The Beach Boys’ Mike Love Is Opening a Hub for His Club Kokomo Spirits in Miramar | Eater San Diego

"Planned to open by the summer of 2024, the new distillery hub in Miramar is intended to give visitors more opportunities to interact with Club Kokomo, house Seven Caves Spirits, and serve as a place to 'sound check' new or seasonal releases, including additional ready-to-drink cans and bottled spirits." - Candice Woo

Bar tender Baby G is the best! Very informative about all the drinks and mixes. What a Beautiful place! Don’t let the menu fool you, any cocktail made with their vodka is 10/10! Will absolutely recommend this place time and time again! Thank you so much Distillery 98 and the amazing Baby G!

Really loved our visit to Distillery 98 in Santa Rosa Beach! You can come and grab cocktails in the bar and learn made with their small batch Half Shell Vodka, get a distillery tour, and learn more about their sustainability initiatives, including their beach safe cardboard vodka bottles. The vodka is filtered through 18 layers of reclaimed oysters, and exceptionally smooth. I very much enjoyed the cocktails and their infused vodkas (made in house) are delicious as well!

Great find off the beaten path. Good variety of vodka craft drinks that were all delicious! Good chill vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. Board and video games!

Loved this place. Space is awesome and the bartender there was freaking awesome. Variety of cocktails from the spirits they make that were very interesting and tasty.

Awesome drinks! Thanks Melissa for your hospitality and service. You helped make my birthday weekend a great experience.

Distillery 98 in Santa Rosa Beach, FL, home of Half Shell Vodka, a corn-based (gluten-free) vodka filtered through crushed oyster shells. The oyster shells, made of calcium carbonate, are great natural filters. They distill the spirit in a pot still, a column, and a filter system. Their lower-end product is smooth, but their “Dune” is even nicer, and it was a whole $21 bottle with the case discount. The “Half Shell” vodka (available at Total Wine) comes in an innovative paper bottle lined with a wine bag, so you can bring it to the beach/pool or in your cooler and not worry about breaking it if it gets dropped. They also produce corn liquor (moonshine), whiskey, and a botanical gin.

What a great spot! Sugar, our bartender, was knowledgeable, super friendly and makes fantastic, creative cocktails! His special Nutella caramel espresso martini was amazing! Really cool ambiance inside too. Highly recommend a visit!

Google
Built to entertain. But didn't hit the spot for me. This is a personal review as they allways are. Been here a few times but it hasn't really left it's mark... Out side the air not working :/ I'll say the dual level is nice and quant atmosphere enjoyable. I haven't went outside of events. I couldn't see myself just going on a random weekday. I enjoyed the drinks I had but price is on the high side. The service was ok and/or slow. Atmosphere was great... if the air is working. The liquor on its own is OK. I'm sure I'll be back for another local event to see how things are going in there near future.

Yelp
It was our second visit to this amazing distillery! The distillery has a cool vibe. Michael and Grace were taking care of us when we visited on 11/1. It was also BOGO day, which was awesome! Michael was training Grace and she did a great job. The Chocolate Espresso Martinis were absolutely delicious, as well as the Vodka Old Fashioned's. We had great conversations with M&G, as well as the local couple we met while we were there. We will definitely visit every time we make the trip down from Ky. I even bought a Distillery 98 hat that I love. Thanks for an enjoyable afternoon!

Yelp
Great facility, very modern. The have a nice tasting room where can try the vodka and watch the distillery. There is an outdoor seating area also. There was a food truck outside when we were there. It said coffee but they had food, even had vegan chili cheese fries. The only have vodka so they focus on what the do we'll. The cocktails they make were delicious! I also love the fully recycle bottle.

Yelp
What's on the menu? Distilled vodka and specialty drinks connected to vodka. It is off 98 between Panama City beach, Florida and Miramar Idyll Hounds Brewery is right next door. More construction on the way!!! Sean was so kind to make a special smoked old fashioned, pineapple mojito and lotus drop drink. Lovely visit on an October afternoon. thanks so much for being here

Yelp
Cool place if you're really into boutique vodka which I'm not. The best part was the wood fired pizza from the food trailer in the parking lot. Excellent bar tender (Michael) . Friendly and fun to watch mixing cocktails. The vodka is ok. Tried the corn whiskey. Not something I would drink again. Fun place to visit while on vacation

Yelp
We are on our honeymoon, and one thing my husband and I like to do is try distilleries where ever we go when on vacation. We came here on Monday night and we were literally the 2nd customers of the entire business day. It was nice to have just the 2 of us along with the bartender and his wife hanging out. Sean gave us a great experience where we got to learn about the distillery and the sustainability mission behind it. Sean makes a mean drink, too! I think that was the highlight. The drinks are good, the genuine conversation was flowing, and overall it was a chill evening at a great place that takes pride in their product. I think they are in a great location considering that this place is being developed and the business around it will ultimately bring a good crowd. Just know, it is way way way in the back of a business development area. It is off the beaten path and it might seem weird at first that it is so off the grid, but truly it is just part of the development of this area as stated before. Plus, there is ample parking. We bought a bottle and brought it home. I can't wait to try their stuff again this Saturday when we go to the Hounds Festival.

Yelp
wondetful tour and gteat conversation there were 4 of use enjoying this information. the cocktails were on point as the driver i took very small sips to try the various flavors on a subsequent visit i plan to have a non drinking driver so i can relax and have more than a small sip. i received a distillery map for Florida , I was unaware there were so many distilleries in our state.

Yelp
We weren't sure what to expect as we approached the bare looking building.. we were pleasantly surprised as we opened the doors to a beautiful and inviting interior! We were greeted by guests and employees.. instantly feeling welcomed and as if we were family. David gave us an incredible tour of the distillery graciously answering all of our questions. Sean was our bartender and made the experience awesome! He answered questions, made scrumptious drinks, shared knowledge, and shared stories with us. Tara was most helpful and super friendly. She also shared her wisdom with us on making drinks. These individuals made our time here fantastic! They have a game area, upstairs, seating outside, and also quaint little areas to sit around the distillery. We bought some bottles and metal signs to take home. We look forward to going back!

Yelp
The guys at Distillery 98 were great. Happy to serve and have a conversation with you. They have a small menu of mixed drinks, but the few we had were delicious. For a distillery that only has vodka, they do a nice job of making cocktails that lets the vodka shine. They have some snack foods and plenty of games to play. It was a good trip!!

Yelp
Absolutely love this distillery - great drinks, food trucks and the ambiance!!! Ask for mixologist, Sugar he's as sweet as his name and can really mix a drink.

Chris C.

Yelp
Enjoyed the servings. I went during an event so there was a band and some food. Not sure if they always serve food or use rotating food trucks.

Yelp
Storytelling is an ancient art rooted in emotion, passion or pain or apathy or one of a million other visceral catalysts. Storytelling done well should make you feel something. Feeling that I needed to attend, I spent the evening At Distillery 98, the hipster venue for Emerald Coast Storytellers Open Mic. The eclectic crowd was intriguing with a widely diverse collection of personas from intellectuals to hipsters to hippies to use your imagination. What a beautiful venue and loving, welcoming, engaged crowd. "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." ~Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

Yelp
Drinks were great, atmosphere was great and bartender was top notch. If in the area this is a must try. I'm way more of a whiskey guy but the vodka here was so smooth I would definitely come back again.

Yelp
Sugar was an awesome bartender! Very cool place to visit if you are in the area. My husband and I drove over from Panama City while on vacation and this is truly a great spot. Going home with a unique vodka and a delicious Bloody Mary mix! My dogs loved it too.

Yelp
We went there on a Saturday at opening,. We were the only ones there at the bar. Place is nice and bar tender was friendly. Their vodka was pretty good. It gets filtered through oyster shells. If you want food, they have a food truck to,order from. We didn't get a chance to eat there.

Yelp
Staff was friendly, the place was beautiful decorated. Not what I expecting , I thought they did tasting but they don't; they only have vodka. It was smooth though and they allowed us to taste it . Ended up buying a bottle to take home.

Yelp
This is a pretty cool distillery found in an industrial area 30 min from where we stayed in destin. It was a rainy day so what better time to check out a distillery. We didn't know they had a Christmas vendor event and only had one bar tender so there was a wait but totally worth it. Our server was laid back and very enthusiastic. They have a menu of drinks they make and the ones we tried were very good. We also got a flight of vodkas! Every vodka was different color and they all had unique flavors. You can only purchase the regular vodka but still cool place. The one bottle isn't a bottle.. it's vodka in a bag wrapped up in cardboard made to look like a bottle! You can get it here or in liquor store.. not sure how much it was at distillery. The inside of this distillery is kinda a beachy theme.. not a lot of seating inside by bar.. there were bar stool and couple tables or you could bring your beverage upstairs where there's more seating. Definitely worth drive to get the experience of this place.

Yelp
Great stop, fun, friendly & great cocktails! Sugar (our mixologist) was extremely friendly & gave us some great advice for exploring the area the rest of the day. Definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
This place is awesome! We highly recommend stopping in and trying the different drinks. They really know what they are doing here.

Yelp
We stumbled across this distillery (almost literally) as we were looking for the brewery that turned out to be next door. Distillery 98 is working on building up their inventory. They have one simple vodka currently that makes for a good alternative to Tito's. They will soon be releasing a more floral, complex vodka that will mix well with a soda water. This was definitely a fun place to check out. The bartender and owner were very friendly and gave us a taste of both vodkas. We will be back.

Alexandra D.

Yelp
Great drinks, great atmosphere. They had a food truck hooked up outside and it was delicious. Will def come back.

Yelp
Fun spot to visit and really nice people! We were offered two samples of their vodka and then ordered a Bloody Mary which was SO GOOD!! While chatting, the bartender surprised us with a sample of their peach vodka which was delicious! There was also a Cajun food truck that offered a variety of tasty dishes. We ordered the gator bites which were perfectly seasoned and tender. As a bonus, there's a resident calico that provided some pet therapy while enjoying our libation.
