Google
Came in right after work, 5-7pm and the place was nice and calming environment. The staff was really cheery and happy. My coworkers and i ordered some food and even tho we sat on the rooftop, the food came out delicious and hot. Will have to return to try more menu items.

Google
As a caterer that deserves an occasional break from baking and preparing Creole and Cajun cuisine, I can always count on Dodie’s to make me feel like I’m back home New Orleans. From there Charbroiled Oysters to the Pasta Monica, I am never disappointed. With two locations (On Greenville and on Lake Ray Hubbard) and both equally delicious, add awesome staff on top for a sweet southern kiss of kindness, I will continue to going back every chance I get.

First time visiting Rockwall, TX. B-E-A-U-tiful scenery! Thank you Taylor B for making my experience amazing! Food is great, highly recommended for their seafood!

Andres Ugalde

Google
Fernanda is the best! She has a great smile and is gorgeous, serves a mean old fashion so if you’re in town ask for her and leave her a big tip, she is the best. Alex is amazing, has a great smile and is ambitious… also you have to ask Eric to smoke on his patio, bar rules. 😉

Google
Absolutely loved their food! I wish I lived here so I could eat it more often! Great atmosphere, wonderful service, and the Crawfish is absolutely delicious! 10/10 recommend. Also I wouldn't pay too much mind to the negative reviews because people love to complain about anything.

Google
The food was great tasting and the service is prompt. I used to go there in the past and the bourbon glazed salmon is one dish that never dissappoints. Also the cajun wings taste amazing. Their drinks are ok, not great but decent and fairly priced. Be aware of the change in menu, the old menu is still available on google, to get to the current one, have to get on their website. A lot of the old dishes like fried calamari or the seared ahi tuna are not included anymore.

I walked in and had on sweats and a cap... I said it was my 1st time there and didn't receive anything about what might be great on the menu... The only waitress looked at me as if I was foreign. She made no conversation with me, but did with other guests. The food was amazing!! But I am a first timer and enjoy the full dining experience no matter what I had on and I felt rushed by the bartender. The service sucked and they didn't even ask me to return or have a nice day for that matter. I went Sunday afternoon.

Google
Dined here yesterday. The calamari was amazing. However, the service by our waitress Taylor was the worst we have ever had. She took our order and then maybe came back 2x close to the end of dinner. Didn’t refill our drinks, had to go find someone to get us napkins, refills, garlic butter, etc. She didn’t bring our food. My plate of crawfish had dry seasoning, no garlic butter, 2 potatoes, etc. Definitely not what it used to be. The other plate of food we ordered was not hot.. lukewarm at best, very dry, tiny amount of sides, hardly any crawfish. Will not be back and numerous others felt the service by the waiting staff was HORRIBLE. Not worth $118.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids that shared a kids meal.

Yelp
If you're in the mood for some Lower Greenville vibes, Dodies's is fun. This cajun sports bar makes for a memorable drinking setting. Beer and gumbo? Yes, without equivocation. Oysters Rockefeller too, if they're your thing. An aside, wish the old Grape was still across the street. That was my absolute favorite restaurant in Dallas.
google avatar

CeCee S.

Yelp
A sports bar with a cajun inspired menu. There are 3 levels. Outside patio and inside bar with booths and tables. 2nd floor has high tables and chairs. The next level is the roof. Big screens everywhere with the important teams on. The service was lively and friendly. Talented bartenders made anything we wanted. I was very comfortable and could have stayed a lot longer if I didn't have plans. Take a friend and catch the game!
google avatar

Yelp
The food is not good. Went there for a quick bite and for the price of everything it was not worth it. Beer wasn't cold. A ranch water is $15. The crawfish in my pasta tasted old. And they automatically added 20% tip to my bill for a a table for 2. I'm not saying i don't tip that much but for them to add it on without telling me and it's only a party of 2 come on.

Yelp
How does this place have anything less than 4 or 5 stars. My experience was superb. My food and service were both great. It's for sure not a fancy place. Which leads me to my next deiscussiom. I'm kind of conflicted because place has a serious sports bar vibe. Yet their food says otherwise. I'm not mad or anything, but maybe that explains the rating. Don't let that shy you away from the food. So I had to ask the waitress, what's the deal. What makes people wanna give them bad reviews. And it all makes sense. They are so cool they pack out the place during events and etc. From my experience, trying to please party people can get tricky and intense
google avatar

Dez V.

Yelp
Food is phenomenal! So good and flavorful. My favorite are the dodie oysters. It's a must a get them at least once a week. My friend had the blackened seafood nachos. They were piled with meat and delicious. Spinach and artichoke dip very tasty. Service is okay. Ambiance is good. Wish they would cover the hot sauces though! Most of them don't have lids. Love this place

Yelp
Was not greeted by a server for 10 minutes. Only when the hostess stopped by and ask if I was helped did they show up. Order the Taste of New Orleans. The E'touffete was inedible. The shrimp or crawfish was rubbery and fishy. The old rice on top was crackling hard because it was either microwaved or sitting under a heat lamp all night. The rest of the dish was okay. But you could only make out Tabasco and black pepper for a taste profile. Which seems like a poor representation of NOLA. The dish was spicy and I wished I had water to cool down my tongue cause the server was nowhere to be seen and never refilled my water. Times like that, I wished I carried cash. So I could pay and leave asap. But instead i had to wait 15 minutes to ask another server for my check. Outside area ground was dirty and littered. At least the weather was nice

Yelp
Great food and great service. We went on a football Sunday evening to watch the game and got the pasta with shrimp and the blackened redfish meal and it was DELICIOUS. also service tonight was amazing from start to finish. We will be back! :)

Yelp
What a great time! We met Eric, the owner as of a year and a half ago, one night and had a great time so we came back the next night with the whole family for dinner. You can tell he's put a lot of work into the place. They were very attentive and checked on us regularly and easily moved two tables together for the eight of us. We ordered a ton of food but didn't take enough pictures (still new to the yelp game). The deviled eggs, fried alligator, and blooming onion were our appetizers and we loved them all. Our favorite dishes were the burger, pork chops (pictured), jambalaya, and catfish po boy. The Cajun fries have perfect seasoning. Music is fun, TONS of TVs, and near a bunch of other bars for hopping afterwards. Definitely would come back if in Dallas again.

Yelp
Energy was Great Good was perfect will definitely be coming again with friends The music an vibe was definitely Interesting apart service was fast and the waiters where polite
google avatar

Tim S.

Yelp
Sales Rep brought in lunch from Dodie's Reef. How in the world does a Creole/ Cajun restaurant screw up a damn PO' BOY so badly?! By serving it with no dressing. Well, I guess a little old, wilty lettuce is an attempt at dressing (see pics). Terrible job, Dodie's!
google avatar

Florence A.

Yelp
Oysters were 7/10. Very disappointed that they didn't have any happy hour specials. Even $1 off would draw in a crowd.

Paul D.

Yelp
Dodies, by far best patio rooftop restaurant in dallas. From parking to service was exceptional. My wife and I had the pleasure to meet the owner Eric. Who from other patrons is on site daily, and takes time to appreciate his clientelle. We were fortunate to have Eric sit at our table, "for only a minute, " and felt as if we were family in his establishment. Reccomend to anyone who loves a at home, phenominal meal and experience with a cajun appeal.

Yelp
So went to this place for dinner a few nights ago. Place was not busy at all location had 2 bartenders I think and 3 maybe 4 servers for all of maybe 20 or 30 guests at around 10:30pm. Location was nice and clean sat at a table for about 15min. The busboy older Hispanic gentleman came by and brought us waters and menus. Still no server came by about 5min later I walked up to a server that had just rang up a table and asked for assistance. Servers looked lost or ready to go home. Finally got the server to come and ordered a regular burger with Cajun fries. About 10 or 15min later the food came out and server didn't even bring napkins smh burgers was good nothing to blow my mind and fries were hot and tasty. Service was bad to say the least. Server came back to table maybe once and then had to go hunt the server down to pay bill. Got more attention from the bus boy asking if we had our order taken and bussing the dishes. Place is not bad and the food is decent but service maybe I just went on a bad night but Damn it was bad. Service 1 outa 10 Burger solid 5 outa 10 it was tasty Fries 5 outa 10 hot and seasoned great Location 7 outa 10 clean and nice Busboy 8 outa 10 guy was running all over the place workin his ass off All in all its not a bad place wish I would have taken a pic of the burger but forgot Paid about 19 bucks left a few dollars tip regardless of the service should have given it straight to the busboy

Yelp
Sitting out on their patio seemed to be an excellent until a smoking man exhaled in front of a huge fan blowing his secondhand smoke in my face whilst I was eating my meal. Come on, Dallas, and Dodie's, do better!!! Eating establishments should be NON-smoking. NOTE: there was another on-smoking couple out there too. We outnumbered the smoker....Concession: our server, Shell, the 10-year establishment vet, offered us six oysters "for our inconvenience." We can enjoy a beer anywhere. We choose the neighborhood places because we can walk to them and we love supporting the area. When smokers ruin my patio evening, I share so other non-smokers can walk to the next restaurant!! The oysters were okay, not great.

Yelp
The people are fun. And the atmosphere for a game is good Drinks abs food for 2. 125 coconuts

Yelp
Red Fish, Yaya Gumbo, Fried Seafood platters are ! Favorite place to watch sports in D. Drinks are , service is friendly and professional. Super laid back , patio and rooftop are the best. Go to spot for Cajun and Cocktail's. Best spot on lower Greenville by far. Hidden Gem. I'm a cowboys fan, and the LSU alumni and Saints fans are always fun. New owner and manager are the best! Nice breath of fresh air in Dallas finally, everyone is having a good time. No pretentiousness, straight to the point. Hurricanes are the best in the summer. Wings, salads, Chex quesadillas and seafood nachos are also on my favorites list.

Eric S.

Yelp
Great food, great service, great ambiance!!!! The server Melissa was exceptional and the Cajun deviled eggs were amazing!

Shane A.

Yelp
Really disappointing. We started with appetizers. Pretzel was probably from Sam's Club and heated in the microwave. Cheese was lukewarm cheese whiz. Peel and eat shrimp were overcooked about 2 hours earlier. A pair of pliers would have made peeling them easier. Lunch was Blackened Redfish with dirty rice. Fish was good but rice was left over from lunch. Wife and daughter had a pasta dish with crawfish and shrimp. Better but not great. They didn't finish and didn't want a box to go. Bright spot was the Shiner Bach in a frosted glass. Probably won't be back, I'll head down the road to Charlie's for Cajun!

Yelp
So I didn't really get to enjoy too much of this experience at Dodies because of the riots and all the insanity happening in Dallas right now, but what I did get to participate in was lovely! This is a cute spot. Kind of a bar vibe but with a great menu. My girlfriend and I have been scouring Dallas for the best crawfish, and I swear we have had so much trouble! These were the best ones we've had yet. They are still doing everything disposable from menus to plates/silverware/cups which is cool for safety if not a little uncomfortable when eating. It panned out for us perfectly because we had to take our food and run due to protests. Even after having to drive home and eat our crawfish they were still my favorite I've had in this city yet. I would recommend trying them out for sure. I can't wait to go back and have the full experience.

Yelp
After a very eventful day, we came here specifically for crawfish. I'm from Houston where crawfish season is super popular and people live off crawfish for that little period of time. When I arrived, I saw crawfish on people's tables and I decided not to go for it. They were small and just didn't look too appealing. The menu has plenty of other options though. Service was ok. No mistakes were made and everything came out timely, it just wasn't the friendliest service I've had. I ended up ordering Crawfish Tommy Half n Half which is crawfish etoufee with white rice and fried crawfish tails and Cajun fries. I'm not from Louisiana, but I've had amazing Cajun food from there and even from Houston, and this just wasn't that. The etoufee had a very familiar taste and didn't taste bad, but I may have had about 3 pieces of crawfish in there. I'm used to having anything cajun fried with a tasty breading, but theirs was made with a batter of sorts. There was no flavor. The fries were supposed to be Cajun fries, but they were just plain ole fries. It wasn't horrible by any means, it just didn't do it for me. We had boiled crawfish at our table and we barely ate half. There was just no flavor at all. The waitress asked if something was wrong and we said it was lacking flavor and she just smiled and walked off. Overall, it's a cool neighborhood spot to hang out at. The bar is huge and it has 3 stories with a rooftop patio. My friend lives a flew blocks away so I am pretty sure I will be back when visiting her. I'll just stick to a liquid diet.
google avatar

Erica W.

Yelp
Friend and I went here to get drinks and a quick bite. We went up to the patio because the weather was so nice. However, after waiting 30 minutes for someone to acknowledge us, I had to go downstairs (twice) to ask a waitress to come up and help us. After finally ordering, the crawfish and gumbo were great. However, my friend didn't care for the crab legs and actually got sick a few hours later. Bad service. Okay food. Good prices.
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
Was a little hesitant based on prior reviews but the service & food here turned out to be much better than Yelp would make it seem. Everybody who waited on us was friendly and efficient, and the crawfish were definitely quality. I wasn't necessarily a huge fan of the spice blend they use on it (the lemon and garlic were pretty overpowering), but the crawfish themselves were very good. Also, I definitely recommend the wet rub over the dry because the wet has much more flavor (the dry seasoning didn't seem to sink in to flavor the meat on the plate of dry crayfish we ordered). You'll get pretty messy but it's definitely worth it! We also ordered a Cajun shrimp pasta, jambalaya, and bread pudding, all of which were delicious as well (especially the pasta and bread pudding!)
google avatar

Elvira S.

Yelp
I had a freaking blast with all my food here. First time here and they knocked it out of the park! YaYa Gumbo for my boyfriend to start *tried first bite* "YUUUUUUUPPPPPPP" Hahahaha cleared the cup of gumbo He also ordered a Paloma. Refreshing!!! Strong! Delicious! Good choice. Next up was the dodie oysters. Man-o-man I could've eaten 12 by myself but I'm glad we just ordered a dozen and split them! The little toasted bread they gave was like freaking perfection with the nice sized oysters! Like 5/6 of the oysters I personally ate were goooood size. Yummmmm!!! Adding this place to my very short list of oyster bars I'll return to. My boyfriend got the crawfish etouffee and he just about licked the bowl clean. I would only suggest you ask them to toast the bread for you :) I got the seafood nachos with shrimp and crawfish and HOT DAMN they were the best nachos I've ever had. They were simply everything I wanted from a nacho. A gracious but not overbearing amount of refried beans, a solid layer of shredded cheese, a HANDFUL of BOTH shrimp and crawfish ON EACH AND EVERY SINGLE CHIP which were also toasted to perfection. Like. What more could you ask for??? Each chip was PERFECT. Not even to mention the fact that they load you up with jalapeños, sour cream, lettuce, PICO, AND SALSA. Oh my gosh I was legit in heaven if you can't tell. I could only eat half and I will happily be throwing these bad boys in the oven later this evening. The staff. They're awesome. Seriously. Everyone was so attentive and kind. Like. Thank you. Kim and Kat! Y'all rocked. For real. I appreciate all the small things you did for me from ensuring my water was never empty (my ice water and hot water) to putting my extra sour cream in my to go box for me. Y'all were the best. Thanks again. I'll be back for more! No doubt about it. May be a new favorite for me.

Marian G.

Yelp
would never recommend this place. especially the way with how the general manager spoke to us is crazy. waiting in line to use the bathroom but getting upset with us waiting in line is obsurd. i was so excited to try this place out especially with the recommendation they had but after the way they tried us (the general manager) was so unprofessional. I have served at restaurants and I've have never been treated that way as a guest or as a server. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL
google avatar

Regina R.

Yelp
Just ok. Disappointed with the service today. The 20% gratuity was added to our check and the waitress was in the back eating and returned wiping crumbs from her mouth as she brought out our order. She was not engaged. She didn't deserve an automatic 20%tip. . Drinks are also overpriced and food is subpar. Take your money and enjoy better food and service elsewhere.
google avatar

Mikhael W.

Yelp
While we were enjoying what seemed to be a pleasant Friday afternoon lunch, we immeditaely noticed a few blood sucking mosquitoes (we later killed one) enjoying their meals! One, two, three, four, five, six....SIX total bites found on the hubs and I during our Friday lunch here. Due to the beautiful weather that day, Dodie's had their windows open. My better half had been wanting to try this place. He had heard that this place was the REAL DEAL when it came to authentic Cajun cuisine. I ordered the lunch po boy with a cup of gumbo and the Mr. got a trio plate (ettoufee, gumbo, and jambalaya). Not going to lie, his dish tasted like baby food, but mine was very palatable. The lunch portion was enough for 2 and definitely exceeded my expectations. The fish on the sammich was hot and flakey and paired perfectly with their house made tarter sauce (this needs to be a condiment in my house ASAP). Because of my Creole roots, I know what GOOD gumbo tastes like and I sure did not have it at Dodie's. The service was pretty much "hi and bye". No one seemed happy to have us, but it definitely wasn't bad. Overall I would return, if Pappadeaux were closed or too busy. Stick with the fried foods, you'll be happier. Prices are great too. Just hope I don't get West Nile Virus.
google avatar

Dustin U.

Yelp
This place has very good Cajun food. On this visit I had the Crawfish Étouffée which was delicious. Personally I like things spicier, so I add tobacco, but the flavor was good otherwise. Their drinks are pretty good, though I feel the aren't as strong as they should be.

Michelle T.

Yelp
They are very prejudice and I will never patronize them again. My bill was $253 which they included their gratuity of $38 dollars for 4 people where we had to flag them down for service. Shows how much they checked on us. They charged me $2 for the bread that should have accompanied the oysters. Nevertheless the service was horrible and they gave zero fksand I just noticed the service charge

Brad D.

Yelp
I've been going to Dodie's to watch the Saints games on the big screen and enjoy some Cajun food, Abita beer, and a great atmosphere to enjoy the games with other Saints fans for about 10 years now. This Sunday, 10/30/22, they decided to relegate the Saints game (which they have always advertised to be the big event on Sundays) to the secondary screens without sound. Really???! They're aren't already enough places for Cowboy fans to watch their games??? I'm now a disgusted and disappointed Dodie's patron. This sucks...(and I'm not referring to crawfish heads)!! Do I need to find a new venue to watch Saints games in DFW?? Any suggestions?
google avatar

Joseph A.

Yelp
Okay, so I just have to say that this place rocks! Service was fantastic, food was freaking delish, the owner/manager(guy with a wine key around his neck) was hilarious and fun. They stayed open during the ice storm so obviously the people who were working possibly wished they didn't, however, everyone was in great spirits. Totally coming back. Y'all killed it
google avatar

Juan D.

Yelp
Sat on the patio and the service was good, but the music playing outside was so ungodly terrible I couldn't take more than 30 minutes. Seriously, whoever is in charge of the music is either deaf or intentionally trying to run off patrons. Every. Song. Sucked. Multiple genres, all terrible.

Gavin P.

Yelp
Best oysters both raw and chargrilled Parmesan in Dallas ! We also got boudin balls and red beans and rice and they both did NOT disappoint! I would recommend this place to anyone in Dallas looking to grub on some traditional creole kitchen.
google avatar

Conner S.

Yelp
Needed a mid winter Cajun food fix so I tried Dodie's. TV's were massive & great to watch the first Star's win of the season. The beer prices were great for a Friday night on lower Greenville! Also had a good little root beer shot that I would recommend. The fried gator was decent. And the Crawfish Etouffee was missing some spice, just tasted salty. My gf & roommate got the crawfish which they said was great for it not being prime crawfish season. It's hard to nail authentic Cajun food and Dodie's tried it's best but came up a little bit short.
google avatar

Yelp
The stars here are well-earned...but be ready to open up your wallet. They are NOT a bargain. We came for the Chargrilled Oysters. We ordered a half dozen plus a half dozen of the Oysters Rockefeller. The Rockefeller were not at all presented in the manner I am accustomed (not even a hint of green anything), however, the flavor was great. They did not offer Abita Amber in a draft, but we were told that as soon as LSU football started up, they would carry it. This place appears to be a bar first, and one focussed on my beloved Tigers, so that is a win. I ordered the Blackened Redfish, and I must say it was the best I've ever had. My companion ordered the Angel Hair Pasta with chicken. The sauce was excellent, however...the chicken was entirely unseasoned & slightly overcooked. For desert, we split the insanely overwhelming bread pudding. Seriously, they could cut the chocolatey sweet goodness in half & it would still be a lot! (That's not a complaint) Now...they offer a "cole slaw" that comes out bright pink with huge hunks of veggies. The dressing is primarily vinegar-based. I loathe cole slaw, and I have walked out of restaurants who militantly force their nastiness upon the diners. I refused, politely, my side order of "slaw." My companion, who for some reason will actually eat traditional slaw only ate one bit. Our server seemed truly hurt that we did not appreciate their attempt to reinvent the wheel. I tend to think this is a Hipster slaw, so just go in informed. Parking in this part of Greenville Avenue is highly challenging, and I must say will be a determining factor in a return visit. Also, road construction created many detours, and getting out of the area took twice as long as expected. Overall, and for the price, Dodie's delivers on great food (except that Tyrannosaurus Slaw). It is not cheap eats, and I am fine with that when I get what I pay for...but again, unless you are one of those people who is punishing their own taste buds...avoid the slaw.

Thea S.

Yelp
Belinda took care of us on a college football Saturday. Great location. And great TVs!

Heather L.

Yelp
NEVER COME TO THIS PLACE!! I asked the owner not to change the game and he screamed at me for 10 min in front of everyone and told me to leave. Terrible food, terrible service, a total joke of a business.
google avatar

Chris V.

Yelp
Never been here before and drove by so I stopped in. Place was dead at 11:30 in the afternoon ish time. I ordered the Oysters Rockefeller and the the ya ya gumbo. The oysters had great flavor but had lots of grit and chips of the shell in it. The gumbo was had good flavor and not spicy. Add a little salt and Louisiana Hot Sauce and good to go. I'll come back and give something else a try for sure. A little disappointed in the oysters. Booooo

Yelp
Comfortable patio good food, good drinks.....2 bartenders....could have done with 1 good one. Literally 15 people in the entire place. You had to wait for drinks ...actually ask for them ...they forgot our food order...after 40 minutes we asked about it....!it was out in 7 minutes...... appetiser only. Just very lax. Not impressed with bartenders at all. Tipped accordingly

Yelp
My first visit to Dodie's! My coworker told me there was complimentary valet but I when I pulled up. The valet guy was reluctant of me pulling up, back turned to the valet stand in his phone ugh!!! I ended up just parking at the bank I wasnt trying to honk at him. Walked into the restaurant, its self seating. I really liked the wall decor and feel of the place but there was no one at the hostess stand to greet me while I stood there waiting to figure out what table I should grab. I decided to grab one of the larger booths and waited for about 5-10minutes for one of the servers to come by. She took my drink order and dropped 4 menus without asking how many people were going to be in my party. I later told her I was expecting more guests but she never dropped more plates or menus. Once everyone arrived we ordered a few round of appetizers and drinks. I wouldn't get a new drink unless I asked and my glass was completely empty. Someone came by and filled our waters which was nice. We had the crab and mushroom balls, the alligator bites, the quesadilla and the shrimp and crawfish nachos. I loved it all. When I asked the server how the alligator bites came or how many came in the order she told me it varied. I had to point at plates to get a better idea. As a server that's just something you have to be ready to answer andI felt like I was pulling teeth from her trying to figure this out. Overall the food was good, happy hour drink specials were awesome but the service was just ok. We had never been there before so we were waiting for the music to start at 7 and it never did. Then a server came by to almost an hour later to see if we could head out or move because we were sitting where the band would play. Oh my God no wonder there wasnt any music! We wish they wouldve told us sooner because we were waiting for the music haha!

Yelp
Went for dinner last night and so glad we choice this place. Eric (owner) went above and beyond for us. He opened the roof top so we could sit (we asked), made sure that we had plenty of heat, each tv had a different basketball game on, and he brought up a server to handle that area only. The food and drinks were excellent. Loved the atmosphere. Thank you again Eric. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
We ate here on Saturday night. I had gumbo and my girlfriend had redfish. She got food poisoning. We called next day to let them know they had bad fish. I was told manager would call us back. They never did. She was sick for two days and had nothing to eat before we went there or after. They didn't seem to care.

Yelp
Came here to watch the Saints game and grab brunch a couple weekends ago and, while I'm so thankful to have a reliable spot to watch my home team play, I think I'll likely stick to this only for beers and games. The bar and patio are set up well to watch games with plenty of tvs so every house is a good seat. My husband is a cowboys fan (bless his heart) so when both teams play at once, we have to go out. With covid, our usual haunts have been closed so we thought we'd try something new. We were able to get a seat quickly but then the service, despite there being several waitresses and a fairly light crowd, was ridiculously slow. We waited over 30 minutes for our first drink and by the end of the meal were joking about how nearly impossible it was to find a server. Now the food, we had the alligator fritters which were very interesting (I'm used to large pieces over small) and surprisingly addictive. I had shrimp and grits for brunch but they were so over salted I can't recommend it. My best friend ordered the gumbo and she had the same issue with too much salt. My husband had the chicken and waffles and said he'd give them 4/5 stars (they looked gorgeous). Our last friend had the breakfast tacos which probably wasn't the right call in Nola themed joint. The beignets ordered for the table tasted more like sopapillas. While the presentation of the food was beautiful, I'd recommend about half the salt. We will likely give this place another try.

Yelp
Ate at the rooftop bar to get away from the pounding music inside. Nice outdoor space. Service was kind of erratic. But the gumbo and red beans were off the hook. Will definitely go back but maybe for takeout!

Yelp
The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is bc the staff was super friendly. The Bud Light draft tastes sour...they need to change out the keg or clean the lines. The spinach artichoke dip were huge chunks of artichoke and very little cheese. The staff was awesome but they need to tell management to stay on top of things. Make sure your beer isn't outdated and improve the dip

Yelp
Restaurant racism is a real thing and needs to be discussed with the staff here and shut down quickly. I have not eaten here in years but the times have changed and the service has to change with it. The fact there are dozens of recent one star review that have not been addressed by ownership or management tells me there is a serious don't give a shit attitude here. We are in a new time. Change your ways or you will be gone soon enough. Prime Greenville Ave space comes at a cost. If your spending that money then spend some on training

Yelp
My fiancé and I came there. Ordered water to start off. Soon as my fiancé went to the restroom, the waitress came and asked for my card to keep tab open even though we hadn't discussed ordering drinks at all. Just water. Whole time there I looked to see if she'd ask the new comers the same with their cards but didn't. Obvious racial profiling in 2021. Food was great in taste, but definitely over priced for the portion sizes. And to top it off the flies we could've done without. So it's a no return for me. Oh and if you don't want to be racially profiled and asked for your card before you even order anything, I wouldn't go there or recommend. I wonder if that's a normal thing they do? Ask for your card before ordering anything.....

Yelp
My friend and I split "The Dodie", an off menu item, recommended by server. It came with 2 portions of crab legs, a bunch of shrimp, and piece of corn. It was more than enough seafood to share for two girls but you could potentially split it three ways with the addition of an appetizer. The food was pretty tasty and reasonably priced. Not the most amazing I have eaten but I would definitely return. The service was a little bit slow but our server was extremely friendly and provided a great experience so I am assuming that the restaurant was short staffed due to Covid.

Yelp
My first visit here was a while back on a Red River Shootout weekend. The rooftop was nice for chillaxing, and maybe dancing after a few drinks. A few year later, I came here for food and don't remember what I ate. I'm sure it wasn't good, that's why it escaped my memory. Then a few days ago, I came back because I was told Dodie's make good chargrilled oysters. Nope. Their chargrilled oysters were bland and small. I felt really greasy eating it. The scallops wrapped in bacon was even worst. It didn't taste good and the plate was filled with tons of oil. I wish it was olive oil, but I doubt it. The bread was so hard, and it seemed like they are old bread. Gosh! What a waste of my cheat meal. I feel so gross just think about how greasy the food was. Dodie's must be popular around this part of town, because there are 2 Dodie's on Lower Greenville. This particular one has 3 floors and a huge bar on the first floor. The rooftop has a small bar, and it's mainly for people to chill and smoke. They have DJs on the weekend. The rooftop is cool though (except for the smoking part). Would totally just chill there with some drinks, and pass on the food.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I can only offer a review of the of service rather than the food. I understand restaurants, especially now, continue to suffer from staffing issues. However, for one of the first and only times during the last two + years,we experienced abysmal service. Dodie's needs better management. We only saw our waitstaff person once and when we asked a different employee about it, they took out their frustrations on us and replied in a very rude way. After 35 minutes of waiting at our table, we left to go next door (to a restaurant with the same layout/setup but way better service).
