A fantastic spot for anyone who loves fresh, innovative cuisine. The menu is always changing, offering unique and exciting dishes that never disappoint. The chef is bold, creative, and consistently delivers original flavors. Whether you're a regular or visiting for the first time, you're in for a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!

Wow! Such a great place. Saw the write ups on this chef and being on Chopped tv so had to try. Never had mussels with pistachio and fried potatoes, it was so yummy. So creative!! And the beet salad equally as impressive and tasty. I’ll be back when in Omaha.

Okay Lincoln NE, you have a great food and drink scene along with a university. Out first night we when to @dishdowntown The small plates we shared had great flavors that was balanced, seasonal and unique. The beets with peaches and cherries were paired with grassy arugula sauce and just a little bit of heat. The potatoes with chorizo and hollandaise were fired within an inch of their life which is PERFECT!! The pickled mustard seeds added just the right amount of vinegar. Favorite of the night was the duck and corn croquettes. They were fried with a soft filling and the smoky plum sauce was a great combination with the sweet corn.

Lincoln restaurants—like most Nebraska restaurants away from Omaha—generally lack creativity. Fortunately, DISH is not most restaurants! DISH offers a seasonal, chef driven menu and an overall experience that compares favorably to what you will find in better regional food towns like Omaha and Kansas City. I happily return to see what they will churn out next! I enjoyed last night’s experience so much that I forgot to take the pictures I normally would, but here is a picture of the goat cheese and caramelized onion tartine, my favorite dish of the meal.

Google
The food here is top-notch and the flavors are layered and nuanced. We suggest a bite of each component on the dish because the flavors complement each other in a way that lets the bite continue to evolve. Eat slowly and enjoy! It is clearly carefully and well thought out and we were delighted with every taste. We love a focused menu and thought the variety of flavor profiles and protein choices was quite well done. The Italian herbal liqueur centered dessert menu is a treat and we were pleasantly surprised with the French press service for coffee.

Google
This food was simply AMAZING—creative and flavorful with interesting ingredients, beautiful presentations and all so far ahead of your typical “great” city restaurant! We felt so lucky that our bartender at Kate Martin’s (also a special find) recommended Dish to us. We were traveling through town with only one night to try the local food scene. . . we were so happy to be able to visit a James Beard semi-finalist chef. We will remember the meal for a long time (Do NOT miss the cocktails, the fried chicken and sauces, the strawberry/rhubarb ricotta, radish appetizer and the asparagus side. ALL YUMMY and perfectly garnished.) The only disconnect we felt was the weird location and atmosphere of the space. Honestly, if you’re stuck in that space, why not do some simple renovations—-paint the walls white, replace the ugly carpet and clunky dining chairs. Add some flowers and (even battery powered) candles to the table…anything to create some warmth and coziness….the tables felt strangely misaligned and bare and unfortunately, the whole space felt tired and dated. As much as we adored the food and loved the service—-as you should at a James Beard recognized restaurant—if I was a local, I don’t think I’d run back for every special occasion and get together, as the space just wasn’t as special as the food!

Google
The food is superb. I started with the duck fat potatoes with chorizo, seasoned with a sprinkling of summer fresh corn - it was crispy and salty with the sweetness of the corn for contrast. I also had the beets (as consolation because the tempura green beans were sold out for the night). The beets were complemented by fresh peaches and cherries and sprinkling of chèvre cheese. It wasn’t green bean tempura but it was a delight. My main was the steak, cooked to my preference with grilled green beans (I’ll be trying this on my bbq at home) and crisp potatoes. Now dessert was where it got *really* interesting. They have some nice desserts on offer but the ice creams got my attention. Three creative ice cream combos, all made in-house. Things like corn and Carmel or beets and coconut. I was intrigued and closed with the beets and coconut ice cream. Mind blown. Who would have thought beets and coconut would make for fantastic ice cream. Good service. Chill vibe. I loved Dish. Was a nice surprise in Lincoln after a long week of work.

I come to Dish whenever folks visit from out of town and brunch today did not disappoint! The food was, as always, creative and excellently prepared. The staff was so gracious and the chef congratulated us for our special occasion. I particularly enjoyed the interplay of flavors in each course, evidencing Chef Rachel’s creativity and mastery. You will not be disappointed if you are looking for an approachable fine dining experience!

Yelp
This was one of the best culinary experiences I've had. You wouldn't necessarily expect a James Beard semi finalist of a chef to be behind a restaurant in humble Lincoln Nebraska, but my goodness, everything I had was amazing and the service was great. I flew in to visit Lincoln for the third time for work, and this will be on my list of places to come back to the next time.

Yelp
Had a great dinner at Dish while in Lincoln. One of the main reasons we went was because it was across the street from where we were staying, but I am so thankful our location brought us there! We didn't have a reservation, but got in around 5:00. I ordered the Regina George and it was refreshing and delicious! My friend and I shared 4 small dishes - beets, green beans, croquettes, and potatoes. Everything was good, but the beets, croquettes, and potatoes were all delicious. I would highly recommend stopping by if in town!

Yelp
One of the few truly fine-dining experiences in Lincoln, eating here is always an experience. Even the little items get a good deal of attention. On our most recent trip the item that made the most significant impact was potatoes that were fried. As simple as that sounds, these potato slices were amazingly crisp and flavorful. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The taste, presentation, and servings were spot on! Duck fat fried taters are magnificent. The duck confit...fabulous! Beautifullyrics done Rachel!!!

Yelp
The decor and ambience is upscale and inviting. The service was friendly, attentive, and professional. The food was delicious however very small menu options. The steak and eggs is great but SPICY, be warned!

Yelp
We have had this place numerous times in the past but for some reason just hadn't gotten around to going here since 2018 until last week. It was still absolutely fantastic. We had a great morel mushroom appetizer that came with a gravy that was to die for. Our entrees were great as well. Yes it is going to be expensive but the tastes make it all worth it for sure. Make sure to try the cocktails as well. My brown butter old fashioned was excellent!

Yelp
The people were very sweet and very helpful! The food was incredible, it was very delicious!! I had ordered the fried chicken lollipop and we ordered some desserts as well and it was all pretty good!!

Andrew C.

Yelp
This place was really really good. Our server Evan was fantastic. The beets and apples were incredible. Probably the best beets dish I have ever had. Go with the small plates and split them. No need for the larger traditional dishes.

Yelp
This is the second time my wife and I have come to Dish and each time is better than the last. The food experience is beyond excellent and you get unique flavors and interesting combinations. There is a lot of care and intentionality given to each dish snd the drinks are equally was good. The service is amazing as well and you are cared for from the moment you walk in to when you leave by thoughtful and polite staff. The ambiance is very nice snd it's a place where you won't feel embarrassed for dressing up a little or ashamed if you dress down. The pictures of the food are from their special Valentine's Day menu.

Yelp
This is a fine dining establishment in downtown Lincoln. Reservations don't seem to be needed to get a table, at least on a cold Tuesday night Thanksgiving week. We were a table of three and we made a meal out of four appetizers, with drinks and a shared dessert. It's a seasonal menu, which thankfully didn't mean mostly squash. The menu is very vegetarian-friendly for fine dining; we got the carrots three ways (smoked; made into "jerky" and served with carrot top pesto), an order of mussels, charred broccoli with oyster mushrooms, and some fried chicken with yogurt, smoked honey and thyme butter, with an order of focaccia. We didn't feel deprived or like we needed entrees. Their cocktails are unusual; I got the "staycation," a sweet almond-infused rum drink with some sort of candied citrus garnish (Instagram-worthy), and we all wondered at but did NOT order the duck-fat infused mezcal drink. Everything was beautifully plated. We did get a dessert, however it was so much less memorable than the dinner that a week later I cannot remember what it was. So I'd suggest splurging on dinner and drinks instead. Appetizers were $16-$20 and entrees ranged from $26-$33. Keep a copy of the menu handy; what the sauces were was not always obvious. For example, the broccoli/mushrooms (delicious, but scant on the mushrooms) came with "tofu custard," which was delicious but we would never has guessed what it was. The carrots were probably our favorite; I don't think they achieved true "jerky" texture but they were delicious and have me looking at carrot tops as an ingredient instead of compost. The focaccia appeared to have been crisped on both top and bottom; it was primarily a texture experience and useful for going after the sauces; fine but not something I'd get again. The allium butter it came with was herby and delightful. The service was attentive; our focaccia came out late but arrived when we asked about it. And my request to make my cocktail weak was honored. Ambiance is nice; good for conversation. We basically closed the place down and they were very low key about it.If you have an anniversary and want to splurge, this would be a good place to go; one of my companions is already penciling them in.

Yelp
Today was my first time trying Dish. I came here for brunch (the best meal of the day) and was not disappointed. First of all, the service here is top notch. From the hostess to our waiter, the people who work here are wonderful. The French press coffee was fantastic. I love that they bring the whole press to your table to allow you to top off your cup as needed. The food was also amazing. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes; if you like a lemon/blueberry flavor combo, you will love these. I also tried a bite of the grits, and they were fantastic. I would definitely recommend giving them a try if you want to go the more savory route.

Yelp
Food is always outstanding. DISH never disappoints. Service, ambience, and value is worth every penny.

Yelp
Walked in for a 9 pm ressie. Staff was rude and unattentive.. tried to be flexible and helpful to staff by asking for bar seating when the whole bar was empty. Hostess was less than engaging. A total waste of time. Some overweight GM with an undeserved entitled attitude came out and told us our reservation could not be accommodated at either bar or table!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THESE CLOWNS. Sweetie, you run a restaurant in Lincoln, Nebraska. McDonald's never sounded better.

Yelp
This is one of the premier restaurants in Lincoln, NE. Avant garde selections for both vegan and non-vegan consumers. Their take in fried chicken was amazing, but be aware the menu changes frequently...which is excellent! This is our go-to restaurants to being out of state or regional visitors.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food. A very exciting menu. One of the few truly great restaurants in Lincoln. I very much appreciate a seasonal menu and this was a good one. Interior could be updated but I'm sure this is a large task and frankly the early 2000s metropolitan aesthetic takes me back to watching Food Network when I was growing up. Proteins were all excellently cooked and I was told by the rest of my party that their drinks were delicious. Service was personable and professional. Absolutely worth a visit. I see the chef around town fairly often and she's a lovely person.

John P.

Yelp
Honestly might be the best restaurant experience I've had. Food was phenomenal. Menu changes with what's in season and any dish I've tried is excellent.
google avatar

Ted H.

Yelp
This is the most consistent high-end restaurant in Lincoln from cocktails, to small plates (especially the fried chicken), to mains, to desserts. It's always good and sometimes transcendent.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
It looks larger from the outside when you first approach the building. It does appear cozy when you are seated and have a large window view of 11th Street. Service was quick with coffee and orders for brunch on a Sunday morning. My chair was full of crumbs when I first sat down at this corner table. Service then slowed down for the next 20 minutes. When the food arrived, the hash browns were in a petrified state, too hard and overcooked to eat. It took 2 requested attempts to get a coffee refill. Overall, a disappointing experience at this restaurant. Then when the check arrives, there is a 50 cent charge for requesting hot sauce for the eggs. Very petty to charge this. Good thing I didn't ask for ketchup or salt.
google avatar

Chloe E.

Yelp
Food is pricey, but it's a stunning presentation and really well-made. You can tell the chef has put a lot of time and effort into every dish made.

Yelp
The menu options were great... but the service needed to be upgraded - First appetizer arrived... no utensils or napkins were brought to the table... we had to wait until we could make eye contact with our server and let her know we needed plates & utensils - The second dish required a steak knife, which never was brought...so we had to use a dull butter knife - Meanwhile all tables had a water pitcher... we didn't have that "upgrade" - Long wait for our server... to ask for more drinks. Money lost for the restaurant. - Main dish arrived... we were sharing ... guess what? No serving spoons... we just felt like home, lifting the serving dish and scraping the food onto our plates, using our butter knifes and forks to split our dish Take aways... Disconnection between waiters and food runners. Nobody noticed anything wrong? Maybe the servers can make eye contact with the guests and ask for more drinks... including water Maybe I should bring my own utensils so I can enjoy my delicious meal... For a top-notch restaurant the service needs to match the menu. The server needs to anticipate the guests' needs. Overall the service was not what we expected, but, sadly is becoming the norm. Even for top-end restaurants. Per observation the staff was overworked, and maybe this contributed to the poor service. My guess is that this is all due to problems related to staffing. An under-staffed and over-worked crew is not going to be able to deliver the restaurant experience the guests are expecting, and this ultimately will not serve the restaurant well. They will be chopped.

Deanna S.

Yelp
We had Sunday Brunch there, you pay a lot for what you are served. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which was a square about 3 inches across. The biscuit was under done, not even slightly golden. The egg was totally runny. It was unappetizing to look at and even worse to eat. I was worried about getting sick so I ate a few bites then took most home to toss.

Yelp
Always a favorite! The food is remarkable! It's art! We've never been disappointed and look forward to date nights here every time! The wait staff is amazing and so courteous! We highly HIGHLY recommend DISH! Make a reservation now
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
This was good - we really enjoyed our time at Dish. The food felt fun - even playful, which made the experience exciting. For example, the s'more panna cotta has a genuinely smoky flavor that evokes an actual campfire. A favorite: The brioche with house made butter still has me licking my lips at the thought of it. Downside: the peach old fashioned was a little too sweet for me, and a little too light of a pour for the price tag, presentation also lacked. The balance of flavors and textures didn't delight as I would expect them to at this price point. The food was good, but not incredible. Overall, still a really nice evening out!

Alexander D.

Yelp
Seriously no joke. best restaurant in town. rotating menu. James Beard nominated chef. thats a big deal folks. go here once a month and spend twice as much as you normally would so you geyt to try everything. im a retail employee and i find the money to do it you can too. tip well they deserve it, serving seriously. the finest food in lincoln. anyone complaining about portion size or atmosphere is dumb and has never been to a nice restaurant for real!

Sloan Dowdy W.

Yelp
food & drinks are amazing, the vibe is great and everyone who works there is a mega babe
google avatar

Ethan R.

Yelp
A fantastic experience. The food is inventive, full of flavor, and nicely executed. It's delicious. Good cocktail program. For the quality of both, the prices make it an exceptional value. If there's one opportunity for improvement, it would be to make the atmosphere match the cuisine a bit more. Something about the dining room feels like a holiday inn lobby restaurant? But maybe that's just me. Whatever it looks like, it's probably the best restaurant in Lincoln, and it is in a league with the best restaurants in the county.

Hannah R.

Yelp
Went in for a table for one without a reservation on a winter Wednesday and was seated right away. Great service and easy to order vegan. Cocktail was a little odd (very maple syrup forward) but the food was great (got the beets and the delicata squash). The appetizers are definitely not small - one or two would easily be enough for a meal.
google avatar

Nadia R.

Yelp
Appetizers were amazing! Our table ordered all their apps x 3 for our large parter of 11. My favorites were all the sauces that came with all of them. Very unique flavors even the bread options. My entree choice was the striploin-- delicious.

Julie R.

Yelp
An elite dining experience! Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt! Mussels and chicken were both melt in your mouth delicious!

Yelp
I worked at Dish 20 years ago, when it was owned by Nader and then later by Monica. It was an incredible place to work as someone in there 20s. Fast forward to 20 years later when I'm visiting my aging parents and I want to go there for brunch. The place has only gotten better. My dad called it one of the best meals he has ever had in Nebraska. Our server was fantastic. Also, reminder, Nebraskans, you haven't raised the tipped minimum wage in 20 years; it's still $2.13 an hour, that is a travesty. The food was incredibly fresh and delicious. The service was top notch. Professional, appropriate, everything you would want. If you are in Nebraska or ever visiting, this is one of the best meals you can have in Nebraska. Highly recommend it.

Yelp
I went to dish awhile back. I still remember the absurdly good flavor of my fried chicken dish. The service is great. The ambiance is valid. We got mango sorbet for dessert and it was super fresh. It is a little pricey but 5/5 would go again.

Solomon H.

Yelp
Ambient is great, parking is a little too hard o find for seniors. Food is good with the limited menu to choose from. Servers were attentive to our needs. Not recommended for small children. Give this restaurant a try & you will be surprised!

Susan A.

Yelp
Attended brunch on Sunday A.M. with family. Had high expectations as this was supposed to be higher end dining. The facility was good, expect renovated loft type atmosphere. Service was attentive and friendly. Food service was rather slow but didn't bother us as we were visiting. Even if you label your food as "fine" dining and you utilize many unusual additions, you must back this up with excellent tasting food. The pastry basket ($25) was hugely disappointing. They have a pastry chef listed on limited menu. It appeared they did not work Sundays as the item tasted and appeared to be day old, The cinnamon rolls and scones were hard and dry. Even the delicious butters with the scones could not rescue them. Taste good but when you went to cut item they shattered into crumbs. Like a dry cookie. Our table ordered 8 different entrees and while not bad---very disappointing. Expect more at this price point. Everyone's food was just OK with dryness cited as major complaint. I've had better tasting food at chain breakfast sites at a fraction of the price (Village Inn, Perkins). By the way, please don't put kale in every item because it's in style and vogue. Overall---very disappointed. Didn't live up to the hype for a $260 bill. Sorry but fine tuning the operation is in order.

Bridget B.

Yelp
Wow! The food was awesome, the service was great, and I loved the ambiance. I have wanted to go here for years but thought it would be too fancy or expensive. I didn't feel out of place and it really wasn't that much more expensive than any of Lincoln's subpar establishments. Loved the staff inclusively and diversity as well. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Wonderful food will always surprise you. Beautiful setting wonderful place for a first date or an anniversary or any occasion of importance to you. Service is amazing.

J T.

Yelp
Very happy that Lincoln finally has a restaurant that sets the bar so high. The food is innovative, fun, and delicious. The service was great and the drinks were amazing. We've been there for breakfast as well and we're equally impressed. We'll be back!

Kathy N.

Yelp
Wonderful! This a great place to go for a special occasion! The dishes were beautifully presented and taste even better. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Went here for my daughters college graduation dinner. Such a unique, fun, and extremely creative meal. We had such a nice dinner. Congratulations on a job well done.

Pett O.

Yelp
Very good option if you are in Lincoln. It is an spacious restaurant, with distanced tables and a cool atmosphere overall. Food is great. Nicely cooked vegetable and short option of good entrees. Great basil vodka cocktail, I had duck. All really good. Service was fast and nice. My only comment is decoration seemed a bit dry, and some extra care for the table setting, which was quite non-existing, would be needed. Overall a great spot.

Yelp
Chef Rachel McGill and partner Mary Pat Heineman have done it again. After an amazing Fifth Anniversary celebration dinner, especially fitting after surviving as a business during the pandemic, they are out with a new menu (Sept '21). My husband and I went for dinner and again we're wow'd. Dish is simply one of the absolute top restaurants in Lincoln. Menu creativity, service and ambiance are unmatched. We started with Honey sesame Broiche rolls and Fried Chicken Lollipops with a Gorchujang Glaze. Wow. Then we shared a Sweet n Sour Duck Leg over a sushi rice pancake and pickled garlic with a cilantro aioli. Then came a Beet and Stone Fruit salad that blew us away. Beets with peach, nectarine, sweet dark cherry, blue cheese, hazelnut n sunflower seeds with a fennel and mint garnish. It was as beautiful as it tasted. We finished splitting a main course of Fried Chicken, coconut kale and a basil biscuit that was simply inspired. There is definitely an Asian twist to this seasonal menu but holy buckets it's a home run. Just GO!
google avatar

Monica M.

Yelp
Did Sunday brunch here. I appreciate the creativity of the chef to make their dishes unique and interesting. However, they are way too salty. This problem becomes very apparent after you take a few bites. We ordered French toast and breakfast burrito. Both are very very very salty, and I could not finish any of the dishes for this reason. Making them less salty will make the dishes so much more enjoyable.

M R.

Yelp
Was not impressed with the food or the experience. Wine was the only good thing. Pretensions and uptight.
google avatar

Jodie M.

Yelp
Rationale for 2 stars: *Food, overpriced, and pretentious. Wings ... marinade good, but chicken was dry. Scallops were good, but placed atop a chalky pile of rice mixed with vegetables and some sort of avocado schmear. Green beans, grilled and delicious. * Waiter, snooty. Was visibly displeased with my husband's order, and made passive-aggressive comments throughout our meal. * Drinks, overpriced. My drink was delicious, but I'm guessing they made a 300%+ profit. *Bathrooms, Men's: Smelly, with a rusty sink. Ambiance: Pleasant. $75 was too much. We'd rather eat at home.
google avatar

Alicia A.

Yelp
I made a reservation on Open Table for 7:30, arriving a few minutes early and was still promptly seated. However, I can't review the food since my husband and I sat there for 20 minutes without even a drink order being taken or any servers approaching the table or making eye contact. There were other people seated right after and and next us who had drinks right away along with their food orders. I let management know my displeasure and promptly walked out. I tried to leave a review on Open Table but they deleted my reservation. I don't recommend a restaurant with poor attention to detail, poor service, and a limited and slightly pretentious menu. Hopefully you have better luck than we did.

Taylor H.

Yelp
I ordered the curry and ramen. The waitresses said it was the chefs down on it. It was good, but the ramen has a lot going on. The curry tasted watered down curry. It should have Ben more rich in the "curry" flavor, but it tastes like a soup over small shrimp. Don't get me wrong, the food was good- but maybe call the dish by another name. The bar gets the points here, best lemon martini.
google avatar

Erin H.

Yelp
Best restaurant in Lincoln. It truly an art form dining at Dish. Make a reservation, you won't be disappointed. It doesn't even need to be a special occasion, treat yourself!
google avatar

Taylor R.

Yelp
If you don't like pomegranate, chèvre, or beets, your options are limited. At least on the NYE menu. I'm exaggerating slightly. There were many great options for each course. I had duck confit to begin, then apple-cauliflower soup, lamb for the main course, and earl grey panna cotta to end. Although I had four wonderful courses, I left comfortably (rather than painfully) full. I'd love to come back when the whole menu is offered! Also, the service was amazing! From servers to management, everyone was great in accommodating our needs! For my handicap-accessible Friends, you'll be okay! There's a back door with no stairs. The bathroom is a little small for wheelchairs, but has plenty of grab bars.

Yelp
Everything we ate at Dish was spectacular - from the brioche with warm butter to the smoked pork shoulder with cornbread and kale. We especially liked a small plate with cherries, beets, a blue cheese, and fresh mint. Service was warm and attentive. We visited on our way from Denver to Chicago to visit our elderly parents so we really appreciated how every staff member was well masked and they cleaned the tables thoroughly after each guest - made us feel at ease. Great local restaurant - highly recommend
