Dậm Coffee Bar - Review - Highland - Austin - The Infatuation

"Dậm is a Vietnamese coffee shop that specializes in phin coffee and matcha. The menu is small, mostly featuring hot and iced Vietnamese coffees with condensed milk, plus a handful of signature lattes. There’s also a small selection of pastries, plus a Vietnamese restaurant next door when you inevitably get a craving for bánh mì. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Nicolai McCrary

Rating: 4/5 Dam is a spacious coffee shop with plenty of seating and a calm atmosphere. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty quiet inside. The drink cup sizes do run a bit small though. Matchanana ($7) + Oat Milk ($0.75): There was a lot of banana cream, which ended up overpowering the matcha, making it hard to taste. I also don't think they topped my drink with banana chips like in some of the photos. However, if you love banana, this drink is definitely for you. Strawberry Matcha Latte ($7) + Oat Milk ($0.75): Better than the Matchanana. The matcha flavor was stronger, and their strawberry syrup is one of the best I've tried. My husband asked for his drink to be sweeter, and the extra jam they added made it even better. Overall, the matchas didn't stand out, but I would come back to try their Vietnamese coffee.

I stopped by recently and tried their Hanoi Egg Coffee and a matcha drink, and both were absolutely delightful. The Hanoi Egg Coffee was rich, creamy, and smooth — the perfect balance of strong espresso and velvety sweetness. The matcha drink was equally impressive. The shop itself has such a warm and inviting atmosphere — minimalist yet stylish decor, soft lighting, and plenty of comfortable seating. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, study, or catch up with friends for hours.

Love how warm and welcoming the atmosphere of this new business is. Very cozy place to come in and study, though noise levels can get a bit high during peak service times. The coffee is a lot stronger than I’m used to, which was a surprise, but once I knew what to expect I thought it tasted great! The owners and people behind the counter have all been extremely friendly as well, and I’ve consistently felt very welcomed in the space. I’ll definitely be a repeat customer here! :)

I stopped by here during my recent visit to Austin before heading to ACL Fest for a quick pick-me-up and it was so worth it! The banana matcha was something I never expected to enjoy and ended up loving it! The banana flavor was just right and didn’t overpower the matcha. The cafe itself is cute, comfy, and seems like a popular place to study or to hangout. I will be coming back during my next visit to Austin!

Google
Their soft opening week was very busy! It took about 45 minutes waiting in line to get drinks. We ordered Vietnamese coffee and a pistachio latte. Both were delicious! They did a good job redecorating the interior and making the seating area cozy. It's great to see a new coffee shop getting lots of business, but I'd strongly recommend going during their non busy hours if you're looking to just grab a coffee and go.

Google
Absolutely incredible Vietnamese coffee — bold, rich, and deeply aromatic! The first sip delivers that signature smooth sweetness with a hint of chocolate and caramel. It’s strong enough to wake you up, yet silky and balanced, leaving a lasting, satisfying finish. But what truly makes the experience stand out is the staff — they’re absolute rockstars!

Google
I recently visited Dâm Coffee Bar because I have been a little obsessed with oat milk matcha with a pump of vanilla, and I am on the hunt for the best one in Austin. This spot simply won me over. The place is beautiful, very calm, and comfortable to work from, and the matcha was absolutely divine. The service could be better, but overall I really enjoyed my visit. Definitely coming back!

Google
Wow—- Where do I begin… Absolutely LOVED my first visit here! I tried the Strawberry Matcha Latte and the Pistachio Latte—both were incredible. The strawberry matcha was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, with a fresh fruit flavor that complemented the earthy matcha so well. The pistachio latte was rich, nutty, creamy, and smooth—definitely one of the best I’ve had. So much intentionality put into their craft. The shop itself has such a cozy, welcoming vibe, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home. Perfect spot to catch up with a friend or get some work done while sipping on something unique and delicious. Can’t wait to come back and try more drinks from their menu!

Yelp
This place is so nice!! It used to be Feng Cha but Dam coffee took over and remodeled it and it looks amazing. The owner was really nice and attentive. The space is so spacious and there are lots of outlets for you to study/work. It's on ACC campus and there is a parking garage right behind the store with lots of parking spaces. I got their Matchanana, which is a matcha latte with banana cold foam and whole milk, and the drink was perfectly sweet! The matcha taste comes through and the banana foam does not overpower the matcha at all. They hand-whisk their matcha per order so it can take a bit but the quality is top tier. There are about 3-4 Asian coffee shops in the area but in my opinion, this place makes the best matcha drinks! I will definitely come back to try other drinks and also the coffee. Highly recommend :)

Yelp
Solid coffeeshop with warm, cozy ambiance! This newly opened Vietnamese coffee shop offers lots of different Vietnamese items - from black, basic ca phe sua da to more complex one like Egg coffee and coffee with salted cold foam. They also have a variety of matcha drinks with flavorings too. we just tried the egg coffee - egg cream was very smooth, not eggy at all. Coffee underneath was nice and strong. I wish the coffee underneath was less sweet because the egg cream was already sweetened. Staffs are very nice and gave our pup a whipped cream cup. He loves it so much!!

Yelp
Overall, good vibes. I liked the interior decorations. I felt like the banana matcha latte was a little too bland and I would have liked it if there was a little more banana flavor to the profile. I felt like it was more a matcha with whipped cream with a slight hint of banana. The banana chips at the top were a great addition, but felt like that was the only part that indicated it was banana flavored. I asked the owner for the best matcha and this was her recommendation. Maybe I was too hyped up and had too much of a high expectation. The saigon latte coffee was very strong and would be a great option for coffee lovers.

Yelp
I haven't tried the coffee here so cannot speak about that. However, I am a big fan of their strawberry matcha latte. It is so creamy, milky, and decadent. I have also tried their pistachio foam/topping and it was absolutely delightful, rich in pistachio flavor. The atmosphere is also welcoming here, perfect place to do work. Very friendly staff and quick service. Convenient parking garage nearby. Definitely give them a try!

Yelp
Service is fast, ambiance is chic, tons of seating area to choose from. Drinks also slay, what more you can ask for! I tried the strawberry matcha latte (opt out of simple syrup, only use strawberry puree for sweetness) and it strike the perfect balance of not too sweet drink. Also tried original matcha latte with no change and whole milk, the match flavor really shine through, the amount of simple syrup is perfectly crafted. Can't wait to try other drinks on the menu!

Yelp
I will dream about this matcha!!! I'm not sure how I'm going to live without it. Tried the machanana which was matcha with banana cream and omg! Mind blown. It was rich and creamy only issue was it wasn't enough! I could drink this everyday. Very cute establishment, simple menu, great staff with sense of humor. Will be back ASAP.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots I visited in Austin! It's the perfect work from home. The drinks were amazing - I'm a matcha girly and it's by far one of the best that I've had. The staff were friendly and I loved their playlist! Also loved the many different mirrors they had in the shop, perfect for selfies hehe. Will definitely visit again when I am back in town!
google avatar

Briana N.

Yelp
Honestly I want to try every single item on their menu, but for my first time, I went with the matchanana. The matcha and banana flavors both come through really well, but I feel like it's not as creamy as other matchas I've had.

Yelp
Was craving a strawberry matcha latte and Dam delivered!!! There still in soft opening, so be patient Drinks are great, vibes are great. Welcome to the neighborhood!!

Yelp
Went to their grand opening today and, while the matcha hype is very very real and there was quite the crowd, the drink that I got didn't live up to what I was hoping for. Now let me say, the inside is very cute and spacious, so it does have a good vibe. Didn't get the pw for the WiFi so can't speak to if it'd be a good place to work remotely, but the seating & decor was nice and calming. I got a standard matcha latte with oat milk. They sweeten it (unless you ask them not to), and make it upon order. However, due to it being the grand opening, it took about 20 min to order and then another 10 min to get my drink. The matcha was very earthy and less umami that I was hoping. Not very creamy, so maybe the other types (like the banana matcha) would even it out, but just for a simple matcha, this is not my fav place in town.

Yelp
I went twice during their soft opening in the morning. I honestly didn't have to wait very long but both times I went at around 10:30 on a Sunday and brought work to do. The people here are very nice, it's genuinely a Vietnamese family owned business. I tried the saigon latte, coco mocha, matcha latte and the strawberry matcha. Saigon latte: 4/5, the flavors were solid but this thing is SOOO caffeinated in my opinion which isn't a bad thing but just a fair warning to everyone. I was wired wired from this drink Coco mocha: 1/5 would not recommend. It's just not my cup of tea.... I felt like the only flavor was coconut but that mixed with the coffee gave it a very bitter taste. Matcha latte: 3.5/5 not bad matcha but nothing crazy. Very basic Strawberry matcha: 4/5, need a straw for this because the strawberry purée is all at the bottom. The puree is actually really nice and fresh tasting!! Overall not a bad place to get some drinks and get some work done. It does get a bit loud so bring some headphones and the bathrooms are a little wonky (doors don't close properly and huge gaps but whatever).

Yelp
How your eye? DAMNNNN! I love a chance to drop a Friday reference. And I'm not even sure if this place is pronounced Dam, but their drinks have me screaming that. I came for their soft opening while I was in Austin recently and their posts were flooding my socials. I came for the hype and stayed for the drinks. My favorite was the Matchanana. They were still in their soft opening phase so I gave their staff a pass. They are super nice and attentive. I can't wait to stop by again the next time I'm in Austin to try their other drinks

Yelp
I think this replaced a popular boba chain, and I'll start off with the positives. The interior is gorgeous, and I love what they did with the space. It gives the feel of a LA coffee or boba shop. The menu is really good, and I had a hard time deciding whether or not I wanted matcha or coffee. They also make the matcha drinks by hand (I saw them hand mixing in matcha bowls), so you can trust that you're not getting a premade matcha drink. The negatives. It took forever for them to make my drink... and they didn't even make my second drink before I left. The service was awful and like someone else said, they really need to work on their timing. When I ordered my two drinks, there were nearly 6 other parties waiting for their drinks and I could tell they'd made themselves comfortable and had been waiting for quite a while. Because I was in a rush, I asked where my drinks were and they skipped the line to make ONE of my two drinks before they returned back to making other drinks. Another reviewer said it perfectly - "they don't have an order of how to make the drinks; they skip people over due to the pressure of people asking where their drinks are, and it just confuses the drink order process". I totally get that they're in their soft opening era, but the drinks themselves aren't worth the long wait either. I only got one of the drinks I ordered before I had to leave, and it was the Vietnamese latte. There was barely any flavor, and the condensed milk didn't make the drink any sweeter.

Yelp
It is an open coffee shop near ACC. I got the Saigon latte and it has no taste of coffee; it is a very watered-down espresso shot. Service needs to be better. From the time I got my receipt to getting my drink was about 30 minutes. While I waited, there were one or two people who just gave up and left. They don't have an order of how to make the drinks; they skip people over due to the pressure of people asking where their drinks are, and it just confuses the drink order process. They also should move to a number system to speed things up instead of manually writing down people's names, as I can see they were having issues saying certain names or even spelling them, and now they have extra drinks waiting for people. They offered to give me someone else's drink because it was taking a while, but I said that wasn't my name (they did this twice). The inside is spacious, but your voice will carry here and there, and there is no sound damping here. Another reason to move to a number system since no one is going to hear their name. Hopefully, they learn during their month-long soft opening soon, as they are right next to ACC, and school is starting soon. There will be a bigger rush.

Yelp
Tried the pumpkin matcha this time around and it was amazing! Highly recommend trying while it is in season :)

Yelp
The iced banana matcha latte was one of the best matcha drinks I have had, and definitely the best I have tried in Austin! The banana flavor is not that strong in my opinion, but it was good regardless. The drink was super creamy and adequately sweet. The place was super busy, but I got the drink at a reasonable time and the staff were friendly. There are tables inside to hang out or study. Overall 11/10 drink!

Yelp
I got the hue salted coffee and it was so good! the cream is a little salty which brings out the coffee flavor so well. highly recommend if you like a little salty and sweet combo. Respect to the single staff working there when i went on a friday afternoon! great service!

Yelp
I was so excited to visit Đậm Coffee Bar after seeing news of their soft opening. Their menu appears simple yet curated and offers many drinks not typically found in other coffee shops. The interior is super cute and there's plenty of seating for studying or hanging out. Unfortunately, I visited in the afternoon on a really busy day during their soft opening promotions, and they were out of most of their drinks/ingredients. I was able to order a Classic Iced Viet Coffee and a Pistachio Latte. I thoroughly enjoyed both of the drinks. I love that their drinks are not too sweet which really brings out the taste of the coffee. Sometimes I get put off by Vietnamese coffees that have too much condensed milk, but this one was perfect! The Pistachio Latte was also really good with a well balanced pistachio flavor. Even with the large crowd, the staff were still very nice and attentive. They tried their best to accommodate the large crowd and make sure everyone was aware of the missing items on their menu while waiting in line. I would love to come back now that they are officially open and try different coffee items and their matchas as well!

Yelp
I loved this space! Quiet enough to do work, but inviting enough to sit and chat. The location is very accessible and grabbing a coffee here and walking around the area is a perfect day. The coffee itself was very coffee-flavored. It has coffee jellies in it! I do usually prefer my drinks on the sweeter side, but my sister likes it strong and this is her cup of joe! She got the matcha which I tried, it was very fresh. I want to try the matcha with fruit as it looked delicious and like a good balance. Service was also pretty quick even with a line!

Yelp
I was craving matcha, and I found this place. I decided to get a strawberry matcha latte, and I'm so glad I did! It was delicious. The ingredients tasted fresh. I enjoyed it so much, I wish I got a second order. I think they just have one size and not a large size (?). The service was super friendly and hospitable. I felt at home here. There was plenty of seating inside. I think the location is perfect for students at ACC. The street parking is not so great, but there's a parking structure right next door. It's free! I'll definitely come back and maybe get two orders of the strawberry matcha latte. ;)

Yelp
Tucked into an apartment building off Airport Boulevard is a fun Viet cafe serving up good coffee and cozy vibes. We ended up here looking for a nice place to do a bit of remote work and Dam definitely excels at this. Between the cozy vibes and friendly atmosphere, it's easy to lock in and get some work done (or not, let's be honest about remote work). The place is clean and has a nice aesthetic to it too if you're someone who looks for a certain feel to places you want to do work at. The wifi is fast here making it easy to do things like Zoom calls or stream something during a study break. Seating is also pretty comfortable, especially for prolonged seating that you'll end up doing if you stay for a bit. Since Austin Community College is right next door there's some spots to park but we're not sure if they're permit only so beware of that. A lot of people come in and out but not in a noisy way, just in a way that makes the place feel like it has a lot of life. Armed with a delicious Viet iced coffee and a safe clean environment, you can absolutely lose the hours here. The Viet iced coffee was bold and sweet, the perfect mix of flavors, although the size/portion of it could be a bit larger, but oh well. There's not much more to say so if you're an ACC student or live in the area and want a boost for your day definitely stop by.

Yelp
I heard a lot about this place and there was a lot of hype about it so I had to check it out. Initially I wanted to come a few weeks ago but they had run out of matcha at the time so I made an attempt a few weeks later. When I came there was not wait and my drink came out very quick. I got a strawberry matcha and it tasted alright. Though I will say I've had better strawberry matchas before. The size of the drink was also kind of smaller than I thought. I do also wish there were more drink options.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by for an iced matcha latte with oat milk one afternoon. It was tasty and I thought the matcha was pretty good. It was fairly busy but service was quick. There's a fair amount of indoor seating if you're looking for a place to work or study, though it's all one big open room. Overall I'd recommend it if you're in the area!

Yelp
Came here for their soft opening and was really excited to try their matcha. Unfortunately they had run out the day before which was a bummer. However they had plenty of other really interesting drink options. Our group got the pistachio latte, Vietnamese coffee, and fresh tango. All the drinks were really good and my favorite was the pistachio latte. The Vietnamese coffee was too strong for the people in our group and we went to ask for more milk and they upgraded our cups which was super nice of them! I wish they had more seating but will definitely be back to try other drinks.

Yelp
Finally found a legit matcha latte in Austin! I used to have a banana matcha in Houston and totally loved it--been craving it since then, and guess what, I found it here! The matcha flavor is actually strong (super important!! In the U.S., most matcha lattes are so weak... basically no matcha taste at all). The banana adds a creamy sweetness that goes perfectly with the matcha. And the crunchy matcha chips on top? Such a nice touch--delicious till the very last sip. The café itself is spacious with a relaxing vibes, with a covered parking lot right next to it, and the service was really friendly. Definitely coming back for this drink again!

Yelp
true vietnamese coffee isn't hard to find in austin, but i'm glad a new viet cafe has opened!! their egg coffee tastes like a dessert, sweet, creamy, and decadent. the sea salt coffee is a bit too salty for me, but the coffee itself was good
google avatar

Betsie R.

Yelp
I tried this place for the first time today and ordered the iced matchanana and the pistachio latte. The matchanana was outstanding! Some of the best matcha I've tasted in Austin. The pistachio latte was a little too bitter for me so I wouldn't order that again. The place is easily accessible with a large parking lot just down the street and the staff were so friendly. I will definitely return to order their matcha again!
google avatar

Eina D.

Yelp
I came for their soft opening as the 20% off promo was enticing enough to reel me in for an hour wait on the weekend. The con: they ran out of matcha two hours into opening. I did get to try two of their drinks so this review will be based on that, however I will be back to try more. I'm eyeing you, Vietnamese coffee. The coco mocha is made with their house mocha sauce, but was completely underwhelming. There was so sweetness to it and it tasted very chalky/gritty. The brown sugar latte was nothing too memorable either. Having the herbal jelly in there was interesting; I thought it would more flavor, but it didn't do much for the drink. There also wasn't a bigger straw to slurp up the jelly so it becomes more of an end treat. The space is large and welcoming with warm tones and a good amount of seating.

Yelp
Đậm Coffee is excellent! I tried this Huế Salted Coffee and it was lovely, surprising, unique, and delicious! The baristsas were speedy, professional and kind. I ran into the owners Anh and Kay, and they gifted me a sticker! The vibes of the shop are chill and cozy, perfect spot to cowork/study or chat with buds. I will tell all my friends sto come to Đậm Coffee!

Yelp
Seems like this is a new favorite spot! Easy to find with plenty of parking and lots of fun menu options! It wasn't busy when I went - mind you it was mid morning on a Wednesday - and the latte was the perfect amount of sweetness and coffee flavor! Well done

Izzy P.

Yelp
Sizes are smaller than you'd expect but the drink are delicious! Tried their Vietnamese coffee options and it's become one of my go-to places now.

Emmalee T.

Yelp
Walked in to friendly staff and a good, relaxed vibe. I tried the Matchanana and the hype is worth it. It was SO GOOD, texture and taste 10/10. And if you're like me and love a salted coffee try the Huế salted coffee!! I can't wait to come back and try more menu options.

Yelp
This opened right next door to my apartment and let me just say this is DANGEROUS FOR MY WALLET. I've found it hard to find a good coffee shop but this one is soooooo good I don't know how I'm not gonna come every day. The coffee is so delicious and super strong and everything is not super sweet. I'm prediabetic so I was worried I wouldn't have any options but just their coffee with the salted foam is soooo good and sooo worth it and doesn't raise my blood sugar at all! It's a really good work spot too for when I don't wanna work from home (sorry staff is probably gonna see me here everyday). But the workers are so nice and accommodating I love this place!! It's super cute inside as well :)

Naomi C.

Yelp
This place is always busy, but worth the wait! Their banana matcha is well balanced- not too sweet!

Kacy M.

Yelp
when i went, service was a little slow but i assume it's because they were restocking matcha (came in, there was a sign that said no matcha but when i left the sign was gone). coffee is legit amazing! i got the saigon latte, totally recommend it. coffee is strong but the condensed milk makes it so creamy and sweet.
