Maryland-Made Old Bay Vodka Is Ready to Fill Shelves Left Bare By Russian Vodka Bans | Eater DC

"I know DMV Empanadas has been a fixture at D.C. and Baltimore-area farmers’ markets for nearly 10 years, filling empanadas with varieties like chicken, arroz and spicy pork, shrimp Old Bay, and cheeseburger, and it will be part of the Commas food hall." - Stephanie Carter

Google
These empanadas are SO good I drive from the other side of Baltimore to get them sometimes. I particularly recommend the chicken pesto and chorizo potato ones. They all have their names pressed into the edge of the empanada which is so cute and handy to differentiate them. Don't skip the sauce, it makes them even more yummy. The staff are very friendly and helpful too! It can be a bit hard to find parking depending on the time of day, but that's how it is at cross street market and the empanadas are worth it. I've never had trouble finding a table to sit at.

Google
I tried empanadas for the first time ever And DMV empanadas has set a new standard for me. Savoured every bit of my pesto chicken empanada and loved every frickin’ bite. Must try!

Google
It was my first time yesterday, and I already kept thinking of going back to try the other varieties... I tried the spinach and cheese and the chicken empanada.. I love every single bite... one empanada is enough to fill you up if you are a small eater

Google
Absolutely peak. I'm reviewing on behalf of their stand at the Waverly Farmers Market; this is the best stand out of all of them. If friends and I are going to the saturday morning Farmer's Market, we're going to get empanadas. They're synonymous. And I suspect that's the case for many Hopkins students, because the line often extends really far back. Highly recommend the Spicy Chicken (which is indeed spicy) and the Pesto Chicken. They're $4 each, and as a secret easter egg, the name of the flavor you got is hidden on the crimped part. Chef's kiss. Keep it up DMV Empanadas!!! - Your #1 Fan

Google
Stopped by after the baseball game to grab a bite while waiting for traffic to die down. Y'all, the spicy pork empanadas are divine. We grabbed a sampling of flavors but went back to grab six more spicy pork for lunch the next day. Friendly service and great food, we will be back!

Google
I thought that their empanadas were wonderful. They offer a wide variety of flavors (the chorizo potato was my favorite!), and they were all hits. Very filling, and they don’t skimp on the meat. I visited during a pretty slow period (weekday afternoon) and the staff was very kind and wore gloves when handling my food. They also have Mexican Coke and other not-often-seen drinks for sale. Will visit again! Also: pertaining to their name (which seemed to have made a few people mad), I agree that Baltimore is its own thing apart from DC, but this empanada place also has a primary location in Gaithersburg, which is squarely in the DMV.

Google
Stopped by their booth at the farmers market multiple times. It’s everything you want it to be, be sure to grab a few flavors to try! The drinks rotate fruit flavors that taste fresh picked and flavorful. My favorite emps in order of preference, no matter what time of day it is! — Chicken 🐔 Tato Chorizo 🥔 Eggy Baconator 🥓

Google
This place offers about 15 types of empanadas. If you've never had an empanada, compare it to a samosa or hot pocket. The flavors people around me highlighted were the old Bay shrimp empanada and the beef empanada. I got the two vegan empanadas which were delicious. They had a few vegetable and cheese empanadas as well. I decided to upgrade to an empanada bowl thinking it was a side salad. One bowl is enough for two people. The salad was huge! Also, the salad dressing appears to be made with cream. I'd definitely go back!

Yelp
Today I went to the farmer's market and was delighted to see this place! These are the best empanadas I've ever had! They look small but they're filling and thick. I ended up getting the bacon, egg, and cheese one. I love the design on the edge because it tells you exactly what you're getting.

Yelp
Really happy with the empanadas we ordered for takeout (so can't speak to a dine-in experience). We tried a variety of flavors and all were top-notch. I especially appreciated that they put the type of empanadas you have on the crust - so no guessing what kind of filling you're going to get! Very flavorful, great crust, the fillings were good and the delivery was smooth. No complaints!

Yelp
Had their cheeseburger empanada from their stand at the Fells Farmers Market on Saturday mornings! Came with two sauces. A bit pricey for a single empanada, but quite tasty nonetheless. Hope to try some of their other flavors!

Yelp
Oh my gosh!! Delicious! My friend and I were grabbing coffee on a Saturday morning and happened upon the Fells point farmers market where we smelled this amazing stall. She got the spicy chicken and I got the chorizo bacon; both were delicious and saucy. The service was great as the lady behind the register was pointing out what flavors were popular. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
After I took my first bite of one of the empanadas, my first words were, "Holy ****!" I like to think of myself as a bit of an empanada connoisseur--these empanadas are in contention for the best I've ever had in my life. I had the ground beef, chicken, and spicy chicken empanadas. It doesn't really matter which you choose because they're all phenomenal. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Bit more expensive than their farmers market location, but same flavor. + Empanada Bowl ($18): chicken, shrimp old bay, and masaco empanadas cut in half and over a bed of romaine and spring mix. Regular salsa sauce and this green goddess-like dressing. The chicken was the best, nice savory and sweet blend from the potato and raisin (8/10). Shrimp old bay was ok, the shrimps were really small but it was the most savory (7/10). Masaco was a better sweet and savory combo of plantain and pork, but leans to the sweetest side (7.3/10)

Yelp
Happened upon DMV Empanadas after finding So Beachy closed in Cross Street Market yesterday. I was starving and this seemed like the best option. The young man behind the register was a peach and helped me work through the many empanada options. I ended up ordering two #2s and one #10. I wanted to order a side, but there were none that I could see. The only thing other than just empanadas was an empanada salad. I considered it, but decided no. The food was ready quickly after I paid. I took the container and went to find a spot to eat in the market. The empanadas were too hot to eat for some time. When I did finally bite in, the #2 tasted pretty good. I didn't like the #10 and didn't eat more than half. Also didn't like the spicy sauce. Overall, I could have skipped eating here. The #2 empanada is decent though if you're in the mood.

Yelp
Delightful little empanada place at Fed Hill's Cross Street Market. Friendly service and large-size empanada. I has a ground beef one. Delish!

Yelp
Deeeee-li-cious empanadas inside Cross St Market! The menu features over a dozen different flavors, both savory and sweet. Love the chicken, ground beef, and ham. These empanadas are nice and hearty - great as a snack but will also work as a quick meal. Can order ahead via their website. Pro-Tip: grab a to-go order while you're enjoying drinks at One Star - they'll let you eat these at the bar!

Yelp
Experienced DMV Empanadas while at the Crofton Farmers Market! The service was good, the feel of the market was very homey and comfortable! Now to the Main attraction, the empanadas! I had the cheese burger , the spicy chicken and the steak and cheese!! My favorite hands down was the steak and cheese. It was very flavorful and juicy and made me want to order 10 more!! Would I say these are the best you'll ever have, prob not but they are good and will hit the spot!!

Yelp
Despite what another reviewer said, each empanada is labeled with big letters on the crust so you know which is which. Look at the pictures. That said, I've always had a good experience here. Great variety of flavors. Tasty sauces. What's not to love?

Yelp
Good empanadas. Lots of options. I tried the chicken pesto, shrimp old bay, and spinach and cheese. I liked them all but I think chicken and pesto was best. But the shrimp old bay... They were ready quickly and inexpensive enough to try a few of the many flavors.

Yelp
7/10. It was pretty good and in a nice area. Solid place but the prices are a bit high for quantity

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, but it failed me. First of all, the person working was on her phone the entire time and didn't seem like she was paying attention to our orders. Come to find out, she really wasn't. I didn't get any of the empanadas I ordered- I wanted chicken and shrimp, and I got pork and beef ‍ I'm just glad I don't have dietary restrictions, because this was a total fail.

Yelp
The cheeseburger empanadas are freaking bomb.com! I tried it once and then went four times in one week. I was obsessed.

Yelp
1) Thank you for your food and staff getting me violently ill. 2) Thank you for being so cheap you charge for empanada sauce rather than provide it in the normalcy and tradition of the food 3) Thank you for not teaching your employees and family how to wash their hands after they sneeze on the utensils while selling and serving food 4) Thank you for sneezing on food and then not throwing the food in the trash so your food can get as many customers sick with respect to public health and the spread of COVID-19 and variants of COVID 5) Thank you for not wearing masks so that your employees and their family can spread the flu, COVID-19 and all other virus related issues in a public setting such as a farmer's market 6) Thank you for not reflecting good hygiene practices because for your type of food services, you put profits over the safety of your customer 7) Thank you for absolutely nothing

Yelp
Gave us the wrong order. We didn't realize it until we got home, which was 40 minutes away! Couldn't even eat them because we couldn't identify what they were. They don't label them and put them all in the same container, so unless you cut open each one you have no idea what you will be eating. Thankfully we ordered from another spot, so we still had something we could actually eat.
