It's always a good time at The Dixie Roadhouse. Wednesdays are "ladies night" which means ladies get in for free and $1 drinks until midnight. There's also a prize wheel that you can spin for prizes. Thursdays are more mellow and consist of the "regulars". Thursdays are also throwback nights so they play an awesome selection of 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s songs. Also, throwback prices on drinks. Not quite as energetic as Wednesdays or the weekend. Friday and Saturdays are typically the busiest nights here. If you want the full experience on any given night, come earlier -- around 9:30-10:00. You'll see that the music and crowd vastly changes around 11:00 and onward. Earlier in the night, they tend to play country music and as the night goes on, they start playing rock, rap/hip hop and pop music. The line dancing doesn't stop much either, the crowd will line dance to ANYTHING. It tends to get pretty crowded after midnight like any typical dance club.
Drinks are not cheap (unless it's Thursday), but not unreasonably expensive either. It will still be well under $10 per premium shot and typically mixed drinks will run you about $7-10. The cover charge is $5, but if you are military, fire, police or work for lee county hospital system, it's typically free.
Next door which is connected, there is the bar called Rockade. That's more of a traditional bar if you aren't into the whole line dancing and/or country music scene.
One of the biggest down sides of this establishment is that smoking is permitted inside. It can get pretty smokey inside and expect your clothing and hair to smell of smoke at the end of the night. Unfortunately, there's just no way around it.
Towards later in the night, it gets very crowded -- thus, getting a drink will be much more difficult. That's just the nature of ANY bar that gets crowded. If you need water, there are two large water coolers near the men's restroom in the back with disposable cups. Save yourself the time and hassle of having to get in line with the bartender for a glass of water.
In all honesty, if you aren't into country music and/or line dancing, then this place is probably not for you unless you like to "people watch". Otherwise, this place is absolutely awesome! Good vibe, great people, fun line dances and many smiles throughout the night. Nothing even comes close to a good time out in this area in my honest opinion.
Just a pro tip, if you don't know any of the dances, don't hesitate to try and mimic the regular dancers or even ask them how to do the dances FROM THE SIDE. But for the love of god, don't be that belligerent drunk a**hole who plants himself/herself in the middle of the dance floor bumping into everyone and their moms as they peacefully try to line dance and have a good time. No, the center of attention does not belong to you! As any place that has a coordinated dance floor, there are dance floor etiquettes.
