"There’s room for two nautical buildings in this city. Disco Fish is painted with underwater scenes of clown fish and manta rays. If that never caught your eye, maybe the name did. Disco Fish isn’t as old as disco, but it’s survived three decades because the food is good. We like the whole fried hogfish. You pick it out from an ice display and tell them how you want it cooked. Ask for it “a la disco” (that’s butterflied and fried). The Cuban restaurant is still around for the same reasons disco isn’t dead—it’s a little silly, your parents like it, and it’s not bad when you’re in the mood." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, virginia otazo, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, ryan pfeffer, ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanin

"This Cuban restaurant in West Miami is over three decades old—the kind of place where you’re greeted with a complimentary tray of limes for your water and a “mi amor.” If the assortment of trophy marlins and sharks hanging overhead didn’t give it away, you’ll be eating seafood here. The menu is filled with six pages worth of oysters, fish tacos, and seafood rice. But we like the whole fried hogfish because you get to personally pick it out from an ice display and tell them how you want it cooked. Ask for it “a la disco” (that’s butterflied and fried). The meat is juicy, and there’s plenty of crispy fish for you and a friend. They also have a great pan con minuta with fried fish sticking out from all sides. photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc photo credit: Virginia Otazo photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc" - Virginia Otazo

Google
This is the best place for whole deep fried fish in South Florida. The plantanitos are super soft and fresh, unlike 90% of restaurants out there. Highly recommend

Javier

Google
If a place can get an Oscar as a fish restaurant then this is the place. They know their stuff. The PAN CON MINUTA is a must have. Huge and tasty. NOTHING is "fishy" and everything is cooked to order so be patient. We ordered the fried snapper and got to pick it from a fresh selection of fish. 15 min later we had the softest and tastiest fried fish in Miami. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice Sunday afternoon. Try it, you won't regret it.

Google
Cali you got competition! Disco Fish & Grill is hands down one of the best seafood restaurants we've been to here in Miami. We dined here on two separate occasions, and both times, the experience was nothing short of amazing. The staff made us feel so welcomed, the level of customer service is exceptional, and The team was incredibly accommodating to my toddlers ensuring we had everything we needed to keep our kids comfortable while we enjoyed our meal. The food is absolutely fresh and full of flavor. Every dish we ordered was cooked to perfection, and you can truly taste the quality of the ingredients. It’s rare to find a place that delivers both top-notch food and outstanding service consistently, but Disco Fish & Grill does just that. We came back for a second visit because we were so impressed, and once again, they exceeded our expectations. If you're looking for a family-friendly restaurant with amazing seafood and a warm atmosphere, this is the place to go. We’ll definitely be returning again soon!

Google
I'm reminded of the past in the most excellent way. The service is great along with the food which was served Hot! The chowder was very good, the aroma, flavor and taste were on point. The music and atmosphere were relaxing, making the whole experience very enjoyable.

Google
I had the opportunity to try the fish today, and it was amazing. Fish was fresh and well seasoned. Service was great as well, definitely recommend! I would give it more stars if it was available, really good food!

Google
The Lobster Thermidor was amazing. We picked our own lobster from the ice. Very fresh and tasty. Wife had a whole snapper fried also amazing.

Mary Garcia

Google
It's not a fancy place, but the seafood smells and tastes deliciously fresh. That sopon marinero may feed easily 3 people. Is huge and full of lots of seafood and chunks of fresh fish. The ceviche de camaron, delicious, the lobster bisque, is one of my favorites until now. Will repeat to try more in the menu

Yelp
Place is a standard Cuban restaurant with a seafood menu. Very large menu with a lot of dishes I ordered the fish tacos. It was big and it came with three tacos and French fries. The tacos were fried mahi with lettuce onions and sliced tomatoes on tap a cup of pico de gallo on side. Fries are steak fries and it was not bad they only had lime and tartar sauce no salsa. They were tasty and place is somewhat clean but could use more but not dirty. Decor needs overhauling as colors are dark and wall decorations are fishes and a palm tree. Prices are a little high for type of restaurant but if you go off daily menu it's reasonable

Christopher V.

Yelp
Had a nice lunch at Disco Fish. They came highly recommended by my coworkers, so I decided to give them a try. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, inside was relatively quiet with some music in the background. The arroz con pescado was delicious, the croquetas de pescado were tasty as well. I will definitely be coming back for more lunches.

Yelp
We got there and we're told we could sit wherever we want. They brought us water right away and that was it. We had to wave the hostess down to get the waitress to come to our table. We ordered the majua to start and she stared at me blankly like she had no idea what I was talking about. I had to point the item out to her on the menu. She went to the kitchen and came back to let us know they had none. Then I asked for a white sangria she repeated white to me in a questioning tone. I had to show it to her on the menu once again only to be told that was not available either. We went ahead and ordered a half carafe of the red sangria, which was delicious, but was really wanting the white too bad it wasn't available. I then ordered one of the Friday specials, the fish enchilada however I found out that the fish they used was.Swai not the fresh fish I was hoping for. My stepmother and I ended up each ordering fish soup which hit the spot and we had some comforters and fish and crab croquettes to start. What we ended up eating was very good, but not what we had originally wanted and the sangria pitcher arrived way after the food and the appetizers came after the soup. We had been done with our meal for quite some time when we finally flagged down the same hostess again asking her to please get our check for us. Can't imagine I'll be back.

Yelp
Always drive by since I was a little girl and love the disco fish name. At One point I even thought it was a nightclub. Finally set foot in to meet a friend and the destination was a good meeting point. Latin run establishment. It's seafood but with Latin seasoning and Hispanic desserts. I had the fried shrimp tacos and they were pretty good. Decent price and serving. Finished it off with a flan. Looks like they have their regulars. Stop on in and try them out. No frills and good seafood. They have a pan con minuta for $9 also.

Martha R.

Yelp
If I could give it a zero star, I would. Ordered the large fish sampler, and it was burnt beyond belief. It was so burnt we had to guess what we were eating from the sampler. Not to mention that the batter was not seasoned. Ordered the malanga, and it was burnt on the outside, unseasoned, and looked unappetizing. Do not recommend it at all.

Jesus C.

Yelp
The Lobster Thermidor was amazing. We picked our own lobster from the ice. Very fresh and tasty. Wife had a whole snapper fried also amazing.

Yelp
The food is amazing! I had the fish sandwich that comes with French fries and it was so fresh and delicious! My husband had the Chef's Suggestion of the day...Snapper with Shrimp grilled with Moro's and Fried Yuca and he loved it! The ambiance is a fishing theme and they have music. The service was very good! Will definitely come back again. The owner stops by the table to see how everything is going etc.

Yelp
Sorry but this place has dropped the ball. The minuta sandwich is no longer yellowtail fish (rabi rubia) they use NASTY unfresh frozen fish from Vietnam called Swai filet which is not native to FL. My father asked the deaf waitress what kind of fish they use, and this was the answer and it was confirmed by another member of our party that ordered it. So when my father asked that and got that answer, he switched his ordered from this "minuta" sandwich to mahi mahi sandwich, I said me too same. Change our orders. The waitress brought him the mahi mahi sandwich and brings me a swai filet sandwich...she was absolutely deaf! I told her I did not want it and that I wanted the mahi mahi sandwich. A minute later I changed my mind because my father wanted to share his sandwich since it was huge and he wasn't enjoying it, so I told her to cancel it. She brought it over anyway. I refused it and she trashed it with bad attitude. Unbelievable. I will never return here. The fritura gave me the runs as well. Back to the Camanonera I go! This place sucks.

Ray L.

Yelp
Food is very bland and over priced. $30 for a small fish and unseasoned soggy vegetables is insane. Good customer service though. I wouldn't return or recommend this restaurant.

Jeronimo Fernandez F.

Yelp
Shrimp was alright but pan con minuta was I recommend it . Service was good I like the outside seating

Sergio M.

Yelp
When you're looking for the best whole fried fish in town - Disco Fish is the place to go. Walk up to the display case, pick out your yellowtail, snapper or hog fish and voila in a matter of 20 min or so you will be graced with a perfectly fried whole fish with two sides -- salad, Maduros, tostones, or French fries. Is it the seasoning? The freshness of the fish? The frying technique? I couldn't tell you! What I can tell you is that I've tried other places and they just don't cut it. So Disco Fish may be a little farther than you'd like to travel - but it is well worth the shlep. Take out or eating at their establishment - Disco Fish will fill your cravings and fill your belly with yumminess. Enjoy, non appetit and provecho.

Yelp
One of the best old school places in Miami. Generations of families have come here. William, the owner, keeps the same feel to the place. The fish is second to none. Today we had fresh grouper with yucas and tostones. Man was that good. Try the tostones with the shrimp appetizer. You get a great fresh fish meal for the value. Keep up the good work.

Nelson A.

Yelp
Disco Fish is a family owned establishment , the owners work very hard so that their patrons succeed . It's nota five star joint on South Beach but truth be told if your looking for fresh well prepared Seafood This is your place. Go Willy Go Congrats on getting it Right The Fish soup is awesome and that's just the beginning. Everything is good even Yuyu my server was great loving and attentive. Also reasonably priced. So I say the next time you find yourself in Miami And craving Fish ( Disco Fish) been here since the groupers were square

A K.

Yelp
The garlic shrimp was delicious and the sandwiches were good. The food is reasonably priced by Miami standards and their weekday specials are a great value. Service was poor, however. I asked the server if she spoke English and her response was a hostile and emphatic "no." We ordered by pointing to the items on the menu which had English translations. I had questions about the price of "market priced" fish, but no help there. I noticed complimentary bread at other tables but none was brought to us. Food was dropped off hastily without an opportunity to ask about the bread. Important to note that our party of three, (mother, husband and I) were gracious. My mother enjoys the food here and whenever she comes to Miami, it's a must. This is the only time we've experienced such poor service. If the servers were acting this way during a peak hour or with a full restaurant, I would be more understanding. At 3:15 PM on a slow Sunday afternoon? Not acceptable. There are many good Cuban restaurants in Miami. If you're a non-Spanish speaker, go elsewhere.

Belkys E.

Yelp
Excellent food with no frills place. Fresh taste and pleasant ambience. Highly recommend.

Yusbiel M.

Yelp
Good food from the sea, the service is excellent and faster. I like the ambience because I feel like my family.

Marc M.

Yelp
The yellow fish with chunks was awesome and a large serving. Downside was that it was a bit heavy with all the rice. Incredibly satisfying though. I definitely enjoyed the veggies and fillet. Just the right amount of spices, juicy, and a good amount of veggies without being too much. Both are winners, but I would go with the lighter meal should I do it again. If you're hungry, get the yellow rice.

Jenessy A.

Yelp
One fish, two fish, this fish, disco! The hubs insisted we try this place and *clap clap* Weather was nice, service was great and the food was exactly what we wanted... a little seafood a lot of good options. I sides with the seafood pastas and it was perfect. He had the whole fish snapper and it's just so hard to get this wrong. You did good hubs, you did good. Except we have to give this one to disco for taking in the win!

Jose F.

Yelp
Ordered Fillet of snapper "rebosado" I explained lightly breaded! well it was like eating fried thick battered fish, completely tasteless. My brother in law ordered snapper fillet grilled, it was over cooked and dry. Hadn't been here in 20 years, safe to say not coming back.

Tito V.

Yelp
Friendly, and welcoming restaurant - good for all ages. Had the lobster thermidor with conch fritters for appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. Staff was attendant fast and friendly. 100% recommend Thank you disco fish for the delicious meal and service disco fish

Sergio M.

Yelp
This place has been in business for a least a couple of decades. The seafood is fresh which is most important however, the preparation is uninspiring for basically the entire menu. I happen to like my seafood without much condiments so I stay away from their "specials" which are heavily seasoned. On the other hand accompaniments such as black beans leave me cold which for a Cuban restaurant is a sin! Their prices are moderate to high again, considering the quality of their food. There are other choices in the area so I will stay away until someone else inspites me to return.

Svetlana C.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place because of some great reviews. Unfortunately it was nothing special about it. Everything we had was below average. Shrimp tacos were tasteless. Clam chowder was the worst I'd ever had. It had bits of flour in it, that you could taste. Fried calamari also were bland and not very crunchy. Very disappointed with my meal. No one checked on us once we got our food. Not returning here.

Manny M.

Yelp
I was over charged for a 2 small fish. Becareful they will put a higher price on the bill for a little fish.

Pat A.

Yelp
DONT BOTHER EATING HERE Disco Fish Restaurant on 16 st and 68 avenue should really reconsider how they treat their customers. "Y" the server was in a bad mood while we were in the restaurant. As a server if you dont like to deal with customers dont but dont treat them like ass.. She was very nasty to the party. The bill came out to 100 dollars which is not cheap and for bad service even worse. She did not clean the table as the plates were used. The place was not so crowded so there is no excuse for the rudeness. I would have left her a penny but because I know thas her job I left her the minimal which is more than what she provided to me. This lady need some re-training on customer service or simply don't work there. I will never come back to this place. For your information just because of her your business lost a very good tipping customer

Gloria P.

Yelp
We love this place! The grilled lobster was pure perfection accompanied by a lovely salad and well done tostones. My husband enjoyed the tilapia in garlic sauce with white rice and maduros. The service - OUTSTANDING!

Alexa C.

Yelp
Ever walk into a restaurant and know everything is going to be terrible? Im not sure which was worse: the food or the service. On top of the fact that it took about 15 minutes to waitress to pass by, she basically tricked me into purchasing an entree twice the price of wat I wanted and didn't even clean up the table once. We finished out dinner with our menus still on the table. I ordered a sangria which was basically half a cup of sugar, crappy wine, and flat sprite. The pictures in the specials board aren't even from they're restaurant because one of them has mariquitas around the fish and they don't serve mariquitas. You'll see amazing daily specials for the whole fried fish but when you go order them, they'll flip you on it and trick you into purchasing the M.P. one. I had to literally go up and get my own line because I lost the lady for like twenty minutes after asking for for ketchup which she never brought. St the end, I wanted to take the kids food home ad asked for tab and a box- didn't get a box and it took twenty minutes for her to come back with the tab. I don't recommend this place for those who believe the imperative quality to a restaurant is service and quality. HELL NO!

Nelson R.

Yelp
I went to pick out a yellowtail and/or mangrove to eat and when I walked to the cooler the fish was shy of being rotten. Horrible. Who goes to a seafood restaurant to see that. Ended up eating a sandwich which would never be the entree I order. Needless to say the service was mediocre and fries came out super cold. Didn't send them back because I was disgusted with what I had previously seen. I attached a picture so you can see what the waitress who walked over with me considers fresh.

Jorge W.

Yelp
Just excellent food for a low budget. Fresh seafood. Try the Cuban classic "pan con minuta"Desert are good too. Try the classic cuban flan( made with condensed milk ) Whole fry fish also great choice too. Ask for extra crispy way.

A.J. C.

Yelp
The food was good and plentiful. We got the expensive meals but it was good. Lobster bisque was on point too. A good spot for some Latin seafoOd for sure.

Karen G.

Yelp
Amazing food! Everything was fresh and delicious . The service was fast and good. Our server, Yuyu was very friendly and nice. The place is very cozy. We had a lot of the most recommended dishes like the coconut shrimp that were on point and the termidor lobster was to die for.

John F.

Yelp
The luster this restaurant once it had in the City of Miami no longer at the present showed. The servers lacks initiative towards customers needs, cold or hardly greeting at the table, not friendly: Needs customer service service training all servers. Tables sticky not clean, no table presentation, utensils "bend fork". Bathroom Men's clean, well decorated interesting. Dining room area clean, acceptable lighting, wheelchair accommodations, good, outside dinning crowed narrow between tables and walls, family oriented. Cons. parking lot side of the building not safe too close to street and pedestrians safety risk also oncoming traffic signal.

Jamie C.

Yelp
Craving some fresh fish? This is the place .. it's a very chill vibe with a great menu and on point prices. I've been twice and everything we've tried has been fresh and delicious. Our favorite has been the pan con minuta which is a fried fish sandwich and it's amazing ! I would also recommend the ice cold $3.50 beers and huevas fritas! Service is A+

Keri L.

Yelp
The food was great! We had Lobster Ravioli and Yellow rice with seafood medley. Our drinks were a margarita and pina colada. The pina colada was good but the margarita was too strong lol normally I would not complain about a strong beverage but this was difficult to drink. The lobster ravioli was wonderful and had a nice Parmesan taste too. The rice with seafood was excellent and just what I needed after a day of traveling. Total comfort food! The flavor was fantastic and it had a very generous serving of scallops, shrimps, mussels, clams and fish. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because we can't speak Spanish...and the servers can't speak any English...it made ordering very difficult. Originally, instead of Lobster Ravioli, Boy wanted to order fettuccine Alfredo with scallops. After some time it was determined they couldn't do that...so he asked if he could have the seafood pasta with no shrimp and extra scallops...they kept thinking he wanted extra shrimp and no scallops ‍ so we had to abandon the idea and just order something simple and direct like the lobster ravioli. Don't get me wrong--the service was fantastic!! The language barrier was difficult for both us and the servers. Everything worked out though.

Javier H.

Yelp
Frozen tostones, frozen yuca frita, waitress doesn't take away empty dishes and cups they on your table until she feels like coming back or you call her over, you've got to talk to her as if she's in a hurry and has no time to tend to you. Waitress's attitude aren't always the best "typical of Cubans", they tend to mistreat you for no reason.. A good percent of dishes shown on menu are classified as "MP", which means Market Price, stay away from those, they'll charge you whatever amount they feel like. Flan "desert" with shredded coconut is a joke, you can blatantly see the coconut came out of a can. ATTN BUSINESS OWNER: STAY AWAY FROM, FROZEN & CANNED FOODS. This place is where everything is homemade and fresh. You've been in business long enough you ought to know better.

Yojanna's T.

Yelp

Random Girl W.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely delicious. I had the pan con minuta (fried fish sandwich) and which is super good, and a really good portion for the price ($6.99 inclu. fries.) I got some flan with coconut for desert ($3.99) which was very tasty. They definitely gained a new regular.

Bella L.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing service, delicious steaks and seafood, would come back a million times again!

Camilo D.

Yelp
Good food, extremely attentive staff. Clean venue. Portions are abundant and prices not bad. Indoor and outdoor seating. Located on a busy corner in Miami, Disco Fish is there for you, with different ways of serving seafood like no other in the city.

Rhonda S.

Yelp
No frills restaurant with delicious fish! I had grilled salmon served with green peppers and onions, lime squeeze and tostones. Seasoning was wonderful. Our server was new and gracious. She could not have been more accommodating.

T H.

Yelp
Whenever you're craving fried fish this is the place to go. Get the hog fish and you won't be dissatisfied 1000% recommend

Patrick L.

Yelp
Looking for dinner while in town for a conference and found this place on here (Yelp). We got there and the parking lot was empty, look inside and the place is empty; so we come on here and look at reviews. Saw they have solid reviews and decided to go ahead and give it a try. This place did not disappoint. The waitress had help via a translator because she did not speak English, our orders did come out correct. She helped pick out different menu items. They worked around some of the menu items as some of us were not able to have shellfish or just were not eating oysters and they were allowed to substitute for extra fish and shrimp. The staff were very helpful in explaining what the dishes were and what all came in them. The owner came out and started bringing some extra dishes for us to sample; like some fried plantains at no extra charge. One of the guys with us (from Buffalo, NY that we met here) spilled butter all over his dress shirt and the owner's wife found some shout spray and a toothbrush and he and the owner went into the bathroom to spray it and start scrubbing it. The owner found an extra button up shirt and gave it to him since his shirt was all wet. Great food and most importantly amazing people. If the place looks empty, go in anyways the staff is amazing. If I ever find myself in Miami again I would definitely come back here.

Lazara B.

Yelp
This a family owned restaurant with great seafood. One of the best fried fish and tostones. If you are in Miami and in the mood for fried fresh fish stop in and try this restaurant.

Ianeth S.

Yelp
A classic, family owned restaurant. I have come to Disco Fish a variety of times and am always left full without breaking my bank! (lol) I recommend the full fish. For around 16 dollars, you get to actually pick your fish from the ones offered in the front of the house. You then explain how you'd like to have it cooked. You get two huge sides and a whole fish for 16 dollars. Unheard of in Miami. If you're feeling adventurous I'd highly recommend the coconut shrimp. It comes with this cold, sweet and sour type sauce that I LOVE. On a short notice my boyfriend just opts for the sandwiches which are a Cuban staple. The waitresses make you feel like you just stepped into Cuba. They greet you warmly and are very attentive. The one thing that separates this restaurant from most is that the owners come out and talk to you! The owner, William, goes table to table ensuring your food is perfect. The hostess, his sister, is a happy face to talk to. Can't get more Miami than this!

Olivia S.

Yelp
I like this place for their fried snapper. They have a little seafood market and you get to choose your fish. Most of the food is Latin style and is very reasonably priced. The service is Good and they have some Good specials.

Erica C.

Yelp
My mom was craving fried fish eggs and I have driven by this place so many times. The portion a d size was great for the price. The seasoning was on just right, not to over powering that you cant enjoy what your eating. My mom also had the seafood soup which was enormous but tasty. We will definitely be going back to try other plates. Waitress was very attentive but I felt she could've been a little more open to giving us suggestions

Andres G.

Yelp
Came to Disco for a late Saturday lunch after craving fried fish. We ordered a whole yellow tail snapper and the waitress said that they were very big and 1 was enough for 2 people, she was right! The fish was cooked perfectly, the seasoning was so good and the fish was flaky, soft and fresh. We had the fries and the rice as the 2 sides, tbh I didn't care much for the sides, the fries were a little bland. The fish was fantastic! Would go back.

Kershy R.

Yelp
Fried fish is the best part of the menu. You pick your choice of fish and they will cook it for you! FRESH FISH
