Montreal Is at the Forefront of an Urban Food Revolution

"A cult distillery that makes gins and eaux-de-vie using apples, berries, and elderflowers foraged in the city, showcasing how local foraged botanicals are being incorporated into craft spirits." - Taras Grescoe

Distillerie de Montréal’s Rosemont & Honey Whiskey 🥃✨ Today, during a quick stop at the SAQ, I stumbled across two bottles from Distillerie de Montréal that immediately caught my attention. Being a whiskey and bourbon fan — especially since the LCBO and SAQ don’t always carry my usual imports anymore — I’ve had to get more adventurous with my choices. Like most of us, I’m on the hunt for new favourites to add to my home bar. 🏡🥃 First, the Rosemont Whiskey grabbed me. Growing up around Rosemont, I felt an instant connection to it. 🏙️ Then I noticed their Honey Whiskey sitting next to it 🍯, so into my basket it went too — there was no way I was leaving one behind! I decided to pour a glass of each as soon as I got home, and wow. 🤯 That was honestly my first reaction. Then after another sip… wow again. 🤩 These whiskeys are rich and surprising — every sip uncovered a truckload of flavor, like they’d been waiting to shine all along. The Rosemont is smooth, balanced, and super drinkable 🔥 while the honey version is warm and sweet without being too syrupy — a luxurious finish that feels perfectly crafted. ✨ And here’s the thing: as someone who normally reaches for classic bourbons and aged whiskeys 🥃, I wasn’t expecting these local options to hit this hard. They absolutely deserve a top-shelf spot. Frankly, if I owned a bar, I’d feature these front and center — these bottles are that good. 🍁🏆 Thanks, POTUS — and all the weird import restrictions — for pushing me to look local. 🤠🇨🇦 This is one of those discoveries you want to shout about! In short: I’m in love, and I can’t wait to introduce these bottles to friends and family at my next gathering. Cheers to Distillerie de Montréal — you’ve earned a fan for life! 🎉🥂

we were treated to a tour as well as a tasting of some of their spirits. To be honest, before we visited, we had no idea they had such a long and diverse list of excellent products, many of which have won several awards (even the Pastis de Montréal 😅). We got to try many... 16 to be exact. Yes, that's a lot. No, we didn't drink them all (they give you a bucket). Our favourites included "Rhum L'Après Ski," "Baba au Rhum," and the Coco Rhum, which we got to try a few weeks before it was released. We were given a tour of all the facilities and learned about the history and process in All around, this is a great activity if you're a fan of locally distilled spirits. We also bought an incredible blueberry cream liqueur, which we used to create a great cocktail

I had a great time. Laurence’s knowledge on all different types of gin, whiskey and vodka was excellent. I highly recommend you and all your friends to come and enjoy your visit

We were lucky enough to find this place when wandering through Montreal. We had a great time and got in love with Rosemont Madame Gin because of its smooth and unique taste, so much that we brought a couple of bottles back home in Mexico City. Thank you Itzia for introducing such a cool place and Thanks Laurencie for the amazing guided visit!

This distillery space is just beautiful, they have a large variety of alcohol and spirits to chose from. They service is super friendly and laidback, but at the same time súper profesional and knowledgeable. I would recommend to try their large variety of rums.

El chapleau is terrible, “alcohol de agave” more like fakequila not recommended near not mixed 2/10 just because the bottle is nice but the label is cheap and 0% creative with a calavera de azúcar because it just couldn’t be more stereotypical…
