How to Visit Korea's Demilitarized Zone the Right Way

"Perhaps the most somber aspect of this museum is how it sheds light on the human cost of the Korean War. As well as copies of the signed Armistice Agreement, its four exhibition halls contain official missing persons notices, memoirs from South Korean generals, and letters written by American POWs. It’s located at the eastern-most part of the DMZ; about an hour’s drive if already in Pyeongchang for the Olympics."

Included in the DMZ entry fees. Nice museum oriented around the peace and reunification of Korean. I enjoy it more than the war museum. There is also a nice garden where you can take pictures and enjoy a nice walk.

Gosung DMZ Museum offers a history of Korean war and the progress of DMZ layouts. They displayed escape boats used by North Koreans. This place is inside the military lines, so you have to get the clearance and pass before crossing the checkpoint. Also, they displayed the Berlin wall.

I didn't expect it because I stopped by the observatory, but you really don't have to. It's just the level of an elementary school student. It's okay if you're with the kids.

Albeit heartbreaking and made me choke away tears, this is a wonderful museum to visit. The 6.5 War Experience Exhibition Hall offered a chunk of of the history. The rest is found here at the DMZ Museum. It's free of charge and lots of parking spaces. Outside, there was a piece of the Berlin Wall sent by Germany in the hopes of one day, the two Koreas will be united. There's a real boat on display that was used by NK defectors. Inside, was 3-4 floors of history and information. There's not a lot of English translations available but Papago helped a lot. Spent over 2 hours here. Include it in your plan.

This is a must visit, to get perspective and understand the Korean Peninsula current situation. Also a great place to bring your family and know about Korean history.

Nice and historic place showing the ongoing struggle of the two countries, families were separated by the war, and hope someday it will be a unified country. The place has excellent exhibits depicting the war and from the observation decks you can view the "Line in the Sand"..only thing is that the process to get to the place should be better explained, we made it all the way to the checking point only to be sent back to process our car and pay the very cheap fee...this being said...you need a car because there is no buses going there...we were told that land on each side of the DMZ is thriving with flora and fauna due to the fact that nobody is allowed in the area
