The 17 Best Restaurants in Ashland, Oregon | Eater Portland

"This plaza-adjacent teahouse serves oolong, chai, and pu’erh in a sunny Moroccan-themed room. Food stays relatively simple — think bowls, toasts, and meze — but the shop is a worthy hideaway when the weather turns for cups of Lu’an Gua Pian and house blends." - Susanne Robertson

Google
Good tea, not surprisingly. Though not cheap. The dahl was very good. The hummus was a bit lemony; the portion was very generous but it doesn't come with pita, you have to order that separately, which winds up making the hummus expensive.

Lucera Love

Google
What a sweet and cozy little tea shop! The food was very fresh, healthy, delicious, and without allergens. I feel nourished and happy. I love it and can’t wait to visit again next time I am in town.

Google
We went in Dobra Tea at Asheville - North Carolina, and repeat the experience daily while we are visiting. Such great surprise find a Dobra Tea in Ashland - Oregon! The food is amazing, very healthy, exactly what matches with the quality of the teas that the house offers. The space is comfortable with options to sit on. The experience of drinking tea slowly in this pleasant environment while chatting or just enjoying the space is great highlight in Ashland.

Google
I’m confused! Ordered one whole Oregon blue salad ($18) and also a half or Oregon blue ($12). When I opened the delivery cartons, there was very little difference between the two. So I weighed them. A two-ounce difference (see photos) is the difference? In any event, this item is mostly croutons. Way overpriced—half or whole. Disappointing.

So enjoy the vast choices of tea, the service and delicious in-house pastries. All provide a delightful rest and regroup!

Google
I would have loved to visit again! I may still try. Nourish salad was solid. Didn't try any tea (this time; will update if I do). The selection of teas is for serious tea lovers, and we definitely picked up some to take home with us. The ambiance was probably my favorite; perfect for sitting and enjoying a cuppa with a small treat or snack. Saving to remember for future trips

Google
Great selection of quality teas and good selection of food. They have more traditional tables to sit at as well as cushions for sitting on the floor. The tea is a great value. They also have high quality boba drinks. It's a great place to relax.

Mr. Fuck'em'ups

Google
One of my favorite places to go when I have some down time. The tea is good quality and the staff are trained and knowledgeable about what they're serving, unlike teapot on wheels (which i cannot condemn enough for their lack of proper tea, proper knowledge of tea and how to serve it, or the fact they basically told me I have NO idea what I'm talking about and that I'm "used to k cups", even though I have mine imported, and have been using bricks, cakes, coins, etc. For YEARS).

Yelp
Great service. Nice ambiance. Nice place to have some tea and a snack. I enjoyed their spicy chai masala. Very tasty.

Yelp
Dobrá is a cute place to grab an afternoon tea and hang with friends. The ambiance is super cozy and everything you'd want from a tea house. I enjoy all the options for seating! There are 2-too tables with chairs, a cozy little couch area and then a traditional floor seating area with cushions. All the spaces are separate from each other giving you some privacy. The tea selection is very vast!! It is mostly more herb, garden forward teas rather than sweet, fruit teas. There is an entire page of only herbal teas without caffeine which I really appreciate as a non-caffeine drinker. They also have a few pastries that are all gluten-free options. It is pretty dark in there with the windows being covered and the "mood lighting." So it is more of a space to journal or quietly chat in with a friend. They do not have wifi, so this is not the place to come and work or study. There is free parking reserved for Dobrá tea customer in the back! Very helpful for when downtown gets really busy in the summer.

Yelp
It's a nice place if you are a tea gourmet, but when I asked for milk and sugar with the tea I'd chosen I was told that wasn't allowed because "the kitchen wouldn't like it." If there's some kind of reason why that particular tea isn't served that way, I guess I would have appreciated hearing more and maybe learning something. But being shot down and dismissed because "the kitchen wouldn't like it" just means this is a place I will never feel welcome at. There are other tea houses in Ashland that will happily serve tea the way you want. I suggest you try one of them unless you already know plenty about tea and can make choices Dobrá's snooty kitchen approves of.

Yelp
Enjoyed afternoon break here after exploring Lithia Park - the tea presentation was beautiful, the cookie and butter cake tea cake were yummy, and the staff were so friendly!

Yelp
A must do each time I come to Southern Oregon! It's such a nice spot to just sit and enjoy a nice cup of hot or iced tea. I love the way many of their teas are served; kettle, cup, milk and honey. I've tried so many that I highly recommend to do a new one each visit. Along with the tea, I always do their hummus & veggie platter along with their pita Lebanon. I've done their bowls too and the sir food has never disappointed! Healthy and filling, easy for 2 people to share. It's busy, each time I've visited there's always some foot traffic and the back room always has guests. The front and outside are your "regular restaurant" seating, but the back room has floor seating and couch seats with tables. When it's busy, it's busy but the workers are on it with multitasking and making sure everyone has what they ordered. 10/10 recommend if you're in the area!

Yelp
LOVE this place. Order at the counter & then get comfy! The choices of tea are endless and the employees are very patient helping you navigate them. The little area where you can take your shoes off and sit on the floor to drink your tea is our favorite. It feels so authentic to the experience. We ordered: GABA oolong, masala chai, vegan raspberry chocolate mousse, baklava, and Lebanon pita. All were delicious and reorderable except the pita, as there was very little za'atar spice so we felt it lacked flavor. I'd like to emphasis how incredible the mousse was. Drink tea, chat, play cards, study, work remotely.... Dobra is the perfect spot!

Yelp
Dobra Tea is a delightful spot for tea lovers and newcomers alike. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, making it easy to explore their wide range of teas from around the world. I had their Hotcha Matcha and enjoyed it. It's a cozy and welcoming place to enjoy a unique tea experience.

Yelp
Its okay, its summer i get it. But i expected the ac is on in here, but it said on the door the door will always be open during business hours. Boba is good, their foods are also good. The chair is uncomfortable, i stayed for about 2-3 hours. Staffs are kinda friendly? Overall, i would come back in winter so its cold time.

Yelp
Great tea, food, and atmosphere! HUGE tea selection. With a whole book to read all about them. If you were here alone you could nerd out so hard. I enjoyed both the chai I got and the jasmine pearls, but thought the chai could have been a little spicier. The tea is served in super cute tea pots. Great esthetic. Although my milk pitcher, while cute, was actually not great at pouring. Good food too. I really enjoyed the dolmas and the hummus plate I got. Both were nice and fresh. Really cozy inviting atmosphere. They also have an area to seat your self on cushions at low tables which my 5 year old LOVED (and I also enjoyed). One thing that was a little weird was that there are bells on the tables that you ring for service. It just felt to me kinda like I was ringing for a servant or something which was weird - but I guess it's just their system (my daughter on the other hand loved the bells).

Yelp
Nice change from most regular coffee and tea shops. The yummy, earthy tea came in a super cool tea pot, and lots of it! Full of flavor, very robust! The service was very slow, but we were not in a rush. While the seating is charming, the benches are not very comfortable.

Jane U.

Yelp
Exotic and laid back. Great selection of teas and wonderful food accompaniments - great ambiance too.

Robert W.

Yelp
Waiting 30 minutes for a pot of tea seems excessive. Service is exceedingly slow. Be prepared to wait. Still don't know about quality. Perhaps more later.

Yelp
We expected to be more impressed with Dobra Tea than was our actual result. I had to wait outside while my wife ordered for us, as I was carrying one of our puppers in a vest I was wearing (no biggie), so I was not privy to the exact details, but she reported that the girl taking our orders was not particularly friendly or helpful. She was said to have an aloof and rather unwelcoming demeanor, and that most questions were responded to with an air of impatience and mild annoyance. Compounding the experience, it took 20 minutes for our two raspberry black iced teas, and one hot Chai Masala tea to arrive. Our Goat Cheese and Tomato plate had already arrived, and been completely devoured, before they showed up, and the place wasn't particularly busy at the time. Still scratching my head on that one. The raspberry black iced teas were tasty, and I appreciated the light touch of sweetening, as most places tend to over-saccharine their brews. This ain't the deep south, people! No sweet tea here: Dobra done good on this point. No faults for the Chai Masala either, as it hit all the right notes of sweet and spice, and not over-steeped, which we expected, based on the time it took to arrive. There are things about the experience that could be improved here, but the end product is good. Not enough to make it a must-stop on a return trip to Ashland, but close enough to warrant at least mild curiosity the next time we're in the area.

Yelp
Used to be an amazing unique spot , went to counter service which totally ruins the experience. Unfortunately won't be back.

Yelp
Enjoyed so great teas and light fair in a great atmosphere, surrounded by a very large selection of teas. Highly recommend.

Yelp
One of my favorite tea houses to visit~ relaxing, comprehensive and intriguing menu of teas, drinks, and foods, beautiful atmosphere & wonderful/knowledgeable staff.

Yelp
I've been to Dobra so many times and love it. I've enjoyed many meetings here to enjoy their tea, and the delicious bowels. I love the ambiance, the peacefulness, I do laptop work there also. My favorite part is it's walking distance from the most beautiful large park called Lithia Park.
google avatar

Katrina V.

Yelp
I just had my first experience of Dobra Tea. I love it! There's a space with low tables and cushions that was super cozy for me and a few friends to sit and enjoy sipping on our hot drinks, and the chocolate coconut cookie and the lentil soup were both delicious and gluten-free. I'll definitely be back!

Tiffani R.

Yelp
Immediate no. Pretentious attitude and holier than thou snobbery oozes and drips from this space. Tied my 6 month old puppy outside and she started barking, so asked to bring her in. The person behind the counter was already pretty rude. She barked once because a kid came running at her and he was like "yea, no" It's 81F folks. No one is leaving their dog in the car, get some humanity and come back down to earth from your pretentious pedestal. As I cannot respond to the comment below. A child ran at my dog, and the dog barked once. The attitude upon arrival was already unfavorable and pretentious anyway, so I'm not surprised.

Yelp
Beautiful and relaxing- food and drinks were delicious. I got the iced matcha latte and loved it.

Yelp
Cute little tea house with a cozy ambience. My man and I shared a cup of the "at peace" herbal tea and a bowl of miso soup. Definitely recommend this spot on rainy days. Will be back to explore more of the menu!

Bob M.

Yelp
Great spot for a tea. I got a golden latte and it was delicious. Service was fast and friendly. We sat on pillows with the short table, but they have lots of other seating too. Fun!

Yelp
Dobra tea is one of my favorite places to eat in Ashland OR, it has a cute environment and delicious food. Probably one of my favorite things to order is the bubble tea, which is just prefect forany occasion! Dobra tea (for me) is not just about the food and tea. I've had lots of memories laughing and having fun with friends and family there. Dobra is really famous for its delicious food and it's Boba Tea. So many different flavors of tea, and many milk choices, even some lactose free! Many memories of "how many boba balls in one mouth full?" Someone got a record of 65 tapiocas balls! Another thing I love about Dobra is that the staff are always so friendly, helpful and don't mind you asking lots of questions. The location is another amazing part about the restaurant. People coming from both sides of town, or just passing through, can see Dobra and stop for a bite to eat or a tea. Dobra even has very nice outdoor seating and take out options. Also if your looking for a new gift for your family members birthday or a local friend Dobra has tea pots and cups of all shapes and sizes. Not to mention all the teas you can buy from a normal Chamomile to teas you don't even know like Dragonwell Green Tea?! They also help the environment by using (and selling) only stainless steel straws except for take out. And if your wondering about Covid-19 all employees are wearing masks and gloves, they disinfect everything after a persons use. Since we LOVE dobra we can't just go there and just observe and look at the menu we HAD to order something, so here is the review on the food we ordered. We first ordered Lavender Lemonade, and Lavender Black Iced Tea with Boba. Usually lavender overpowers but they managed to get the perfect balance of lavender and lemon, and lavender and black. Next we ordered a goat cheese and tomato plate. It had fresh local tomato's with Zaatar, an exotic spice, herb- garlic goat cheese which was very creamy and deliscious, Greek olives added a nice dash of saltiness, and also house made pita bread with a gluten free option of lavash. So all in all Dobra is a five star party in your mouth!

Yelp
Love love this place. Tea is made fresh in front of you. They don't mind weird orders (mostly exploding balls) and their shop pet is adorable and so sweet. One of the better offerings of downtown
google avatar

Premila M.

Yelp
A super cute place with amazing tea. Definitely stop by to sample their tea, they have a massive collection and great spot to sip and chat! The staff is super sweet!

Jayz P.

Yelp
Didn't know what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. The lady who helped was so nice and patient. The drinks we got, Thai tea, mango jasmine tea, and matcha dragon, were flipping delicious. It wasn't overly sweet and one can taste the flavors of the tea. Yes, as in tea leaves and not tea syrup. I highly suggest y'all check this place out.
google avatar

Cynthia W.

Yelp
Super cute tea shop, delicious teas, beautiful space. Had a great time here.

Liam S.

Yelp
I've always loved this place. Should probably acknowledge that I worked here years ago, and get the bias admission out of the way. They have the broadest selection of teas of anywhere that doesn't have a Dobra tea, in this country (maybe of anywhere in this country if you consider their pu'erh menu). And the teas are all pretty good quality!! (Like we are talking better than any other tea house I've been to in the states, in terms of leaf quality). The cookies are to die for, and they make some decent lunchy food, as well. Only complaint is the avocado egg toast keeps coming to my table with less and less egg on it. That was the one thing I could eat for a meal on their menu but now its more like a snack--a very delicious snack that leaves me craving for more... kinda genius actually

Yelp
Such a delightful, relaxing and cozy place! We stopped in Ashland on our way to Portland and we're soo glad we stopped into Dobrá Tea. We thought we would be in and out in two minutes but were pleasantly surprised that this was a true and full tea experience. The menu is almost overwhelming! There are so many different teas! I ended up getting a jasmine pearls tea and it was so delicious. The service was great but it was honestly all about the ambiance. After driving all day this was such a perfect place to relax and talk. I wish I would have gotten boba to go.
google avatar

Rh C.

Yelp
Mediocre bobas- tapioca pearls were still hard in the middle. Tea tasted ok but not worth finishing and certainly not worth the cost. Goat cheese and tomato plate was ok but the pita wasn't warmed. Ordered via Uber Eats and asked for utensils but no utensils found in the bag. I assume the restaurant checked the contents because they stapled it shut with their receipt pick up. It's hard to eat a salad without utensils! The person at the restaurant was not helpful and didn't offer any help or suggestions. Took the meal from my hotel to a coffee shop where the coffee shop staff provided me with utensils. Salad was tasty. Would not return or recommend.

Yelp
Dobra Tea is a funky lil cafe that really takes tea seriously. The atmosphere is roughly eastern-themed, with old tea sets nestled all around. There are three seating areas: the front is basic tables and chairs, the middle has a bench all around with small tables, and the back (behind beaded curtains) are cushions on the ground with low tables. Shoes need to be removed in the back. You seat yourself, and wait for a staff member to greet you. This seemed to be a weak spot in their service. I noticed that there was a table of girlfriends there before us, but because I managed to make eye contact, my husband and I were served first. We were given menus with an EXHAUSTIVE list of tea. Now, each description has some history of the tea, and what kind of leaves, but not reliably a description of the flavors. Seemed a little odd. Because of the lack of flavor notes, my husband didn't know how to choose a tea. I chose an oolong for him since they tend to be mild and easy, and I chose a lemon since that sounded really refreshing. Now, here's where Dobra shines. Their tea service was wonderful! Beautiful sets, refillable pots, and a great teamaster in the back, pouring. It was delicious! We really enjoyed sitting, sipping, and chatting. Very soothing. We bought some looseleaf tea for a very reasonable price on our way out. We'll be back!

Yelp
Wow, an experience in tea (and lite fare food)! Friendly, comfy, inviting. Highly recommended. Came in solo, sat in a corner wicker chair. I was greeted immediately by knowledgeable, friendly Beth. She explained the tea selection, and asked me to "ring the bell" when I was ready to order. Ordered Avocado egg toast, delicious! Tea; Jasmine pearl, tasty, my favorite. Stop in, thank me later!
google avatar

Aimee L.

Yelp
Tea selection is really lovely, and it's a really nice environment inside. The staff is always super lovely.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm a tea fan and this place has one of the best selections I have seen in my travels up and down the west coast. I love the warm friendly environment and the light fresh flavorful healthy food selections. This is a must stop when we are driving through Ashland. This time we had the Red lentil Dahl and the babaganosh platter. The vegan raspberry chocolate mouse was exquisite. I believe the best chocolate mouse I've ever had vegan or not.

Janelle P.

Yelp
We always love this place. I just wish there was more vegan and gluten-free free choices for the food and desserts. Drinks are always fantastic. They got boba!!!
google avatar

Brandon W.

Yelp
Wow, what a great little place! I've seen it packed many times as I've driven by but thought it was a tea place! Super delicious Mediterranean food - pita, hummus, local bowls, YUM sauce Glad we finally tried it delivered by Doordash. They missed an entree in our order but we ordered plenty or sides so we we didn't go hungry!

Oona K.

Yelp
The room is filled with the calming aroma of tea. The comfort of the room washes over me and brings a sense of community and joy. Besides the comfort of dobra their teas are delicious and well made and if I were you I would get a cookie.
google avatar

Heidi W.

Yelp
This tea shop is the best place to learn about and drink all different kinds of teas! I have been here a few times and always try to swing by when in town or even coming through OR. After you are seated you are given an extensive menu with explanations and descriptions of all the different kind of teas. The menu is separated by kinda of teas and you are given a small bell that you use when you are ready to order. The staff is helpful and the teas are fabulous! Iced or hot you cannot go wrong getting your favorite tea here. Pare it with their food choices for a nice afternoon alone or with friends. Tea for me is "Happy" so coming here anytime is a wonderful day!

Yelp
We have been in Ashland for years and had not frequented this restaurant and thus we went this past week to get a tea and a small plate - we entered and there were three other tables- two leaving shortly after our arrival about 7:45 or 8. We were greeted and asked to pick a table and ring the bell for questions. After 5 minutes we rang the bell but the server didn't respond so we waited and rang it again. She was standing behind the register three feet from us. We made eye contact and after a 5 more minute wait I asked her directly from my table how to order. now we have been there 15 minutes and there is one other table. She was indifferent, took our order and we sat for 10 more minutes. At this point we were both confused and frustrated and asked her about our order. She stated they had a very large to go order that one of the delivery drivers was there and everything was delayed. As a previous server for 10 years I expressed some understanding and asked if we could get our tea in the meantime.she stated it would be 15-20 minutes before getting the tea and about 30 minutes for my half green salad with boiled egg and my husband's hummus with vegetables. At this point it was really clear our business was not a priority. We explained waiting 45 minutes in an empty restaurant for tea was not acceptable. We excused ourselves and the server (who really is not to blame here since she's alone there, young, and likely not paid sufficient money to take on the responsibilities of ensuring everything comes together) muttered a sorry and we left. I would not come back.
google avatar

Sophia W.

Yelp
Their wait time is just too long! There was barely anyone there and like 5 people working and my boba tea took forever! Are they meditating while making it!? Definitely a little frustrating. The tea was super bland and the boba sat like a rock in my stomach and, which the boba from Matcha Boba House down the street doesn't. If you want boba, I'd go elsewhere! Dobra is just not my place.

J R.

Yelp
Waited 30 minutes for a chai and left with nothing, total disorganized messed and poor service. Will be disputing the charge, didn't want to wait another 10 minutes to be ignored.
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
This is a funky space with an eclectic vibe. Dozens of tea selections and elixirs and tasty grain bowls and sweets served while you're lounging on cushions makes you feel like you are in hippie heaven. One of my favorite spots to eat, drink, or just kick back in Ashland.
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
They use very fresh and healthy ingredients. It feels like you are treating your body by feeding it so many nourishing things! The best part is the food is not only nutritious but delicious!

Emily H.

Yelp
The best dahl soup in Ashland. By a long shot. I'll say it. Honestly though, all of the food at Dobra is really lovely and seems high quality. Frankly, I don't trust a lot of other restaurants (especially with dahl...) but this place delivers. I feel good after eating here. The atmosphere is charming. The service is sweet. The tea is yummy. I just... have a very soft spot for Dobra in my heart. Thank you for existing and delivering the goods.

Timothy H.

Yelp
Dobra Teas in Ashland took me by surprise. I am just getting into pu'eh teas and went in to "just see what they have"- WOW- not only do they have a large selection of teas, the teas that I tried ( 6 different ones) were of some of the best quality too! Staff was VERY well informed about their teas & super helpful I was not able to sit down and partake of the teas and foodstuffs but will make it a point to try next time. Definately recommend this establishment for both beginners and seasoned tea drinkers.
google avatar

Cleo B.

Yelp
I have been meaning to go to this place for years! Such a positive surprise. Four of us were able to have dinner there before the theater, along with a multitude of beverages. It's not just hot tea people! Each of us had a "bowl". One got "The Indian lentil bowl". The other three bowls consisted of rice with various vegetables and a particular sauce. The "locals bowl" had addition to rice, beans. On top was shredded cheese and avocado, along with sour cream and cilantro. Two of us had the "harmony bowl", with tamari-marinated tempeh, steamed kale, broccoli, avocado, tomato, toasted sesame seeds, and a tahini sauce. This was so good that when we got back from our Ashland visit, I had to re-create the harmony bowl. Wow. Textures and flavors doing something healthy and refreshing and tasty. One person had a special interesting hot chocolate! I had an herbal "Shakespeare's" tea, a combination of various delicate flavors. One person had a green tea that took instructions to repaired. The fourth person and a cold beverage. Something for everyone. The team menu is thicker than the food menu- - It's a whole book! Unique place something for everyone if you like a vegetarian light food option and a serene atmosphere. The service couldn't of been more friendly, warm, and just plain lovely. It's like you're entering another dimension. And I don't mean that in a fluffy, hippie sort of way. Beautiful atmosphere, comfortable. It's rather quiet in there, but not too quietto talk.

Yelp
Went here for the boba tea. First time showed up at opening. The boba wouldn't be ready for another 20 minutes. We left. Went back the following week. The boba didn't agree with my daughters stomach--which could be a personal thing. I don't think anything was "bad". She only consumed a few sips and pearls and threw it out. I tried the forest dragon iced. There was no ice. It was a cool temp and ok taste. For the cost I really am not impressed and don't see going back.

Paige M.

Yelp
Amazing and healthy vegan food! We've been here twice and loved it both times. Definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

Ashley H.

Yelp
This place is wonderful and unique. They have an amazing book of teas and tonic's. So don't be mistaken thinking that this is a fast food place because they make everything from scratch. So do yourself a favor and ignore the negative less than five star reviews and experience this great place in Ashland.

Elika H.

Yelp
My friends and I came here for a quick drink before a prologue for a show at the Shakespeare festival. The ambiance is nice, and it seems like a good place to spend time relaxing or reading. However, our bubble tea drinks took around 40 minutes to prepare and serve. In our opinion, they were not worth the wait or $6 price tag--we've had much better for much less. We ended up being late to the prologue of our show after waiting for our drinks. Overall, the service was a major turn-off, and the drinks were mediocre, but if you have more time and enjoy the relaxing environment Dobra could be for you. Unfortunately, it was not for us.
