Why Food Sharing Is at the Heart of the Disability Justice Movement | Eater

"An immigrant-focused food warehouse in Renton described as a one-stop survival shop where the author stocked up on pandemic essentials — a 50-pound sack of rice, multiple five-pound bags of red lentils, a large can of olive oil, coconut milks, and years' worth of tea — framing it as a practical source for collective food security." - Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha

Google
AMAZING just amazing that this place isn’t more popular. From the outside its looks like a warehouse but it is full of the best stuff around. You find things here that you don’t find anywhere else I mean from one side of this place to another. It is full of just everything that you thought you didn’t need but you do and it’s cheap. It’s amazing dude you gotta check it out. I really encourage anyone too.

Google
So many options for foods from around the world . If u love ramen and u love options,u needa come here. I get my eyebrows threaded at the salon there and they do an amazing job at a great price so make sure u tip them well!

No frills market specializing in ethnic spices, dry and canned goods as well as produce for Middle Eastern, Asian, Indian and Mexican cooking. Produce is kept in wooden or plastic crates, much like what you see at the farmers market but feels a bit janky or not presented in a way that is appealing to most people, but in return, you get prices that are much better than the typical big box markets. For comparison, yellow onions are $0.49 per pound; white onions are $0.79 per pound; shallots $1.99 per pound; fresh ginger $1.79 per pound. You can buy saffron at the cash register (not displayed). Fluorescent lightning is like from a horror movie, dark and dingy with concrete floor throughout. Not your typical market but you can save a lot of money or pick up a difficult to find ingredient for ethnic food like spices and corn husks for tamales, banana leaves.

Google
I absolutely ❤️ this place. Amazing selection of Eastern European, Middle Eastern, Mexican, and of course, Asian foods. There are also baked breads from India, Afghanistan, and Russia. I was pretty impressed. There is also an incredible selection of instant noodles and snacks. I come back every week or every other week at the latest. The prices are worth coming back. For sure.

Google
Very good prices and availability of many ethnic food items (fresh, dried, and canned) Workers are nice and very helpful despite language barriers. Cleanness and organization need improvements. Always check the best by or expiration dates. I reported a couple of times expired dairy items, but still they were kept in the fridges, and I saw them in later visits. This also happened with other items (e.g Halva). They charge 15 cents per plastic bag, but you can get a cardboard box for free.

Google
DK Market offers a great variety of products—you can find almost everything you need, especially if you're looking for international or specialty items. However, the store could benefit from better organization and a more intuitive layout to make shopping easier and more efficient. Still, it's a solid spot for unique finds and everyday essentials.

Yelp
My favorite place for get Arabic food, the workers there so nice also the size and the arrangement of the place make it so easy to start and end point I like the Ambiance.

Yelp
Each time we come here, see various International goods and items we hadn't seen before! A lot of good varieties from different countries are represented - instant Ramen Noodle flavors from all over, Korean Spicy Buldak Noodles, boxes of numerous drinks, Arab snack foods, Indian Naan breads, Chapati, Roti, etc. There are a lot of Korean Choco Pie flavors, Chocolate Panda cookies, Shrimp Crackers and so forth! They also have Chinese food items, Laos and Thai noodles. Tried the Chocolate and Hazelnut Croissants snacks! SO bloody good!!! A lot of fruits and produce are available as well. The aisles inside are kind of narrow and inventory can be overloaded on shelves, though. Hard to reach for certain items stacked up, especially for canned goods and sauce bottles, packets. They have an ample amount Fish Sauce, of Hoisin Sauce, Sriracha, Soy Sauce as well as many others for your convenience. Customer service at the checkout registers are always great when enough employees are working. Haven't had any issues when purchasing the grocery items during our most recent visits. Friendly staff for the most part... Negative is the Parking! Be prepared to deal with small parking spaces in the front and near the entrance when it gets too crowded. Best to park in the back, a bit far away from the main entrance would be my suggestion since it can get pretty crazy at times with lots of people trying to park their cars at the same time! Weekends are jam-packed!!! Prices are average compared to other stores, depending on which item, though...

Yelp
Huge international grocery carrying primarily middle eastern, south Asian, southeast Asian, East Asian and Mexican foodstuffs. Great selection of spices cheap! Large produce section with lots of choices too. The frozen and refrigerated section is a bit weird to get to and I didn't get to browse it. On Friday afternoon around 2pm the store was packed and I had to park elsewhere and walk over. Interior was cramped and crowded. They were restocking and had pallets everywhere. If you can skip the cart it's easier to move around. Staff were very nice and helpful. Clientele was Indian , middle eastern, African, East Asian, Mexican and a few white folks. It was fairly easy to find things and they had a huge selection but surprisingly they didn't carry the mango pickle I like but they did have the Chinese sesame paste no one else carries. Large produce section. I'll definitely be back!if the parking and crowded aisles weren't issues I'd give them 5 stars!

Yelp
Everybody should stop in to DK market at least once to see all they have to offer. It's basically a big warehouse full of Asian and European foods from bubble tea to Turkish cotton candy. There is also an Asian bakery and salon inside. They keep it very cold because they have a large selection of open bins filled with vegetables. I had a craving for canned fish thanks to TikTok's Tinned Fish Reviews and after buying a nice selection and some drinks, I paid around $70. I'm really pleased with the selection here.
google avatar

Tina E.

Yelp
A wide variety of food and beverages from throughout the world. Find the ingredients for that new recipe you've wanted to try. Be adventurous!
google avatar

Nandini H.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised to find this grocery store that has a good mix of Indian, Asian and middle eastern groceries... It's very close to tukwila Costco and convenient for a convenient grocery haul

Thi B.

Yelp
They don't have customer service. No return or exchange policy, if you bought something from there, it should be thrown away than brought back.
google avatar

Yelp
This market has a lot of amazing goods to offer. It is a big warehouse full of groceries you would not find at a Kroger, Walmart, Safeway or Costco. You can buy items both in bulk or individually. We were impressed by the amount of selection they have of both produce, dry goods, home goods and bath and beauty products. Your options are endless here. I took as many pictures as I could to share, but it is worth making the trip for yourself as the product selection is so huge. The photos I included were from maybe a third of this market. In a time of COVID-19, there was hand sanitizer, masks, plastic sneeze guards between the customers and cashiers. While a warehouse setting can be a little chaotic at times, it was very clean and easy to distance from others. We would absolutely come back!
google avatar

Jboogie L.

Yelp
Prices are comparable for some items. I guess you need to know how to shop and the prices for bulk items. They do sell Kirkland sugar here which I was suprised. Asian vegetables were bountiful and prices were similiar to those of AFM, Jing Jing, Ranch 99. There is also a tremendous amount of dried goods here like bulgar, chana, spices, herbs. I did not see currants or pigeon peas though. I would come back if I'm in the area as it is fairly close off the freeway.

Yelp
Everything you never knew that you wanted to try! I stumbled upon this market while in search of a dining experience. DK has a little bit of everything including, but not limited to, housewares, food, and personal care items. DK offers opportunity to try various international products at an affordable price. The large space and quantity of product will require a great amount of time if you've nothing particular in mind.

Bo W.

Yelp
The food/produce here is reasonably priced. The service was good. The ambiance is like a small warehouse. The entire play is cold. I can't shop here too long. It would be a quick grab for me here.
google avatar

Bryan R.

Yelp
I love this place it is huge and very easy to get lost in the number of selections.. Large selection of oils, ramen, olives, crackers\chips, legumes, and pasta and so far after my third time the fresh produce has been fresh with great prices. They carry some of the best freshest pitas, lavash, and other varieties of bread from a local Everett wholesale bakery. They have the perfect french rolls for French Dips, Italian Beef and or for cheesesteaks! In a nutshell looking for a place to find Asia, Indian, and middle eastern dry and fresh produce at a reasonable price.
google avatar

Fouzia M.

Yelp
Everything is over priced. Alot of the stuff you find at DK can be found at any local halal grocery store for less. Price gouging hot sauce during a shortage is completely unnecessary and poor business practices, it's never that serious

Maria P.

Yelp
They raised prices to the level of the common U.S. grocery stores or higher and reduced the variety of fruits and vegetables in their store. This store is a large warehouse with no heat or minimal heat. If you live nearby or need some food not sold in other stores, you may still go there. But with many U.S. store chains now offering ethnic cuisine items, and with online shopping, I am not sure it is worth shopping at DK Market.
google avatar

Sandra L.

Yelp
Interesting market... very international. They stock many products that I have never seen before. Products to cook Chinese, India, middle eastern, Caribbean, Mexican, etc dishes. At least 30 different types of rice! This is the market to check out if you are cooking ethnic foods/dishes and can't find the ingredients else where They also have fresh veggies and fruits at lower prices than most supermarkets in the Seattle area

Richard N.

Yelp
Great price and selection of international hard to find foods and groceries. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Katherine S.

Yelp
Wow, this place has almost everything you need for an Asian meal. We stumbled across this while we were getting our oil changed at a dealership and walked over. This place has large pots to various ingredients to fresh produce and pretty much everything you want to name it! This place is like Costco size but on a smaller buying scale such as cheap scattered rice from broken bags. The lighting in the place is poor but I'm sure they're trying to cut down the cost.
google avatar

Renata L.

Yelp
DK used to be my favorite place to buy fruits and veggies plus all kind of interesting products from all around the world. Until today. Everything, I repeat Everything that you can buy somewhere else, was more expensive in DK. Try Walmart across the street. Pictures of my fav mayo... I would on the difference!
google avatar

J S.

Yelp
This place has all kinds of stuff from South Asia, SE Asia, East Asia, the Middle East, Europe etc. It's unbelievable all the things they have here. Prices can be pretty good. There's a vast selection of frozen items and dry goods and fresh produce. You can even buy green coffee beans to do Ethiopian Coffee roasting and serving ceremony! It's a feast for the senses and when you get home you'll make a feast with ingredients that are hard to find elsewhere. I can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Clint W.

Yelp
This place really is just a big warehouse. Its no thrills, but you are probably going to see brands on products you didn't even know existed. It can be overwhelming at times, because there are so many variations. There are tons of nibbles if that is your thing. I did knock down a bit because some of the stuff has definitely been picked over and is sitting outside the original wrapper. This is definitely the case in the frozen section, which seemed a bit forlorn Still, if you have an afternoon to meander, this might be the place for you.
google avatar

Ali A.

Yelp
If looking for any international produce and food related stuff, this is a good place around Renton.
google avatar

Joseph I.

Yelp
I ALWAYS come here to get my Turkish food. They have my favorite olives, cookies, cheese, baklava, soft drinks, tea, chocolate spread, nuts, sunflower seeds, lokum, honey, and oils. The prices are very reasonable. This is a huge place and is probably offering much much more in the ethnic food of your choosing. I highly recommend this place. It is in an industrial area and not like a supermarket chain. So keep your expectations low about this "humble" store. I'm a regular here and cannot live without it. Again, highly recommended.

R S.

Yelp
Good selection of Indian and international foods. Parking is limited and tight. Things are relatively haphazardly organized (but I have seen worse at some Indian stores in the east side area). Prices are Okay, some items are cheaper but most (especially produce) are the same price you will get at another store. People who are gushing about low prices don't understand how to look for a deal
google avatar

Diana X.

Yelp
This place is incredible! Like a Costco, but for Asian ingredients and produce. I've just moved here and was thrilled by the vast selection and reasonable prices. The place seems to be always busy, for good reason. Ingredients that I didn't expect to find, such as genuine Middle Eastern olive oil or fresh curry leaves, were here. Will definitely be back, especially if I need hard-to-find ingredients.
google avatar

Teresa M.

Yelp
Wow, this place is funky! It's a warehouse, Costco style, but they don't require membership and it's full of a huge variety of ethnic foods. Not only did I spend like an hour here just slowly wandering up and down the aisles, I found a bunch of stuff that I didn't even know existed...but I most definitely need them all! One of the main reasons I came here was for unusual produce. While the veggies I wanted were way, way past their prime, they had several produce items that actually were high quality; I feel this is definitely a hit or miss place depending on seasons and when the shipments come on. Along side the grocery store there are a few other businesses that share space, including Spice King, and some sort of Russian oriented shop. If you're into ethnic cooking, definitely stop by and see what they have to offer. Make sure you give yourself time to really browse the aisles, they have all sorts of stuff from all over the globe!
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
A ridiculous amount of international foods I haven't seen elsewhere plus your usual international/Asian staples. It's a true no frills warehouse market like many others in the city. Paint the walls? Forget it. Hire an interior designer? You must be joking. Architect? lol. Just rent out the space, buy the cheapest industrial shelving you can find and stack it full of stuff. Prices are pretty good as well for 99% of the items. I haven't explored all of it you but you can bet your bottom rupee that I'm a going back agin.
google avatar

Lawrence L.

Yelp
I could have been more descriptive with my first review. This place is a regular on my list for Asian ingredients. Still a no-frills shopping experience but an EXTENSIVE selection of ingredients. Since I first wrote this they extended their fresh vegetable selection. A lot of choices for Japanese eggplant peppers, fresh greens, and at very reasonable prices. There is a growing section of Mexican-style sauces, tortillas, and other food items. Some hard to get sauces from Herdez, which are a variety of authentic flavors. You will find European pickled veggies, canned fish of all shapes and sizes, mountains of pasta, and much more. Take your time going through the store, dress warmly in colder months (really) and you will be rewarded with hard to find items at very reasonable prices.
google avatar

Ahmed B.

Yelp
Good place with tons of Asian spices. Good prices too. It gets busy in there and A bit cold since the space is so big. So if you go in winter then take a jacket. They have practically everything in there from grocery perspective. They have good baklava! They have good Indian spices and Middle Eastern spices and Chinese spices. They have fresh produce in multiple varieties and again good prices. Better prices than Uwajimaya. Parking is a bit tough at busy times since the lot is small and there are teo other business that share the lot.
google avatar

Kristi S.

Yelp
Had lots of good produce, but was short staffed. Hard to find some things, and couldn't find employees to answer questions or help me find what I was looking for. Got a lot of great things, though. Thanks for stocking Indian vegetables!
google avatar

Muneer M.

Yelp
Great for groceries form other nations that hard to find here in the states, cheaper the small groceries and prefer to go there when doing long grocery list
google avatar

Daren D.

Yelp
My first impression driving up was, "Oh cool - an asian costco!" Ehhhh---wrong! Warehouse? Check. Clean warehouse like costco? Nope. Everything is decently hand written on regular paper. "Here" it's kind of organized & neat; "there" it's... pretty messy and un-neat. One spot you'll find bottles of whatever stacked nice and straight, another you'll find goods partially spilled over/opened, sloppy stacked pallets, and a mish mesh of different stuff. Surprisingly, the bathroom is rather presentable. On the other hand, one end of the warehouse floor, where it's used for excess space and just junk in general, it's totally disoriented and one of the forklifts is even on it's side! How the fudge!?!?! Now, despite the mess this place is, there are actually some GOOD things to say about it---yes GOOD things! You will find an incredible amount of diverse items - chinese, japanese, russian/ukrainian, korean, indian, filipino - might even say rivals the selection of uwajimaya & great wall and then some for certain things. Have a glance at my pics. =) Rices, noodles, I think I noticed 2 "sub-tenants" within: 1 russian/ukrainian and one vietnamese. And the customers you see may hint easily: i saw [and heard] russian, indian, american, asian... Good concept, just... a liiiittle messy, eh?
google avatar

Ashok S.

Yelp
DK Market is your one-stop Costco for all ethnic food. They have a huge assortment of produce, dry, canned and frozen goods. You get good value on most items since they are sold in bulk. I love the quality of the produce and the wide variety. They have a great collection of food from the following regions: Indian, Middle-Eastern, Russian, Eastern European, Mexican, Mediterranean etc. Great for families looking to stock up once in a while.
google avatar

Liezle I.

Yelp
My favorite international market! Large warehouse that is ALWAYS busy when I go & has such a variety of items from spices to sauces, rice, beans etc. But my favorite thing to go here for are the veggies, 1 because I find that they are a bit cheaper than other asian markets & 2 they are almost always fresh! Oh yeah can't forget about the huge ramen section in the far back on the right side. If your looking for spices you are in the right place! I would walk down every aisle, they have such interesting things that will catch your eye I promise! Only thing is they don't sell meat..
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
Fantastic location for international food and fresh produce. Cut half off your grocery bill compared to Safeway or Fred Meyer.
google avatar

Jane M.

Yelp
The Costco of International market. What an amazing find. I primarily go here to shop for indian and asian food items. The food items are always well stocked, prices are clearly printed on every aisle, loads of options , plenty of room, and you will find all you need - groceries, rice, sauces, spices, vegetables, snacks, under one roof. Highly recommend giving them a try.

Neil F.

Yelp
It is a very good market, it has products that you will not likely find any place else. The only complaint I would have is that you need to check the expiration dates on things that you buy there. Otherwise I would have given it five stars As far as it not being thrilling, I don't understand that. Since when does a grocery store need to be thrilling? It is a big Costco like Warehouse full of asian, Middle Eastern and Eastern European foods. The prices are pretty much unbeatable
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
My kinda place. It ain't pretty, but boy you can find just about every ethnic option on the planet here. The thing that hurt the most, was just visiting the area and not being able to fill the cart overflowing. We did get a few produce items, and all were fresh, delicious, and crazy affordable for this expensive metro. Folks were friendly, and helped me find a specialized item. There's a small Indian restaurant, and an Eastern European deli inside the large facility. Both looked legit, and I lamented we had dinner plans for the evening. Great market. We'll make it habit to come here when we head home...
google avatar

Junaid B.

Yelp
I tried buying alsafa jumbo hotdog. Advertise price was $.99 and at the cash register they tried to charge me $6.99. When i told them what the price showed they refused to honor the price. Do not shop their unless you want to be ripped off.
google avatar

Annie M.

Yelp
I love this store. They have lots of awesome finds! I went there yesterday looking for millet. They have a couple different kinds. It can be a little bit difficult to find things, as the labels are a bit underwhelming. That said, if you have any unusual ingredients you need to find, you can probably find them here. Bitter melons, japanese sweet potatoes, lotus root, and a bunch of other things I've never even heard of. Yesterday they also had fresh pita and naan from a local bakery. It was like three feet long and smelled so good! I always come away with some fresh finds when I go here. The best thing about this place is they sell Arroy-D coconut milk for cheap, and they even have it in the half sizes! Because sometimes you only need a little bit :)

O M.

Yelp
The place is a huge international groceries/warehouse. It's not as clean and organized like Costco. Unfortunately the item that I purchased was stale. Since their policy is no return after 5 days and the stale item was discovered after the 5 day period, we just had to throw the bag of crackers away. It's fun to just look around for the variety of items, but that's about it.
google avatar

Trevor C.

Yelp
4-5 Stars- This is really good and warrants more of a review, but I think Jeff N (read his full description for sure) most accurately explained it: "Imagine Costco or Sams Club... but darker. Now imagine a Mediterranean, Indian, Asian and East European market... but not as nice. Now if you took all these and combined them in some freakishly good experiment you would have DK. :)" It is absolutely a warehouse in the strictest of sense. Probably was used to store tires and auto parts, before it was determined that tires needs better accommodations This humble structure is filled with the most fantastic foreign staples and specialties that rivals that in the international district, however. The dingy appearance is good in that it keeps the House Fraus and Hamburger Helper crowd at the Fred Meyer. EDIT: Remodeled the interior a bit with freezer cases and more tables to grace the produce up a bit, I think. The parking lot still quickly become grid-locked most days.

Yelp
Funnnnn!!!!!!!!!! Love looking at all the food isle products! Some great prices, check it out. Seriously. Ok, it's kind of all sketchy looking, but fun to shop inside, just ignore the scary dirty parts. Note to DK, outside garbage cans are really a MUST...... maybe people would actually use them if you had them available?

Rashin R.

Yelp
this is for ,cashier #3 mandana she is absolutely charming and wonderful person that each time i go to her register, she is worm, kind and friendly. she also has a lots of information about products. i recommend DK market . also mandana is the second reason that i go to DK market.

Yelp
I've struggled to always find the ingredients I need for certain dishes. Especially since Pita King closed down (fresh made in front of your face pita + deli). My family is Lebanese and typically it takes a few grocery stores to find the right brand and type of specific things. Two of the most important of those being pita bread and grape leaves. I can happily tell you they have both with many options. It was a thing of beauty to see the isle marker say grape leaves instead of "Ethnic Food". They source some of their goods from Crescent Bakery (Lebanese bakery!) which was a smaller operation that was based solely in Vancouver BC. They would make deliveries every Tuesday to Seattle grocery stores for those who remember back in the day but have since grown. They now have a production facility in Everett so you can expect fresh pita no matter what day of the week. They also sell Crescent's amazing selection of baklava. My boyfriend is Mexican and cooks some amazing food with the caveat he can get the ingredients he needs. Suffice to say this is a one stop shop for our household! It's not a fancy grocery store but it's all about selection here. If you wanted pizza rolls adjust your expectations.
google avatar

Susan R.

Yelp
This place has the most amazing selection of international foods - cooking oils, flours, beverages and more in dozens of types and flavors. We didn't need anything in particular but managed to bring home bags of interesting foods to try out. Vegetable spread from Bulgaria, cookies and biscuits from Spain and Canada, black beans from Thailand, spicy sardines from Portugal - so many interesting foods! They also have a selection of fresh produce and meat/fish and frozen foods. For anyone visiting or living here now, this would be a great resource for locating familiar foods far from home. We will definitely be back to try more!

Mona A.

Yelp
I to love DK market until I purchased the Guava juice and it was contains part of animal, it made me sick for 5 days and I called and asked for refund and to return all other unopened items because I will not be able to trust their products anymore and they refused because of their policy of no return after 5 days and for the frozen item
google avatar

Tony A.

Yelp
Pros: While this is not your traditional American grocery store (e.g., Safeway), it's very no frills and to-the-point; large open space with fruits and vegetables in a warehouse-like location; very inexpensive; my family's go-to grocery store for quality and affordable fruits and vegetables; shop here at least once per week Cons: Parking lot is always crowded and a little small
google avatar

Stacey L.

Yelp
I love this place. It's encompasses everything I loved growing up in the south end, the mix of people, hearing different languages, the food! I love the Banda music the crew blasts near the vegetable section, the south east Asian food cases, the variety of cheese, oils, flours, noodles and stuff you usually just cannot find elsewhere. There's always something new to discover and I could spend hours just looking at all the goodies from all over the world in here. I've developed a really bad longganissa habit and the Bulgarian feta is amazing! My wife loves the tea aisle. Come try it out!
google avatar

Joyce L.

Yelp
Stumbled into this place when I ate at Spice King. It's a grocery warehouse with an interesting mix of food/spices/goods from different cultures ranging from Chinese, Filipino, Turkey, India, ... In fact, I almost missed the Eastern European deli and the Chinese herbal store within the market. Parking is very limited. Seems like only a handful of goods were slightly cheaper than other Asian/Indian markets. I didn't buy anything during my 15 minute look-see visit but I will be back because it is an interesting place
