"Days could be limited for that Dixie’s fried chicken. The Southern-styled restaurant has been open in St. Paul since 1985, but the restaurant’s owner Peter Kenefick is working on an apartment building proposal that would end the eatery’s long tenure. Kenefick along with developer Reuter Walton have proposed tearing down the existing building that houses Dixie’s along with Emmett’s Public House and Saji-Ya to build a new four and a half story apartment building. Inside the new structure would be ground floor space for some retail/restaurants. As it stands, Emmett’s Public House, an Irish/Whisky-bar and Saji-Ya, a sushi restaurant would re-open inside the building. A virtual community meeting is scheduled on Zoom with Kenefick and Walton for 7 p.m. Thursday, and another for 7 p.m. on April 8. Pre-registration is required at Bit.ly/695grand." - Joy Summers

Dixies is the place for southern food in the Twin Cities! I've been going for over five years now and never once had a bad experience. Even with delivery or take out. A must is their Shrimp and Grits, Jambalaya, barbacue, wings and shephards pie. They have quite an array and it's always finger licking great!

We were on vacation from the South. I was looking for a taste of the south in while in MN. I found what I was looking for at Dixies on Grand. The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered Shrip and Grits and it was delicious. In fact delicious is an understatement. I definitely recommend this place to anyone whose looking for a taste of the South in the Northern territory. (I accidentally deleted the pics of the food from my phone...sorry)

Only ordered some apps this time - pulled pork sliders, andouille baked beans and mac & cheese. The baked beans had great flavor but only about 3 pieces of sausage. The mac & cheese was underwhelming, lacking flavor and creaminess. The pork sliders on the other hand were incredible. Really nice staff and a good sized patio area.

I came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm with two others. The mimosas and A1: deliciousness is a gland and worth every penny and more--especially with 75¢ refills! While the brunch offerings are limited, the food they did was was tasty. The waitress was one of the best I've had: super attentive, friendly, honest about offerings and she also ensured that our glasses were never empty. If for no other reason, than the mimosas.

Delicious fried chicken. But the surprises were the grits and the crab bisque. Absolutely amazing. Coconut shrimp salad was average. I would have preferred a non fried option. Service was great.

What a flavorful experience...literally! I've found that it's hard to find a restaurant that naturally has flavor in the north. I have to add salt and pepper to almost everything...but not Dixie's! The food was great, the service was good and the vibe was just very chill and diverse. The shrimp and grits is AMAZING. The portion is perfect, the taste is on point and the shrimps are real!

Food was ok, but it tasted even better when I added my hot sauce. They have a good happy hour with some good drinks.
