District Eagle

District Eagle is definitely a place for those looking for a wild and unforgettable night in DC. The music was on point, drinks were strong, and the energy in the place was amazing. It’s a bar where you can let loose and be yourself without judgment. If you're feeling adventurous and step into the dark room… well, let’s just say you’ll probably find exactly what you're looking for. Not for the shy, but if you're open-minded, it's a night to remember.

This club has to be one of the coolest concepts in DC. The vibes are super sexy and the decor really shows that they understand their brand. I like how every part of this space seems intentional. I love the little shop inside and how the stock changes and is cute. It’s a must stop when friends visit from out of town. If there were any drawbacks I’d say that when it’s cold out the wait to get inside can be a lot, but it DOES make me feel safer that they do pat downs. So I am fine being a little cold.

I was at District Eagle last night quietly standing along the wall, enjoying the vibe and minding my own business, when a security guard (female, African American) approached me and escorted me out. No reason was given. I was not belligerent. I was not stumbling or falling. It was ridiculous. I was excited to learn that the Eagle had reopened and was looking forward to an enjoyable evening. Instead, I left feeling demeaned and humiliated. I have NEVER been asked to leave an establishment. Rest assured that I will NOT be patronizing District Eagle again.

Bad first impression. The door staff are not helpful and bad at giving information. Why not invest some of your grumpy energy into improving your signage? Two different lines - one for some kind of “private party”? The drink prices are outrageous - $17 for a whiskey and coke. The worst I have seen in DC and no price list anywhere or receipt.

Other reviews were right.... Bartenders do everything to scam you out of a few extra dollars. Short changed me more than once and also changed the price of drinks over the course of the night. First time I've been to a property that says they want to support the community and so blatantly rips them off. Was originally planning to go back on Sunday but no chance now. Outside the over charging it isn't even a good Eagle. The main area is fine but there is no casual, welcoming atmosphere that others have. Didn't even know there was an upstairs until Security said it was $30 cover.

I’m not usually the type of person to leave a negative review, but in this case, I feel it’s necessary. My experience with the security staff—specifically the African American woman at the door—was incredibly disappointing and, frankly, felt racially motivated. I arrived with a group of six men, all of us ready to dine and spend. However, I was denied entry simply because I was carrying a shopping bag with some healthy juices. Understanding the policy about outside food and beverages, I politely asked the staff in the kitchen of the nearby chicken place if they could kindly hold my bag while I was inside. They were initially open to helping, but the security guard—who, quite honestly, seemed to take a personal interest in me—went out of her way to ensure they wouldn’t do me any favors. As a business owner myself and someone who supports many other local entrepreneurs, I found this behavior not only rude but also deeply disrespectful—especially toward visitors who are simply trying to enjoy their time and support local businesses. Again, I completely understand and respect the no-outside-beverage policy. But I had no intention of consuming what was in my bag inside the venue. It was just a shopping bag. Her actions, tone, and unnecessary interference were uncalled for and frankly, left a very bad impression. It’s unfortunate when a business with great potential is represented by staff who project such poor judgment and energy. I truly hope this feedback is taken seriously, as first impressions—especially from travelers and customers willing to spend—matter greatly.

Mixed feelings. We went on a very busy pride night. If you've been to a leather bar before, you know the drill. **Please do not be that friend who brings your sassy girlfriends to what is considered a “men’s” leather bar.** There are several reviews on here that talk about how the clientele lean towards more trendy, youthful people… this is definitely not your traditional leather daddies hang out, but the night that we went, everyone was in gear. There is a dark room, which does get very crowded! If you’ve been to the San Diego Eagle, it’s very similar. But this is not your NYC or Los Angeles Eagle! There’s not that type of room nor is there a good outdoor standing/smoking area. It seems this location gets decent traffic. It’s too bad that the rooms and walkways are so small! The Baltimore eagle has a playroom, but the traffic doesn’t seem to be there. For safety, it is necessary to keep the aisles clear. However, as other reviews have mentioned, much of the bar is one big walkway. Like many buildings in the DC area the building is long and narrow. Want a lil more girth! So you cannot have friends congregating in the hallway. Which helps for congestion. But! We went on a night when both the upstairs and downstairs were open, and they were using one door for entry and one door for exit so even though you were near one of the doors you could not actually exit the premises. Could possibly be a safety concern… and speaking of safety. Someone already mentioned the hot water! Do not scald yourself when washing your hands. Other people have mentioned the sling that’s in the elevator. If you don’t like the congestion in the dark room, this is a good option if you go there early, which we did. The top floor is more of your bar area. The bottom floor is more of the play area. There are bars on both levels. But we are not here to “drink”… beer ;) Check the social media and website info for specific night events. Go and promotethe kink nights!

This is not the eagle of old. It's a cleaner and a more vanilla eagle. The staff was friendly even the security guards, the bar staff was swift with service. The atmosphere was amazing. Will definitely be going again I just wish they were open Mondays and Tuesdays. Call me if you guys need a bartender for Mondays and Tuesdays I'd be glad to help you.

Beware, overpriced drink prices vary by bartender. On several occasions, including this past Friday night, I have been charged different prices by different bartenders - this has happened every time I have been to this place. Question the bartenders, and they act all confused. Shady business practices. 18.00 for a weak drink in a Dixie cup is a shame.

Very kinky, niche bar not for the shy.... dress lightly.... bring your sports gear. Bar service is stellar!
