Best Restaurants in Concord and Pleasant Hill - Eater SF

"This unassuming restaurant, tucked away in a Concord mini-mall, has been a local fave for its hearty central European menu and large selection of German and Czech beer. This is your spot for Hungarian goulash, wiener schnitzel, and sauerbraten — all available to go, or to be enjoyed in the restaurant’s recently added canopy-covered outdoor dining area." - Rebecca Shea

Google
A hidden gem! There are relaxing, cozy atmosphere, great food and service. The apple strudel we ate there was the best in our life.

Google
This is a quite small local restaurant in the vein of a European local neighborhood diner. This place produces the very best Wienerschnitzel West of Munich. The service is friendly and smooth. If you like Hungarian and German dishes, this is a great place. To cap it off, pricing is excellent. ENJOY.

Google
Cute small place with some solid food. My wife loved the tripe soup. The potato salad is amazing and the schnitzel is huge. You can get a lunch portion at dinner.

Google
Very surprised find of authentic German food in Walnut Creek, chef use fresh ingredients and prepare very tasty and health dishes, clean nice European style decorations, fresh German 🍺 on taps, food portions are Germany standard - plenty with very reasonable price. We will be back for more.

Had the Svíčková and it was amazing. Spaetzle and Hungarian goulash were fantastic as well. Can’t wait to go back..

Google
The restaurant run by Czech immigrant serves authentic Czech, German, Austria comfort foods like Schnitzel, tripe soup, pork roast etc,. I know the most well known Schnitzel is made with Veal which is called Wiener Schnitzel. Also, tripe soup is very soothing, comforting. This reminds me of when i enjoyed eating Korean version of hangover soup like 해장국, 소머리국밥, etc,. Anyway, This was incredibly delicious!

Google
Authentic Euro food a long with a mainly Euro crowd. Never fails on quanity and quality of food. Before the pandemic it was a great date night place or just to grab a beer joint. But now more than ever we must support local business. Otherwise they won't be there when we need them. Jerry the owner is a good guy and he needs people to get the munchies and order take out food. Please do it and I promise you will not be disappointed

Nice local place offering some genuine German food. Small but cozy dining area with a small bar. Friendly service and quick to.get the orders out.

Yelp
Decided to come back here again with my friends. We heard they are closing for business, so we had to stop by one last time. I know I should have gotten something else from the menu, but the entree I had last time (Czech 'Svitchkova') was too good to pass up. The soup for the day was chicken noodle, so I went for that this time. Czech 'Svitchkova': This was exactly as I remembered it. I noticed from last time I got three pieces instead of two. The sauce is what made this dish for me. The meat was tough like I remembered it. The spetzel was deliciously cooked and the special berry compote was tart. Overall, I enjoyed this dish. My soup was a bit on the cold side though, so it was not as appealing to me. Still, happy to come back here again and enjoy my German fixings. Wishing the best for all the workers here.

Yelp
The dinner menu comes with soup or salad. I had the chicken soup which I enjoy . The broth is delicious, with lots of veggie/ chicken/ noodles. I had the breaded pork/ picked cabbage/ dumplings with mushroom gravy. I found the breaded pork dash dry but they are enormous. The mushroom gravy was very good , order more gravy. This dish came with 2 large breaded pork. Dessert was apple strudel. Very yummy not too sweet. The plates are great portion size for the price is not expensive. Service was good. Ambiance is a nice European feeling. It took me back to old Europe. If you want to try something different, try this place. It a fun and delicious experience.

Yelp
This is an authentic German restaurant that hubby has been coming to for many years. He was brought here by German friends who consider the food as very authentic. We had the Jagerschnitzel and the Bratwurst dinners. The portions were huge and we had enough leftover for lunch the next day. They give you two very large pieces of Jagerschnitzel, which is breaded pork with mushroom gravy. The sides are what you would expect in a German restaurant - spaetzel, purple cabbage and a potato dish, often potato salad. The service was excellent and parking is ample in their own lot.

Yelp
Incredibly flavorful food. The soup was amazing. The schnitzel and spaetzle with mushroom gravy was perfect. Friendly, attentive service. Nice atmosphere. Great food!!

Yelp
Amazing place. Small, attentive service. Delicious food and beer. It's a definite do again on date night.

Yelp
The food was really bad!!! Please don't order goulash $19 5pcs beef lol If you're packing to go, at least put the bread in a bag or paper bag!

Yelp
My third time at this establishment, and I must say it never disappoints. This time, I had bratwurst--two delicious sausages, potato salad, mustard, and pickled cabbage (European Kimchi, aka Sauerkraut). It also comes with a side of soup, all for $26. Sounds like a good deal to me for a dinner arrangement. My server, Jana, was super nice, attentive, and efficient. The ambiance reminds you of Prague and Budapest restaurants. Overall, I give it 5 stars, and I will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Added another picture of this monstrosity. I really liked this place in the past. The waitress says the owner likes to cook large portions. No kidding.

Wanyee F.

Yelp
It is the only real authentic place that serves German, Czech, European style dishes. We have been going there for many years. We love every dish on the menu, especially the pork knuckle and the duck dishes on weekends. I love the tripe soup. It is an authentic Czech dish. It is not listed on the menu, but you can ask for it.

Yelp
I used to love this place... what happened? I last came here before the new owners took over. Having been back now I can confidently say that the change is for the worse. The time to serve the table - bring waters and take orders - was almost 45 minutes. They had one server for the entire restaurant, which I guess was not enough. Basic things, like bringing water to the table, just didn't happen. Eventually, some drinks came out, and others just didn't. Did they forget? I have never been in a situation where half of the table had drinks and silverware, and half didn't. I ordered a father's day beer and meal combo, and didn't get the beer until the very end of the service, when others had had their drinks for half an hour. Food came out from the kitchen in a trickle, or not at all. I eventually just canceled my order, because everybody else was nearly done, and no one had come by to update me. The waitress then informed me that the chef was cooking it... ok? Everybody at my table is done eating. The new owners clearly have an issue with staging their food production. Finally, the menu has gotten dramatically more expensive, and the food that I tried from someone else's plate was barely edible. The meat was so dry I could barely cut it. I get that everything is pricier, but the food quality should at least stay the same. There are plenty of quality eastern European restaurants in the Bay Area. My recommendation is to find another.

Yelp
The hostess/server was very attentive and greeted us as soon as our party of four stepped in for lunch. We were seated, menus presented, and drink orders taken. I had the Sauerbraten with Spaetzle - 2 - I'm sorry to say that neither really appealed to me. I found the beef to be bland, dry and tough even though it was served with plenty of gravy. The Spaetzle was also bland and dry. Being that there were little browns spots on some of the Spaetzle leads me to believe that it had been reheated. That would have been a great opportunity to brown some butter first to add a nutty flavor. She had the Vegetable Soup of the Day - 5 - which was thick and quite tasty. And the Jaeger Schnitzel - 4 - which I wish I had ordered as well. It was quite tasty, crispy and delicious. It came with a small amount of Mushroom Gravy under the Breaded Pork. One of our friends also ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel and the other ordered the Hungarian Goulash. They will write their own reviews. For dessert, we got two Apple Strudels - 2 - The pastry was not crispy nor flakey and the filling was mushy.

Yelp
The service was quick & our server was friendly. The inside was super classy, as if i was back in europe again :) i have been looking for a place that served german food that isnt too bad for the price. food was delicious as well, will come back soon!

Yelp
Still love this place! I have eaten at DJ's Bistro a handful of times and have always been impressed by their food and hospitality. After a range outing nearby on 03/05/2022, my Yelp buddy Richard K. and his wife Judy treated me to lunch here. It wasn't too busy when we arrived at around 11:30 am. The lady boss emerged from the kitchen to greet us. We were then seated at a table near the bar. Their lunch menu still offers many German classic dishes but the prices have definitely gone up since the last time I was here. Judy and I each got a Jaegar Schnitzel plate while Richard opted for their Roasted Pork Loin Special. We asked the lady boss if we could get potato salad instead of spaetzle. She said she would bring us a small plate each as an extra side. The Jaegar Schnitzel plate came with two huge pieces of breaded pork loin in mushroom sauce served with red cabbage and spaetzle. The schnitzel was delicious. The breading was had a nice crunch and meat was very juicy. The potato salad was great as well. It was not overly dressed or seasoned. It's exactly how I like it. Richard gave me a piece of the roasted pork loin and it was tasty as well. It was well seasoned and moist and the edges had a nice crispiness to it. The lady boss provided excellent service. She checked on us several times during our meal to make sure we had everything we needed. This place is a true gem! So very glad that they are still around. If you want some good German food in the Central County area, this is definitely the place to visit. 5 stars still.

Yelp
After having sone awesome German food in Sacramento about a month ago, I was really look g for something like it closer to home. I had DJ's Bistro bookmarked for sometime and today was the day to try. It's a cute little place in a complex of many businesses but it's not too hard to find. I was greeted by a very friendly server who seated me quickly. Since I was having bratwurst, I decided to order a Czech beer to go with it. It was a great beer, not hoppy which is how I like it. As I looked at the menu, I noticed soooo many great choices and it all seemed very authentic. I chose the bratwurst that came with housemade sauerkraut, housemade potato salad and the MOST delicious purple cabbage that tasted like Christmas. The entree came with soup or salad which is a nice change since most business have done away with this. I had a very tasty cauliflower soup that was not creamy but more brothy with lots of veggies. My entree arrived and it looked incredible. As I took a bite of each item, I was in love. The BEST part was the red cabbage. I was not sure what to expect from red cabbage but this really changed my mind. I will be back!

Yelp
A friend recommended this place. What a disappointment. I walked in and the place was empty, that should have been my first warning sign. I ordered the meatloaf. In less than 5 min my food was brought out. It was canned spam. First time I've ever seen meatloaf that was grayish/pink in color. Terrible food and overpriced.

Yelp
I really needed it. DJ's Bistro delivered. No, not Doordash'ed. I went, and was transported to the homeland. German, mostly. I found a number of my favs, and some not at all. Oh well. Because of my great need, I ordered 3 items and planned to take home in boxes. Sue me! Service: ======= Greeted by Monika, super nice, warm, talkative, and German...it rounded out the experience. She helped guide me, and see that I reduced my costs by eliminating duplicative salad and soups. Thanks Monika! What I had: ========== * Spaten ~ a 16 oz draft for $5? Oh yeah! PS. I really enjoyed it. * Hungarian Goulash ~ 5 large chunks of gorgeous tender beef in a dark paprika sauce. Served with some of the best spaetzle I ever had, topped with bacon, fried onion, and parsley. OMG, yes! [5.0 stars] * Wiener Schnitzel ~ breaded pork loin served with potato salad. It was a double portion that would be more impressive if one massive piece (as found in Austria or Germany), but it was cooked to perfection with no gristle anywhere to be found. The next day, I warmed it in the oven and it was still delicious. [4.5 stars] * Bohemian Sauerbraten ~ 2 medium slices of marinated beef roast in a cream sauce served with more spaetzle. It was good, but to be honest, I've had better many times at many places. Frankly, it was boring. [3.0 stars] What I would improve? =================== Offer fresh desserts, a little more festive decor (like behind the bar), and have a section of sides on the menu. I would add Roladen, Kartoffelpuffer and french fries (as a side option), currywurst and other options (they do have bratwurst).

Yelp
From the times I had this place referred by Yelp it turned out to be a slight disappointment food and service wise. Came here on Friday night and got a nice table in the corner. Dining hal is small and has only about 11 tables + bar and outside table. Single person servicing the whole place is definitely it enough. We had to wait and experienced "hold on a sec" looking at someone's back few times till other tables left. Recommended Hungarian Goulash was very tender, however so over salted that had to leave it at the plate. German Bratwurst with potato salad on the other hand was mild sausage, nothing to stand out from with regular potato salad (why European?). Check Pilsner on tab was on the bitter side. Overall place got marked that "Been there", however one time deal.

Yelp
Old school comfy small German cafe that makes huge portions of meat just like coming home to your German grandma would offer if I had a German grandma. Food is tasty and so are the side dishes. I love gravy and fattier meats like the roasted half duck I got and would have that again except I want to try their pig knuckle next. They ran out of strudel but hope to try that as well.

Shayne L.

Yelp
Loved this place! Food was so good! Especially the strudel. Small and intimate bistro with authentic European food and beer. Hidden gem
google avatar

Elizabeth Z.

Yelp
Pretty good food although a bit expensive and portions have gotten significantly smaller throughout the years.

C J.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant with indoor seating and a bar area. Service was good, speed/delivery of food was also good. Sauerbraten was a little tough but schnitzel was paper thin and really delicious.
google avatar

Jacob B.

Yelp
First time eating here. I thought the food and beer was good. The mushroom gravy was a bit bland and thin, but the spaetzle, bratwurst, and jagerschnitzle made up for it. If you are looking for a simple, laid back restaurant with solid German food and German beer at a good price, then I recommend trying this restaurant out.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
Looks like new owners / manager. No more blatantly authentic European attitude, but servitude instead. The waiter was super nice and attentive. The food is still generous portions on the meat side, but not the same quality it used to be. The fresh bread was excellent. The jaeger schnitzel was really a Wiener schnitzel resting on some small amount of mushroom sauce, lemon's on the side as you would expect for a Wiener schnitzel. Bland sauce, no deep flavors, Red cabbage and Spätzle portion also rather small compared to rest of plate. No longer my go-to place for German food. Prices seem higher than before, flavors down... Too bad the original owner sold out.

Yelp
Delicious German and European food. I feel like it's rare to find this kind of food, and I was so happy to try this. Sfeater had a list of 17 places to eat in concord and pleasant hill. We saw it and tried it. The night we went was Mona's birthday. There were people inside singing Happy Birthday to her. It was so wonderful to see a community of people celebrate her! She was so very kind and sweet. I can see how she is so beloved! The service was really homey and great. We chose to sit outside under the tent. The food came out really quickly because they were closing the kitchen early. Everything tasted really fresh. The schnitzel was huge! There were two per order. The portions are really big! We took home leftovers and they reheated really well, so order to your hearts content! The menu is rather small, which tell us that they really make everything well. Mona recommended the sauerbraten for the sauce, and it's truly delicious!

Yelp
The dude and I came to DJ's Bistro on 4/02/21 after Oakland/San Francisco Yelpers recommended we try this authentic German restaurant. The dude and I never had authentic German food so we didn't know what to expect. With COVID they had an outdoors patio and also due to the tier changes they were allowed to do indoor dining. We wanted to go as we had plans with the dudes family right after. Upon entering there was a large party as it appeared as time went on was the owner's relatives son and his friends of some sort outside enjoying their food and German Beers outside. We were greeted immediately by the female owner who was pleasant and sweet but straight to t be point. She helped us on yelp pick out the food we may like. My German is horrible so I'll just say it in English! I ended up going with the 2 fried pork chops with the gravy on the side, it came with red cabbage and Spagzale. The dude ended up getting the authentic German Bratwurst which came with two with the choice of soup or salad. Since I went with salad the dude got the soup. Our order was suppose to come with bread and butter but that didn't come :( so not sure if was only for dine in only and to go orders which that wasn't mentioned at all all. Definitely wanted the bread and butter xD Anyways, they were getting a lot of orders to go and it appears they need more customers as I heard her say to an man with a large to go order that business is going rough- some days are good and some days not so good. I will have to say the dude and I definitely enjoyed our food the fried pork was juicy and crispy and the mushroom sauce was so delicious when I dipped it in. The pork by itself was seasoned slightly but addictive. I really liked it. The Spagzale was delicious and very flavorful never had something like that. I really loved the Red Cabbage which was full of flavor which paired well with the Spagzale. The dude loved his authentic Bratwurst. I tried it and it was so juicy and flavorful. His meal came with different sides. The dude would love to come back and try the German Beers. And I would so love to dine in although they had Fox News on which the dude and I thought that was hilarious (insider between us). I would definitely encourage you to give German Cuisine a try! We would love to come back and it was our first time trying German Food. I am so happy my fellow yelpers recommended this fabulous place to the dude and I and it wasn't too far from the dudes grandparents residence too!

Yelp
My first time Ewing German food. I highly suggest this location . Amazing beer and Comfort food

Yelp
Small unassuming place in a small mall. But darn good Eastern European food. Went on a Sunday night with wifey. The bar was totally full but there was plenty of tables as we went there around 5 pm. We were promptly greeted and seated. We both got the stiegl on tap. Yeah that was nice. I ordered the goulash and wifey got the Wiener schnitzel. Both were very good. Hint- use the bread to mop up the Golasch. Yum. We both had the soup - that night it was spinach soup that was just darn good DJ's is a great place for hearty Eastern European food. Good job folks.

Gail P.

Yelp
Please, this restaurant was so unique, but the owner is not present. Service is horrible, I hope the owner will come back and be present. Food was okay but the service was way below average. I hope next time we come back things will change. I loved this place before it changed ownership.

Yelp
I came here for dinner and enjoyed my snitzel . I had double snitzel and they were huge and I even took one home. The red cabbage was acidic and I couldn't taste any other flavor. My little dumplings (spaetzle) were a little soggy but my partner's were nice and crunchy. The bread was very soft and fresh. I didn't care for the mushroom sauce in my dish, it had little flavor and was very thin. My dining partner enjoyed his ghanosh very much and said it reminded him of his mother's cooking. I also got an order of Sauerbraten to go and it looked really good. Our waitress who might be the owner's wife was really sweet and gave us amazing service. We will return when we are in the mood for German food.

Monica B.

Yelp
What happened to this place for years? This was my go to we stopped in full of excitement quality German meal is what I was savoring what we got slop Jager schnitzel was awful for gravy and they gave me brown water with mushrooms, floating in it. I'm not making this up. The salad was wilted coated with some package version of a German dressing. My wife had to dried up what was supposed to be bratwurst floating in this brown water slop they were calling gravy. I felt so bad for the waitress She informed us that it was new owners, and at least we were trying tosurvive the weal for a dessert and they ran out of all desserts that not only upsets the customer, but the possibility of two desserts and two coffees is sliced as a nicelittle edition for a more of a tip . It's sad to say that everything we had was awful. Even the sauerkraut had a rough taste to it Lenwood apples and cinnamon dry with $75 price tag. We will never come back to this place. you will be very disappointed, if you ever ate at this place years ago for it to be. It Was a shame. All they had to do is keep doing what the previous owners had built an amazing restaurant on . I'm writing this long review because I'm extra disappointed that I drove out of the way to come support a small local business it was .We were offered the worst German meal I've ever ever had from a place years ago that I had my best
google avatar

Erika H.

Yelp
I had a hankering for German food. The Wiener schnitzel was good. The spaetzle is a little different than I'm used to, but still yummy. It is a cozy location.

Theresa R.

Yelp
Somebody perfected the chicken sandwich! It was steaming hot. Fries were perfect and even had avocado on the salad. Nice bonus. I don't live in this area but I will be back when I am here.
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
I first here years ago when they were featured on check please Bay Area the TV show and then they were excellent. My family is German we eat most of the items on this menu many times a year. I had a ton of friends with me this time. We were the only table in the restaurant seven of us and the server seemed like he couldn't wait to get home yet somehow managed to have slow service. I ordered the sauerbraten and I know it said Czechoslovakian sauerbraten not German sauerbraten but I mean you served it was served with whipped cream and I think canned cherries (like the red ones? It was Reminiscent of little square of dessert like stuff they give you with turkey TV dinner) I mean we usually use some kind of cranberry type side and some sour cream perhaps to cut the richness of the meat and gravy but this had me completely confused. There was nothing tender about the meat at all. This dish is when you take a cheap piece of meat and you cook it slow and low for days so it's so fork tender. This was not and it was lacking sour. Also, my friends schnitzel and chicken were poorly executed But I can see why people who haven't had other actual German food might enjoy it. It was nothing like it was when I went the first time with the original owners. Someone needs to get their Oma in there and reteach them. I will say that the Apple strudel was pretty comparable to home. The ambiance was pleasant as I remembered. I really don't like giving low stars so I give it a two I probably would've done a three if the service was better but because he seemed so bored to be there I had to keep it at two. Sorry, I hope this was a one off night.

Yelp
I ordered from here a couple of times before and it was really good. So I decided to try something different this time. So I ordered the Hungarian Goulash and only had 4 pieces of meat and the rest is just the sauce. The meat was dry and the sauce tasted burned, I literally could taste the burned taste. The potato salad was bland and lacked eggs and mayonnaise. It felt like this time it was a totally different chef from the last couple of weeks. Really disappointed. Spending $26 to still feel hungry is beyond disappointment.
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
We went here late on a Saturday night. Wasn't crowded. Service was very good. We all had Bavarian chicken which was very tasty. Generous portions. I'll come back again!
google avatar

Diane A.

Yelp
Meh server was very nice but the food really didn't hit the mark. I ordered the Pork Roast and the majority of it was all fat. The entrees we had were $29 and $28 (Goulash) which I found a bit pricey. Googled it, tried it and considered it a one time only visit.

Mark G.

Yelp
Mark G 3/12/24 Me and my family have been going to the place for over 20 years and never had the service, or food that was as bad as last nights, when Jerry was the owner. We been back to the place about 10 times since the new owners have taken over and the service and food has never been the same as Jerry. i must say after last night it will be a long time before We go back. I would not recommend this place to any one

Yelp
I really like this restaurant (by telling my friends I had the best salad of the year here the 1st time I came) and really hope it holds to the greatness. As such, here is the 2nd review. Visited the 2nd time yesterday, a Sunday afternoon. My waiter was extremely nice and offered us extra bread. It's when the food came that I noticed it must be a different chef because my beloved lemon chicken salad was cooked differently. Last time we had the chicken grilled without any sauce but this time it comes with some light sauce on it. I like the without sauce version. I also noticed 1) there was some eggshells in the salad (there's no egg in this salad) 2) way less meat compares to the last time; 3) extremely large amount of sauce and it's extremely salty; 4) inside of the meat was cold... IMO, consistent quality is very important, especially you have 2 diff chefs (or maybe 3 diff. versions with the owners cook too). After all, it really gives people this little restaurant in Czech vibe, which I really like. Hope it will improve.

Yelp
Schnitzel (bith jaeger and weiner) were excellent. Large hefeweizen beer for $7. Great service. Will be back for sure.

Yelp
Wunderbar! The ambiance is nice. The food was Excellent! We had Weinerschnitzel with potato salad. Highly recommend. The service was great!

Yelp
Great food and great service. Found DJ's almost by accident. Had been looking for an authentic German restaurant. I had the jagerschnitzle. Great beer on tap too!
google avatar

Kay Z.

Yelp
New ownership. Poor experience, and pricey (Dinner entrees now $24.50). Service not particularly friendly. Beer served in a cracked glass with a 3 inch head, explaining the absence of any carbonation. Instead of giving us a new bottle of beer in a fresh glass, we were offered the remainder poured into a new glass. The table was cleared before all of us had finished eating - not exactly the service you'd expect in a restaurant claiming European tradition. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g32243-d3528364-r865452011-DJ_s_Bistro-Concord_California.html#

Yelp
I come here frequently and, originating from Germany, I can honestly say that this is the most authentic German food I've ever had the pleasure to find! Everything on the menu is delicious! You can't go wrong! Awesome atmosphere! I highly recommend this restaurant! Connie Espinosa

Yelp
This hidden gem has authentic European food. Every time I come here I order the meatloaf and it does not disappoint at all. I love this place so much. The service is amazing as well! Love this spot!

Yelp
Although this happened on July 16,2022, I feeI that it's necessary to warn everyone about this place and to share my experience: I went to Dj's Bistro with my family. I have to say I am terribly disappointed in the service. We first learned about the place through an ad claiming that they had a 'Happy Hour', which started at 2:00 p.m. We arrived at the place around 2:30 and inquired about the happy hour. The waitress was confused about it. I continued to show her the website on my phone about her own restaurant's happy hour. She took my phone to the bar to show her husband then she came back to me and told me that the update version of the website with the happy hour was put up too early and starts on the following Tuesday (7/19/22), we were there on Friday, July 16,2022. When the waitress came back to take our order, I asked her about a picture of a dish that they sold , the knee of a pig, which then she informed me that they only sell it on Saturdays and Sundays. My two family members' ordered, as they already knew what they wanted, where I told the waitress that I had to look over the menu again to order something else. Then the waitress went back to the kitchen for their orders and went back out to the bar to complain to her husband. The waitress started crying and pointing over to our table , saying 'Oh they hate me! ...... " Her husband came over to us and said to me " my wife told me that you are mean to her. You said you hate her......"I told the husband I never said I hated her and all we wanted were answers to our questions about their foods and drinks. Then the husband asked if we had ordered yet, since I hadn't ordered yet, I told him that I would try the goulash. The husband went back to the bar, but the wife was still complaining about something and crying. All this just comes to show that the wife is hypersensitive or just likes attention so she seems like the victim. 10 minutes later my family members got their dishes, unlike me, fine since I had ordered after them, not a big deal. Another 20 minutes went by and the waitress came by with the check. I had never received my order.I was shocked, can this restaurant treat a client like this? It shows the restaurant business and how things here are not that organized. I would give this restaurant 0 stars if yelp would let me .

Yelp
Still one of my favorite spots because of the nostalgia it provides for me. Simple menu, but eastern Euro food done right. Brings back great memories of growing up as a little kid in Frankfurt, (West) Germany in the late 1970s-early 1980s the. Moving to San Francisco and find little hole in the wall German spots who gave my folks a chance to practice their German with pinoy accents.

Yelp
Great service, drinks, food! Loved the fried green beans and Brussel sprouts. The chicken and short rib scrumptious. I preferred the short rib over the chicken. The sauce that came with the Chicken didn't do it any favors. It was better without. I wished the chicken and cornbread was served with some honey! Maybe next time I'll bring my own spicy honey. For dessert the butterscotch pear and S'more chocolate ganache cake. Both yummy and left our table divided on which was the best. The only complaint about the s'more desert was the density of the ganache. Maybe because it was on the colder side but we had a rather rough time cutting to serve. Eating it was not an issue and I enjoyed the texture too. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Love the patio and the heaters too!

Yelp
What another 'golden gem' of a restaurant that I've just discovered here in Concord. DJ Bistro is it,... they serve very delicious food that is clearly of the freshest quality. Also they serve very ample quantities of this very tasty yummy food. Honestly, be forewarned,... they do serve some very large portions at more than reasonable prices. Lovely Monika (our server) is soooooooo very delightful, she's so very personable, and is so pleasantly attentive, she ('Monika') is almost worth the visit to DJ Bistro all by herself. What a Sweetheart. We had the Jaeger Schnitzel, Mash Potatoes, Red Cabbage (and I also snuck in some of the incredible DJ Bistro Potato Salad), and all of it was so beyond delicious. City of Concord News Flash: If you've been looking for another amazing local dining experience to add to your current dining out rotation, look no further than DJ Bistro. It's so truly worth a look.
