D.C. Seems to Have More Halloween Pop-Ups Than Ever This Year | Eater DC

"A trip to Richmond reveals Switch turned into “the Haunt,” with walls plastered in missing persons posters and an eerie bathtub that gives off Saw vibes; spooky cocktails include “Love at First Bite” (a red whiskey and Cherry Heering mix served in a blood bag) and a squid-ink–dyed slushee called “Talking Dead.”" - Tierney Plumb

Would definitely recommend this pop up bar in Richmond!! We arrived super early and they were so willing to open their door to us and the family:) with a smile! Which is very rare theses days, all I can say thank you to our wonderful bartender whom made us feel at home! Whole experience was wonderful!!

The idea of this place is very cool. It was not obvious to us that the entire concept changes every 4 months and this seems like it will be quite a tough challenge to pull off. The term pop-up bar implied to me a much less permanent concept. All of that aside, the drinks are extremely unique, I ordered their take on a Manhattan and it came in a glass sphere of ice, very dank. My girlfriend ordered their take on a margarita that was tasty as well. The margarita included a black salt rim and a very dank candied flower petal as a garnish. We didn’t try the food as we had already eaten, but the food menu looked pretty uninspired. Overall the atmosphere was like an acid flashback - in both good and bad ways. The drinks were dank and the happy hour prices were a great value. One critique on the drinks would be that they seem to be overly sweet, not something I could have more than one or two of. We will at least return to see if they pull off the next concept and possibly during happy hour when we’re in the area.

I had always heard about this place, and decided to randomly try it out for a friends birthday late night. I think we caught them in a transition between themes and holidays so decor was limited. However, we still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Bartender was on top of things, drinks were good and rang up correctly. They had a smash bros on the switch to entertain. My only complaint is I wish they had more games but I also think the basement area may have been closed the time we went.

Can't say I was to impressed. The scenery was nice and they really put some thought into their themes and it's nice to have animated drinks but that's just about where I stop. The food was very mediocre and over priced. There was nothing special to it. I ordered empanadas and it definitely wasnt your traditional empanadas. The staff was welcoming and our waitress made sure to check up on us. Maybe later down the road I would consider trying this place out but as this time I feel there other places i could venture out to.

I had a really great time here! I can’t wait until they switch up the theme. But I’m a huge superhero fan and it was sky first time there. The music was amazing, and I had the shrimp quesadillas soooo good. Sadly they were understaffed so it took awhile to get greeted. However I understand because they were so so busy. Our server was very polite and courteous and really tried to be attentive but he was just getting pulled in so many directions. I would def recommend having more people on the floor. The hookah lady was nice as well, snd she was so busy however she still took her time explained everything and was very personable as well.

I love everything about the bar INCLUDING the bartenders! However, I find it highly inappropriate to charge a designers fee WITHOUT telling us! I don't mind the fee, it's worth it, but I don't like being being lied to! Fix this and I will give a 5 star!

After looking at all of the amazing photos of this place on the web, I couldn't wait to bring family and friends here for a great time!! I was really impressed by all the themes they advertised online so when my family came in town for Thanksgiving we headed down there on black Friday. The basement was the only room available when we arrived at 9:30pm. Personally, it looked like a hole in the wall. The only seat available for the 4 of us was directly under the speaker and the music was so loud we couldn't conversate. There were girls dancing with girls but that was it. The d.j. was great, and we ordered a couple of overpriced drinks which required a 20% automatic gratuity. The one bathroom was unisex which led to long lines waiting to go to the bathroom. Truly disappointed and definitely will not go back.

The Willy Wonka theme is amazing!!! Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. However, don't order food here. It's a no go!!! I would have given 5 stars but the food is seriously lacking. They were nice about taking the food off our bill. I will come back for drinks only and of course the themes.
