Google
Such a cute vibe. Very underwater themed, with unique lighting, decor, and style all around. It feels colorful, yet holds that ocean underwater aesthetic. Very submarine. The drinks are good, the bartenders are sweet, and they offer good happy hour deals!

Google
Great spot, down to earth and vibes. Hit or miss with how happening it is. Depends on what's going on but worth a visit. Great staff and drinks / atmosphere.

Nancy Kidder

Google
Dive Bar may look rustic & retro but the craft cocktails are out of sight!!! We also love the servers, especially Belle & Laycee. They gave us advice on Austin & we had really interesting conversations about the recent changes in the city. Highly recommend!

Google
Nice quiet local bar. Watched the NBA finals in here and had a good time. Very nice staff and open to all types of people.

Adam Jones

Google
Honestly the rudest bartenders I’ve come across in quite some time. Will never buy a drink here again.

Jake Zoccoli

Google
We were visiting Austin for a concert and found this little gem. The staff treated us like family, and the locals were as friendly as you could hope for. We visited Dive Bar 3 out of the 5 days we were in Austin. They don't serve food, but Belle and Bella will encourage you to order it in! Wonderful experience and an easy recommendation!

Google
Great bar. 10/10 in my Bar scale. Staff is super nice, alway serving cold drinks on time. If you are around downtown Austin it is an awesome spot for a cold beer.

Trey Robinson

Google
What an awesome surprise. Dive is actually a craft cocktail bar with a unique menu and wonderful staff. Mark and Blake are friendly and their service was top notch. We will definitely be making this a regular stop.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance. I do think the vibes give off a little more than your local dive bar, but a great place overall. Low lighting, cool decor, and great service.
google avatar

Yelp
Really great HH deals and they start as soon as the bar opens. Is called a dive bar but seemed a little more upscale based on the interior. Would definitely come back and see what else they have in store. I did sit outside and will say they still had plenty of mosquitoes even in November so beware if you attract them like me!
google avatar

Rob P.

Yelp
Came here only once back in 2021 and just found pictures of some cocktails they did. It was definitely expected for a cocktail to be this good so close to campus. I'd happily go back, not sure why I haven't?
google avatar

Gabriel C.

Yelp
I'm glad I dropped in for their happy hour old fashioned. If you find yourself around this area, this is a must visit.

Jason S.

Yelp
Place was dead and bartender acted as if I was bothering her. They didn't even have the ingredients to mix a simple cocktail. Too bad, place looked like it could be a cool bar and location
google avatar

Yelp
We last minute had to change the location for my husband's birthday, showed up with over 20 people, and the bartenders didn't skip a beat! All the cocktails on their menu were delicious and they could make whatever we ordered off the cuff as well. I would say it is "dive bar chic," meaning it's clean and cute inside while still being a dive. I can definitely see this being a regular hang out.
google avatar

Dev O.

Yelp
Definitely a good spot if you want to get away from the chaos of downtown. Nice and chill for a Sunday night spot, but still with plenty of people. Major plus for a handicapped spot right out front.
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
What a fun hang out space! Dim and cozy, welcoming, with an extensive cocktail list at decent prices. Also the classic cheap beers people know and love making it a perfect compromise for my husband and I! The cocktails were unique drinks too, including the Brooklyn Maid, basically a mojito/rye old fashioned mash up. Really delicious and creative.

Yelp
We were looking for somewhere to hang out at before we went to a concert at the moody center (and pay an arm and a leg for drinks) and are so happy we found this place! They had happy hour going on when we were there so we got a $5 beer/shot combo. The staff was super friendly, and the vibe is this place was really unique and cool. They did the "dive"/ocean theme really well, and had alternative rock music playing. They also had some cocktails available that looked tasty. I definitely recommend checking out this place if you're in the area or going to moody center!
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
Very unique spot, we stopped here before a concert and had some ice cold beer and one of the best daiquiris I've ever had (don't worry, they don't have blenders here) it's a little pricey but they know what they're doing with that bar program.
google avatar

Alex O.

Yelp
Not a dive bar whatsoever at least the bartender was nice, but cheesy as fuck, not even a pool table common
google avatar

Joe M.

Yelp
Nice place to meet up with friends after work. Good drinks and the servers were attntive. The old fashion was tasty
google avatar

Samantha B.

Yelp
This is definitely more than a dive bar. If you want that vibe, you got it. You can order a beer or well drinks and such. If you want more upscale cocktails, classic or specialty, you got it! My boyfriend tried a couple of their drinks and really enjoyed both of them. The Last Word is a gin drink with green chartreuse, lime, and luxardo. The Funk No 49 is a rum drink with velvet falernum, lime, orgeat, and nutmeg. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
Admittingly I am drawn to a place with a name like Dive Bar & Lounge. You know, already just based off their name, you're going to have some pretty great options on drinks, vibes, and décor. I was pleasantly surprised at the theme here because there is a huge octopus mural beautifully painted on the main wall behind the high top stools and seating area. The whole vibe here is diving and their patio makes you feel like you're swimming and drinking in corral reefs from all of the plants they have out there! Service was fantastic! Our bartenders were super friendly and offered additional specials (beer + shot) when I admitted I wasn't down for a cocktail. They were attentive to everyone even as the crowd picked up past happy hour times. Parking can be tricky but if you are lucky enough to grab a spot directly in front of the bar (probably 5-6 spots) make note that you only have to pay for parking until 6pm during the week. Check the signage on the parking signs from the city though just to make sure. Music was bumping all evening that included some of my favorite Jack White + White Stripes tunes. There are a couple of tvs too so you won't miss a game(s). Looking forward to coming by again with my friends again even outside of happy hour!

Yelp
We had a great date night dinner here with some friends. The service is incredible, the cocktails superb, and the ambiance is approachable and comfortable, yet on trend. Our favorite food items were the deviled eggs, oysters, fried ugali, and the pork schnitzel. But honestly, we tried much more and it was all great. We will definitely be back soon. Thanks Dive Bar!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious drinks and friendly staff! I had 2 Dark and Stormy's and thoroughly enjoyed my time here. The bartenders were super personable and made the time super enjoyable for me and my friends

Josh G.

Yelp
Belle! And birdie! We're the best!! Badass bar to come to! Recommended great drinks and great customer service!
google avatar

Danielle R.

Yelp
Birdy and Bella are the best bartenders. They make you feel like friends vs strangers. They pay attention to everyone and make sure you had a welcomed stay. Visiting Austin for the first time in a long time, will definitely come back just to come here!!
google avatar

Terri S.

Yelp
Had a blast at the Dive Bar!! Went to UT for a writing conference and had an amazing happy hour!! My friend loved her Smoky Rhubarb!! I enjoyed the Bloody Mary! If you stop in try a shot of Screwball Peanut Butter Whiskey!! It's delicious! Bathrooms were clean, and they have a photo booth!
google avatar

Morgan L.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Cool ambience. Espresso martini was very nice. Local beer selection was good.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Excellent staff. Solid drinks (a bit pricey) but exactly what you want from a dive bar. Dark. Dark. Dark. And booze filled.
google avatar

Erin O.

Yelp
This is a bar a decent walk from the UT Austin stadium. Stopped in here for a post game beer and it was not overly crowded. But is a strange layout and not that big. One side is dark and one side is bright. Despite it being described as a dive bar it is pretty clean. Crowd skewed older. Bar takes orders and it can be crowded. Didn't appear to be table service. Not the best beer selection but adequate. Seemed to have a lot of cocktails but I didn't partake.
google avatar

Anna R.

Yelp
We visited on a Wednesday night and the vibes here were immaculate. Softly played music, the bar was almost full but not crowded, the staff was so kind and attentive, and the drinks were great! I'd happily come back here anytime and recommend you do too if you just want a chill evening away from the bustle of 6th street on a weekday.
google avatar

Allison C.

Yelp
My friends and I walked here after an event to grab a drink and escape the heat. Similar to their name Dive Bar and Lounge, the drinks here don't try to reinvent the wheel but instead perfect the classics. There's both seating inside and a patio in the back.
google avatar

Carolyn B.

Yelp
True cocktail classics, superbly made. They don't try to reinvent the wheel with novel, gimmicky drinks, they're just serving really good versions of fancy, post-prohibition cocktails like you'd see in the movies. I always wanted to try an Aviation, but not enough to hunt down and stock the unusual ingredients (maraschino liqueur, crème de violette) in my home bar. So I was super stoked to see Dive Bar had it on the menu (and it was delish). I like that this place feels relaxed like a good dive bar, but with better drinks like a good lounge (aptly named!). The bartenders are friendly and welcoming. The bar spacious. The back patio lovely. Not a fussy place that needs a reservation. Gonna be my downtown go-to for spontaneous drinks!
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Great bartender gave terrific service (I asked for a few shots of Bloody Mary mix in my pint glass to go with my beer, and it was done happily). Surprisingly, the atmosphere was more upscale, contradicting the expectations of a "Dive Bar." Smoking was allowed in the back patio, and there was a Handmade Cocktail Menu. I bar snacks had been free, it would have been a 5 star experience. Nickel and Dime-ing is a pet peeve.

Kim W.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. The service was awesome. Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere was great.

Zach E.

Yelp
literally the best bar in Austin!! Birdy and Bella are Batman and Robin, Buzz Lightyear and Woody!! Sponge-bob and Patrick, Mario and Luigi! they literally know your order before you can even ask for your drink. They greet you when you walk in, they make you feel like you're a regular, and they make a mean Old Fashioned. STOP looking for a bar to go out to, you found it, this is the place.
google avatar

Padre C.

Yelp
True small dive bar. Cool space. Helpful and friendly bartender. Didn't see much to eat.
google avatar

Tatiane G.

Yelp
Ahhhh. We went after a UT game. The mood, the drinks, the people there all were having a good time. The decoration though, very vintage and very "deep" as well. Fun place to meet new people, or to just enjoy some fancy looking and tasty drinks

David D.

Yelp
Stopped in for a beer, and a little popcorn. Service, and product were fine although a bit overpriced in my opinion. HOWEVER, two days later I see another charge to my debit card! (I haven't returned yet) Tried calling to resolve the matter, but no one EVER answers the phone. Waiting for a call back. If this gets resolved, I'll update my review. UPDATE: Received a call back. Issue resolved. Updated stars to 5.

Yelp
Came here with a friend after a night of very hit-or-miss experiences on both ends of 6th St. We were about to call it a night when she decided that we needed to end the festivities on a good note, so I quickly suggested Dive Bar. I've been here in the past, and the staff has always taken good care of me, so it seemed like a good idea. And as it turned out, I was on the money. They were offering $3 wells, and we were sold. It doesn't take much to make us happy, especially when alcohol is involved. The atmosphere was chill and not at all frenzied and hectic like W. 6th, where we'd witness a distraught young woman sit on the ground and start crying about getting kicked out of Greenlight (how do you get kicked out of a place that busy & crowded?!). It was nearly last call, but there were still enough people around for the watching, and the wells drinks were doing their of killing the pain. Life at Dive Bar was good. If I had any complaint, it would be that the pub mix lacked flavor, but when you're getting hammered for cheap, you really don't care about things like that. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get away from the madness of the entertainment district. And I have to give them a round of applause for having the cleanest restroom of any bar in Austin. I've long since resigned myself to stepping in God-knows-what as I take a commercial break while out on the town, but I was very pleasantly surprised to see how clean and well-maintained the ladies room was last night. Five stars for that alone!

Yelp
What a fun bar scuba themed everything..AMAZING DRINKS and Blake makes them PERFECTLY wowww yummm must stop in Austin

Yelp
Came here after leaving a large function from up the street. It's actually a nice little bar, tv's played movies, which is a nice change from sports or news. Bar is a full bar. I'm not a beer drinker, so it's nice when you come across a bar that can actually make a drink. I ordered a Midori Sour, and it was delicious. Was about $7.50 which actually comparative is pretty inexpensive. Lots of seating, art painted on the walls. It's dark and, well, like a dive bar, but in a good way. There's a photo booth which when you're with the right group of friends I'm sure is fun. I just happened to be with new people I just met, so nothing to silly or crazy happening this time. This place feels like it has the same group of people that come here, like Cheers, the bartenders have your drink ready and waiting for you.

Yelp
I loved the lighting and ambiance here! They had string lights all over the hallway to the bathroom that really added a decorative element that stood out. The spot is very small, not a whole lot of seating. When we arrived it wasn't packed, but there wasn't a lot of seating to choose from even then. I really enjoyed the spot, but I wouldn't want to be here if it was busy. No room for standing, and not a lot of seating. They had a lot of interesting cocktails on the menu, and the bartenders were all helpful and very efficient! Since it wasn't too crowded when we went, we had a great time just sitting and talking. They have just enough going on that it isn't silent, but it's still quiet enough that you can hear and talk to the people with you. Plus the added lighting was a plus, cause even though it was dark, I could still see my friends faces as I talked to them. Check this bar out if you are out late in Austin and need a place to hang out!

Nickie B.

Yelp
Yay! I'm a fan. Four stars all the way. They have excellent craft cocktails, the bartender was playing great music (via her playlist on Pandora), the bar and restrooms were clean and we could not have been happier. We will definitely return when we are in the area.

Yelp
DIVE was the bomb. I love a good dive bar and this fit the bill. They do have a drink list with boujee cocktails that looked great, but they can do beers and a shot...or ranch waters (yum) and shots just as well. Elizabeth and Jay are two of the best parts of Dive. They are super nice, attentive, fun and welcoming. They were so great we returned the next night for some fun. The regulars were also a real good time. I know I for one am walking away with some great memories/stories. Seriously, check this place out and have a blast!

Yelp
The bar is sooooo chill. With BLAKE the manager, it's amazing. He has been checking on us all night. Compared to the other bars ive been with we had the best time . He is AMAZINGGGGG I JUST CANT. He knows what is going on, and i love managers taking care of the customers. I will definitely chill at the bar. And I personally thank you him for a the great night

Yelp
Love this little spot near campus. It's a little hidden and easy to miss if you don't pay attention. There is a small patio in the back that seems To be mostly for smoking so be careful before u head out back. The bartenders make great cocktails and remember ur name or what u were drinking. Great place to grab a drink
google avatar

Yelp
Came in on a Wednesday right before a work happy hour - waited at my table then walked to the bar for service . Bartenders never acknowledged me - mind you it WAS NOT BUSY ... worst service ever - go somewhere else **i was at the bar for 10 mins- unfortunately you missed out on a $500+ tab from a work group happy hour ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ **

Jamey G.

Yelp
Went there last night after an event nearby. Loved the laidback atmosphere. Fantastic customer service from the staff.

Yelp
Visited Austin for the first time from Phoenix. Another bartender I met said this is a popular industry after hours spot. With that info, I figured it's great the rest of the time too. And it is! Unassuming exterior, edgy but soothing ambiance inside. Huff made one of the best Old Fashioneds I've ever had (and very reasonably priced). Mark, the manager, couldn't of been more friendly and is a wealth of knowledge of other great places to visit. Ivy was also super friendly and made me feel right at home. This bar isn't among the other popular/touristy areas of Austin, but shouldn't be missed!
google avatar

Yelp
I have floated between San Antonio and Austin for a few years, and end up at Dive with some frequency, not the least among the reasons for that being if id within walking distance of my apartment now. Dive was the first place I had a drink in Austin back in 2015, and it stuck in my mind for years through a combination of the atmosphere, location, quality of drinks, and its name (It's a cute joke to say "I'm at Dive" "you mean a Bar?" "Yeah, Dive." "What?") The tenders are top notch, offering good conversation, ample knowledge, and Johnny-on-the-spot recommendations. If you dislike the crowds on 6th street, this is a great place. The only thing that might steer you away would be some of the 20-something hippies that come in and shout to each other about their six figure salary (but that's a personal objection). My only critique: in the future, if time and money permit, I recommend extending/expanding the bar counter. It crowds up quick, and the seating away from the bar puts you a little out of earshot.

Fred B.

Yelp
Really like this bar. Super chill vibe, friendly staff, great service, and well priced drinks. Would highly recommend swinging by!
google avatar

Rob K.

Yelp
I REALLY like this bar. As others have said I definitely wouldn't classify this as a dive bar, but I would call it a cozy, intimate one. Soft muted lighting, even at mid-day, limited seating that invites everyone to get close and personal, and a great selection of craft beers and cocktails served with kind efficiency that can't help but make you smile. Including my group of 3, there were maybe a dozen of us sharing a Saturday afternoon together and by the time my group left we had 9 new BBFs wishing us well on our way out. Loved it, I look forward to coming back. I MIGHT even tear myself away from the Pecan Porter to try the cocktail of the day or one of the seasonal taps (but, if not, I'll still have a great time there).
google avatar

Kim R.

Yelp
Had to update my review. I still love the dive bar but I'm really sad that Jim is no longer there... it's a totally different feel. Still cool bartenders just not the same. Also, wtf is with that cheap hand soap. Y'all need to bring back the good hand soap!!!!!!!

Kim B.

Yelp
leaving this review before I forget my verbal promise to one of the bartenders (Tyler, right? I'm super terrible with names, but he & his service were incredibly memorable) Both of the bartenders were sweet & attentive -- along with the fact that this place has 2 ply toilet paper. Ok, please stop for a second and think about the last time you were at a public establishment that had 2 ply toilet paper (bar, restaurant, store, etc) you haven't... because it's rare and truthfully unheard of. The drinks + service + general cleanliness of the store/mindfulness of patrons makes this place so enjoyable. I literally drove back just to tip more, and the bartenders were too sweet & humble to accept. what a wholesome place :,)
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
This place defines hole in the wall in a really great way. I love seedy spots with unidentifiable carpet, broken chairs, cigarette burns and lone star but this bar is small, clean, and really well done with its use of space. They've got a nice list of cocktails, a super sweet bartender and a neighborhood vibe. Love that you can order in food in and that the AC is cranked down to about 70. The walls are have sweet posters and funky little decorations (whales and such) as a nice background to their decent selection on tap. Dig the Tommy pinball machine and the dark, cool feel of the place. Though I probably wont get to it a lot as I'm usually up north or downtown, it's definitely a spot I've recommended since my visit. I imagine I'll continue to do so... especially as an alternative to dog and duck.

Yelp
Exactly 1.4 miles from work, super cheap and strong margs ($4 on Mondays), cutey bartender and dark, comfy interior. Ruh. Roh. Most of you know that I'm a professional drinker (don't try this at home, kids), but 2 hours here, 2 margs, 2 fruity shots and $12 later, I stumbled out into the blazing, offensive sunlight befuddled and lookin for food (thank gods the Clay Pit is within stumbling distance and has cheap HH food!). Great cure for a case of the Mondays and also a great way to pre-medicate for a ridonculous Bachelorette watching party. I'll have to make that a weekly tradition next season!
