Dậm Coffee Bar - Review - Highland - Austin - The Infatuation

"Dậm is a Vietnamese coffee shop that specializes in phin coffee and matcha. The menu is small, mostly featuring hot and iced Vietnamese coffees with condensed milk, plus a handful of signature lattes. There’s also a small selection of pastries, plus a Vietnamese restaurant next door when you inevitably get a craving for bánh mì. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Nicolai McCrary

Love how warm and welcoming the atmosphere of this new business is. Very cozy place to come in and study, though noise levels can get a bit high during peak service times. The coffee is a lot stronger than I’m used to, which was a surprise, but once I knew what to expect I thought it tasted great! The owners and people behind the counter have all been extremely friendly as well, and I’ve consistently felt very welcomed in the space. I’ll definitely be a repeat customer here! :)

Google
The variety of drinks is good, and the drink flavors are pretty solid. The staff is nice. This place used to be a different boba shop, and I didn’t notice any major improvements to the interior—hence my 3-star rating for atmosphere.

Google
Their soft opening week was very busy! It took about 45 minutes waiting in line to get drinks. We ordered Vietnamese coffee and a pistachio latte. Both were delicious! They did a good job redecorating the interior and making the seating area cozy. It's great to see a new coffee shop getting lots of business, but I'd strongly recommend going during their non busy hours if you're looking to just grab a coffee and go.

I had such a wonderful experience at this coffee shop! The staff here are incredibly polite and genuinely friendly. Even when they weren’t officially setup to open yet, they went out of their way to help our group make drinks, which I really appreciated. The coffee is excellent, rich and smooth, and their matcha is just as impressive, perfectly balanced and not too sweet. It’s rare to find a spot that combines great drinks with such thoughtful, welcoming service. Highly recommend!

Google
I recently visited Dâm Coffee Bar because I have been a little obsessed with oat milk matcha with a pump of vanilla, and I am on the hunt for the best one in Austin. This spot simply won me over. The place is beautiful, very calm, and comfortable to work from, and the matcha was absolutely divine. The service could be better, but overall I really enjoyed my visit. Definitely coming back!

Google
Recently visited this coffee shop and had mixed feelings about my experience. The coffee was thick and strong—almost a bit too strong for my taste (I drink Vietnamese coffee on the regular). I decided to return and try the matcha latte, which was good but not quite worth the price. At $7 for a small cup that was mostly filled with ice and not even to the top, I expected more. Overall, while the coffee has potential, the value for money could definitely be improved.

Google
Love their salted foam coffee, tasted exactly same as the one I tried in Hue ^^ As a matchaholic, I could tasted the strong, pretty good latte. The egg coffee is fine, I hope the egg foam could be more “egg”. Friendly staffs, quiet and clean atmosphere, definitely come back!

I decided to try the Vietnamese coffee here after seeing all the hype on social media, especially since I’m originally from the Bay Area where Vietnamese coffee spots are really popular. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. They only offer one size, and it turned out to be very small. On top of that, the cup was filled with ice, leaving only a modest amount of actual coffee. For the price, it just didn’t feel worth it in terms of value or portion. That being said, the coffee itself was extremely well crafted, smooth, flavorful, and clearly roasted with care. If they offered larger portions or adjusted the coffee-to-ice ratio, this could easily be a go-to spot.

Yelp
Finally found a legit matcha latte in Austin! I used to have a banana matcha in Houston and totally loved it--been craving it since then, and guess what, I found it here! The matcha flavor is actually strong (super important!! In the U.S., most matcha lattes are so weak... basically no matcha taste at all). The banana adds a creamy sweetness that goes perfectly with the matcha. And the crunchy matcha chips on top? Such a nice touch--delicious till the very last sip. The café itself is spacious with a relaxing vibes, with a covered parking lot right next to it, and the service was really friendly. Definitely coming back for this drink again!

Yelp
I went twice during their soft opening in the morning. I honestly didn't have to wait very long but both times I went at around 10:30 on a Sunday and brought work to do. The people here are very nice, it's genuinely a Vietnamese family owned business. I tried the saigon latte, coco mocha, matcha latte and the strawberry matcha. Saigon latte: 4/5, the flavors were solid but this thing is SOOO caffeinated in my opinion which isn't a bad thing but just a fair warning to everyone. I was wired wired from this drink Coco mocha: 1/5 would not recommend. It's just not my cup of tea.... I felt like the only flavor was coconut but that mixed with the coffee gave it a very bitter taste. Matcha latte: 3.5/5 not bad matcha but nothing crazy. Very basic Strawberry matcha: 4/5, need a straw for this because the strawberry purée is all at the bottom. The puree is actually really nice and fresh tasting!! Overall not a bad place to get some drinks and get some work done. It does get a bit loud so bring some headphones and the bathrooms are a little wonky (doors don't close properly and huge gaps but whatever).

Yelp
I heard a lot about this place and there was a lot of hype about it so I had to check it out. Initially I wanted to come a few weeks ago but they had run out of matcha at the time so I made an attempt a few weeks later. When I came there was not wait and my drink came out very quick. I got a strawberry matcha and it tasted alright. Though I will say I've had better strawberry matchas before. The size of the drink was also kind of smaller than I thought. I do also wish there were more drink options.

Yelp
How your eye? DAMNNNN! I love a chance to drop a Friday reference. And I'm not even sure if this place is pronounced Dam, but their drinks have me screaming that. I came for their soft opening while I was in Austin recently and their posts were flooding my socials. I came for the hype and stayed for the drinks. My favorite was the Matchanana. They were still in their soft opening phase so I gave their staff a pass. They are super nice and attentive. I can't wait to stop by again the next time I'm in Austin to try their other drinks

Yelp
I think this replaced a popular boba chain, and I'll start off with the positives. The interior is gorgeous, and I love what they did with the space. It gives the feel of a LA coffee or boba shop. The menu is really good, and I had a hard time deciding whether or not I wanted matcha or coffee. They also make the matcha drinks by hand (I saw them hand mixing in matcha bowls), so you can trust that you're not getting a premade matcha drink. The negatives. It took forever for them to make my drink... and they didn't even make my second drink before I left. The service was awful and like someone else said, they really need to work on their timing. When I ordered my two drinks, there were nearly 6 other parties waiting for their drinks and I could tell they'd made themselves comfortable and had been waiting for quite a while. Because I was in a rush, I asked where my drinks were and they skipped the line to make ONE of my two drinks before they returned back to making other drinks. Another reviewer said it perfectly - "they don't have an order of how to make the drinks; they skip people over due to the pressure of people asking where their drinks are, and it just confuses the drink order process". I totally get that they're in their soft opening era, but the drinks themselves aren't worth the long wait either. I only got one of the drinks I ordered before I had to leave, and it was the Vietnamese latte. There was barely any flavor, and the condensed milk didn't make the drink any sweeter.

Yelp
It is an open coffee shop near ACC. I got the Saigon latte and it has no taste of coffee; it is a very watered-down espresso shot. Service needs to be better. From the time I got my receipt to getting my drink was about 30 minutes. While I waited, there were one or two people who just gave up and left. They don't have an order of how to make the drinks; they skip people over due to the pressure of people asking where their drinks are, and it just confuses the drink order process. They also should move to a number system to speed things up instead of manually writing down people's names, as I can see they were having issues saying certain names or even spelling them, and now they have extra drinks waiting for people. They offered to give me someone else's drink because it was taking a while, but I said that wasn't my name (they did this twice). The inside is spacious, but your voice will carry here and there, and there is no sound damping here. Another reason to move to a number system since no one is going to hear their name. Hopefully, they learn during their month-long soft opening soon, as they are right next to ACC, and school is starting soon. There will be a bigger rush.

Yelp
Stopped by for an iced matcha latte with oat milk one afternoon. It was tasty and I thought the matcha was pretty good. It was fairly busy but service was quick. There's a fair amount of indoor seating if you're looking for a place to work or study, though it's all one big open room. Overall I'd recommend it if you're in the area!

Yelp
Came here for their soft opening and was really excited to try their matcha. Unfortunately they had run out the day before which was a bummer. However they had plenty of other really interesting drink options. Our group got the pistachio latte, Vietnamese coffee, and fresh tango. All the drinks were really good and my favorite was the pistachio latte. The Vietnamese coffee was too strong for the people in our group and we went to ask for more milk and they upgraded our cups which was super nice of them! I wish they had more seating but will definitely be back to try other drinks.

Yelp
There is another great Vietnamese coffee shop in town. The staff is friendly, and the service is quick and easy to order. The space is big with lots of tables and chairs. The salted coffee is highly recommended.

Yelp
Đậm Coffee is excellent! I tried this Huế Salted Coffee and it was lovely, surprising, unique, and delicious! The baristsas were speedy, professional and kind. I ran into the owners Anh and Kay, and they gifted me a sticker! The vibes of the shop are chill and cozy, perfect spot to cowork/study or chat with buds. I will tell all my friends sto come to Đậm Coffee!

Yelp
I came for their soft opening as the 20% off promo was enticing enough to reel me in for an hour wait on the weekend. The con: they ran out of matcha two hours into opening. I did get to try two of their drinks so this review will be based on that, however I will be back to try more. I'm eyeing you, Vietnamese coffee. The coco mocha is made with their house mocha sauce, but was completely underwhelming. There was so sweetness to it and it tasted very chalky/gritty. The brown sugar latte was nothing too memorable either. Having the herbal jelly in there was interesting; I thought it would more flavor, but it didn't do much for the drink. There also wasn't a bigger straw to slurp up the jelly so it becomes more of an end treat. The space is large and welcoming with warm tones and a good amount of seating.

Yelp
This place is always busy, but worth the wait! Their banana matcha is well balanced- not too sweet!

Yelp
Seems like this is a new favorite spot! Easy to find with plenty of parking and lots of menu options! It wasn't busy when I went - mind you it was mid morning on a Wednesday - and the latte was the perfect amount of sweetness and coffee flavor! Well done

Yelp
Walked in to friendly staff and a good, relaxed vibe. I tried the Matchanana and the hype is worth it. It was SO GOOD, texture and taste 10/10. And if you're like me and love a salted coffee try the Huế salted coffee!! I can't wait to come back and try more menu options.

Yelp
This opened right next door to my apartment and let me just say this is DANGEROUS FOR MY WALLET. I've found it hard to find a good coffee shop but this one is soooooo good I don't know how I'm not gonna come every day. The coffee is so delicious and super strong and everything is not super sweet. I'm prediabetic so I was worried I wouldn't have any options but just their coffee with the salted foam is soooo good and sooo worth it and doesn't raise my blood sugar at all! It's a really good work spot too for when I don't wanna work from home (sorry staff is probably gonna see me here everyday). But the workers are so nice and accommodating I love this place!! It's super cute inside as well :)

Yelp
when i went, service was a little slow but i assume it's because they were restocking matcha (came in, there was a sign that said no matcha but when i left the sign was gone). coffee is legit amazing! i got the saigon latte, totally recommend it. coffee is strong but the condensed milk makes it so creamy and sweet.
