety of brew was definitely above average. The prices were pricey though, and the bathrooms are across the lobby unfortunately.

Google
Decent food, great drinks. A bit hard to get to, and it's deep inside the building. They had fewer of the entrées on the menu than they show on their website. Ate at the bar, so don't know about the table seating. Had risotto, which was excellent but not filling. Two gin cocktails, that were very well made. I noticed a great Whiskey selection, so am coming back with a buddy to do some further investigation.

Cecilia Knapp

Google
Cool atmosphere, cushy leather sofa and big selection of drinks. It's pretty pricey and filled with techie millennials but conveniently located near my office so we pop in for a drink every now and then. It's at the bottom of the Twitter building and happy hour drinks are priced at what you would pay for regular cocktails at a normal bar.

This place is the real deal. My wife & I had the Tomahawk Ribeye w/roasted vegetables & it was cooked perfectly. Awesome meal. My wife is really picky about her Tequila cocktails & they had one on the menu that she loved. Waitress was excellent & the only small complaint we have is the dinner took too long. The Ribeye takes 45 minutes. But all in all, a wonderful experience.

Yelp
On Friday the 13th, I went chopping ( how one of my family member pronounces the word "shopping" ) This was the last day at the Twitter or X ( call it what you want) in San Francisco at the Twitter or X Building Headquarters . I come here usually to go grab food but I also go shopping for some loose ends on the way home from Market street at this market called "The Market". This place has a bit of everything and usually I have to come here when some of the restaurants inside don't have any beer or wine for sale. I was walking around and wondering if Elon ever tried the canned wine here. Then there is a freezer with a good selection of ice cream by the pint ( they have Straus ice cream not Levi's Strauss). The Market is a hybrid of going to a wanna be Whole Foods Market with Molly Stone pricing. Don't expect club card discounts here . You find veggies inside The Market along a variety of drinks which includes my favorite a 40oz version of raw Kombucha( 48oz to be exact). Overall this is more of a convenience store feel in the area to make a pit stop. For Twitter or X it was their last day and last stop in San Francisco. Go to The Market on Market street where you can get groceries that are savory and sweet Signing off from Headquarters in San Francisco on Friday 13th was Twitter or X with their last San Francisco HQ Tweet

Yelp
Hear Ye Hear Ye! If you're looking for the most over the top prices on staple items then look no further! $10 bag of chips - they have it! $20 jug of milk - they got it! $5 apple - they have it! Mad crazy markup from everyone else - They got it! The only saving grace is that it's local. So, basically you're paying for the convenience. Kinda weird that the aisles are half empty. Service is pretty quick, but monotone. The place kinda reminds me of Whole Foods when it first opened in the city, but Eeyore is your checkout.

Yelp
The most disgusting expensive burrito I've ever had. All rice and hardly anything else. Very tasteless. Wait! Is that cucumbers in my salsa...holy...this thing is nasty. Don't buy a burrito here, Your better off with a slice of pizza. 00000000 stars if it was an option

Yelp
Second day back at the Market, and ones again the restrooms are closed, I'm not sure how The Market gets away with selling food and not having a place for customers to wash their hands. As we arrived at The Market, the evening manager, James, reminded the bar staff to let customers know, about the restroom is been closed. I can attest can it was open earlier today, as I work close by and get lunch at The Market frequently. It is a terrible experience for anyone having a drink or eating at The Market... FYI, your only option for a restroom is to go through a questioner with the twitter security guards so they can let you in into their restroom. Unhappy with this situation.

Yelp
First time here and what a great place if you want good food and many options. What I liked the most is the variety of options from salad bar, to hot food, pizza, drinks, noodle restaurant. People fortunate enough to work here can have a different lunch every day. Speaking of that, my son's friend happened by and they chatted. The friend works nearby and comes here often for the same reason. My family got noodle bowls while I opted for the chicken and biscuit hot food bar and salad. Yummy! There is an outdoor seating area that is roomy and set up nicely. Tables spread out and even a few fire pits. Enjoy!

Agnes D.

Yelp
I absolutely love this market. Sooo clean, staff are friendly. Besides the grocery, there's also a food court inside, that has a variety of different dishes: Ramen, Pizza, Filipino, etc. I thought the prices were reasonable and they have a nice selection of different items.

C K.

Yelp
I am so disappointed. My office is a block away and I've been coming here since they first opened. Before the pandemic and Elon's slaughter of Twitter it was always packed with people during the lunch time hour. So many good food options! The groceries were a bit overpriced but not bad to grab a last minute item on your way home. It has completely fallen apart. In the last month my two favorite places - Manila bowl and the pizza place have shuttered. Ever since the firing of all the Twitter employees, it's been completely dead in there, even worse than during the height of the pandemic. Elon is actually ruining San Francisco and here's proof.

Rick P.

Yelp
A food oasis in the middle of Market St. There are several restaurants in addition to self serve by the pound hot food options. They offer breakfast everyday consisting of hot cakes, bacon, sausage, Edda, hash brown! Yeah. Good nuff for me. I get just a little of everything and a quart of non fat milt for under $10$ This morning there were freshly baked baby back pork ribs! I can never say no to thatOR the fat, fresh from the frier chicken leg. Burn your mouth hot! Salad back is also good. Lots of options there. There is very friendly service throughout the store so this place is for me!

Jason K.

Yelp
Overpriced market with sparse, rotten goods for commuters who work nearby. Locals don't shop here. They bet their vitality on Twitter and Uber employees and get robbed too often to focus on quality or good service.

Erol I.

Yelp
The employees at the remaining establishments are very kind. The place overall is depressing. Most of the establishments listed in older posts have moved out. This is a pretty beat up neighborhood. The market as it is is being kept clean. The produce looked fresh.

John L.

Yelp
Love ordering a burrito from an iPad, tipping $3, paying $3 extra for guacamole in my burrito, only to bring it home and find out there was no guac added. I am rooting for the Market and have been going since 2015 but I feel like the service and overall quality of this place has gone way down. There are so many people who live in this area... please up your game and gimme my $6 back!

Bryan L.

Yelp
What promises to be a great little high-end market from the outside is a depressing, poorly run and over-priced market that sells food that is starting to rot at excessive prices. We stop in to get a couple of sandwiches before taking in a show, and despite paying $30 for two sandwiches and two drinks were appalled to see one of the sandwiches was basically rotting and the lettuce from the salad bar was far beyond its best. When bringing this to the checker's attention they made no attempt to make up for their over priced and rotting food. We did have a piece of pizza from one of the resident restaurants that was actually pretty tasty, but most of the restaurant spaces were for rent so the overall vibe of this place is one of urban decay. Add to that the restrooms are closed due to problems with people stealing food and eating it in the restrooms (hello SFPD? And health department, are you wondering how workers wash their hands when handling produce?) and you have what amounts to a depressing and aggravating experience that we would have preferred to avoid. I had always thought that you are LEGALLY REQUIRED to have open restrooms where you sell food, but apparently their desire to stop theft over-rules complying with the law or making anything convenient for their customers. With Whole Foods down a couple of blocks having recently closed, you'd think this market would have the substantial urban population to prop up their success, but apparently those who live by must avoid it as well as it was devoid of customers... maybe they've had the same experience we have... overpriced, out of date food sold at a premium price. Our experience here really put a damper on our evening in the City, and I suggest you find another place to grab a sandwich and some drinks before taking in a show.

Amber A.

Yelp
I have been shopping at this place for years since they first opened. I was harassed by an aggressive security guard and accused of shoplifting. I feel as if this was racially motivated. I will never step foot in this place again.

Lisa L.

Yelp
Fine experience. Not much else to say. Would come here again. Recommend to others. Food selection good.

Cheri L.

Yelp
For me I think The Marlet is a good place for your to-go food needs! They have a couple of hot and cold food options that are already prepared to pickup and checkout. The minimum cost for a meal option is approx $10. The place also sells grocery items, but I think I would only go for specific dietary item (eg vegan, gluten free, etc), otherwise the items are definitely more pricy compared to other stores. I came here to try their limited Cherry Blossom Food Boxes. I had asked for help finding the items and the customer service was very nice and helpful. The box I ordered included cookies which the team kindly baked then and there. Everything tasted yummy; I definitely appreciated that the cherry blossom had a light and fragrant flavor, and everything was placed to look very nice. I will have to come back some time to try more things!

Yelp
This food hall / grocery store is a great place for a quick lunch or to grab snacks, drinks, or other staples. When we went there was also plenty of seating and the checkout line was fast. No complaints.

Sabrina V.

Yelp
I pass by The Market everyday on the way to work. It's nice because they have a variety of different food shops inside, including poke, filipino, korean, pizza, etc. Definitely a place to stop by if you forgot to pack lunch. Beside it being the home to several other small eats, this place also sells groceries and their own selection of hot/cold foods. The hot foods reminds me of the hot foods they serve at whole foods. I'm kind of iffy about eating food served like this now that has just been sitting there for a few hours because of COVID.. like what if someone coughs on the food? Because of that reason, I have been skipping the hot food section. Cold food selection seems decent. They have onigiri, which is tasted horrible. Super dry rice, don't even know why I gave it a try, I should have known better. They even have sushi and other cold sides which I haven't tried yet, but maybe when i'm feeling brave I will. The grocery selection is small but it works. They have the necessaries, like eggs, milk, dairy, small produce selection, etc. It's obviously not as big nor I believe meant to be anything like a Safeway or Wholesfood. This place is really just a good on the go grocery store.. but don't do your weekly grocery shopping here because I'm sure it'll cost a lot and won't get a good bang for your buck.

Nicole S.

Yelp
The buffet is nice and some of the food there is tasty. I had a cheese steak sandwich that tasted like it didn't have seasoning on it though. So not good, it was hot but definitely tasted like something out the freezer because it was so plain. Would not recommend at all. They gave me a free burrito because I was hungry but hopefully the quality of food gets better.

Yelp
Incompetent people with a BAD attitude who insult long term customers!!!! I'm giving it a low score bc of the following experience I had: I divide my time btwn Sausalito and SF, more specifically in one of the luxury high rises nearby. I go in pretty much EVERY DAY (except for when I'm at home in Sausalito or traveling). I buy pretty much the SAME THING every day, and anyone with an above average IQ would know 1. Me and 2. What I buy. I'll be blunt: I don't "look" homeless or sketchy. I'm usually in either athleisure attire, Lulus and a Moncler jacket or else dressed up in biz cas. So imagine my surprise when I essentially get ACCUSED of stealing cookies?! I stopped at Walgreens first, and bought some items which I put into my PURSE (bag) (to save waste). I then headed to the Market to get a few other things and walked around the Market putting items in the basket and then went to the register to pay. Whilst doing so, I had items in my basket (which was pretty empty) as well as some things in my bag/purse. The employee at the cash register then pointed to the Tates cookies in MY PURSE and then (rudely) said, "and the cookies?" AS IF I STUFFED THEM IN MY BAG, AND BRAZENLY WALKED UP TO THE REGISTER WITH THEM STICKING OUT. I was INCREDULOUS. 1. I had a basket with other items. WHY would I not have placed the Tates cookies in there if I were purchasing them? Obviously I came in with them. They were sticking out of my bed, along with Smartfood popcorn, and I was holding a Gatorade in my hand - all items the Market does NOT sell. 2. And if I were stealing them, WHY would I have been SO OBVIOUS? I think that's the most insulting part...is that not only did he insinuate I was possibly stealing cookies, but that if I had been, that I would've been so stupid that I would be dumb enough to get caught. I even said "i would've put them in the basket if I had bought them from you; I got these from Walgreens, along with the Gatorade in my hand. And I'm here every day, you guys know what I buy from you." And then he said muttered how you're supposed to "check" in items at the counter. Give me a break! IT REEKS OF MISOGYNY! I've never seen them do that to men, especially none of the aggressive homeless men who come in. Again, I'm a long term customer. They've NEVER had issues with me, or have had reasons to have issues with me, and some intellectually challenged person overreacts like that? I'm SO not impressed and SO disappointed. It's an insulting and stupid interaction that has completely SOURED me on The Market. And I don't care if I'm being a Karen about it; it's the principle of the matter, his attitude, and the overreaction. It feels misogynistic, like he only went after me bc I'm a female, meanwhile, I've NEVER seen him or anyone else say anything to the weirdo males who come in off the street. Pathetic. Your team needs some sensitivity training, and basic training, PERIOD. Especially the guy who always wears a newsboy cap, had glasses, and a beard. You're the only who is a misogynist, who goes around accusing and harassing women who are long- term customers. You have a BAD attitude and a serious problem, rudely insulting your customers like this. SMH.

Yelp
Review is for the Mexican cantina located inside the market. Possibly the worst burrito I've ever had in my life! You're better off walking to the Chevron on Howard Street and grabbing a microwavable burrito. First off the tortilla was cold and poorly wrapped, the carne asada was dry and the rice not fully cooked. But the biggest atrocity was the salsa provided with the chips. The red salsa had the consistency of hummus and the salsa verde had the consistency of green Flint Michigan water. At around $14 you definitely feel ripped off because the only thing worse than being hungry is filling that hunger urge with terrible food.

Angela K.

Yelp
I love all the food selection here! I always get a lot of vegan stuff because they have a great selection. The one thing I get every single time from here is their vegan grilled cheese!! So yum. I tried the Buffalo cauliflower, and it was also delicious but I little too much sauce. Their pizzas are also decent and huge! It's a market/they have food stalls and hot food to go:)

Mare S.

Yelp
Convenient marketplace located in SOMA that has a strong hipster vibe and provides options of warm meals (a modern food court). It's a one-stop shop, where folks getting off work can go buy groceries, grab a quick meal or hang out with friends. There's many places to sit, but I like that there's outdoor seating and a fire pit to relax at. The back walkway shared between multiple businesses is a very cute space amongst San Francisco's growing concrete jungle. I visited in the evening for a quick dinner and picked up a delicious bowl of clam chowder. I'm sure this is a hot spot during lunch hours. Although I didn't go grocery shopping during my visit, I feel that this place is like a more expensive version of Wholefoods. Be warned, but I guess that's city life for you.

Joanna T.

Yelp
The Marketplace is a food emporium or upscale food hall. Like those you would find in Europe or Japan. This is an upscale purveyor so quit the silly comments about likening the Market to Whole Foods or any other general supermarket, alright? Think Fortnum & Mason or Harrods food halls in London. Think the Grand Epicerie de Bon Marche in Paris. Think Eataly. I visited the Market during the grand opening and was impressed by their vision of bringing together the best products to their space. Also having the best small eateries as sub tenants. And now, after however many years that they've been open, I'm still impressed. The store is clean. The produce is immaculately arranged. The offering of products include some of the best food artisans in the City and best brands of sundry items. Yeah the aisles are tight. Ever go to Japan? They try to maximize the store space. And the Market does the same. The variety of mini eateries is really good. Love Azalina. Love Project Juice (a local business). Love the Slice Shop. Enjoyed the Mexican eaterie too. The others I haven't tried. I'm thankful that there is seating in the Market. Otherwise, I'd be out in the cold 'cos this neighborhood doesn't have any decent places to hangout. Overall, the Market is doing an awesome job especially if they are truly working at keeping prices down. I know the Market is here and even if I only periodically shop or dine here, this foodie is satisfied with the place so far.

Laina R.

Yelp
Don't go here unless you want to wait over 20 minutes for your order . Also you have to pay separately for your drink as in a separate transaction, away from the register where you placed your original order . Overpriced as well. The food is whatever . No bueno....this place won't be around long.

Ed T.

Yelp
This review is for the Slice House in the Market. At one time it was the Slice House by Tony Gemignani but sometime during the pandemic the affiliation was quietly dropped, without changing any of the pizza names, descriptions, or the Square ordering page in general. The most recent (Friday 7/22/2022) pizzas were lousy without any of the Tony G feeling or finesse. Ordered two whole pies for a smallish gathering. The Fratellanza Sicilian was a rectangular pie with a thick bready crust, and a heavy loading of low quality, salty salami; generic sausage crumbles, and a few mushrooms. There was no feeling of seasoning (garlic oil? oregano? even cheese?) or balance, just an overwhelmingly salty mass. The BBQ Chicken was even worse. The sauce was a generic excessively sweet store-bought barbecue sauce which overwhelmed the other ingredients. The chicken was nasty generic pre-cooked chicken breast that you find on packaged salads and other pre-prepared meals. A majority of the pizza was left untouched, and this is from a group that will eat paper napkins and small animals, which says a lot. The website, btw is badly out of date offering free local delivery within a very small radius (which we happen to be in); after the Square ordering page wouldn't accept a delivery order, a call, which went to the Market rather than the Slice house and rang for a huge number of times before anyone answered yielded the answer that they weren't delivering anymore.

Chris R.

Yelp
Love the pizza. Dislike the fact that your young child can get so easily kicked off the bar. Sat down at the bar to eat out pizza and fruit. Sitting with us was my 5 year old nephew here is SF on travel with family. A few seconds later the bar hound came up to eject the three of us all from the bar. To nullify the ejection I bought a Cider. Thanks Sarah! Your child ejection policy on Tuesday certainly resulted in a cider sale. That cider would have tasted good except for the acrid fore-taste left in my mouth from barking buy requirement. Great tasting pizza. Zero empathy from The Market Tap (The bar inside The Market). #Conflicted #Review

Misha T.

Yelp
The market itself is convenient and has some nice stuff, but it's obviously too pricy to really be where you shop for groceries. The steam table food is all pretty mediocre, as was the burrito I got from their lunch stand (as opposed to the other independent lunch stands). Kinda dry, nothing to write home about, particularly in Burritotown USA (SF).

Terrance G.

Yelp
I am a teacher. I lost my teaching job due to Covid and am now receiving EBT to help me during this challenging time. I stopped at this store to grab some basic groceries and got to the counter and was then told they don't accept payment with EBT. This business is an example of why this city has lost many of its artists, musicians, and others in the arts. They are perpetuating a classist system that I do not want to endorse. Food should be available to all...not just the rich. Shame.

Monica M.

Yelp
So happy this place is here! It's perfect as a lunch option. AND - if you need groceries in a pinch while at work - they have LOTS of basic groceries! I've come here with a coworker who bought her boss a really nice potted plant that came with a pretty pot for boss day. I've come here after work and bought a couple of cans of beer or wine with some friends and made it a happy hour by drinking them there inside the tables they proved. I often visit this spot with other friends from work to have lunch - we all get to pick what we want to eat and have an indoor spot to eat the different things we bought together! A plethora of options - from pizza - to sandwiches - to salads - poke and etc! Or can just grab a bag of chips? Or even buy the fancy artisan goods like chocolate or cookies! Is it overpriced goods? Of course! LOL - but you can still enjoy lunch under 10 bucks here with pizza and a soda! So - Hope this spot sticks and stays whilst I work in the vicinity!

Michael C.

Yelp
I used to work in this building and loved how I have easy access to the Market. They literally have everything. Beer? Yes. Pizza? Yes. Breakfast items? Yes. EVERYTHING! From burrito bowls, to garlic frieds, to nitro brew coffee, to pressed juices, and Azalina's fried chicken, they literally cater to all of my needs. Filipino food? yup. Organic coup? yup. Poke bowls? yup. This place is amazing. I miss working in the twitter building. If you're hungry and you can't decide what you want, the market has enough options for you to choose. LOVE THIS PLACE :)

Freaky P.

Yelp
The Market has a lot of great food options. It's clean and there are comfortable places to sit. I would shop there more if the prices weren't totally insane. For instance, I like the Super Fresh brand ready to go salads and I believe they were $5.79 pre-pandemic. Went there yesterday to find out the price increased to $9.99! That's like a 70% increase since 2020. Pretty ridiculous. So just know if you go, you're probably going to end up paying a lot for whatever you buy...but the food is usually fresh and you can easily find healthy plant-based stuff.

Daniel E.

Yelp
Bumping up my review from 3 to 5 stars. After surviving the (on-going) pandemic, these workers deserve all of our support after Twitter and Uber largely bailed. Tony's Pizza is the best!

Rebekah T.

Yelp
While working downtown, I checked out the Market for work breakfasts and lunches. So the perks are having everything YOU want right there. Groceries, salad bar, hot food and vendors selling food. The downside is the HUGE lines and confusion of people everywhere. Avoid lunch hour, that may help?

Miguel M.

Yelp
This place definitely discriminates and profiles customers. To be fair, I understand the store has had problems with shoplifters and it's an ongoing daily issue. However, it is never ok for a business to subject an individual to a crime they have not committed and to harass and mistreat them only based on their physical appearance. I've had experiences when security would follow me around assuming I was stealing when in fact I've visited this business numerous times as a paying customer. Despite this I was still followed and on one occasion, the security guard had the nerve to ask me as I was shopping what I was purchasing and if I had enough to pay for it. After replying to him confused thinking it was a joke he then asked me to show him proof I had the means to pay for my purchase. Like seriously??? And after asking requesting to speak to the manager on duty (who didn't care at all & actually seemed ok about it) they downplayed the situation as if it was nothing to be upset about, almost as if it were a normal occurrence at this store. I wasn't even given an apology for this harassment after reporting it. And on top of that, as I'm speaking to the manager I saw an older Caucasian male dressed very neatly pocket a few small items into his bag while the security guard was fixated on me. (For the record, I have NEVER shoplifted or causes any problems at this place of business) I hate to say it but from my experience and what I have witnessed, if you are not a "techie" that looks like you work in the area or a Middle Aged well dressed white male or female then beware of being profiled and followed around the store. At the very least you'll see the security give you an awkward suspicious look if you're not dressed the part. I believe in fairness among all and expect to be fairly treated in a business as a paying customer. This store needs to find better practices and policies with the way their security handles theft to where it's equal and fair treatment. Not to experience embarrassment and unfair service.

Yelp
Expired pricy yogurt... and this is not the first time that happened to me... I bought couple packs of madeleines before that was expired... I recommend checking dates before you grab anything from there...

Sexy S.

Yelp
I have been eyeing the Mexican food area for a while. I ordered the carne asada and chicken tacos and will never make that mistake again. No Flavor what so ever.

Michelle W.

Yelp
I have been going to the Market since 2019 after I moved to the neighborhood, and never once questioned about the quality of your customer service until today. I was looking for Ghee, and found a staff who could help me, which started this horrible experience. Not only I had to repeat myself several times, I had to spell the word for the rep so "he could search on google". While finally he knew what I was looking for, he kept complaining: "I really can't hear you" (we both wear masks and not like I could hear him clearly) "you really don't need to give me the attitude" "why do you have to act like this?" "I am trying to help you, and trust me, no one else will." At last but not least when I gave up looking for the item, he FOLLOWED ME and asked me why I gave him the attitude, I had to shout "drop it! drop it! drop it!" at least 3 times before he finally left me alone and walked away! This is harassment!

Zach W.

Yelp
Solid market. I particularly enjoy their high-quality sliced fruit (mangos, pineapples, and melons), which I've found hard to find in SF. I also enjoy the Indian prepared meals from Fresh India Cuisine that they sell. In addition to the prepared foods, they also have your staples and sell fresh food as well. I would definitely check out The Market.

Sunny O.

Yelp
Tons of healthy vegan options 1 l/3 display case of non dairy milk products. That's really awesome. of course, the best thing is their organic produce. Wait, it might be the vegan chocolate or vegan ice cream. yum I love food and this is one place to get it. It might be a tad more expensive but it's considered reasonable for this area. Look for the Twitter Building. Inside there's over 8 places to eat. Hidden Gem, I think they need better signage outside. Most people don't know it's here!

Yelp
This place is usually clean and decent but we just saw two rats near the bar and the new Japanese restaurant inside of the food court area in the rear. Management, please fix this issue.

Yelp
Extremely expensive with poor selection. Couldn't afford and I left. Very disappointing.

Yelp
The Market is a really great place to grab any meal at a very reasonable price for downtown SF. I was staying nearby in Mid-Market for work and kept coming back here to the Twitter building to combine items for dinner. It is a mostly organic grocer and I picked up a few things, but the produce was pricey. In contrast, the sparkling water and prepared foods sections were very moderately priced (I got out for an average of $12 for a filling meal). Seating is communal style mostly, I recommend heading over to the back for a lower lighting level. They have lots of small businesses inside, from a burger place to chicken and thai. Each one looked super yummy, but the prepared foods kept drawing me in. They have a hot station with rotating south and southeast asian items. I particularly liked the samosas. There is a salad bar, olive bar and soups available as well. Checkout was always fast and easy. More rotation in the foods available and more comfortable seating would bump this place up. Want a cheap, but high-quality meal, then head over to the Market's business stalls or the prepared foods section.

Yelp
Given the variety of options, this place is worth trying even though I haven't found anything that makes me come back. I liked that they offered the purple potato pizza and Grandma's slice, but neither made me crave for more. I wanted to like Azalina's given the exotic dishes (e.g., flower corn cake, mamaak fried chicken, banana crack pie), but they either left a sour taste in my mouth or didn't gel for a cohesive dessert. Even the salad bar and food stands didn't seem appetizing perhaps because I visited late at night. There is a bar to watch while you dine. However, it's not located in an area for anyone beyond the bar to see. The staff is friendly with suggestions and service is quick. Perhaps, one of these days I'll find something to redeem this place.

Yelp
The Market is an upscale grocery store / food hall and boasts locally sourced and organic ingredients. The products here are typically higher quality than a "typical" store and the increased prices reflect this. In the middle of the Market you can find produce, artisan snacks, MANY different types of fancy chocolate bars, hot foods, salad bars, etc. At one point there were also bags of chips made from crickets which I thought were really interesting, however I haven't been able to find them in the aisles for a while. Surrounding the grocery aisles are various food stalls that sell fried chicken sandwiches, pizzas, gelatos, poke, etc. There's also a bar that serves kombucha on tap and a butcher's shop. Note that if you buy a salmon filet from the bucher's, it will come with the pin bones inside and scales still on the fish. I've been here a few times when I'm in the area and need to quickly pick up groceries. This is also a great place to stop by for lunch/dinner when you don't know what to eat because there are a lot of food options to choose from. There's also plenty of seating inside so you can enjoy your meal immediately after purchasing it. Overall, I think the Market is a good place for higher quality food and groceries. Other than that, it's "ok" as a food vendor and it's "ok" as a grocery store. I tried the fried chicken sandwich stall and it was pretty disappointing - the bread was flavorless and slightly soggy. The poke stall is my favorite so far but it's also not the best poke in the city at its price point. The selection of groceries is very limited so it's difficult to get all of your grocery shopping done here (not to mention, the aisles are super narrow). The check out counter is also small so the wait to purchase your groceries can get long during peak hours. The employees are difficult to find at times (short-staffed?) and are also not the nicest people around.

Yelp
We usually get those special sandwich ingredients that you can't find anywhere else over here. We never tried the food until today. I got one of their strawberry rhubard pies (my favorite pie and somewhat rare to find) It was pretty expensive around $23 for a half sized pie. I was eating it, already ate like half of it when I took another bite and it tasted like chalk. I looked down and there was a giant hunk of mold! In the pie that was supposedly cooked just the day before. Mold!! In a $23 dollar tiny pie. So moral of the story. Dont get their food

Yelp
I am a salad bar snob. I've seriously stalk every Whole Foods and Gus' in the city. The Market salad bar has the best hummus game in the city. It's super creamy But not heavy. You are not being punched in face with overwhelming tahini or lemon, it taste super fresh, no preservatives detectable. Their tuna salad game is also strong, it's not swimming In Mayo and you can actually taste fresh herbs. I come back despite cringing at the cash register at each check out, $10.99/lb...and of course I have to impulse buy the overpriced CBD sparkling water. goodbye $$$

Yelp
Another grocery store that's as good as Andronico's; this time with few good eateries like Azalina and Pizzeria. It sure feels good to shop fair trade and unique purchases so that I can come back the next day if I ever feel like shopping. One good feature in The Market was using the green tape on each of my items sold.

Yelp
I can't believe this place. After so many good experiences and such wonderful staff over the years, they want to raise the price of a 6 pack of beer to $25+ dollars from $11-$15. Straight out extortion. Reminds me when they raised a gallon of milk to $10. I understand that the produce and meat and other brands may be higher than a Whole Foods/Safeway and I have no issues paying those reasonable prices, but on beer REALLY? Go to the Civic Center Farmer's Market on Wed/Sun for better produce and Fatted Calf for meat. The owners must be smoking too much green... oh wait that's my money and it must be rolled up for the powder line now days. Staff/security is amazing and always play good music.

Yelp
Really good go-to if you forgot your lunch at home for work, but the price definitely keeps this place from being a regular spot. I would describe this spot as an elevated Whole Foods. They have a grocery section as well as a hot food bar with different specialty spots surrounding then perimeter of the store (like a coffee shop, poke restaurant, juices/smoothies, pizza, sandwiches, etc.) Their breakfast bar is probably what I like most about this place. The eggs are fresh, never soggy, and the bacon and potatoes are both crisp which I love! Unfortunately it's tough to get out of that place under $10 but in a pinch, it does the job!
