The Wharf InterContinental Is Finally Getting a Real Restaurant Again | Eater DC

"I found the current, year-old replacement in the space to be a fairly generic surf-and-turf spot serving as a temporary placeholder while the hotel lines up a new flagship concept." - Tierney Plumb

While doing my research on the restaurant at this pier I will be honest and say I over looked Dockside simply because it had less ratings than the other restaurants next door and upstairs. When we got here we decided to give this place a try because it was slightly more affordable. Let me just say my family and I were pleasantly surprised by the food and had an amazing time together as we sat at the window looking out in to the ocean. My son and husband had the fish and chips and his honest review is that the fried fish from his fish n chips plate was as better that (Mitches Sea Food) fish and chips plate. I was shocked when they said that because Mitches is such a popular and great seafood restaurant. I had the fish tacos and loved them! The dirty blonde gentleman at the bar who also happens to be the person you order with and also serves you provided AMAZING service. We wanted to try more food so he suggested the simple kids cheeseburger and an order of crispy onion rings with a spicy dip on the side . That was delicious too!!! I can’t say enough about this place. If you’re uncertain about the other more upscale restaurants give this place a try! You will not be disappointed! We will be back here every time we visit SD ❤️ visited 04/18/25

Google
Great vibe, good food - poké bowl and ceviche, and awesome view. The mocktail and Ketch Brewery Hazy IPA was on point too.

The food and service were miserable. We got tossed a rag to clean our table💀 the food was dry and tasteless. The fries were aight. The view is really beautiful.

Google
Great views of the harbor from everywhere in the restaurant, but especially from the patio dining area. Finely prepared cuisine at reasonable prices, yet you WILL be dropping a bit of cash with appetizers, drinks, entrees, and dessert.

Google
It’s a scam! I paid $10 for a ceviche that had 3 pieces of fish in it. The rest is just vegetables and super acid juice. There is no flavor to it and I really feel scammed.

We stopped for a bite to eat and to charge our phones behind the bar after the City Cruise and before visiting the Maritime Museum. The bartender was working hard -- letting me taste the beer, giving recommendations, describing portion sizes, taking orders, running the bar, making sure the dining area was safe (some regulars like moving the tables into the shade and he swiftly reminded them that the umbrellas move to create shade -- not the tables), bringing out orders, wiping down tables, checking on everyone... We were able to relax and enjoy clean bathrooms, a beautiful view, people watching, the Mahi taco, calamari, clam chowder, a beer, and ice water. We are generous toppers, so our total bill came to around $53 for everything. If you don't tip as generously as we do, your cost would be closer to to the $10-20/person. Cheers!

Google
Bar tender selected his own tip amount when I was paying with card. Who does that?! Especially since there’s no server, you have to order at the bar. Overall it’s a nice space but could use more plants and better furniture. Food is overpriced, but you’re paying to be close to the water.

Yelp
This is my third time here, and I really find it a nice replacement for Anthony's fisheye, which used to occupy the same spot. I had the fish and chips again, and was very happy. It was crispy and not dripping with grease. Very tasty! The chips were American style( not big honkers, but "fries", but they were crispy and salted to perfection. And for $21 not exorbitant. You can't beat the view, either. It's a 10 minute walk to the train station. They have a nice selection of beer. The bartender/ server was friendly and the service was quick. There are MANY more places on the Embarcadero that charge way more and don't deliver as much.

Yelp
Saw online that Ketch was CLOSED! Came downtown to see for myself and while Ketch is technically no longer the name of the restaurant, you can still go upstairs and order food. It's now called Dockside. The menu is almost identical to the Ketch menu minus a couple of things (octopus, etc). There is no hostess stand or need for reservations. In fact, you don't even need to order food. It's open to the public. You order at the check stand up front and they give you a number and deliver your food (so you can still tip for the service). Beer & cocktail menu is identical to the Ketch version but the drinks are served in plastic cups (not glass). Food is served in cardboard trays (not plates) and silverware is plastic. Food was still good though. My mother wanted a small plate, so she ordered the Kid's Fish & Chips ($10). Came to find out it's exactly the same as the main IPA Fish & Chips ($22) but with two fish vs. three. So, next time I'm just getting the kid's plate too. Happy hour is from 2-5pm DAILY. I still think this is a great place to come soak up some views and a have a great beer.

Yelp
We stopped in unexpectedly and ordered some beers along with the calamari. While the calamari itself tasted fresh (not frozen), the seasoning was lacking in flavor, and the white sauce that came with it didn't add much. That said, the atmosphere and view here are fantastic, making it a great spot to check out and enjoy a drink.

Yelp
Great snack for a lazy Sunday walk by the bay! The food was great - hot and fresh! The service was great!

Yelp
Amazing ambience, great views of the harbor. The food was great and a good value; I've brought friends multiple times now. You order from the app or online, and pick it up at the counter. Fantastic value!

Yelp
RIP KETCH. This new spot is lazy. The food is meh and everything you get is in to go cardboard plates. Miss the old concept. This feels cheap. What a waste

Yelp
Our team of 50+ recently gathered at Brigantine on Portside Pier, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The buffet spread impressed everyone-- fresh foods, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. Combined with well-stocked beverage stations and service, it offered outstanding value and quality. We were seated in the spacious outdoor area, complete with warm patio heaters. The space felt bright, open, and comfortable--allowing us to enjoy without worrying about the chill. It echoed the vibrant waterfront ambiance that many guests rave about. The service team was stellar. Attentive and prompt, they handled our numerous requests--extra seating, buffet replenishments, refills, special accommodations--with ease and attentive smiling professionalism. It truly felt like everyone was part of the Brigantine family, as emphasized by many other diners. Between the delectable buffet, inviting atmosphere, and top‑tier service, Brigantine at Portside Pier delivered an experience we'll be talking about--and returning for. Warm praise all around!

Yelp
RIP KETCH.... came on the first day this converted to "Dockside" before it was called Ketch (on the upper floor).. Food portions were very well served, however... the food is served in "to go" boxes regardless of dining in or out.. yikes. Maybe this won't bother many, but for my environmental homies, you'll be pissed off. SO SO MUCH "to go" waste... drinks (wine too) served in plastic cups, all food in boxes, and plastic utensils too despite dining innnn . It just felt unpleasant for a dine in experience that's not really take out food. Bring back original Ketch!!!!

Yelp
Pretty decent spot for lunch or a drink. After walking the marina we made a stop for a beer. Love the Cristal dome with a sea view. Bartender was super helpful. Definitely a great place to hangout after a walk.

Yelp
I come here to enjoy their Fish and Chips every time I visit San Diego. The battered cod is fried perfectly, it's fresh, tasty and the portion is humongous. It was great to see a group of US Coast Guard enjoying their lunch here. My husband had the seafood combo and he enjoyed it immensely. Make sure you stop by this unique Seafood Counter, when you're in the area!!!

Yelp
View was beautiful, food was tasty. You have to order /pay for your food first and self seat which wasn't an issue for us.

Yelp
The food was decent. I was there for less than an hour and saw three dogs in the establishment. Be ready to eat on tables where dogs have put their paws that they walk on the dirty street on without the table being wiped down. Yes I watched this happen and the person did not correct them. Yet Another establishment in San Diego that seems to not care about hygiene. Gross. But once again, food was decent.
