Google
Got a box of 6 and the only one worth getting was the vanilla bean crème brûlée. The others were very bready and not sweet - not exactly what a donut should be in my eyes. Wouldn’t come back

Collette Nicole

Google
Meh. It was okay. They were closing soon after my purchase and I wondered what they were going to do with ALL the donuts that were left after closing?!? I thought I bought the last of one donut and then a whole new tray appeared...! So then my next question was- how 'fresh' are these treats?!? Then I finally got to indulge, after I ate my dinner of course! And I was like... hmm, meh, hmmph, I guess... this was the brown butter donut... it was missing like, the whole like, melt in your mouth, messy face, make you drool a little bit, affect. Like, it was aaight... but not $3 delicious. Maybe if they use organic or at least non gmo ingredients and such then maybe I'll be more okay with the $3 factor, but it still didn't knock my socks off. I still have a key lime one to taste... I am saving for breakfast. So we shall see.

Google
Great doughnuts. Was told that the brown butter doughnut made them famous, but it was average. The creme brulee doughnut though was amazing!

Days GN

Google
Pretty generic donut. No special ingredients or unique way of serving them. I was under the impression that the donuts that were coming out of the giant fridge would be warm. The mother's day donut was advertised as strawberry glazed with edible flower...strawberry glazed yes, "edible flower" not an actual edible flower just printed on edible paper. Tastes like a dunkin donut that has been sitting there all day but it costs $4. You want fresh donuts All Day go to Sandy Pony Donuts, no matter the time of day FRESH DONUTS ALL DAY, Made on the Spot!

Google
When to District Doughnuts to get a dozen of doughnuts using the Too Good To Go app (huge pro tip). Thank me later. Top 5 doughnut spots in the DMV.

Google
I am more so a cake/ cupcake 🧁 type of person, but the donuts 🍩 looked so yummy when I walked by them at Union Square today that I decided to indulge and pick up a 1/2 dozen, I was not impressed, my 12 year old didn’t even finish the tiny sample pieces we cut out to taste, my older daughter hasn’t tried the two I picked up for her, so maybe I’ll update my review later, I’ve had tastier donuts from 7-11 and Dunkin’ Donuts for a lot less, I wanted to love them but the insides were just dry and bland, even the cinnamon bun was blah 😕…gave three stars for friendly staff

Google
So many neat flavors, it’s hard to choose. However, I’m a nutella s’mores gal all the way!!! Love this place and the guy working there was so incredibly nice. He told me he used to be in consulting, got his MBA, then went to culinary school... what a story.

Tameka

Google
Crème brûlée donut was terrific! Moist inside and a great crunch from the crisp sugar on the top; definitely worth the calories 🙃

Yelp
If you are not familiar with District Doughnut, it is a local chain that features high quality, small batch donuts in a variety of classic and fun flavors. My favorites are always seasonal -- apple cider in the fall, cherry blossom in the spring, etc. One of my kids loves the funfetti, but is often disappointed that this DD stand at Union Market often sells out of all sprinkles-laden options by 10am on Saturdays (many kids come over from DC Way soccer games across the street so it makes sense to stock up on more funfetti, note to anyone connected to the business!). Like the other stands at Union Market, the counter space is small and it's just grab and go, but the employees are always fast, friendly, and happy to share the military discount if you are eligible. No complaints here but I do stand by my suggestion to increase the quantity of funfetti donuts for Saturday mornings.

Rupa N.

Yelp
I'm went to district doughnut when it first opened and came again after years. We got the funfetti donut and the bites. The donuts were fresh and tasty. Just the right amount of softness and chew. Misha served us and she was wonderful. She interacted with my nieces and they enjoyed her kindness. There's no seating inside, just a long bar without chairs. There are a few tables outside. This is located on the opposite side of Ben and Jerry's.

Cammi P.

Yelp
Fairly decent funfetti donut. Priced at over $7 seems a bit high for a donut, but it was fresh and flavorful. Their coffee smelled amazing as well and would pair nicely with this or any of their donut options. Definitely want to go back and try their "munchkins". A perfect post-dinner sweet treat!

Anthony B.

Yelp
These donuts were very good and fresh! Great flavors and I really enjoyed them because they weren't overly sweet. The lady who served was very nice and made us laugh while we did a little dance to the music together. This is a very cleans organized place.

Aman A.

Yelp
A lot of options. I was super full but just wanted a dessert so I got one chocolate-peanut donut and it was loaded with a generous portion of peanuts. Was a bit soft, like didn't hold very well on its own and was a bit messy, but honestly that's the best type of donut. Much better than something like dunkin that holds well because it isn't fresh.

Tim C.

Yelp
Overpriced for what you're getting, tasty but not great. Fine but I wouldn't go back and wouldn't pay what they charge

Aarti B.

Yelp
Fun novelty donuts - just a bit dense and overhyped. Donuts sell out fast especially on the weekends, go early in the afternoon or on the weekdays! It's a bummer that the donuts aren't made fresh on site and miss warm ooey gooey donuts. The donuts are stored in a refrigerator and served cold. While they are preserved well, they aren't the moistest and taste a day old. The stuffed Cannoli donut with ricotta and chocolate chips was a bit dense. The Snickerdoodle cake donut had a bold cinnamon flavor and my pick of the 2 donuts. The staff member serving the donuts was snarky and left me with a sour taste. While the donuts were fun to try, they weren't particularly memorable.

Dan A.

Yelp
Located in the Union market, this is a spot I've passed a few times but we were looking for some dessert after some good BBQ and decided to give them a try on a Thursday afternoon. While we were browsing the friendly gentleman sold us on a couple of flavors. He mentioned it's $8 for 2 but you can get 6 for $12 (the Upsell & volume discount strike again!) Although gourmet, this isn't a "make it to order Doughnut spot" at least not completely. (When the food torch was pulled out to finish the Crème Brûlée flavor I was impressed!) Strawberry Jam, Crème Brûlée, Chocolate Crème Brûlée and Brown Butter were our favorites. Hot Cocoa & Milk Chocolate Confetti were ok. Service minded and engaging people behind the counter. Have a few locations in the DC area so looks to be a local favorite.. Would I return? Yes-to try some of the other flavors and stick to Strawberry Jam and Crème Brûlée flavors.

Eddie J.

Yelp
If you're craving donuts while in DC, then you have to stop by District Doughnut and check out their unique selection. We stopped by their location inside Union Market and ordered the Creme Brûlée donut. It was so good! Definitely recommend checking them out.

Joseph L.

Yelp
Quality: 4/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Price: 2/5 ($30 for 1-dozen) Service: 5/5 Military/Police Discount: No I don't know if they actually cook/prepare their own dough however, they are brûlée'd on site. They are fresh but do not have the fluffy, squishy dough compared to a Mary Lee style doughnut. The choices are seasonal which is good and bad based upon interest and liking. The staff was friendly and fun. The marketing and packaging are really great. Clear options and pricing. A good experience and great options for shareable items.

Jackie V.

Yelp
Small indoor donut shop. I actually had the cinnamon roll which was delicious and huge. Tons of icing. Only option for seating inside is high top and there were two normal tables outside. No bathrooms. Overall yummy but wouldn't drive over to Capitol Hill just for this.

Christopher B.

Yelp
I was nearby and this was calling my name. After lunch I popped in for an Old Fashioned. I was warned it is sweeter than most but the cake itself was really good but, knowingly, it was a bit too much for my taste. Nevertheless, the donut options are limited but all looked amazing.

SuzAnne S.

Yelp
I wouldn't sayyyy ALL Donut's do it for me, but if they are good, and by good I mean GOOOOD---then yes, they are a sweet, sinful pleasure that I have no adulting control over.... District Donuts does it for me. Remember "yes! yes! yes! " in When Harry Met Sally??! Ya... that first bite.. second bite... nom nom nom last bite.... that good !!! I have no self control I have no will power No thanks, is not in my vocabulary when ordering No thank you, I'll only have just one....... hahaahahahahaha THE Crème Brûlée YES YES YES!!!! my favorite!!!! Also favorites: Key Lime, Strawberry Glaze, Peaches and Crème and the Nutella S'more OMG!!! I mean really NUTELLAAAAAAAAAA FYI-- when my husband drives to DC for business, I know- he knows, he cannot come back home, without picking up a dozen donuts for me, before hitting the highway. Some people want a key chain or shot glass from DC... I want District Donuts!!

Bailey P.

Yelp
There are so many good flavors I couldn't decide which one to try. I ended up getting two: sweet and savory. The everything but the bagel donut was very unique. It was filled with cream cheese and the seasoning on top was very strong. I am not sure I would get this flavor again but I was so intrigued by a savory donut. The Nutella s'mores flavor was amazing! It was much bigger than the EBTB donut and the center was filled with Nutella and topped with marshmallow fluff. The Graham cracker crumbles on top were also a nice touch. It was sweet but not too overwhelming. I will also mention that I got the donuts at 6pm on a Monday night and they still seemed super fresh! Next time I definitely need to try the lemon or creme brûlée flavors!

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
We went to a different location of this spot the day before and they had run out of their Peaches 'N Cream donut (a monthly special) which I wanted to try. We were at Union Market for dinner and I saw them so we picked up a Peaches 'N Cream donut. The filling on this one was delicious. Unfortunately, some of their donuts aren't glazed and end up being very bready and that was the case with this one. The bites that had filling were good, but the ones that didn't weren't. I'd recommend getting one of their donuts that has glaze all over, not just icing on the top.

Stephen J.

Yelp
District doughnuts is a DC staple! The flavors are always conceptualized with a foodies taste buds in mind. Fall season is finally here and these seasonal flavors did not disappoint. The fall favorites I tried and loved were the Maple Butter Pecan and Apple Pie donuts. The Apple Pie donut was a nice rendition of a Thanksgiving apple pie in donut form, with an apple crumble on top. Treat yourself!

Gennifer S.

Yelp
Awesome donuts! We ordered 3 donuts (1cinnamon roll) from their spread and slammed them all! I was skeptical about the crime brûlée donut but was amazing and shocked at how good it was. The sugar on top with the vanilla crème inside??... 10/10.

Andrew S.

Yelp
Some of the best donuts I've ever had... and I'm like the master of donuts! Located inside Union Market, which makes it even more attractive. This is my go to spot whenever i have a visitor from out of town. It hasn't disappointed me or my guests yet. I recommend going earlier in the day for the freshest donuts possible. I've tried them at the end of the day, and you can tell they're "end of the day" donuts. My favorite is the vanilla bean crème brûlée. They'll even fire up the top of the donut right in front of you. See my photos/videos from some of my visits. I highly recommend checking out District Doughnuts!

Lilly A.

Yelp
waited over an hour at union market for a fine donut. the server disappeared for nearly 90min in the middle of the afternoon. There'a only one server as well, so good luck if they take a lunch break or in this case, decide to not work

Esther B.

Yelp
I came here around 6ish to grab donuts in celebration of Chanukkah but when I got there, it looked closed. I was really disappointed but I saw a worker and checked to confirm my suspicions. To my surprise, she said yes but asked me if I wanted any of the donuts that were boxed up. It was a Chanukah miracle and I was glad to enjoy a couple of donuts with my husband tonight.

Bobby C.

Yelp
Alex and Cate rock! I needed 5 dozen on REALLY short notice and they hooked me up with a genuine smile and good humor.

Brian B.

Yelp
Simply put they are still going strong and the doughnuts taste great. Today I opted for their everything cream cheese, hot cocoa, and the chocolate and vanilla brûlée's

Melissa W.

Yelp
Amazing tasting doughnuts. My favorite is the Vanilla Creme Brûlée. This is the place for a sweet tooth craving. A MUST TRY!!!

Tina B.

Yelp
Great tasting (cake & yeast) donuts. Every time hubby & I are passing through DC, we grab a few donuts from here. With so many tasty options at the Union Market, you should definitely add District Donuts to your list.

Tiff H.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try District Doughnuts for the longest time, and conveniently enough, there was a small shop inside Union Market! There's quite a line but it moves quickly. I decided to order a coffee to go with a couple donuts. I got the classic brown butter and the seasonal pumpkin creme brûlée. Both were tasty but super sweet. That is where the coffee came in. The coffee wasn't anything special but helped cut down the sweetness of the donuts, particularly the creme brûlée. I love that they torch the sugar on the creme brûlée donuts in front of you, although it does slow down the line slightly. I'll have to try other donuts next time I'm back!

Yin Y.

Yelp
crème brûlée donut crème brûlée donut crème brûlée donut crème brûlée donut crème brûlée donut .... I can go back and back For crème brûlée donut

Jasmine B.

Yelp
I visited District Doughnuts on a late Sunday afternoon and I'm happy that I did. The customer service was amazing the the brown butter doughnut was even better, especially after I warmed it up. I will definitely visit again.

Carter M.

Yelp
ordered a dozen donuts for pickup via their site. received confirmation, a charge on my credit card for the order, & said the order would be ready in 15 minutes. I drove all the way to the location and was frustrated to discover that a) they had zero people at the location during open business hours on a Saturday morning (and not just like..2mins after opening, but a full hour later still nobody), 2) nobody answered emails or phone calls, and 3) my order was never available even later in the day when I checked. this is completely unacceptable and after organizing my morning around it, will never visit this company again.

Dani N.

Yelp
Key Lime Pie! That is all you need to know. If you like flavor packed goodness with a light doughy texture and tangy center bite, you will fall in love with this gourmet donut. I'm not even a classic, doughy donut fan. I prefer the old fashioneds and cake style donuts, but this one is a game changer, my friends. It puts regular key lime pie to shame with it's perfect combination of zesty tang and airy sweetness. It is a must try. My friend and I ordered donuts while waiting for our dinner at a neighbor restaurant in the public market. We said we'd take just one bite to try it and ended up finishing and buying more, before our meals even came out. They were that good! The owner was so sweet too. It was near closing time and he let us pick a couple extra to take home with us and try. We tried the Churro, Funfetti, Creme Brulee and Cookie Dough. My friend swears by the funfetti, eating a total of 3 whole funfetti donuts that night, but my heart is solely dedicated to the key lime pie. District Doughnut is located inside the Union Market. Surrounded by tons of global cuisine options, a couple bars, and gourmet grocery stands. It was the only dessert option we could find in the market. The owner was the nicest man in the room and truly made for a 10/10 experience. The donuts are higher than your average donut price but you get the bang for your buck, no doubt. I definitely recommend trying these scrumptious treats and supporting this awesome business.

Eric C.

Yelp
TLDR: Amazing Donuts If you visit Union Market in Dc, this is a must try spot. There are a wide variety of flavors to choose from but we chose the pumpkin spice glazed and maple pecan. Both frostings were super flavorful without being overly sweet. The donut itself is fluffy while still having a little chew to it to make it an enjoyable bite. With a reasonable price would highly recommend everyone to try a donut from here.

Nick H.

Yelp
I have ABSOLUTELY ZERO willpower when it comes to donuts, it was pretty good and satisfying for me. I had a half dozen after dinner, I guess that says a lot (everything cream cheese was my favorite, I had super high expectation for the crème brûlée one, but it was just a bit too sugary). I like District Doughnut always having seasonal favors. Looking forward to trying something new next time, maybe brown butter, chocolate waffle cone, hello dolly or all of above?! BTW, maybe because I placed the order by the end of the day, the staff there was nice enough to throw in a few extra funfetti bites. Sigh... I was too excited, forgot to take pictures, next time, I promise.

Alexis P.

Yelp
FAVORITE DONUTS!! You HAVE to get their creme brulee donut. They torch it right in front of you and it's full of delicious creme. It's easily my favorite! If you like fruity donuts, the strawberry glazed and lemon are very strong and authentic in their fruit flavors! The only one lacking was the Nutella one. I expected a much sweeter donut with more filling but it was lacking in both unfortunately. Staff was okay, not mean but not super friendly. However this is also a grab and go place, not a sit down so staff interaction was limited. I was pleased with the speed of service. Overall, great donuts, GET THE CREME BRULEE ONE!!

Terinee B.

Yelp
My first doughnut I ever tried at District Doughnut was the Brown Butter. It looked pretty tasty, but it was pretty disappointing. Then I tried the was the tiramisu one, but it was just ok to me. And after spending almost $8 on 2 subpar tasting doughnuts, I didn't return for a while. At some point, I decided to go back again and give them another shot and OMG!!! The maple bacon redeemed them! This doughnut single handedly ensured that I will return on a somewhat frequent basis. The maple bacon doughnut is my absolute favorite doughnut here. So where did the star deduction come from?!... PRICE! We bought 2 doughnuts and it came out to almost $8 and spending $4 for 1 doughnut is a bit steep in my book. I'm from Texas where the greatest doughnut shop of all time resides (Shipley's) so I'm used to paying $1-2 max for doughnuts. Nonetheless, we are in DC (so it's expected that they'll cost a bit more) AND the doughnuts here are a bit higher quality than their local competition, Krispy Kreme, so I can still see myself dropping in to District Doughnut and grabbing one every now and then. If you've never been, drop in one day and see how that maple bacon doughnut is hittin'!!!

Erin P.

Yelp
These. Doughnuts. Are. BOMB!!! They have an excellent line-up of flavors including Funfetti (who can say no?), Creme Brûlée (they freshly torch the crunchy sugar topping to order), Nutella, and Maple Bacon (topped with large chunks of bacon - no bits here). They even have a savory Everything Bagel donut! They feature rotating seasonal flavors that never fail to disappoint (including King Cakes for Mardi Gras!). They also offer trays of bake-at-home cinnamon rolls. Gluten free? They have you covered every Friday. These doughnuts are truly craveable. They are light and fluffy and made fresh daily. You can preorder online or pop into one of their stores. It's worth the trip for one of the best doughnuts in the DMV!

Genesis D.

Yelp
Vanilla Bean remains my favorite. But many of the other ones are good too! If you're not sure what one might taste like, ask about it, especially the savory donuts. I tried the everything with cream cheese which when I asked I was told that it is like an everything bagel with cream cheese spread on it. It was delightful! But I can see why my friends hated it when they tried it at first because they weren't expecting the flavors. Can you imagine biting into a donut and thinking of sweet flavors but tasting a bagel like bite? Haha. Shoot. I guess I wouldn't have a good first impression. Anyway. I've had many other flavors and I lean towards the simple flavors. The others are def fun to try so take a bite and share with friends!

James S.

Yelp
Just got a couple dozen donuts and wow were they amazing. Showed up as soon as they opened and had great service first thing in the morning. So with great donuts and great service my day is starting off great.

Nikita J.

Yelp
Very satisfying doughnuts, great choice of flavors. Picked up the snickerdoodle (5 stars, excellent cinnamon flavor) and the chocolate funfetti (4 stars, very good but nothing special, maybe should have picked the cannoli? Or creme brûlée?). Plenty of Interesting flavors to keep you coming back but I'm glad they have the basics and do them well, that's just as important. If you come toward the end of the day for dessert you will notice it in the taste but if you come early enough they are divine. Great for a quick dessert inside union market, would come again or visit another location to try another flavor for sure!

Stephanie T.

Yelp
Super late to the game, but I just had District Doughnut for the first time ever, a shame seeing as how I walk past the Barracks Row often-ish. The bad news? I wasn't indoctrined with the creme brulee doughnut. The good news? Everything else was just as good. For a friend's party, they grabbed some of the halloween doughnuts from this Union Market location in lieu of cake (genius). They were decorated to the 9s, dressed in halloween colors/sprinkles/etc. No photos before everyone's grubby fingers dug in. I tried the pumpkin and and brown butter glazed ones and they had the perfect note of spice that's always so welcomed and abundant during the fall, plus the right amount of chew and give. Next mission: their bestseller creme brulee and seasonal spiced batter

Carmaine J.

Yelp
A cute little donut stall inside union market. They offer a decent variety of donuts, considering how small and cramped it is. We tried the creme brulee and the rainbow sprinkled donuts. Amazing. The texture of the donut was on point without overpowering the chosen flavors. The staff was helpful and were wearing masks at the time of this review. Would definitely come back again to try more!

Amy H.

Yelp
Union Market is one of my favorite places to visit, so these Doughnuts were always the first to greet me as I walk through their doors. Their Doughnuts are beautiful and are definitely nothing like normal doughnuts. I got the Creme Brûlée and their seasonal cherry Blossom Doughnut. They flame the top of the creme Brûlée doughnut, that was pretty cool to watch. I've never actually had real creme Brûlée before, but those in my party who had, said the flavors resembled the real thing. Very unique. The seasonal cherry Blossom Doughnut tasted like a normal cherry doughnut. Wasn't as thrilled with that one, though it was very aesthetically pleasing. These doughnuts were on the pricier end but I definitely recommend trying one of the other doughnuts if you go.

Mo O.

Yelp
Thought I'd try a dozen donuts (DoorDashed to me with another restaurant order for economy) and am I glad I did! They end up costing just shy of $4 each including delivery costs but the quality of these fried batter rings of delectability is well worth it. I usually find I don't care for half the flavors in a mixed dozen but halt-way through, I haven't found a one. Even my nemesis the jelly donut with its mass of icky artificial -tasting filling is transformed into a home-made strawberry compote centered masterpiece that is delectable and generous. Since they're packaged horizontal in their flat box, they slip easily into the freezer and defrost on the countertop in 30 minutes, should you need justification to buy the dozen. You're welcome!

Evangeline C.

Yelp
Delicious. I would finish it the first day if possible. It got so hard the following day. I enjoyed the churro cinnamon tasting one the most. Was kinda let down by the other 3 that I picked - creme brûlée, strawberry, and vanilla.

Sheara J.

Yelp
Stumbled across this amazing find this morning! We came to visit another shop but they had not opened yet. We walked passed District Doughnut and it caught our eyes. We did a walk around and had to come back. We tried the Maple Pecan and the Vanilla Chai Creme Brûlée! They complete the Creme Brûlée in front of you! The customer service was top notch from the District Manager Kaleem! He also shared the weekend Cinnamon Bun flavors with us too! Can't wait to come back over the weekend! Well worth 5 stars! P.S. - The doughnuts were delicious!

Brooke B.

Yelp
The donuts are amazing! I got the crème brûlée donuts, highly recommend. The service is quick and helpful. I like the vibe of Union Market and would visit again.

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
Yummy donuts good customer service! This is a no cash only card place. My favorite flavor is the brown butter donut!!

Haemee R.

Yelp
Located inside Union Market. These "doughnuts" will satisfy your sweet tooth. I always get the assortment cause I love a variety of anything but my all time favorite is their Brown Butter!!! The Lunar New Year special (red velvet) was cute and it was tasty. Parking can be kind of crazy at Union Market so if you're not a fan of crowded places, try one of their other locations.

Nina Z.

Yelp
District Doughnut is DELICIOUS! We've been here so many times and always love our donuts. The fall seasonal flavors are my favorite. Today we got half a dozen with sweet potato pie, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin glazed and caramel apple streusel. They were all so yummy! This is DC's best donut shop and we completely recommend

Laura O.

Yelp
Union Market is a great collection of DC spots, and this location of District Doughnut is a welcome sight! I came here trying to decide which kind of doughnut to buy for a friend who told me "get me anything." The two people working there were friendly, gave me helpful suggestions, and we had a nice chat. It was hard to choose because everything looked so good, but I ended up getting my friend the Caramel Apple Streusal and she loved it! I got myself an Everything Cream Cheese Doughnut which I had been trying to have for a while now! It looked so pretty and tasted absolutely delicious! For me, anything savory is a win! I think the cream cheese filling was really smooth. I liked it so much I had a 10 minute photo-shoot with it in the sunshine and it was worth it for the 'gram Make sure to pop by this location next time you're in the area. If you're going to have a doughnut, make it District Doughnut!

John B.

Yelp
With the demise of its ice cream spot, Union Market is oddly bereft of desserts. Might as well stop by District Donut. This location has perhaps a slightly smaller selection than some of their standalone shops, but they're the same donuts. The flavors are seasonal and varied, and the mint chocolate one I enjoyed was a satisfactory consolation for the odd difficulty I've had finding that flavor combination in other desserts lately. Expensive, but tasty. It fits right in at Union Market.
