Bought their hot chocolate, it was so thick and tasty. Probably the best in Montreal! The orange chocolate cake was delicious as well; the owner told me to warm it up for 15 seconds in the microwave before eating, and indeed it’s delicious this way! The milk chocolate caramel was also a treat, so as the maple truffles! So happy I stopped by here! Highly recommended!

This is the first store I went during my first visit to Montreal almost a decade ago, where I call it home now. If you don’t know what to buy, try their cakes, literally divine. Sharing a pic of my angel dog and the cake. I miss them both. 🪽

While visiting Montreal, we walked by Divine Chocolatier, and we decided to check it out; we are so glad that we did. The store is adorable, the chocolates are absolutely delicious, and the woman who helped us couldn’t have been any nicer. We left the beautiful store feeling happy. We most definitely will return on our next visit.

Delicious hot chocolate and chocolates. The hot chocolate was rich, thick, and delicious. My friend and I enjoyed a cup each on a lovely autumn stroll through downtown after a visit to the Musee des beaux arts.

I stopped here to buy chocolates as a gift to being back home while visiting Montreal. The staff person was very friendly and helpful. And, after trying the chocolates later, they were really good. I bought one of the pre-assembled boxes with mixed varieties and I was very impressed with the flavour and quality. I would definitely consider going back when I return to Montreal. They also have ice cream, though I did not try it personally, but might be worth giving a shot on a sunny summer’s day.

One of the most delicious chocolate I’ve ever had! All made in house!

Came upon this little shop while walking around and decided to check it out. The nicest gentleman greeted us and answered all our questions while showing us his wide range of chocolate flavors. I picked only three to test them out, and they definitely did not disappoint. All three (champagne, double espresso, and crown royal whisky) were amazing and the chocolate just melts in your mouth. With a person so dedicated and passionate about the chocolates he makes, I'm for sure coming back. Great gift idea:)

Yelp
These artisan chocolates are amazing! The owner is extremely nice! We ended up visiting twice while we were in Montreal! There are so many great gift options to bring back home! A must stop when you visit Montreal!

Yelp
Be careful! This chocolate is lethal! It's unbelievably good but also unbelievably rich. I tried my first all-real hot chocolate, not made from powder. It was so thick, I had to take a nap afterwards to recuperate my energy. I also ordered the "Secret Dark Chocolate Bar," balls of Guanduja, "Dark Chocolate Fleur de Sel" bar, and about 14 truffles. This place is artisanal- the real deal!- Testing new things, keeping favorites and classics in heavy rotation... I get the feeling that no batch of chocolate is ever the same here.

Yelp
We were treated horribly in this store, accused of touching things for no reason that we were actually in line to buy. The proprietress hinted that the man behind us was stealing as she went to check the inventory. All in all a horrible experience, I would never shop there again.

Yelp
Great chocolate in a cute store. The store is located in Downton Montreal and although they have a few tables and chairs outside, it's more of a to go establishment.

Yelp
They make thier own ice cream and chocolate - and it's all exceptional, possibly the best ice cream I have EVER eaten! Had the chocolate and praline & cream, the p&c was the best "butter pecan" ice cream I have eaten my entire life. Amazing! Outstanding! Not to be missed!

Yelp
This chocolate shop has decent sweets, but no need to go out of your way to visit. I stopped here on my way to the Museum of Fine Arts. The shop is half a flight of steps underground - like entering a chocolate cave. It's not very large inside. There are various chocolate treats, as well as a counter for ice cream. Most of it is cute, though one of the shelves had "Kama Sutra" chocolates, which I found quite unprofessional, and which certainly detracted from the store's charm. I got a truffle and a chocolate-on-a-spoon. The truffle was delicious. The spoon chocolate, on the other hand, was one frustration after another. Getting it unwrapped without scissors was painful, since the ribbon was tied so tightly. I had to break the spoon just to get it free of the wrapper. Then I bit into it and it all crumbled apart and fell off the spoon! Obviously this isn't all the shop's fault (most of it's due to my own incompetence), but I think I won't get it again. Overall a so-so experience. Feel free to check it out and decide for yourself if you're in the area.

Yelp
I consider myself a chocolate connoisseur. When I travel (abroad or at home in the states), I sample the local artisan chocolates everywhere I go. Specifically, I look for a chocolatier who makes fresh truffles, who knows how to do dark chocolate (it should never be bitter and should never be over-sweetened or over-powered with vanilla, and who is creative and careful with natural flavors. After visiting 5 carefully selected chocolatiers in Montreal, this one was hands-down the best. This spot is near Concordia University and gets high enough ratings on Yelp and other sites that I went out of my way to find it. Long story short, the chocolate truly IS divine. The dark chocolate is neither bitter nor over-sweetened. The flavors are delicate and natural. The rose water truffle had just the slightest hint of rose and other flavors (banana, pistachio, marzipan, etc.) were natural, obvious and yet not overpowering. This is one of the best chocolatiers I've ever visited. It's second only to the truffles I tried in Berlin last year at Confiserie Mélanie. I enjoyed Divine Chocolatier so much, that I went out of my way to make a second stop before leaving the city.

Yelp
I came here today to pick up some goodies to bring back to NYC and wow, the shop is so smol and quaint. The storefront is so attractive and inside is almost like one of those old chocolate shops that you rarely see anymore. The owner which was this elderly lady was such a darling. She was very attentive and offered each customer a lil nibble of chocolate with their purchase. She's honestly so sweet. Would definitely come back again.

Yelp
I honestly cannot believe that anyone in their right mind would rate this chocolate highly. Incredibly expensive for terrible chocolate. I stopped at Divine Chocolatier after trying a few other shops, such as Juliette & Chocolat, in search of some gifts to bring back home. We were offered a crispy rice milk chocolate which was fine. The chocolatier and the other person working at the shop were very kind and attentive. But the chocolate itself is terrible. The chocolates come with a card which states that no preservatives or artificial flavors are used. One chocolate we chose, the chocolate covered cherry, was a cheap maraschino cherry which is literally bleached. Feel free to research online how commercial maraschino cherries are produced--I guarantee you'll never eat another again. You can tell they are not produced in-house because of the bleached stem. A far cry from "no preservatives or artificial flavors". Another chocolate, called the "Bella Rose" was meant to have a rose-flavor. It tasted like shampoo! I would highly recommend the shop to increase the quality of whatever extract they are using. We tasted about 5 other chocolates. The actual quality of the chocolate is mediocre. No better than a Lindt chocolate bar one can find in the supermarket. I feel bad posting a review like this one, but it is how me and my partner feel (both of us have worked in the restaurant industry for a combined 20+ years, and my partner has extensive training in pastry). A very fancy place that is excellent for those that are looking for that particular chic ambience.

Yelp
Amazing chocolate! I came here while visiting Montreal and this place was great. The woman behind the counter was so so pleasant---so nice and polite. Each chocolate I bought was delicious, it was like I couldn't choose wrong. I also had a free sample of a chocolate bar, and it was so good I ended up buying one of those too. Not cheap though! I would come here expecting to pay high prices for high quality

Yelp
This establishment is nice, but not spectacular. While they do carry a varied assortment of chocolates and other items, it's not impossible to find these elsewhere. If, however, you're in a bind, you can pretty easily be able to pick something from their selection. The drawbacks of this place are that the staff are not all that well versed in the products, and if they were, then it didn't really translate well across the counter. Second, a chocolatier should have available chocolate covered fruit, even a few (they require a 48 hour notice). This place is pricey, and does not accept all major credit cards (the cashier verbalized her extreme displeasure at the prospect of accepting certain cards). Overall, a rather mediocre experience.

Yelp
Hand crafted artesenal chocolates, there really wasn't anyway I could go wrong. I had heard of Divine from a few friends and decided to visit. The selection was amazing and every piece of chocolate was a gastronomic work of art. The owner Richard and his wife Jindy were the most kind and patient people I have ever met. They began by asking me what I liked to eat and tailored a box of chocolates to my pallete. The entire process was an experience in and of itself. I sampled a dark chocolate truffle and it was out of this world, such rich and flavourful tastes dancing in my mouth. While waiting I mentioned casually my love of sorbets and almost as if on cue Richard produced a lemon sorbet that was exquisite! I will definitely go back and make this a permanent stop on future Montreal visits.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place! It's a cute little shop with adorable nick-knacks and AMAZING chocolate. It is a little expensive but definitely worth it. The staff was super friendly and there are some seats available so you may sit and have hot cocoa and chocolates. I find this place to be perfect for couples.

Yelp
Don't go to this store. The man and woman, I don't know whether they are the owners of the store or not but guess they are, were very arrogant and rude. Who do they think they are? King and Queen? They shouldn't run this kind of business if they don't like people coming to their store. The woman was ignorant too. She told me to talk to their employee who can speak Chinese, not to her. There are Asians who are not Chinese, you miserable lady! Unbelievable that I experienced this kind of bs in Montreal, Canada!

Yelp
Right next to where we were staying is Divine Chocolatier. It's an adorable shop with a lot of chocolate goodies. I came to buy some dark chocolate bars but we also brought a few truffles. They were all, dare I say it, divine (okay bad joke I know). But they were indeed very good. They clearly have a passion for chocolate.

Yelp
The little place has an adorable shop front, and the inside is not too big, but they have a good assortment of goodies. Although be aware, it is pricey. A small chocolate bar can cost close to $6CAD. I bought the candied orange ginger dark chocolate bar, and it is DELISH. The dark chocolate is not too bitter or too sweet, and the candied citrus fruits on top compliment the flavors perfectly. I only had the strawberry ice cream flavor, which is also a little pricey but it was very good. It doesn't have much of that gross artificial strawberry taste. And the ice cream was creamy and had a decent amount of real frozen strawberry chunks. Would definitely recommend this place to pass by for dessert if you're on a date or want to fulfill a quick sweet tooth or need to buy gifts for someone. In the store front there are some metal chairs/tables you can sit and enjoy your goodies. However this is definitely not somewhere to frequently buy stuff or you'll go bankrupt with cavities...

Yelp
Everything looked and smelled lovely but, although we were the only customers, the proprietress was rude and impatient with our group of 4 (including two older gentlemen). Ultimately she ripped up our order and we left. Au revoir? Non.

Jacques L.

Yelp
While their candies are great (for Montreal), it is evident that they're a bit too big for their britches - and will nickel and dime you at every curve. After purchasing over $295 in candies for a gift, I asked what would be offered as far as packaging. The proprietor offered me the choice of several baskets (from Dollarama) for an up-charge of $45 each. Once I finished catching my breath after a hearty laugh, she had the nerve to say, "well maybe another store would be within your budget." Hi - I just spent $95 on a f*cking chocolate bunny and an additional $200 on random candies. I don't have a budget, but I have a brain! Thanks anyway, Nastina, but next Easter I'll order from NYC online.

Yelp
Montreal on 12/31/18. Quite cold that day. Walking around Peel and Crescent Streets, ready for a hot chocolate. Saw Divine Chocolatier's holiday window display and it was worthy of a photo. Went in, no other customers, interesting displays all around. Proprietor spent a few minutes crafting what was a delicious hot choc and a hot fudge. Chatted for several more minutes, very affable gent. Took some truffles home, and they were superb. Very pleasant respite from the windy day in Mtl. If you are nearby, treat yourself!

Yelp
Incredible Chocolate Experience!!! As soon as you enter this establishment, you know its not your run of the mill chocolate manufacturers. Upon opening the doors, your senses are assaulted with orgasmic smells of chocolate. You are fully surrounded by chocolates that are 100% hand made just at the back of the store. The taste of the chocolate is like nothing I've had before....simply divine!!! Instead of wasting good money on other places, invest it in a chocolate experience you won't soon forget.

Yelp
The best hot chocolate I have EVER had. It's an experience. Do this as a special treat after a museum visit. Your heart will race.

Yelp
The chocolate literally melts in your mouth. Its unbelievably good. The shopkeeper (the Choclatier's wife) is sweet and friendly and will gladly give you a sample of whatever you are interested in. They have a little seating area in their charming store. We felt welcomed and valued as customers. I bought waaaayy too much chocolate to bring home, but it was worth every penny. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I visited the Monday after the 2016 Grand Prix weekend. Richard, the owner, was there, and since I was the only customer in the shop, we spent a good hour just chatting about chocolate. He taught me all sorts of things, including the proper way to enjoy a truffle. He is a wonderful story teller, and truly loves his work, which shows through in the quality of his product. I also felt that he truly cared about my opinion, and wanted to enlighten me. In addition, he gave me some incredible restaurant recommendations. After sampling some of the best of Europe, I was shocked to see how much better chocolate could be. For instance - if you eat a blended truffle that has nut in it - Richard's interior blending of that nut was so much smoother than anything I've experienced before. It was crisp, which is a unique sensation you must experience for yourself. The chocolate is on the expensive side. But just like a fine pair of shoes, once you've done it, you can never go back. I plan to buy a big box next year, and would highly recommend a visit if you're even vaguely curious.

Yelp
First of all the owner..(husband and wife) was so delightful and passionate about the chocolate her husband creates...it was just a joy talking to her about all his amazing creations. The chocolate was superb. Probably the best I've had in years and I eat quite a bit of chocolate. Always looking for that one brilliant piece. I found it here. You could taste the love that is poured into each piece. I wish I had bought more!!!!!

Yelp
I brought home about 20 chocolates that I custom-selected from the display, and I am in HEAVEN. I look forward to savoring these one by one over the course of... a night or two. Seriously, these are a cut above even your typical higher-end chocolate shop, and worth seeking out.

Yelp
This place was my favorite while visiting Montreal. They've got great chocolate and to top it off, have the best cocoa! The service was great! Got offered water when she saw that I was about to have a sugar attack, good thing she did because I would have been bouncing off the walls.
google avatar

Kajani C.

Yelp
The place is nice, ice cream is over priced. Had the pistachio flavour, maybe the batch was bad, tasted very grainy. Was not worth the money.
google avatar

Dani S.

Yelp
I bought 4 small truffles, 1 chocolate rose and a small hot chocolate spoon (you use to make hot chocolate with) and all of this cost me close to $30!! The chocolate was good but nothing special and I really find it very expensive! I've had much cheaper chocolate elsewhere and the quality was as good. In my opinion, I rather spend my hard earned money elsewhere.

Carina H.

Yelp
Saw this cute little store on Rue Crescent and decided to go in to take a peek. On the side near the counter there is the real stuff. Amazing rich chocolate truffle ice cream that you can get either in a waffle cone or a cup. The ice cream is rich, sweet, and creamy. It is very thick yet smooth as well. I recommend checking this store out not only for ice cream but for the knick knacks as well such as the assortment of boxed chocolates, a fancy silver hot chocolate maker that comes with a wood churner, chocolate spoons, the little chocolates, and chocolate spread. If you are looking for sugar free chocolate they have a good selection of that as well. All in all a cute place with a nice store front. I would probably go back to try the pistachio ice cream one day.

Susanna C.

Yelp
I found my way in here on a recommendation for a nearby (walkable) chocolatier from my hotel's concierge. It is a quiet little shop down several steps just a 1/2 block from the wonderful Musee des Beaux-Arts in Montreal. The woman behind the counter was, it turns out, the wife of the self-taught chocolate master, who started selling his own chocolates in the 1970s. Yummy! The woman was incredibly knowledgeable, not pushy at all, and gave me a sample while she got my order together. When I mentioned the recommendation from the man at the hotel, she wrapped him up a special seasonal (only 2 left for the year!) truffle as a thank you (yes, I did deliver it!). Great experience. Great chocolate.

Yelp
Like stepping into an old world chocolate shoppe experience. Lovely. Helpful staff person explained everything. All hand made chocolates.

Brian L.

Yelp
The chocolate truffle ice cream tasted like a miracle from heaven, not overly sweet but bold and strong flavour to last the perfect chocolate taste on your tongue.

Katie M.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Great chocolate and the owner is so nice. We walked a good distance in the snow to try this place and it was worth it!

Alan R.

Yelp
Excellent chocolate. Need I say more. I am a chocoholic because of this shop. Tip: try the chocolate ice cream.

Zahara O.

Yelp
A chocolate store that hates kids! I went into this store with my 5 year old son. The woman in the shop bristled at every thing my son touched. I was about to buy a bar when she took issue with him touching a piece of paper (a little price sign)! I decided it was best to get my son out of there but just as I was stepping out of the store, the woman starts yelling at me for not buying the bar of chocolate. She actually made a scene in front of a child. Don't go to this store with your children unless you want to take the risk that they will be made to feel unwelcomed.
