Tony and I hit "Doc's Bar" as his 5th place on Bar Crawl...it's been in business since 1948! Like the previous places dark with the only natural light coming through the door and front windows! Tony got his usual PBR and I got a sprite w lemon & lime it was $5 plus a dollar tip Bar was packed! We had to sit at a table! Definitely recommend and Definitely going back

We stopped into Doc’s Bar for the first time because we’d heard the food was good and wanted to check it out. We came in at a very slow time in the middle of the day so perhaps staff was short? I’m sure this is a fun place in the evenings. We ordered a soda and one other drink but my drink was wrong and we never received a food menu (maybe they don’t have one perhaps) so we ended up just finishing our drinks and heading out. The vibe seemed fun and casual, and we were really looking forward to trying the food. Hopefully, this was just an off day. Thank you for your time.

Google
Great small bar with a local clientele. If your are visiting during the off season, definitely drop in here for a drink. My only criticism is that a couple of local beer offerings would be nice.

Google
The owner is really nice and helpful, I had a great time there! Highly Recommended.

Google
A dive bar at its finest since 1948. We showed up at 11:00 a.m. our bartender Bama was hilarious. This is the place to go. And you can smoke in the bar!!!! Cigarettes or cigars. Very happy.

Google
I'm a sucker for a dive bar!!! And this place did not disappoint; even the food was delicious. Joy and Bill were super awesome and we had a blast celebrating my birthday. Will definitely stop in if we're ever in the area again.

Looking for the perfect dive bar.. look no farther! Locals and tourists alike hang out here. Oh, and tell your favorite bartender Bama that Bama says Hi!!

Google
Stopped at this hole in the wall for a couple of drinks and a quick bite. I don’t know whether it was the super-fun-but-tacky Xmas decorations or the promise of people smoking indoors while we ate, but we had to give this bar a shot. Burgers were way overpriced at $15 so we shared some sub-par nachos instead (think canned chili and cheese whiz). Bartender was more interested in the football game than with the 5 customers at the bar, but did get very excited when asked about weekly Jeopardy. I think I would have had a better experience had we come at night just for drinks (hold the nachos) when we could have interacted with other bar patrons. Not writing this place off just yet…

Yelp
Something about this place I love. Although my spicy chicken sandwich was average - the fries were excellent. Super crispy - overall the food did its job. The divey vibes were splendid - super approachable bar right on the main strip. Bottles only - nothing on draft

Yelp
This was one of the best stops of our week on Tybee. Not trendy, no fancy cocktails, just a real down home bar with two dart boards (and darts), bumperpool table, outstanding juke box and occasional live music Bama, our bartender, was aces .... tho I don't think he truly appreciates condiments like salt n pepa. LOL

Marilee R.

Yelp
Had such a great time spending the afternoon at Doc's Bar! BAMA - our bartender - was outstanding! Great guy, had us laughing all afternoon. We will most definitely be back!

Stephen W.

Yelp
Got a double jack and coke here before the ghost tour, it was super strong. Quick solid bang for the buck if you are just stopping by!

Jack M.

Yelp
It's just a bar. If you want to go to a bar that's just a bar. Go to Doc's. You will enjoy it. We had a bar tender named Bamma. He was great. But, no tap.

Ken M.

Yelp
Bumper pool champions 2011. Doc's is a legendary Tybee hangout. Classic dive bar ambiance. If you want to experience Tybee like the locals, you'll go to Doc's.

JD M.

Yelp
Bar tender wouldn't take a damaged car from my handicapped roommate. He had another one and I was a little too excited and set it down a too hard for him and he spared out and was a total jerk!... so me and my roommate with MS who is legally blind had to walk down a ways to get a burger and fries. BOO THIS MAN! bald white guy! Don't pay this jerk... way better bars! Boycott this place!

Yelp
Doc's Bar was the highlight of my night in Tybee Island. Doc's is the oldest bar on the island established in 1948. It is absolutely a dive, but the bar was clean and the service was great! What I loved the most about Doc's were the jello shots. I saw a sign outside advertising $2, jello shots and that's what brought me through the front door. Some regulars quickly started chatting with me and made me feel right at home. One regular told me there was a good band playing that night and that I should come back and check it out. My niece and I visited several other bars near the beach that night, but we came back to Doc's several times for more jello shots LOL. And the regular was right, the band was awesome! Back to the jello shots. My niece and I quickly realized jello shots are a thing in Tybee Island. All of the local bars sell jello shots. We tried them in one other bar as they were giving everyone a free one when you came in the door. But no one could top Doc's! My favorites were the pineapple and lime! You must try them! Doc's does not sell food but they will give you some trail mix if you ask. And the regulars told me you can bring food in and eat it as they don't mind.

Yelp
Typical friendly dive bar, good drinks fast service. Their drink price did go up Labor Day weekend evening... maybe it was happy hour when we were in earlier.

Rob O.

Yelp
Just do it...great burger, fun staff....enjoy Glad we went in ...beer very cold!! Burgers were huge
google avatar

Brandie R.

Yelp
Fun little spot. Bartender named Bama was great. Close to the beach. 2$ Jell-O shots which aren't our thing but lots of people seemed to enjoy
google avatar

Bobby W.

Yelp
Nice bar very mismanaged. St Patrick Day weekend. 1 bartender. Bless her heart but it's way faster to go across the street and get drinks than to stand in the line here.
google avatar

James W.

Yelp
Small venue which is one reason that this place is great. Easy to make new friends here! And to catch up with old friends. The bartenders are great... the rush was great after the Tybee St Patick's day parade, but the bartends kept the drinks and the tabs flowing. I've never seen such great organization at a bar muchless a small bar with masses of people. Mike the bartender even took a half minute to stop and say hello to me. Some patrons did give them attitude demanding their drinks or bills but they continueed to keep great attitudes and serve up the liquor and hand out the checks. Also, they have a back deck and they have had a float in almost every parade that I've been to see on Tybee. Yay Doc's Bar!
google avatar

Kaile T.

Yelp
Best dive bar on Tybee. Jennifer is everything! She is so personable and a hard worker! Love this place! Wine is poured high and beer is served ice cold! Thanks Jennifer!!

C J.

Yelp
Love this place! But the smoke is hard to take. Before smoking was outlawed in the rest of Savannah bars, I used to spend a lot of time here. Recently I went there and left quickly because people were smoking cigars.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Doc's Bar is always a good time. It's a small bar that can get really packed out at times. I enjoy grabbing a few drinks here during the afternoon and listening to stories some of the old guys tell. Service has always been excellent and friendly here.

Yelp
Tybee Island, Georgia --- since 1948 "Doc's" (older than "Run-A-Way Bill" ) ... "Doc's" can be seen in "Dirty Grandpa" ... not the least expensive place, but a "MUST" when in Tybee bartender Mike "Run-A-Way Bill" was here! day 065 "666 Bars of 2017" / bar 102 day 012 "DUSA 2017" (Discover USA) #RunAwayBill #666BarsUSA #DUSA2017 03.06.17

Yelp
Awesome dive bar & the oldest bar on the island being established in 1948. Our bartender Nick was on point. Very friendly & attentive. Cold beer.
google avatar

Kristie A.

Yelp
Doc's is the oldest bar on Tybee Island. They just celebrated their 60th anniversary in fact. It's a dive bar by every meaning of the term. The drinks were cheap, the locals were friendly. One guy bought the whole bar a round of shots (granted there were only about 7 people there at that point, but still). Want to take your drink to go?? Just ask for a plastic cup, and they'll send you on your way. Who knew it's legal to drink on the streets?? Just don't drink in your car from what I hear. That's a no no. Again, I think a place where you find the locals of the town is definitely a place to check out.

Yelp
We came over from Savannah for dinner and stumbled across Doc's after we ate (they do not serve food). It's everything a dive bar should be. Bartenders were on point, as soon as a drink was empty you have another in your hand. Drinks were good and cheap. They had a good band playing, and the regulars were dancing and having a great time. We will come back again.

Dawn B.

Yelp
My group stopped in here on a weekday afternoon after walking around the beach all day. It was fairly empty at that hour but our bartender Anna (hope I spelled that right) chatted with us and gave us some fantastic recommendations for the rest of our stay in the Savannah area. We ended up hanging out for a while and having jell-o shots. If you like dive bars, this is your spot.

Yelp
Walked in to Doc's bar. Five of us ladies. Must've been about six people in the bar. Sat down at a table. No response, no hello, no nothing. As we sat there wondering if we should go to the bar the bartender did not offer any acknowledgment that we were there. We were only about 12 feet from the bar. Sat for about five minutes with no acknowledgement and left. Will never go back again. Lost at least $50 for 30 minutes.

Yelp
After hanging out at Nickie's 1971 and listening to pop/country Karaoke, we wanted a change and headed over to Docs. It was pretty dead but we didn't care. Just wanted some stiff drinks and good conversation with each other. But who knew we would end up chatting with Willie Wonka, his 'sparse-tooth' girlfriend and her cousin....a young Anthony Michael Hall who claimed he was just released from prison. Very interesting to say the least! Want some strong drinks, dive bar atmosphere and colorful conversation, head to Doc's.

Kahla B.

Yelp
Nice "hole in the wall." Amazing bartenders. We loved the live music and the chill atmosphere!

Nancy B.

Yelp
Super divey and fun! Our server was friendly and wonderful and her food recommendation was spot on; good bar food.

Kevin H.

Yelp
Been here twice. The most missable negative bartenders I've ever encountered. Will never come back.

Anita G.

Yelp
10/10 recommend Anna and her rum punch recipe! She was absolutely amazing- welcoming, attentive, conversational. She's an asset for sure!
google avatar

Liz V.

Yelp
Where do I begin? Cheap drinks, loud music and a place where everyone knows your name. This place owns stock in red cups and thankfully Tybee doesn't mind if you carry a cup of happiness out the door as you go. When I go home I am often in here trying one of the many beers on tap, talking smack about my awesome pool game (no, not really) and placing bets on Georgia football. Thank you for being my version of Cheers, Docs. Bonus: the bartenders will hold your hair. Just don't tell them I said so!!
google avatar

Staci K.

Yelp
Best $2 Jell-O shots in Tybee, (we tried them all) they very strong and tasty! Great bartender who made delicious drinks! They have live music at night.

Mike M.

Yelp
Great spot! Friendly crowd, excellent live music, bumper pool and cheap cold beer served by a real lro. Glad we found this gem!
google avatar

Jay N.

Yelp
I'll give this place 5 stars just because I love this kind of bar. Nice people, cheap booze and bumper pool! Hung out here in the off season and t'was very pleasant. Definitely coming back.
google avatar

Princess L.

Yelp
First time here and it's perfect. Divey, beachy, dark, breezy, local, smokey, friendly bar staff and a great pour. Wish I was staying closer because this would be my "go to" place for sure!!
google avatar

Lori H.

Yelp
We love Doc's and can't wait to return to Tybee. The staff and customers are a lot of fun. We were there for open mic music in the back room and also for Karaoke. A great time was had by all!
google avatar

Jan U.

Yelp
Been spending February on beautiful Tybee Island for 4 years. One of the best parts of our month is the Tuesday night jam at Doc's bar. Locals and visitors pull up a bar stool, order a beer and bust out beautiful music. Can't play? No problem. Just sing along. Prices are good. Bartender, Mike is easy going and fun. A great time!
google avatar

Ashley F.

Yelp
Nice bar, nice drinks, nice band, people dancing, smoking still allowed - which although i'm not a smoker i appreciated the ashtrays on the bar and the atmosphere created by a smoky conversation- It was a nice walk back to our cottage

Dan G.

Yelp
Great local bar. Friendly people good bar tenders. For those of you from non-smoking states, you will love this place! You can actually smoke inside or sit on the bench out front and drink. Love you guys!!!
google avatar

Chip P.

Yelp
Ok I have to tell you some really good stories about this place. No, wait....I could be killed. Just go. Once you walk in (if your a Yankee or a city dweller) you might be tempted to walk out.BUT DON'T! First there is a chance you will meet the lovely Ms. Stone. Then there are Tybee folk most of whom you will fall in love with. So order a drink (PBR in the can) so you'll fit in.
google avatar

Teryn B.

Yelp
Dancing is fun, owners are sweet, air is smoky, funky and fun. A beach classic!
google avatar

Glenn L.

Yelp
Walked in and right back out. Bar was smokey and uninviting. I was there during the day so maybe the evening is better. The AC was cold so I gave 2 stars.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
What a classic old school beach dive bar!! Smokey, full of locals, been there for ever, bartender pours real drinks, ice cold beer, what's not to love about Doc's Bar?
google avatar

Bob C.

Yelp
We love Doc's! This is a dive bar and we love dive bars! Drinks are generously poured! Bartender was friendly. Bumper pool anyone? We will never go to Tybee without a stop at Doc's!, Don't miss the chance to check Doc's out! If you do not like bars with smoking allowed, do not go to Doc's. I understand that some folks do not like smoking. To those folks, I advise...avoid smoking bars! It is ridiculous to dislike smoking and then go to a smoking bar anyway, only to write a bad review because of the smoke!

tybeesherri s.

Yelp
Doc's Bar is the "center of the universe." It is a neighborhood dive with great music and food. The local regulars and the staff can be quirky, but they are usually friendly. If you don't have a date, you can dance with your friends and nobody cares. All ages come to Doc's and it's common to see 20-somethings with their parents and even their grandparents having a blast. If you're lucky, Mike will be cooking and you can have some awesome food. Everything is very good!

Mike G.

Yelp
I'm a fan of a dive and I'm a fan of Doc's. You can spend your entire day and night here or hit it up while bar-hopping. Keep in mind that their typical clientele is the retired (or soon-to-be) so your not usually going to see the same beach bodies on the inside as you just did on the beach.

Venessa C.

Yelp
Celebrated with a friend over New Years, we had a blast. Great locals hangout. Bartender was awesome and she worked her butt off even on her birthday. We closed um down two nights in a row. Can't wait to go back. Hopefully soon.

J B.

Yelp
Docs is a tybee establishment. Its usually an old folks hangout but the live music is pretty good at times and i find myself there talking to cougars. The bumper pool table is cool too

Bob N.

Yelp
I have been spending Jan and Feb for the past 3 years on Tybee and Doc's is one of the main reasons. Mike is a tremendous bartender and I hope they get to return to serving food. Last Feb. was the first crab race I have ever seen! I always bring my guests here when I have out of state company. Looking forward to New Year's Eve! Bob in Stow, Ohio
