I visited the Monday after the 2016 Grand Prix weekend. Richard, the owner, was there, and since I was the only customer in the shop, we spent a good hour just chatting about chocolate. He taught me all sorts of things, including the proper way to enjoy a truffle. He is a wonderful story teller, and truly loves his work, which shows through in the quality of his product. I also felt that he truly cared about my opinion, and wanted to enlighten me. In addition, he gave me some incredible restaurant recommendations.
After sampling some of the best of Europe, I was shocked to see how much better chocolate could be. For instance - if you eat a blended truffle that has nut in it - Richard's interior blending of that nut was so much smoother than anything I've experienced before. It was crisp, which is a unique sensation you must experience for yourself.
The chocolate is on the expensive side. But just like a fine pair of shoes, once you've done it, you can never go back. I plan to buy a big box next year, and would highly recommend a visit if you're even vaguely curious.
