"It occupies a modern-style building that stands out due to its riverside location on the Douro and boasts an appealing terrace overlooking the water. This venue combines a superb setting with a cuisine that needs no introduction, since the menu is by the renowned Chef Rui Paula. Here, the chef offers a style of cooking that reflects his Trás-os-Montes roots, drawing on past memories and fused with products from the riverside, delivering intense, surprising flavours. The à la carte offering is supplemented by three tasting menus and a vegetarian section. To round out the experience, there is an extensive wine selection — well worth a look!" - Michelin Inspector
In-Depth Review of a Villa Airbnb in Portugal’s Douro Valley - AFAR
"A local restaurant run by chef Rui Paula that provides an upscale dining option in the area; the chef’s other nearby establishment holds two Michelin stars." - Nicholas DeRenzo
"D.O.C. is a restaurant in the Douro Valley known for providing one of the best dining experiences in the region, thanks to chef-owner Rui Paula. It serves exquisite dishes, such as perfectly pan-roasted grouper on a cake of crawfish meat poached in a flavorful fish-and-shrimp stock." - Ray Isle
In a pleasant space we enjoyed the restaurant's delicious dishes.
Excellent service, big wine list and all this at very reasonable prices.

It’s never disappointing coming here. The staff is wonderful and the food is always lovely. The only thing I’m not so fond of is the new bright lighting, for dinner, I prefer a softer ambiance. Still, for me, it remains the best restaurant in the Douro.

Incredible meal. The tasting menu is a must! Loved every moment - we also did the pairing. The service, food, and experience is worth it.

Incredible dinner! From the staff to the view to the ambiance, and of course the exquisite food. My husband and I had a wonderful time.
We decided to go al la carte but of course we wanted to share evening. The kitchen kindly split all of our meals and paced them out instead of bringing all together, which really enhanced our experience. Our server Felipe was so lovely and helped us select an excellent bottle of wine to pair with our meal. Our favorites were the pasta with cheese sauce and the apple dessert - both unique and surprising in their own way!
If you’re in the area I can’t recommend a meal here enough. There is parking onsite and outdoor seating.

We went to DOC for dinner to celebrate a special day and we couldnt have found a better place. It was supremely satisfying experience. The food was truly exceptional. The wine pairing was just perfect. The service was impeccable and the ambience was as romantic and intimate as one would want just by the water. The gastronomic explosion of the food created by Chef Rui Paula made our visit to the Douro valley completely worth the time. Would strongly recommend for everyone that finds joy in gastronomic delight, to visit - whether staying in the valley or Porto!

Small small portions, Sea Bass had zero taste was dry, Wagyu was $60 small chewy and over priced. All for Show like they are on TV. We left hungry, so make sure you eat plenty of bread and olives before THE MAIN COURSE arrives.

We were blown away by the attention to detail and quality of the food here! Every dish was packed with flavour and warmth which was perfect for a cold rainy day. The staff were also very knowledgeable about their wines and recommended a great white based on our preferences. Would recommend if you’re staying in the area!

Had lunch here with my wife. Decided not to have the tasting menu and had 3 courses instead. Service was very good. I had the scallops to start, they were cooked perfectly but very small. My wife had the foie gras which was very good. For main course I had the pork neck that was cooked exceptionally well. My wife had the fish that was cooked very well. For desert I had their take on a tiramisu. The look of it wasn't very appealing and it was a little strange to eat but it did taste very nice. My wife had the chocolate desert that she said was the best she had tried. In between courses we were served some palet cleansers. Overall a very good experience, the only downside was we felt a little rushed between the starters and mains.
