Very great experience today. Customer service was a 10/10. The food was very good. My husband order the beef brisket platter, he said it was tender and delicious. I ordered the pull pork platter it was very good as well. I'd highly recommend!

Aside from the atmosphere the service and food were awful. We ordered the baked potatoes with pork on top and the loaded fries. Both had meat full of fat!! I asked for sauerkraut that was supposed to come with the loaded potatoes to be on the side at the server forgot. The pork belly on the fries was burned. Very disappointing.

Loved this smokehouse on River Street! The food was absolutely delicious. everything was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The place has such a nice view of the river, which makes the whole experience even better!

Went on a busy Saturday downtown. Trick or Treating river street, Wag-o-ween and Savannah State Homecoming was happening. They definitely should have planned staffing better, only 2 people behind the bar to serve you. One guy doing the tables. I waited about 5mins before the girl asked me "you still doing ok" I said I haven't been served and asked for a menu. Young man took my order, pulled pork sandwich with fries. Fries are tiny shoestring fries you get in a small paper bowl on the plate. Sandwich was ok, never been to a BBQ place that serves seeded buns. I asked for a different sauce bottle since nothing was coming out of the one they gave me, I finished my fries and waited another 5 minutes before they gave me one, my sandwich was already cold. I asked the young lady for my check she then proceeded to go to the other end of the bar and take someone else's order. Waited another 5mins before the young man came over and I asked him. I will not be back.

I stopped in for what turned out to be a mostly wonderful experience. The pork dish was absolutely delicious, tender, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. It hit all the right notes and paired perfectly with the relaxing ambiance. Speaking of ambiance, the Riverwalk seating was a highlight. The cool breeze, waterfront view, and laid-back vibe made for a truly enjoyable setting. It’s the kind of spot you could easily spend hours at, just watching the world go by. However, the experience took a disappointing turn when a guest allowed their dog to sit on top of the bar. I’m all for pet-friendly spaces, but there’s a clear difference between accommodating pets and compromising cleanliness and health standards. It was distracting, unsanitary, and frankly off-putting, especially when you’re dining. In short: great food and unbeatable atmosphere, but the lack of basic enforcement around pets left a blemish on an otherwise memorable evening.

I had lunch here while staying at JW Marriott. Food was very good. I had the beef hotdog which had pulled beef on top which was delicious. Having a nice meal while sitting right next to the river while watching enormous cargo ships passing by was just a incredibly relaxing experience. I went on sunday so they were very busy so service was very slow but I can't complain when the place is packed and there is just so much serving staff can do. I would definitely come back to eat here if I'm ever back at staying at the hotel. I also tried the hot wings for take out to eat in my room and they were very good.

I got a chance to eat here while on a work trip. I arrived about 2 hours before closing. I have to say that the bar tenders were very hospitable and the river front view setting was really pretty. I had myself a two meat platter with brisket and sausage. This came with two sides: a potato salad and a coleslaw. The sausage had a nice and smoky flavor, and the brisket was so tender. This was a really good value for the taste and good sized portions. Would come again if I’m in the area.

Great views great service great drinks... superior food!! Sat outside, girl came right up with the menus, food came real quick!! Pulled pork.. smoky, juicy tender, not fatty... Brisket was really good, smoky juicy, tender a nice smoke ring and a nice fat cap.. Was real real good!! Collard greens were fantastic!! Great seasoning a nice smokey flavor the dill potato salad was really good too!! Just enough dill not to overpower it, The mac and cheese was good not too much wet cheese so it's mushy or sloppy.. the beans were really good too The wife really like them I thought they're decent! We didn't have drinks but they Looked really good!! it was nice really cool experience right on the river!

A stop on our New Year's Eve pub crawl. Really good BBQ sauce and the fries rocked. We were just snaking so we got the side of fries and tasted all the sauces. Bartenders were awesome and had great suggestions. Service was spot on. It was a cool new year's ambiance. Party!

We sat at the bar on a perfect Saturday night to watch the ships. Service was friendly and quick. We both ordered the BBQ grilled cheese and fries. These sandwiches are a little messy but definitely worth it. Very flavorful. I enjoyed every bite. I was impressed with their fries, crispy and seasoned well.

Service was quick at the bar. We went on Saint Paddy's day. Everything we ordered tasted like it been cooked the day before. I had a pulled pork sandwich with a side of collard greens. The pulled pork was tough, and the crispy bits were hard and greasy. A bite of the collard greens felt like a punch to the face way too much vinegar and they tasted like they hadn't been washed. Yucky. Good beer selection though.

As soon as you pass this place, you can smell the bbq and we were immediately attracted! The tables were all taken, so we decided to eat at the bar. We were greeted as soon as we sat down and given menus. We really appreciated the hooks under the bar where you sit to hang your bags. Our waiter was kind and attentive the entire time. I wanted to order the fried pickles but I was told there were out of pickles, so I ordered the bbq mac & cheese. On top of the mac and cheese was smoked pulled pork. It was very delicious! My friend ordered the bbq grilled cheese with a side of fries and it was delicious as well! It was busy with a lot of people and we were still able to get great service and our food came out quickly! I highly recommend coming here for some delicious bbq dishes!

I went here today with my friend while visiting the river walk. Firstly, we could smell the food blowing in the breeze before we arrived. I ordered the BBQ grilled cheese as a recommendation from the bartender, 10/10. It was flavorful and I added the spicy barbecue sauce. I will absolutely visit again when I come to Savannah.

I always love coming to this place. It's always so fast and really good! I had their smoked wings which were really spicy but ohhh sooo good! With a bud light and wings! Chefs kiss!

Came here cause we were hungry while walking around the shops and district. I am vegetarian so take my review as you will. I got the Mac and cheese, collard greens and fries. The Mac and cheese was decent with BBQ sauce drizzled on top, collard greens were a little salty for me, and fries were decent (nothing too special). My sister got the stew with briskets and LOVED it. She got a side of cornbread, which I tried and it was delicious.

Beef Platter with 2 sides- OH MY! it was a lot of food. Being from Texas, the taste was great! Open concept with lovely weather and the waiter being amazing. environment to spend with friends or family is great.

We wanted an afternoon snack with a drink and staying at the most amazing Marriott. The drinks were good but the bartender needs to learn how to smile. He recommended the burned pork tips and fries. The fries were great, covered in old bay spice, the tips were 99% fat. I know some people like eating pure fat but not us. He came over to give us the check and saw we didn't eat it and just took our money. Never asked if we liked it or why we didn't eat it. He is the bartender with a beard, didn't get his name.

My husband and I shared the Boss Hog potato and some cocktails. The flavor was spot on with what you would expect with pulled pork and BBQ sauce. I would get it again.

The setting was splendid , with bar seats facing the Savannah River on this gorgeous morning in Savannah. Unfortunately we ate separately because they put in our order wrong and my Dads food was out so far ahead of mine it was pretty absurd . Manager agreed and adjusted the bill which was nice . It wasn't such a hardship to have a long leisurely lunch . The wings were prepared in a special way that made them memorable. The "Smoked greens "did not taste smoky at all , I personally enjoyed the fact the greens were not loaded with pork or grease but frankly they were way LeSs smoky than low country greens usually are ? But they were tender and also clean , just a misleading name is all? Finally their pulled pork was certainly not the best in Savannah(Sandfly or Sisters is) But the ambiance was beyond beautiful & the wait staff including management, seemed to care about guests enjoying their meals & drinks , so I would recommend District BBQ as an excellent choice among available restaurants on RiverStreet in Savannah.

Perfect spot to sit and relax with a river view during a day on riverstreet! Great draft beer selection and we loved our brisket grilled cheese with fries. Bar is outdoor but was shaded/breezy.

We stopped by while we were shopping as we were getting hungry and this seemed to be a good place - even if it was one of the only places, around, lol. It was packed, and had plenty of TVs to catch the games that were going on. We ordered several items to share, all of which were good. We got the 'big tex', but on fries instead of a baked potato - which the waiter informed us was an option (thank you!). The BBQ grilled cheese was very good, and was 'toddler approved' even, a very high mark. She really liked the bbq platters that we got here as well. Between the good food and the great atmosphere, I'd definitely stop here again.

The only reason for the 4 stars is the beer is super expensive. The food and service is great. The baked potato with brisket was to die for. The platter was great as well.

For context, check for yourself but I don't write a lot of reviews let alone positive ones. I'm no barbacue expert but I've had my share globally and locally (see hometown). This was really good, plain and simple. I'm talking about the taste of the food, but how it was presented, the menu choices, and service were all also a 5. It doesn't hurt that the atmosphere was equally pleasing being comfortable outdoor counter river-side seating with a rare view of green space on the opposite side. Granted I only had one dish, the barbecue Mac and cheese, but every component was fresh, moist (not watery), and most importantly both perfectly cooked and tasty. All this makes me wonder about the other reviews. This was my last meal in food-intense Savannah after hitting every place I could that was recommended in the recent F&W and NYT 36-hour articles, as well as Eater. These 3 publications led me to some good meals but honestly no better than this one.

Atmosphere was great, food was great, people were awesome. Service was outstanding. 10 out of 10!

We were surprised that this was outside seating (with a roof) only, but it works. The staff was friend and the food was delicious. My niece really liked the greens and I thought the sausage was fantastic, everything we order was really good. I Would highly recommend this spot.

Stopped by here on Monday night during the Alabama v Michigan game to catch the second half. Found a couple seats at the bar, all of which had great views of the TV's. It was cold and wet, but the heaters were on and we felt very comfortable. Unfortunately the holiday market place was in effect, with these shops/carts lined up along the wall of river street, so the beautiful view of the water was blocked. Regardless, this plant riverside area right outside the JW Marriott is extremely nice and upscale, despite this bar itself being more casual. We grabbed some beers (decent craft selection), watched the game, and got a little hungry. Decided we would split the pulled pork sandwich. It came out in record time - seriously less than 5 minutes. The pork was incredible - juicy and tender, with the fat bits melting in your mouth. The sauces were also great. So good, that we decided to order a round of ribs as well! Also came out in less than 3 minutes from order and were delicious. I believe our 3 craft beers, ribs, pulled pork sandwich, fries, collard greens, and mac n cheese = $56 total? Awesome prices considering the "boughy-ness" of the area. Bartender was also friendly and fun to talk to. Would definitely go back.

Stopped in for lunch on a cool afternoon. Nice outside bar seating with some overhead heaters on. Our server was very friendly and on top of our order and drinks. The brisket sandwich was good with nice moist brisket and some fat. There are four sauces and I used some of the Southern Hot (spicy) that was good. The others sauces are PRD Original (smokey), Carolina Mustard (Tandy) and House Hot sauce. Others had the burnt ends and were very pleased with their meal.

A part of the Mariott empire, this BBQ restaurant is located right in front of the main hotel along the riverwalk The place mostly has barstool seating, no waiting, and decent waiters. prices are fair, especially for the location and the cachet of thr Mariott brand. I had the 2-meat combo platter, with smoked sausage and brisket. The sausage was excellent, but the brisket less so (not enough seasoning, not moist enough, and not fatty enough, so that I was disappointed, and I did not even finish it). The mac and cheese was excellent, as were the bbq fries. My wife had a Tex-Mex stuffed potato, and loved it. In all, 4 stars is generous, and we'll stay on the search for a better bbq place.

The area was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was friendly. The food was okay. We sat longer than most waiting on food. The server asked the manager to check on our food and when they brought it out, it looked as if they forgot it and just threw everything on the plate. I got the the bbq grilled cheese and it was good but not great and my fries were not hot. Wouldn't go back but nice place on the water.

Brisket and sausage was awesome! Drinks too. Baked beans were good. Collards were okay. Bbq fries were just fries. I'd return for a brisket sandwich with a side of beans and a drink. Great customer service and nice view.

I went with 2 really good friends of mine and I ordered the BBQ Mac and cheese with brisket and it was one of the best things I have ever eaten . The brisket was cooked to perfection and the Mac and cheese was creamy . I highly recommend this place

Service was awesome very attentive , great atmosphere +dog friendly which was a plus they even have drinks and treats . The food was amazing as well they had plenty of different sauces on the table to use as well all delicious . We each had one drink and it was just enough to have a great night and set the vibe . Would recommend 10/10 will be coming back next visit to savanna !

Great place for some delicious hot and fresh BBQ. Right on the river. Everything tasted great. Nice sides especially the Mac and cheese. Highly recommend the meat platter.

PROS: - takeout was ready quickly - BBQ was ok CONS: - service/staff weren't welcoming I came to pick up some BBQ to go. I saw the sign for "take out orders" and followed suit at the side of the bar. It was awkward waiting for the bartenders to take my order since they were talking to each other most of the time. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with sides of Mac and cheese and coleslaw. My order was ready in 10 mins and when I finally got around to eating my order, the BBQ wasn't bad- but I've had much better in other cities in Kansas City or Memphis. The BBQ sauce just felt kinda... off. It had a smokiness to it but it didn't really have a sweet or tangy flavor to it. Overall it was an Ok experience.

District Smokehouse in Savannah is a great place to go for quality BBQ and sides with a view. Excellent and efficient service that makes sure that you have everything that you need. Good overall experience every time I have been here.

It was our last meal in Savannah and we hadn't done bbq yet, this place did not disappoint. 100% outside but don't worry this place has amazing heaters that hit every seat around the bar so you will not be cold in lower temps, plus you can't beat the view of the Savannah River. The food was good stuff, we ordered brisket and pulled pork for entrees, each came with 2 sides and we chose potato salad, baked beans, collards and mac and cheese. We shared everything and it was all delicious, the sweet tea to wash it down was perfect.... But $11 for a draft beer was a little cray.

Good food tastes good days later. I ordered the three meat platter with sausage, chicken, and ribs. They served full portions of each meat instead of three smaller portions. The sausage was good and smoky. And it wasn't prepared with too much fat. So they were great on a slice of bread the next day... and the next. Yes, I had enough leftovers to eat more than one additional meal. The chicken was tender and falling off the bone. And it also tasted good as cold leftovers. Mac and cheese: pretty descent. Collard greens: Yes, very good, but beware the vinegar, which some don't prefer on their greens. This was not the best barbecue I ever had, but I would go back. Fortunately, I didn't need to on this trip

My husband and I had lunch here Wednesday. We shared a three meat and macaroni and cheese with fries. The macaroni and fries along with the sausage were all good. The bbq and brisket seemed like it had been reheated from the day before very dry. Service was very fast and friendly. The setting was wonderful.

The only bad thing about this meal was that I ate way too much and suffered for several hours. I had the pulled pork platter with beans and cole slaw. Everything was very tasty. Even the pickles and the biscuit were good. The sauces are very complimentary and the hot sauce is great. Also, the waterfront view is nice. A totally great experience!

They did it all right! Outdoor covered bar along the River with a wonderful view. Heaters overhead to take the chill off. TVs all around. 8 bartenders for great service. All were really helpful but Cari was really great. And the food was awesome! Real good Southern bbq. The Brunswick stew was so good and perfect for a chilly day. I love that I could choose the meat I wanted in it. I got the chopped brisket. It was fabulous! We also split some wings and a 1/4 smoked chicken. All was fantastic! I also tasted a rib which was the best. I look forward to going back when in town!

For us, this was a really nice surprise. Really good barbecue in an outside setting with a great bartender and fantastic live music! If you prefer a different menu, right next door is another version of the outdoor restaurant. Would absolutely visit this again if in the area.

Went here on the 4th of July and had a great time! Because of the holiday, they were on a limited menu, but still had a great selection. I got a bbq grilled cheese and specialty cocktail- both delicious. Great service and can't beat the location!

Great environment - right outside on the river. Nice for people watching and enjoying a nice evening. We brought our dog with us and the staff were so nice. Service was attentive and food was pretty good. Price point was a bit high.

Great location on the river. I came with some friends, sat at the bar and was promptly seen. My server, Cory (hope I remembered correctly), was more than helpful! He recommended various dishes but ultimately helped me decide to go with the bacon wrapped hot dog topped with pulled pork and pickles. So. Damn. Good. So filling too! All dishes really hit the spot and I thought it was reasonably priced. Overall, I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area for a quick bite.

Great atmosphere and enjoyed the drinks and view. The food wasn't great though. I had the bbq mac (typically a favorite of mine) but the mac was overcooked and watery with zero flavor and the pork was fatty and also flavorless. My husband ate the burnt ends and while they had a good smoky flavor, they were very fatty and hard to eat. Would go back for a drink but not for food.

Soooo good. The view is amazing. The heaters made the cold chill a bit toasty and manageable. Amazing service by Justin and Yvonne as backup. Wonderful tips on touring beautiful Savannah. Had the triple meat. So amazing. The bbq sauce is sweat. I had the chicken (off the bone!), pulled pork, and brisket. All 3 were were very, very good. Justin said they make it all on site every day. The corn bread side was ok; hard to top Huey's amazing cornbread. The french fries were typical but did have some nice seasoning. The el Jefe sandwich was great w pulled pork and sausage. The sausage had great flavor. Not sure I've adequately described how good the BBQ was. I'd travel across town for it certainly. If you find yourself in beautiful Savannah, come say hi to Justin and Yvonne and enjoy the BBQ and beautiful views. It is on the water as part of the Marriott property. Service does not acknowledge you, food is all out of a can dry and tasteless the Brunswick stew tastes like spaghetti-o's. I would not feed this to my dog. I have an extra star because the venue and location is great that's about it

We had a good meal at District Smokehouse. My husband ordered the two meat platter with brisket and sausage and he liked his better than I cared for the pulled pork. I think the pulled pork was fattier than other pulled pork I've eaten. Nice location right on the riverfront.

District Smokehouse is an outdoor bar like setting along the Savannah River. It's a wonderful place to sit and relax while watching the boats go by. However, it's difficult to find a table so you have to keep an eye out for one. As for food, I ordered the bbq grilled cheese sandwich with coleslaw on the side. The first thing I noticed was how much bbq pork the put in the sandwich. Definitely looked like a $15 sandwich. The texture was slightly dry so I had to add more bbq sauce to accommodate for that but it was still very soft and tender. I also wish there was a bit more cheese since I couldn't taste much of the pimento. Overall not a bad sandwich but there is room for improvement. The coleslaw was very refreshing and had a slight kick to it. I like that it wasn't drowning in sauce. It was a good sauce to veggie ratio. Service was also super quick! I was especially impressed with our server Charles for handling multiple tables and being super friendly the whole time. Overall, District smokehouse provided great views, amazing service, and pretty decent food!

If Josh isn't your bartender you're doing it wrong. This place is so fun. The food is great. The service is great. Josh is a vibe.

I was in a group of 7 friends in Savannah for a bachelor party and we needed to make last-minute dinner plans. Before I continue, I HIGHLY recommend choosing that city for a bachelor party! We were on a pedal tour and our guide recommended smokehouse for authentic barbecue. We were not in the mood for an upscale restaurant since we had an expensive dinner the night before in Hilton Head. The District Smokehouse is situated right on the Savannah River in the Plant Riverside District (behind the JW Marriott). It is not its own building - it's basically a large outdoor bar with a handful of tables. They do not take reservations and if it is a Friday or Saturday night, it is difficult to get seats for parties larger than 2-3 people. We had to split up our group - 2 of us sat on one side of the bar, while the rest of the guys sat together across from us. It was a frustrating, however we didn't really have many options within walking distance. The menu has a decent variety of meal options (and a full bar menu) and the prices are reasonable. They were probably a bit understaffed as a couple of the employees seemed a bit overwhelmed at times. They have sandwiches, meat platters, typical sides (Mac and cheese, beans, collared greens, etc) and smaller dishes. We were upset to learn that they were out of baked beans after we placed our orders :/ I went with the bbq chicken platter, which included 2 sides and 3 drumsticks. The cost was about $16 (reasonable). However, they made minor mistakes with our orders. Because they were out of beans, I requested Mac and cheese and collared greens as my side. They accidentally served me the platter with 2 sides of fries by accident - it turns out they meant to serve that to the gentleman next to me, but he switched seats! Oops. I figured they could just take back the fries, however I started eating the chicken so they decided to have me keep the fries, which were delicious by the way. I'd say the chicken was quite good, but I added some bbq sauce to make it moist and for flavor. The Mac and cheese was okay, but I'll take it. The food was satisfying and I loved eating a meal right on the water in the beautiful weather. I would recommend they hire another 1-2 employees to help their operation run more efficiently. I'd also recommend they try to add more tables for groups.

I was with family at the holiday event the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We were there to watch the bagpipes and other bands perform. We decided to try the bbq place. It did not disappoint. I had their hotdog. Everything... I do mean everything was excellent. The bun was great quality and fresh. The hotdog was good. The pulled pork on top of the hotdog was tasty and fresh. My side was the mac and cheese, and it was very good. Reminded me of my grandmothers homemade mac and cheese. I would suggest this to anyone in the area. Their alcohol drinks are also great!

We stopped here on a whim as we were walking down the river bank. I honestly was not expecting anything great. Mediocre food was I thought I'd get. But WOW was I impressed! The service was excellent! Our waiter was patient and helped guide us to an amazing meal. We started off with the "Burnt ends" which were amazing!! My husband and I split the brisket plate which came with 2 sides. We choose slaw and the greens. It was plenty for us for share. But it was our child that got an epic dinner. She ordered the grilled cheese sandwich which had pulled pork in it. Wow! It was amazing!!! So so so good! The best meal I've had on this whole vacation. I would recommend this to everyone!

Second time eating here. First time was just to eat wings, which are amazing btw. Second time I chose to get the district burger which has brisket, queso and pickles on it, comes with a side. The brisket is sooo good, from the first bite you taste so much smoky flavor from everything including the queso. The portion is definitely worth the money I'd have to say as well. Both times I went the service was great, had no issues. Even the wait time for the food was pretty quick despite all the people that are usually here. Food is always fresh and piping hot. No doubt I'll be back to try more BBQ and enjoy some drinks.

Yep, we are tourists in Savannah. I enjoyed our experience at District Smokehouse, loved sitting outdoors next to the river and great Peach Palmer! The brisket was excellent (moist, not dried) as well as the sides.
