I went to Dog Daze today for lunch as I work in the area and have never tried it. I ordered a Chili Cheese Dog, The Wilton Dog and Cheese Fries, along with a couple others for coworkers. I was pleasantly surprised with the food. Great hotdogs! Not messy and sloppy like some places, actually, the opposite. You can tell a lot of care is used to make each one. They look picture perfect. That Wilton Dog was super good!! The fries are true thick cut hand made french fries. Sometimes I do not like these at other places but again was surprised at how good these were. Additionally, they have a really great menu all around with burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and some other great items. Prices are reasonable as well. Also to mention, the owner? who was working there was extremely friendly. They have a really nice little "farm market" there with some really great looking local fruits, vegetables, pickled veggies and local honey. I was impressed with Dog Daze and I will be returning very soon.

This was my first visit and I loved the cute decor and fall vibe! My husband kept talking about the squash blossoms, and I tried the corn fritters and ordered the Western Burger. I guess I wasn’t expected the height, but it had everything I like - bacon, bbq sauce, onion rings! If you want fresh tomatoes - they also have a stand for tomatoes and mini squashes that you can enjoy at home.

Google
No hours of operation listed anywhere, but good reviews. Came at 4pm on a Monday and it’s closed. Cool. If you wanna go I guess you just gotta hope and pray they are open.

Google
Friendliest owner possible! Outstanding service, and absolutely amazing food. Also a very nice, always clean, atmosphere. Nothing compares.

Google
This is a cash-only order at the window joint. You can eat at picnic tables out of doors or take away. I've never had a bad meal if you're hungry for a dog, brat, burger, or whatever. This place is excellent. Know that they will close for winter. I also love their onion rings. One notable fact: no dogs allowed

Yelp
5 star location but I give 4 stars bc of hours of operation are not consistent. I have been hearing about this place for a couple years but never had the opportunity bc they are a seasonal location. So this year I have been waiting patiently and finally spring came around and they opened up but I advise to call ahead bc there hours vary and also weather related. But the staff is very friendly and helpful they bring the food to your car which is a nice touch. It being only my 1st time I just tried a fried chicken sandwich and got a icee as well. Both were delicious! I will definitely come back to explore the menu. There is seating outside or you can eat in your car.

Yelp
Stopped in for a first visit here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice service and comfortable tables make a nice road side setting. My chili dogs on toasted buns were very good and will have to be back for their apparently wonderful french fries and burgers

Elle D.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times now and the food and service has been incredible both times! The fried squash blossoms are super unique and come with a delicious sauce, and the hot dogs of course are hearty and have so many options. Wish I could try everything on this menu! Very cute sitting areas too.

Yelp
Back again & couldn't pass Dog Daze without stopping for lunch. Today we tried the Hot Honey Bacon Chicken Sandwich & the Shrimp Corn Chowder - absolutely outstanding, cooked to order & delicious! We can never eat here w/o the fries as they are the best anywhere! It was chilly so before we left we ordered some mini churros & warm apple cider - WOW! The dulce de Leche dip for the churros an excellent touch! The best lunch stop in CT - don't pass on Rt7 w/o stopping in for a delicious, affordable meal with the friendliest owners!

Yelp
Best hand cut fries around. Pls consider doing poutine! excellent onion rings. Dog toppings are plentiful, would just like a bigger dog for the price. The Burger on the other hand is fresh and juicy and cooked to order (better than Heibecks). Very friendly. Pls bring back Venmo or CC. Cash only very tough.

Yelp
Born and raised in Chicago, I'm extremely critical of "hot dog stands" especially if they don't serve the almighty Vienna Beef products. Dog Daze has turned me around - love the griddled bun, the seasoned tasty coating on the onion rings and the CORN DOG (salivating at the memory) - devoured so quickly a photo could not be taken. It was a bit tricky to get in and out due to the location and the road traffic made me a bit skittish but that's not their fault. Love the seating areas they set up outside - will be back when it's nicer out to enjoy!

Yelp
I enjoyed Dog Daze. I had a hot dog with spicy mustard, my fiancé had the Wilton dog which had melted cheese, onions, and bacon. Then we shared the hand cut french fries. Im never sure whether to start with the semi bad or the good. I guess its better to end with the good. The only two semi bad things were the hot dogs were small and the order took too long to get to us. Now the good things the hot dogs were cooked nicely with a toasted bun. The bacon that went on the Wilton dog was crispy. The french fries were da bomb definitely homemade. I also liked that all the tables their were signs saying no dogs allowed. While I love seeing a dog at a park. I dont want one roaming around while Im eating lunch. Dog owners seem to be oblivious but just because I say cute dog doesn't mean I want your dog under my table, rubbing against me or licking me.

Yelp
Always perfect. The best roadside gourmet anywhere. Just had 2 hot dogs today and they were made with Love! Fish sandwich is awesome. I can just say everything is the highest quality possible. Thanks for being special! .
google avatar

Yelp
I love the hotdogs. And the way they do the buns. Always fresh especially the fries. This is my go to stop, in the spring and summer after I take my dog to the vet!

Yelp
Great quick service cafe on the side of the road in Route 7. We've been meaning to try their food for a while and I'm glad we finally did. Friendly service and a few tables outside. We had some burgers, hotdog and cajun fries. We loved everything and the food tasted fresh and delicious! The only drawback is they only accept cash.

Jack S.

Yelp
Unfortunately they cater to those without dietary issues. I asked about gluten free roll and such and the response was less than pleasant.

Yelp
These in my opinion are the best dogs around. I stop here almost everytime I drive by for a hot dog and an a&w root beer. My go to is usually the chicago dog which is pictured below, but today I also tried the Wilton Dog (chili, cheese, onion, bacon) and it was so good I forgot to grab a photo lol Ps the onion rings are delicious

Yelp
Beautiful summer day drive down Route 7 near Wilton CT, passed the DD Cafe and decided to get a lunch snack. Plenty of sit-down restaurants to grab a sandwich or meal along the way, but the hot dog stand was calling me! No frills, order a 'dog' specialty at the window, and sit at one of their picnic tables or stool by the shack to enjoy their eats. EZ on the wallet, cost averages ~$10pp or less. Hot Dogs are ~$4-6, and then add a side of fries (think fresh cut and they looked fantastic) or drinks if desired. I got a Chicago Dog and a Chili Dog. Hot dogs were grilled fresh, served on a grilled/toasted bun with toppings. Chicago had mustard, pickles, diced onions, sliced tomatoes and jalapeños. Chili was bean-less, and then added fresh diced onion and mustard. Both were very tasty but my favorite was the Chicago Dog as it had a nice kick from the jalapeños, plus the toppings blended excellently! If you're a Hot Dog fan, check out DDC ... and also suggest to bring your favorite dog companion with you to enjoy the outdoor ambience. Enjoy!!

Yelp
We were just out for a drive and thought we would try Dog Dazes - we had an excellent lunch ! My grilled chicken sandwich was amazing !!!! My husband loved his hot dog and French fries and Onion rings . I would recommend if you are in the area -

Yelp
Good spot. Reminds me of Swankeys.... well the dogs anyway. Best dog near me! And, nice to sit outside.

Lina G.

Yelp
Delicious hot dogs. We tried the Reuben and Rodeo. The bacons were crisp and the bun was toasted. They know how to top these dogs well. It was a great spot to stop by after a hike nearby.

Nicolas F.

Yelp
Best burger in the area and great fries. Right next to a farmers market open seasonally.

Yelp
I really think the world would be a better place if there were more small-scale burger joints like Dog Daze in every small town. I really miss these little sorts of roadside stands that seemed ubiquitous in my youth but now take a little more searching to find. I think this little shack on the side of route 7 has been a few different things over the years, but the most recent one really deserves your attention. Admittedly, i've driven by this place a lot, and never had time to make a stop, but nothing made me feel guiltier than finally stopping by and discovering how good it is. Having been there once, i didn't sample much of the menu, but i'll tell you one thing: this place knows how to grill a hot dog. I didn't ask what kind they use, but it was perfectly charred, with that little bit of crispiness without drying it out or affecting the taste. The fries were also great, i mostly ordered them out of curiosity but didn't expect to eat them all. I ended up finishing the whole side before i could even get to the reuben dog (which uh....ruled, if you're catching on). If i had to dock this place for anything, it would be that parking is a little wonky. And doing that would be stupid, so five stars it is! Please give this place a shot, it really deserves to stick around and i can't wait to go back.

Yelp
This is my go-to place for a good hot dog. The toppings are always fresh and delicious, as are the buns. Wilt the summer approaching the place gets busy, but the service is quick and the staff is always pleasant and courteous.

David M.

Yelp
Odd that they call it Dog Daze Cafe but there are no dogs allowed. That notwithstanding, they do serve burgers and hot dogs before 11am, unlike some other so-called hamburger restaurants, the customer service is friendly, and most importantly, the food is good. I would go here again when driving up or down Rt 7. I liked my onion rings.

Yelp
best food stand anywhere by far everything is fresh and top quality my favorite is the gilled kielbasa also great reasonably priced burgers and great handout fries beautiful setting on scenic rte 7

Yelp
Discovering good road food is always nice, especially when it's on a road you frequent. In this case, you pull off of Route 7, onto the gravel lot and pull up next to a very old, red and white food shack (20 layers of paint, ordering windows with a view of the cook's gut and a cantilevered overhang to protect you from the elements while you order). I've been here twice and ordered chicken sausages both time. They were perfectly grilled, crunchy outside with a juicy snap when you bite into them. Dijon mustard artfully applied and nestled in a standard bun, it's a perfectly satisfying salty protein snack. This time, I ordered onion rings as well. White onions in a light, crispy, slightly oily batter. Pepper was mixed in the batter; salt added on top. Lip-smackin' good. The only thing I wanted was some brewed tea to wash it all down; all they had was Snapple. Overall, just what the doctor ordered for the drive home. (Not a real doctor.)

Yelp
Driven by this place 100 times, finally stopped in for lunch. It's a small red shack right on route 7 in Wilton. A couple picnic tables. Nice little spot, road noise is a bit loud but not unbearable. Had the Wilton Dog, which is a hot dog with onion, chili, bacon, and a cheese whiz sauce on it. Also, had some onion rings. Both were good, not fantastic but ok for lunch. The onion ring portion was a bit small. Service was good.

Yelp
It was pretty good it took a little while for the food to come but the lady at the front desk is super nice

Yelp
It's a little hamburger stand on the side of the road, how cool is that? Food is great, staff was friendly. Food Hot dog 5/5 Solid hot dog. Good flavor, can't really say more than that. It was tasty. Fried mac and cheese 4.5/5 Fried bits of fried kraft mac and cheese served with Ketchup. Which surprisingly goes very well with each other. Chicken tenders 5/5 Definitely tasted fresh to me. Not that frozen crap a lot of places serve these days. Very good. Overall: 5/5 Very solid joint with an amazing atmosphere. Will return to try some of their more inventive creations eventually, (their entire menu looked pretty damn good), but I had to start with the basics. If you're in the area give this place a try, I'm sure it won't disappoint.

Yelp
They should not call it "Dog" Daze Cafe as dogs on a leash are not allowed, not even to order and go sit in your car. No one else was there but us and the employee insisted that our dog, who is recovering from a serious illness was not allowed whatsoever. They lost my business forever. Went up the street to Heibecks Stand at 951 Danbury Road, Wilton, which was voted no. 1 in CT and it was awesome - great food, friendly service and they love dogs.

Rick V.

Yelp
Egregiously expensive Hot Dogs of mediocre quality served by rude staff. If this works well for you I'd recommend Dog Daze. Otherwise look elsewhere...Heibecks is right nearby and has a superior product served by nice people.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch. Really yummy. Wilton dog was excellent and fries are homemade and really well done. Great little find!

Mike S.

Yelp
Have not been to this location in many many years but was really really delighted and had an awesome lunch with the family including blackened chicken sandwich burgers and chili dog. The service was excellent a tiny bit pricey but will definitely come back

Yasmine S.

Yelp
I driven by this spot at least 1000 times always had thoughts to stop but never did. Happy we did today! Burgers are yummy, fries fresh cut potatoes cooked just right. The onion rings are awesome!!

EVAN G.

Yelp
Nothing says summer like Dog Daze reopening. They have hotdogs for the whole family, plain for the kids and more complex ones for the adults. Summer weekends aren't complete without a trip to Dog Daze!
google avatar

Greg K.

Yelp
Dog Daze is terrific! They have great hot dogs, burgers, fries, nachos; pretty much anything you could imagine at a summer spot. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
Great little place!!! My fiancé and I have been coming here every weekend for lunch since we have discovered it! The food is awesome!!! It's fresh and tasty! We love the burgers, onion rings and cheese fries. Not to mention everything is cooked after ordered ! Their parents also operate a farm stand next door offering fresh farm goods! The apple cider is fantastic and they are such lovely people. They have seasonal hours!! This place is a definite must try if you haven't already!

J H.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise. Excellent high quality ingredients cooked well make for a wonderful experience. Handcut fries were some of the best I've had anywhere. Add to the experience a friendly husband and wife team who run one of the cleanest kitchens I have ever seen. You must visit!
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
How many times have you stopped at an old-looking drive in hoping you've found a place would be worthy of a Calvin Trillin road food review, only to find it is the usual disk of flaccid hamburger and frozen fries? Not here. The owner has a background in fine dining, and it shows: great fresh ingredients carefully prepared. House made fresh onion rings, fresh cut crispy fries, and always a great selection of sausages. Hoping he gets a year 'round place, as I miss it too much in winter.
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
Stop here on your way up Route 7. It's on the left. You've probably passed in 100 times, so stop and check it out. You'll be glad you did. I didn't think roadside places like this, with a great menu and ever-changing specials, existed anymore. But this one does, and it's a treat!

James I.

Yelp
Absurd prices. Coney dog was OK. Maybe even good. Chicago dog was an embarrassment to the name Chicago dog. Wrong bun. Wrong relish. Jalapenos instead of sport peppers. GARBAGE! Fries were fresh cut, but floppy and WAY over salted. Will not go back.

Kevin H.

Yelp
Some of the freshest tastiest fast food. They're always very nice, their dogs are spectacular and sides are very solid. They have a farm stand going at the same time with local produce (or semi-local) it's from a family farm in Ellenville NY. Any kind of dog is good, their pulled pork is more than adequate, and the fries are beautiful. Cash Only, and the hours are a little eratic.

Nick D.

Yelp
Great little place by the side of the road. Staff is always super friendly and recognize regulars, which is nice. The burgers are wonderful; they have a unique taste different from any restaurant burgers I've had. I personally love it, but it could be a personal preference. The fries, however, are objectively fantastic. Cheap, tasty, friendly.

Alex G.

Yelp
Intuitive creative and delicious cuisine! A must try!! The Wilton Dog and chili fries are excellent- as is just about everything on the menu!

Vanessa D.

Yelp
Always looking for good dogs, stumbled upon it - this place is special. Very inventive hot dogs / toppings, plus fresh-cut fries and excellent pulled pork. We didn't try the burgers, but they looked really good too. Pleasant, quick service, clearly cooked by the owner. We will go out of our way to return. Look sharp, though - easy to miss (southbound side), and very little parking.
google avatar

Maureen C.

Yelp
I had some of the best onion rights of my life here. The onion flavor comes through and tastes strangely delicate, unlike the mass of fried batter that you might find with a lesser onion ring. The pulled pork sandwich was wonderful, although maybe they could consider toasting the bun. My husband had a hot dog with pickled okra, and went back for a corn dog -- I don't know what they put in their batter, but it's awesome. My friend Mark had a burger and fries, and he seemed very happy. Altogether, this is everything I expect from road food, and in a very pleasant setting.

C D.

Yelp
Tried out this little place, menu looks great I would like to come back to try other things. I had some fresh apple cider which was great, not too sweet but refreshing. I had a simple hot dog with relish ketchup and mustard. Dog was great, good flavor and texture. Bun was not quite as soft as I prefer, but adequate and not too thick. Definitely want to return for the fried macaroni and cheese wedges!

Sarah M.

Yelp
The absolute best onion rings ever! Amazing burgers and dogs. Satisfies cravings while supporting a great small and local business. Plus let's face it- they are magicians when it comes to a fryer. You don't feel disgusting after eating it either. Can't wait to try the new menu items they added this year. YUM!

Jack S.

Yelp
Classic American roadside gem with a gourmet twist. Personal favorite is the Bayou Dog... I never knew I liked Okra so much let alone on a dog. Generous portion of hand cut fries are crispy and stand straight. Perky service from two super nice people. Not to be missed.

A F.

Yelp
Great service, Fresh Delicious Food. You have to try the cheeseburger, french fries and onion rings! Add it to the bucket list! :)
