DJ’s Clam Shack expands from Key West to the Las Vegas Strip | Eater Vegas

"Hoping its East Coast reputation will be enough to keep it afloat, DJ’s Clam Shack from Key West, Florida—bolstered by an appearance on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives—has signage up and a vintage hot rod displayed out front as it prepares to open soon next to Fatburger across Las Vegas Boulevard from the Park MGM. First launched in 2009, the Las Vegas expansion is expected to be open daily for lunch and dinner and will feature seafood-focused items including a $7 New England clam chowder, an $18 Maine lobster roll, a $29 basket of Ipswich fried clams with fries, a $14 plate of garlic steamed middleneck clams, tacos, fish fingers, and a Key West favorite, the $11 conch fitters served with fries or coleslaw." - Bradley Martin

The clam chowder and lobster roll were both incredible. Those are two of mine and my husband’s favorite foods and we both thought those were some of the best executions of those dishes that we have had. Both were loaded with seafood and seasoned perfectly. We also got the garlic steamed clams which were very tasty as well. The staff were also super friendly.

Google
As first-time visitors to Key West, we discovered this place while walking around and ordered their signature lobster roll. It was really fresh and definitely worth a visit. We also tried the coconut shrimp that day—the shrimp were huge and perfectly crispy, with a rich coconut flavor.

Google
Loved the lobster roll at DJ’s Clam Shack. We tried lobster rolls from both DJ’s and Lobster Shack, just to see which one was better. Honestly, it’s hard to choose. I loved the lobster (feel like more creamy)at DJ’s, but I loved the bread(more crunch ) at Lobster Shack. Both were amazing in their own way — you really can’t say which one is better. If you’re in Key West, you have to try both!

Joe J.

Google
We had to try the lobster roll and it did not disappoint. The conch fritter basket was also very good. Really cool atmosphere.

Google
Had the Cuban-style lobster rolls at DJ’s Clam Shack in Key West and they were outstanding. The lobster was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The Cuban twist really set it apart from the usual lobster roll—simple, bold, and done right. Easily one of the best seafood bites I had in Key West. Highly recommend if you’re a lobster lover.

Google
We ordered the Overload lobster roll, and it’s hands down the best lobster roll in Key West. We’ve tried others on the island—nothing compares. The lobster is from Maine and never frozen, and you can taste the difference. Sweet, tender, and generously packed into every bite. Simple, classic, and done right. We also had the pleasure of meeting John, the manager, who was welcoming and clearly passionate about the quality they deliver. Great food, great people, and a place that truly lives up to the hype. If you’re looking for an authentic lobster roll in Key West, this is a must-stop.

Jessie G.

Google
Best lobster roll I’ve ever had. I equally love the hot and the cold one. They are served cold, so if you want a warm one with butter, you just have to ask. I am a local here and I try to go here often. It’s totally worth the money. The portions are wonderful and their coleslaw is some of the best I’ve ever had. It has a sweet and tangy flavor. I will be a forever customer here. Love it here!!!!

Yong C.

Google
The staff here is super friendly and the service is excellent—definitely makes you feel welcome. The lobster roll was tasty, but I felt like it could’ve used a bit more meat compared to other spots I’ve tried. The clam chowder was solid and comforting. Overall, it’s a good experience, but for me it didn’t quite stand out among the many great seafood options in Key West.

Yelp
Heard about this online. When I went in the morning it was not yet open but come the evening the place was vibing. Lobster roll had to happen. Pricy but with it. Nice buttery roll. Great lobster. Also had the conch but the kids ate it before I could even take a Pic. The conch was also well cooked not rubber and succulent with a creator batter.
google avatar

Yelp
Grabbed a to go of clam Chowder x 2. Has plenty of clams and some potato. Good flavor. Could have been a little hotter and the chowder was a little thick. Had better but had many that were not as good

Yelp
We had one day in Key West on our way to The Bahamas and we decided to try out DJ's Clam Shack because we wanted to try some conch fritters and this place was featured on the Food Network. We got a few items and it didn't take long for the food to come out. The seating is outdoor only and it's pretty limited, but we were able to find seating and enjoy our food. One of the locals said that she's tried other conch fritters and she confirmed that these were the best on the island. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Wow! Absolutely amazing lobster roll - perfect for a later evening 'snack' to share! Fresh and buttery perfect!
google avatar

Yelp
I love DJ's. Ok yeah the lobster rolls are super expensive, but so is any good lobster roll, anywhere. If you don't want to splurge on the lobster roll (get the overstuffed, worth it), get the tacos. It's half the price, huge, and delicious. I'm obsessed with the roast pork tacos. So tender and delicious. The creamy clam chowder is also amazing!! One time I visited with family and ordered several lobster rolls, they even gave us a complimentary clam chowder! Order at the counter, sit at the picnic tables in the back, and enjoy. The staff are great, and I love the local specials each year. I'll always come back to DJ's!
google avatar

Sebastian H.

Yelp
Came here twice and the second time was even better than the first. The manager, whose name I didn't get but wish I did, was outstanding. He put the experience over the top just by being generous and hospitable. Lobster roll and fish tacos were both great. Go ENJOY!!!
google avatar

Yelp
If you were looking for the best lobster roll in Key West look no further DJs is the place hands-down... we searched several places in Key West and they were all decent but DJs by four was the best fresh grilled rolls lobster two ways either cold or hot with butter.. you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Loved loved loved DJ's Clam Shack! The first time I went, I had the shrimp basket with fries, so good & fresh that we made a second trip back. This time, I tried the coconut shrimp with fries, and I'm so glad I did. It was definitely my favorite of the two. The service was top-notch on both visits. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The person taking our order was super welcoming and talkative, and the servers even brought us water on a hot day without us asking. They also brought out condiments right to our table, which was a nice touch. Overall, such a great experience both times. Easily one of the standout spots from our Key West trip. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Yelp
Luv this place, it may be small but the taste is mighty. Started to rain so we wanted something quick to take home before we would get soaked had our meals in 5 minutes had shrimp port boy sandwich's that were fantastic great size and delicious sauce . My sister in law had shrimp boat and she said it was best fried shrimp she ever had!!!! Coleslaw was home made and sweet without being over sweet . Friendly staff and quick turnaround that packaged the takeout so it was still hot and crispy when we got home. Fun place definitely will go back
google avatar

Yelp
This is always a must make stop when I am at they keys! I always ask for the butter warm lobster roll and boy they they deliver! It's right on duval and is a ideal stop to make for a very delicious lobster roll! They have some additional seating in the back if you'd like to sit down and eat, or some stools in the front perfect for people watching while you eat a perfectly prepared lobster roll. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Khoa L.

Yelp
It was just okay. Got the lobster roll. On the smaller side, good amount of lobster meat but it is heavy on the celery. The bread tasted a bit stale. I've had much better lobster rolls. Only good thing was theres a coupon for 10% off. Wouldn't really come back unfortunately.
google avatar

Yelp
ADD THIS TO YOUR MIAMI ITINERARY. Honestly one of the best spots in Key West for seafood. The lobster roll and clams are a must-try--super fresh, full of flavor, and served in generous portions. The vibe here is casual and fun, exactly what you'd want in the Keys. It feels local, welcoming, and worth every penny. If you're in Key West, don't miss this place.
google avatar

Alessandra D.

Yelp
During our time in Key West, we craved a delicious lobster roll and some fish tacos. After reading reviews and hearing about it from Guy Fieri, we decided to go to DJ's Clam Shack. I was a bit skeptical about finding a "good" lobster roll in Key West, particularly since I'm used to the best ones from northern New Jersey and trips to New Hampshire and Maine. Both the fish tacos and lobster were unexpectedly tasty and, more importantly, incredibly fresh! They were so enjoyable that we went back the very next day. Every server and cashier was cheerful and welcoming. I've visited Key West a few times and have my go-to spots, but DJ's Clam Shack has made the cut for my next trip. Enjoy!
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
Absolutely THE BEST lobster roll in the Keys. Obviously I haven't tried them all but those here in Yelp and other locals mentioned this is the place to go so I did and it did not disappoint. Plenty of lobster on a perfectly toasted roll and could feed 2 folks. You walk right up at the counter, order and although they said 5-6 minutes, it took only 2-3. We got there early so found a table out back for 3 but seating is a bit of a challenge. Not much room but nice vibe nonetheless either in front people watching or in back as if in somebody's back yard. Very cool. So along with all our other Yelpers...try THE BEST LOBSTER ROLL in Key West!!!
google avatar

Mateusz G.

Yelp
THE BEST place we ate at in Key West. Guy Fieri was right - it's a must visit! Their clam chowder is one of the best I have ever head. So much flavor in every single spoon. Their lobster roll is right there as well! Loaded up with so much meat that you definitely don't need the double option hehe Do yourself a favor and definitely visit this place if you are in the area. Chill vibe so no need to dress up! Staff is great and will gladly have a small talk with you. We will be back for sure!

Yelp
Very lively place on the evening on Duval street. Service was quick: order at the counter. There were few places to sit but now much, so order to go for groups. Got the Regular lobster roll:4 stars. Good lobster, decent bread. Decent flavors. Loaded lobster roll:4.5 stars. Almost double the lobster on one roll. It was so much I couldn't finish it all. Clam chowder: 4 stars. Good flavor. Nice and thick. Surprisingly I enjoyed the side of slaw that came with the lobster roll. Complimented it well. Good job. It is rated high among the many lobster rolls I have had.
google avatar

Brenna P.

Yelp
I usually do night like fried food, but the fish tacos, while fried, where very fresh tasting and light. The fries were great. The gentleman who took our order was very friendly and gave us suggestions of other places he thought we may like. There is more seating (and a restroom - bless) behind the order counter.
google avatar

Vong P.

Yelp
DJ's Clam Shack = Seafood Heaven If you're in Key West, do not miss DJ's Clam Shack. The lobster roll is insanely good--packed with fresh, buttery lobster that melts in your mouth. The clam chowder? Creamy, rich, and absolutely to die for. And the fried calamari is crispy perfection, seriously out of this world. This spot is a must-visit for seafood lovers. Casual vibes, unforgettable flavors--just go. You'll thank yourself later.
google avatar

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place! The food was so good and well worth the hype. The price wasn't too bad for todays economy. My only issue was the lack of seating. You have to wait for your food and for a seat which can be troubling if you are tired and hungry just like we were at the time. I still would highly recommend this location.
google avatar

Sofyan S.

Yelp
Food (5/5): Got the clam chowder and the lobster roll. Both were absolutely amazing!! The clam chowder was so creamy and delicious while the lobster roll had a healthy amount of lobster with really delicious bread. Service (5/5): Service was quick and friendly. They got the chowder and lobster roll out basically as we ordered. Initially they mentioned it was going to take 10 minutes for the lobster roll but they ended up getting it out immediately. Ambiance (4/5): Chill beach shop ambiance with good amount of pseudo outdoor seating. There's tons of articles and material about Guy Fieri and the diners, dive-ins and dives show. Really great vibe overall.
google avatar

Ciera O.

Yelp
This is a definite must-stop while in Key West near Duvall street. And judging by the line that was outside when we left, many others feel that way, too. I had the clam chowder and mahi mahi tacos here, and both were a good! The chowder was nice and thick and had a decent amount of meat in it. The flavor was great. The taco were also very good, the breading on the fish was really tasty. The portions are also really big so definitely come hungry,'or even split a few things with other people. There isn't a whole lot of seating, and if it's busy that can be an issue if you have a lot of people. But, I would still highly recommend coming here for some food!
google avatar

JoAnne C.

Yelp
One of our favorite stops in key west the lobster roll & clams are AMAZING!!!! Do yourself a favor & just order two clams Friendly staff & great atmosphere!
google avatar

Veronica P.

Yelp
one of the best conch fritters i've had! the tacos were pretty tasty, as well. the seafood was all very fresh. small shack, but good ambiance (all outdoors, though, so not great for the summer)
google avatar

Charles V.

Yelp
Don't let the small and unassuming appearance steer you away. If you want some really good seafood, this is a must try. And it's priced very reasonably. I decided to taste the lobster roll as I wasn't in the mood for something fried. Wow! Really good. I prefer mine with hot butter versus cold with mayo ... and it was spot on! The lobster meat was so tender! I wish I got more!
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
The bomb.com!!! You have to check out this place for some lobster rolls! The guy working the window is so friendly, excellent service. We got the overstuffed lobster roll and our group (6 people) enjoyed it so much we went back the next day for more. We also tried the conch fritters which were delicious also. There are a few seats in the storefront and more around back. If lobster rolls is your thing- you must go to DJs clam shack.
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
Great little spot off duval street! Best lobster roll in the keys. Filled with lobster and they even have an overstuffed lobster roll option trying that next!
google avatar

Renee T.

Yelp
After researching places for lobster rolls in Key West, I landed on DJ's Clam Shack. They were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. The lobster roll was delicious and had an abundance of lobster. My niece and sister got the shrimp roll which they said was just ok. Definitely agree with the sentiments of others, the lobster roll is great so try them out!
google avatar

Rachel A.

Yelp
I honestly didn't think this was very good. I got the lobster roll. I wouldn't go back and I didn't think it was worth the cost either. :(
google avatar

Nai L.

Yelp
It's a small hut with a few seats in the front and back/side. Friendly staff that take you order at the window and someone drops off to you. The Maine Lobster Roll was delicious! The bread was perfectly toasted and the lobster had just enough seasoning to not take away from the delicious lobster meat. It came with a side if coleslaw which was good.

Morgan H.

Yelp

Yelp
DJ's Clam Shack is the best option for fast casual seafood in this area, no question. The Maine lobster roll was excellent, with heaps of lobster chunks and just the right amount of seasoning to keep the lobster at the center of the discussion. The fried shrimp tacos were also fantastic. First, I think someone at DJ's confused "tacos" with "burritos" because each of the two tacos was its own meal, easily. Within each "taco," there were large pieces of lightly breaded butterfly shrimp, along with pickled onions and a delicious sauce to balance out the taste. The tacos came with a huge basket of fries that almost stole the whole show -- perfectly golden brown and crispy on the outside, with lots of fluffy potato waiting on the inside. So good. Great spot for some straightforward seafood done really, really well!

Yelp
Came here after jet skiing all day on a Friday around 1:30 pm. This place came highly recommended specifically for the lobster roll and the conch fritters! They lived up to the hype! My boyfriend got the chicken tacos and they were huge! Loved that it was just a little walk up window shack on Duval st! Sitting there eating and people watching Duval street was def a highlight of the trip! I just love the keys and all the yummy food! This place was also on DDD there's signs about it everywhere
google avatar

Yelp
I've heard raving reviews for DJ's Clam Shack's lobster roll. I had to come try it for myself. Arriving, we immediately regretted choosing to dine here. The place was tiny and a complete hotbox. The kitchen encircles the dine in area. I'm not sure about the back seating because we took the front seat to look out onto the street but it was miserably hot. Props to the workers. Who were very kind. The guy taking orders up front did a great job striking up conversation with every patron that came in. I wanted a little bit of everything! They have a great menu. My party of 3 tried the clam chowder soup, the lobster roll, the fried clam strips, the fried shrimp and the chicken tenders. What I didn't like - fries came with everything. We had too many fries amongst the 3 of us. Hate for it to go to waste like that. They should create sides of these dishes without fries. We loved everything. The lobster roll was probably not the best lobster roll I've ever had though. It was good. And the meat was deliciously fresh. But it was lacking a wow factor. I enjoyed the clam strips more actually. Surprisingly my boyfriend also loved their chicken tenders here. All in all, a good lunch.
google avatar

Brannen P.

Yelp
Recommended by DDD, this was our first stop during our visit. As excited as I was to experience their famous clams, I was greatly let down. Flavor and freshness of the clams were spot on however they were quite sandy. In fact, every clam I ate had an overwhelming grit of sand. Very unpleasant. Staff was full of energy and very accommodating. If I were to ever return to this restaurant I would definitely stick to the lobster roll, which was impressive.,
google avatar

Alyssa A.

Yelp
Great stop for dinner or a late night snack while walking on Duval Street. We really wanted to try conch fritters while on this trip and had heard DJ's Clam Shack makes great ones. Conch Fritters were super tasty and perfectly cooked with that crisp crunch on the outside. Fries were average. They don't have much seating here, but we were lucky enough to find a comfortable spot for two. Delicious way to end our night.
google avatar

William W.

Yelp
We make sure to come here every time we visit Key West (usually more than once). The steamed clams and lobster roll are amazing. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are very friendly. Definitely worth a trip!
google avatar

Christine B.

Yelp
This is a cute spot. They got fans in the back to help keep you cool. I had the clam chowder and garlic bread and it was amazing. Like best clam chowder ever. I had the conch fritters. Never had conch, never will again. I had the fried shrimp and loved it. The lobster roll was okay. There was bees buzzing all around the soda machine so be careful If allergic. The workers were friendly.
google avatar

Dwayne H.

Yelp
A gem on Duval Street! Lobster roll was stuffed to the max (which I appreciate). Clams were solid...line drive down the middle. Not pictured here but also good were the Conch Fritters..which we smashed! So yea..if you're looking for a food first spot, stop in. Seafood is dope and the service is quick and friendly.
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
Outdoor dining only. Walk-up order. Fast service to the table. Not very many tables to sit. The lobster roll, clams and fritters were very good but pricey. Thank you
google avatar

Ianka S.

Yelp
We came for the famous lobster roll and it did not disappoint!!! Packed with high-quality lobster in a generous portion, served on a buttery, crisp roll with a killer sauce and perfectly crispy fries on the side. Still dreaming about that roll If you're in Key West, this is a must
google avatar

Salina X.

Yelp
We got the garlic steamed middle neck clams, Maine lobster roll, and fish fingers. The clams and lobster roll were tasty. The lobster roll had a generous amount of lobster. The fish fingers were nothing special. Service is so fast. We ordered and got our food within 5 minutes. Note that seating is a bit limited. There's some tables on the back deck for larger groups.
google avatar

Janelle M.

Yelp
Casual food truck situation... pretty pricey but that's just key west for you... the food was good but not spectacular. Service was just service lol nothing worth discussing.
google avatar

Curtis M.

Yelp
Food was fine, service was ok. It's all outside eating which is fine but I do not prefer sweating while eating. Lobster roll was really good big pieces of lobster, but it's very expensive for what you get.
google avatar

Osvaldo V.

Yelp
Right in the heart of Duval you will find DJ's clam shack. A rustic little restaurant with a real cool vibe. You will find one of the best cracked conch in town. The clam have been and still are really good. Just walk up to the window and place your order and take a seat. Then just wait for your fresh crispy sweet delicate conch to arrive. The staff is very nice and professional. I almost forgot to mention their awesome DJ clam shack, habanero pepper sauce.
google avatar

Erin W.

Yelp
The best lobster roll I've ever had!!! We will be back to Key West and 100% back to this restaurant. Great food!!!
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
I checked out this place after seeing a bunch of Instagram recommendations. It was good, but a bit overhyped and a bit to pricy or the sizes.. I went for lunch, but I think this place is better if you're looking for a snack. We ordered the clam soup and lobster sandwich. The soup portion size wassmall.. I would say. The lobster could use more condiments or spices, as it was on the sweeter side.
google avatar

Craig W.

Yelp
Is the lobster roll really, really good? Yes, it is. The lobster is absolutely fresh and delicious and the roll itself is terrific. Is it very, very expensive? Yes, but so is every other lobster roll everywhere else these days. The side of coleslaw was just ok. It's not enormous but it is jammed with tender, buttery lobster.
google avatar

Steve B.

Yelp
We love Diners, Drive in's and Dives places and were excited to try this one. Unfortunately, it was just So so The service was great, really nice young man took our order and asked where we were from and made nice conversation. We wanted to try a few things so it got pretty pricey for lunch at $75 for two of us. The lobster roll was ok, but kind of dry and the roll was nothing special. The Conch fritters just didn't work for us. It was our first time trying them so maybe it's just that, but these were kind of chewy and we didn't finish them. The best part was by far the Coconut shrimp with the freshest tasting shrimp and really flavorful breading, and the house made tartar sauce was great! Would go back there just for those! A last challenge was the pop from the dispenser was flat and just kind of summed up the total experience. Sorry Guy!
google avatar

Nina U.

Yelp
This spot still remains UNDEFEATED! The best lobster roll in my opinion! Now, as of late I haven't been a fan of lobster because of the seafood aroma--iykyk!! But DJ CLAM SHACK doesn't have that issue. There is no indication upon entry that they serve seafood. Which is a plus. The bread is a bit toasted and buttered. They give you the perfect portion of lobster and adding in the side of coleslaw that comes complimentary is an added bonus! Their servers are super quick and friendly and this will continue to be a must spot when in Key West!
