I come to this location for lunch often, and the staff is fantastic! I often grab food for the rest of the classroom, and they have complicated customized order, but the staff always gets it correct and make sure to read it back to me! Nick has Often served me and he always gives five star service! The food is also always delicious, hot, and fresh – the variety they have is excellent and the prices of fear.

Magda C.

Google
I'll give you 5 star if you change your tzatziki sauce recipe back. Today's sauce was awful, tasted like thickened with flour

Google
Great customer service greeted quickly. He was polite when he took our order. Had the 🥙 gyros very good just needed just a little bit more. The pizza puff was a little over cooked. The cheese fries had a good amount of cheese 🧀🧀. The gravy bread had good flavor to it. Overall I will be back to try other things. Definitely try the chicken on a pita!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍

Google
Pricey but the food is good and customer service is great. We ordered the chicken caesar salad, a hot dog and gyro fries. Food was hot, restaurant was clean and service was quick. We ate in the restaurant and the noise level was acceptable. At times we were the only customers there and the employee conversation wasn't too loud or inappropriate. Parking was easy. If the prices were more competitive I would give 5 stars but I understand times are tough right now and these kinds of places don't have the resources some of the larger chains have.

This my first time trying doggie diner. I heard great things. So much variety on what to get. Love the fact it made fresh when you get there. Food is picture perfect. Looks just like in photo. Food is tasty. Pink lemonade wasn’t very sweet. Would try again but not open on Sundays.

(* Review is for Doggie Diner - and their prices - as a "vendor" at St. Charles Scarecrow Fest 2025). - Spent $15 ($16.20 total credit card charge) for a small 5" beef which appeared to be on one of those standard Turano rolls you can find at an grocery store. We felt raped.. Based on their regular menu prices, that same beef is about $8. So, for the fest, they gouged the price almost 100%. Uncalled for. We know they probably have to pay fees and "rent a tent" to be at festivals, so we would understand some increase, but a100% upcharge is just plain WRONG. As a family going back 3 generations, we have been giving Doggie Diner business all the way back to the late 80's - when they were originally in Carol Stream. Probably never again.... Shame on you.

Google
I ordered a gyros plate and a pizza puff. When I asked for my drink I was told my order didn't come with a drink. When I pointed to the menu where it has a drink included the worker insisted my order did not come with a drink and will charge me extra for it. Watch out for the switch and bait!

Max O.

Google
I’ve been going to different doggie diners for the past 25 years. This is the only one that gave me curdled cheese on my cheese fries. Paid extra for feta on each gyro. Didn’t get feta on any of the gyros.

Yelp
Always good HOT food. I am going to be loyal to them even though there is a big boy moving in the neighborhood. During covid they were the only place open to get good fresh HOT food to bring home. I would have starved during that time if it weren't for Doggie Diner being open, with good hot food. It is worth getting out of your car, and see the hard working workers preparing your food, and knowing it is fresh. No worries about getting home to cold food that sat for 20 minutes before you made it to the window, then by the time you get home, you need to toss it into the microwave. SUPPORT THE GUYS WHO HAVE BEEN THERE FOR US FOR MANY YEARS!I

Yelp
Running strong as a Plainfield staple for close to two decades, DOGGIE DINER. Doggie Diner boasts of daily specials from their hot dogs to gyro sandwich deals to the ambiance of small town feel in the ever growing town of Plainfield. They cook everything fresh and have home made daily soups! I see the same cheerful, spunky, helpful guy behind the counter every time I go in. Very friendly fella and another hard working gentleman making the food as it was ordered. Next time you stop at Menards, Dollar Tree or Planet Fitness-stop and get yourself a delicious bite at Doggie Diner, off Route 59 and 135th Street.

Yelp
Doggie Diner, Your 2 hot dog, fries and drink special is an excellent deal. The hot dogs and fries were excellent and well worth the ride. My wife had the gyros with fries it was outstanding too. There is more to the menu than dogs and gyros and we look forward to sampling from their variety of items. I'd recommend using your GPS to find the Doggie Diner, because it's easy to miss.
google avatar

Karl P.

Yelp
Wow yea it's a hot dog joint and so much more. I have been driving past this place for years and finally had an opportunity to stop there with the wife. I had the 2 hot dog special with fries and a drink for a very reasonable price. That is my baseline for a joint like this. It delivered as expected! The wife had the Texan Burger. Only complaint was that the person behind the counter was asked if there was an bbq sauce on it. He said no. There was. Disappointed but it was finished as a overall good burger Fries were acceptable but not a talking point. Typical hot dog style decor and more chalk boards with menu items that were detailed. I will be back for the specials! Sorry, ate it before I remembered to take pictures...

Yelp
We catered Italian beef for my daughter's baby shower. Everything was amazing, everyone loved the beef and wanted to know where we got it. The whole process was super easy and Kristie was super helpful. Cannot recommend them enough!!
google avatar

Yelp
Located in a strip mall, parking easy. Appearance inside a bit cluttered, but clean. Walls covered with menu suggestions. My first visit. Went with an Italian Beef w/ hot peppers. Side of fries. Both served hot, moist and flavorful. Just a quick lunch stop, but very satisfied with the offering.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Ok. I ordered an Italian, breaded steak sandwich. This is the driest, most overcooked sandwich I may have ever had in my life. How is this acceptable to serve someone? Where is the red sauce? Rest of the family is enjoying their gyros without complaint. Too far to drive back to replace. Extremely disappointing.

Niya B.

Yelp
A bit pricey! Almost $9 for a pizza puff and fries! All sauces cost extra after already overcooking charging!

Cynthia B.

Yelp
I got the hotdog special. The fries were in fact very good. However, the hotdog bun was staled and way too much mustard and the hotdog was cold.

Faye G.

Yelp
Great fries! Convenient little snack. Have been coming for years and they have a very standard menu aside from the fries not much else stands out to me. Have tried the burger, hot dog, nuggets, mozzarella sticks, pizza puff, wrap, and i'm sure more. But will always go back for the fries!

Allyson H.

Yelp
I got my hot dog to-go and it was the exact thing I needed. It was so good! The service was great I got my food right away (before I could even text my friend on how good this place is.) The ambiance was absolutely adorable! I forgot to get everyone's name but everyone was so nice and sweet! So pleasantly surprised for a first time visit and I just had to review!

Yelp
Good hot dogs at a great price. Typical hot dog joint. Huge menu, maybe too big. It's hard to believe they can do so many food item well, but maybe.... I've only had the hot dogs which are pretty hard to get wrong. The 2 hot dog and fries and drink special is where it's at.

Emma P.

Yelp
This is my favorite place in the entire world. I always get the two hotdog special that comes with two hotdogs, a huge bag of fries, and a drink. I usually get the green river. It's a great serving amount and a excellent meal. The cashiers and crew are always so welcoming and excited. I wouldn't recommend this place enough.
google avatar

Leslie M.

Yelp
Food is amazing! I've had many of their menu options and so far so good. Would recommend for a non-cook night and needing to pick something quick and yummy.

Yelp
I've never been to Texas. But this burger does make me feel different. I love the Texas burger!

Yelp
I love hot dogs. And as much as I shudder to think what's in them, it is still my go-to fast food when I'm traveling. I think hot dog joints should be as common as Starbucks or McDonalds. And if one hot dog place should be replicated on every corner, it should be Doggie Diner. I was in Plainfield, craving some fast food and I spotted Doggie Diner. (It's easy to miss, squeezed between Little Caesars and a dry cleaner in a small building facing the street in front of Menards.) For a moment I thought it might be a place to buy dog food until I saw the window sign that said "Milkshakes". I pulled in the parking lot, checked Yelp and saw that it was worth going inside. Once inside it took time to read their menu because it's seemingly endless... hot dogs, gyros, meatballs, burgers, chicken, submarines - turkey, salami, veggie, Philly steaks, hoagies... if you can put it between two pieces of bread, I think this place has it. I went with the boring choice and got the hot dog with fries... but not just one for $3.69. No, I took advantage of their 2 hot dog deal with fries and a drink for $2.26 more! The first hot dog was delicious, bakery fresh bun (no sesame seeds - YAY!), the hot dog was just like I got from the lunch ladies back in school. The fries were the thin cut, grab-a-handful-dipped-in-catchup-and-shove-in-your-face kinda fries. One hot dog and I was satisfied. Then I looked down in the basket and there was another delicious beauty staring at me with enough fries that it looked like I hadn't eaten any yet. Well, of course, I couldn't throw it away. The next thing I knew my basket was empty and my stomach was pleasantly full. For a normal human, that would have been plenty, but I couldn't end the enjoyment there. As I was leaving I noticed that one of the shake flavors was banana. Banana..? I just had to know if it was a good as it sounded. It was. :-)

Yelp
This is a small tucked away dinner that is worth giving a try. They have daily specials, and the day I came (Thursday) was a Philly cheesesteak with fries and a drink. My sandwich was pretty good but the fries are to die for. Sandwich 4/5 Service 5/5
google avatar

Ed K.

Yelp
Great hot dog place. Terrific gyro options and wonderful bbq rib sandwich. Staff is friendly and service is fast. Daily specials are good options.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick dinner as we were running errands in the area. I ordered a jumbo Chicago dog with fries. The Vienna dog and toppings were great, but it wasn't served on a poppyseed bun. It's the little things... The fries were delicious! Especially with a side of cheese! My husband ordered a gyro and said it was solid.

Yelp
Great place! Fast hot food and delicious! What more can you want! Haven't had a order that I have anything bad to say!

Yelp
HOT - RUDE - BAD SERVICE I have been coming here since the place opened on a regular basis, at one point even holding the top spot for visitors on yelp. Over the years, cleanliness a d service has slid downhill, but the food has always been affordable and delicious. Within the last year and a half they replaced all but one table with these crappy tiny little booths which are so small anyone who is above average height and weight couldn't squeeze in them if they tried. in addition the ceiling tiles are stained and gross too. it has become increasingly more difficult to eat here, yet it hadn't really deterred me until today. Up until yesterday I on a regular basis tagged this location as having the best hot dogs in Will County at the best value. I understand with covid that things are difficult and we strive to support small businesses. Tonight's experience was the worst I've had there. We came in tonight all the way from Channahon after calling to confirm that they were open for dine in. We walked in to about a 90° restaurant. My wife and two boys sat down in a row of empty booths while I ordered. I clearly stated my order was for dine in, yet everything was packaged to go. Only after opening up all our food and passing it out to my wife and kids do they tell us abruptly we need to move everything to another table despite the fact that we had already been settled in for over 5 minutes ordered, waited, and received our food. in addition the kids had already touched everything at that table. (There were absolutely no clear signs or indicators stating certain tables were closed due to social distancing or even anything stating if a table had been or hadn't been sanitized) They decided then to tell me because the table we sat at had no napkin holder we couldn't sit there like we're fortune tellers that can figure these things out despite no other distinguishable notification then a napkin holder missing. So I move everybody to open up my food to find out it was made incorrectly. I just threw my meal away and let the wife and kids eat. At this point I doubt I will return unless someone from their establishment reaches out. I'll gladly take my money and my commute to Jody's in Joliet or Joey's when they open in New Lenox.

Yelp
First time- came between lunch and dinner. Hot dog buns were stale and they aren't poppyseed. Not horrible, but not great. Gyro great, a bit overloaded by the white wonderful. Fries, regular and garlic, were very par. Staff was very friendly. Place is setup exactly like a subway. Tables weren't clean. I'd expect this exact scenario form a suburban hot dog joint. Minus the cleanliness, no excuse for that.
google avatar

Baby G.

Yelp
Good service and food good my kids like there hotdog and there fries are made fresh there cheeseburgers are Juicy delicious
google avatar

Doyle K.

Yelp
This place didn't really do well with me. The beef here wasn't exactly as good as I had expected and the fries were extremely plain. The service was slow while it was essentially empty (I wouldnt complain about a place being slow if it were busy at the time) and there was nothing memorable about this place. Food I had here: Italian beef, no peppers, with mozzarella, dipped. Fries. Food 3/5 Environment 2/5 Service 2/5

Charles A.

Yelp
No one making food is wearing gloves! Cashier takes money or card the. Goes and helps make food. Doesn't wash hands in between or put gloves on. I love doggie diner been going since I was a kid to the one in lisle or Woodridge. Super disappointed. I look forward to popping in again to see if they are wearing gloves. Bare hand contact was gross pre Covid. On a positive side staff was friendly, but I did not eat my food
google avatar

Roger F.

Yelp
Diner is just what you would expect from a Hotdog place. Menu is vast and lots of daily specials. Service is fast and food is ok. It was hot but I would say average. The place could do a better job cleaning tables and upkeep of the building. Ceiling tile is nasty.
google avatar

Cade S.

Yelp
I truly love this place. I go frequently and always get the hotdog special. First I would like to start off saying the price for this filling meal. $6:50 cents for two hotdogs fries and a drink is such a good deal. The two male staff workers are super friendly and recognize people that eat there frequently. You get you food super fast and the fries are always super fresh. Don't waist your money on a sub par Portillos hotdog this is the place to go!!!!
google avatar

Robb L.

Yelp
Always great food here. I either get the gyro or hot dogs, not a huge fan of their fries though. (And they give you a ton)

Yelp
My wife loved this place until one day she met a gentleman that called himself the owners brother. Oh boy. This guy didn't know how close he came to being pulled over the counter. She went in to place her order at the counter and she ordered her regular patty melt thing (meat, onions cheese sandwich) but she loves it. The guy gave her attitude because he didn't know what she was talking about. She tried to explain and then instantly went to being rude causing my wife to leave crying. Tip to brother: 1. Don't mess with a man's wife especially when he is literally twice your size. The person that you where rude to; ironically saved you. 2. When you don't know something, it's ok. Just listen to your customer. She wasn't being rude but just trying to tell you about how she likes her sandwich. 3. You being ridiculous turned a good customer into a bad advertisement.

Michael P.

Yelp
I've been in a hotdog mood lately and decided to try this place out after one of my brothers ate their last week. I tried the two dog and fries special which comes with a soda for $6.45 plus tax. The dogs are Chicago style except they don't have poppy seed buns, which isn't a big deal. The toppings are plentiful including 4 or 5 sports peppers. The special comes with a big bag of fries which are hot, crispy and delicious. The service was excellent. The young lady that took our order answered my questions very patiently when I asked about other specials. I'm very pleased with the food and service and certainly will be back.
google avatar

Angela P.

Yelp
Cheap and fast. That's Doggie Diner. The gyros are just OK. Gemato's in Naperville has the BEST. The cheese fries are super cheesy. Don't you have when restaurants skimp on the cheese? Doggie Diner does not. Portions are big here. You won't leave hungry.
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
If you like diner food, this is a great place! The grilled chicken pita was fantastic! We also had steak fries, mozzarella sticks and shared a pizza puff. Everything was made to order and delicious!! The people will also take time to answer questions if you need.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
I have been frequenting Doggie Diner in Plainfield for some time now. Over the last few months I have been there 2-3 times a week. Over the last month I have purchased the Italian Sausage sandwich several times. The portion size was great, a full link on french bread. Today I purchased the Italian Sausage and it was a link cut in half. I asked if they were cutting down on the size since it was half of what I got last week. The person behind the counter said they are all that size. That did not answer the question. I guess I will need to look foe another hot dog shop to frequent in the future.

R W.

Yelp
Doggie Diner is the bomb. I grew up on the original one in Woodridge. Hot dogs are fantastic and no they are not served on poppy seed buns, because poppy seed buns suck. Why anyone would want to eat a bun with a million tiny seeds with no flavor to them is beyond me, so kudos to DD for not having them. Anyway, I have never had anything that was bad from here. Burgers are great, gyros are great, bbq rib sammy is mmm mmm goodness, pizza puffs a classic. Try em out, good eats right there!!!
google avatar

Joe W.

Yelp
Food was good. Hospitality was terrible. I had a beautiful lady taking my order. But unfortunately her manners are ugly. She had to of rolled her eyes twice because I asked simple questions. I am new to this restaurant and am unsure if I want to eat there again. I mentioned my experience to a coworker when I went back to work and he mentioned his bad experience there as well. Not sure if she hates her job or she consistently has bad days. But she shouldn't treat customers with that. Leave that crap at home or to themselves. But like I said. Food was good and fast. And if you don't mind rudeness. Then this is a place for you.

Yelp
Holy crap - what a find! Greasy, delicious, goodness... I make my way out to Plainfield every so often because I have family that lives out there. My sister mentioned we order from Doggie Diner for dinner, and I have to say I was a little hesitant. Boy was I glad I pushed aside my urge to resist her recommendation. Now every time I am out there, I beg for us to order from there. I struggle because I also want to try everything, but it's too hard to order anything other than the gyro since I love it so much. If in Plainfield (or surrounding area) I HIGHLY recommend trying this place out.

Aman R.

Yelp
Well...food is great. But I will never go back...I was denied water. Lady working the front counter told us there is one refill limit for all drinks including WATER! Really??
google avatar

Ben B.

Yelp
I'm the duke? oh dear, what has this world come to?! I've been a fan, I used to frequent the other location when living in Woodridge as well. I haven't had a bad meal here, but was slightly creeped out on one of my last visits. Did you know that polish sausage is cooked in the deep fryer? Yuck! I know that it is by no means a healthy choice for a meal, but that image cannot be shaken from my mind...

Rita N.

Yelp
8/12/2020 - Katering By Kristie/DOGGIE Dinner: We have used Katering By Kristie in the past (typically, for large family parties). We would order trays of pasta and salads, which were always excellent. We recently hosted a family baby shower. Due to Covid, we felt it was best to have individual sandwich boxes for our guests. Kristie outdid herself. We requested a variety of sandwiches. Each sandwich came in a clear plastic box with pasta salad and fruit. Each box was clearly marked. The sandwiches were excellent. We receive so may compliment regarding the food. Guests were very impressed with the pasta salad. Kristie made ordering very easy and delivery was made at the requested time.

Yelp
I freaking love this place. When you're in the mood for good old fashioned greasy food, this is the place to be.

Allen A.

Yelp
Today I gave them a $20 bill for $8.63 Gyros Plate Meal and they gave me back only $2 dollars and some change. I assumed that one of the dollars was a ten. However, when I got home I discovered that it was not. I called them back to straighten out the discrepancy and they stated "since I left the store they could not help me". I've been going there for years and usually paying with a credit card and today I pay with cash and find out they are dishonest. Watch your money at this place. I am Allen A-(Naperville, IL.) who went to the Plainfield, IL Store on Route 59 and made this purchase July 21, 2018 approximately 3:50 PM. It seems you lost a good customer.

Yelp
My gyro was dry, tough meat (like rawhide, beef jerky) fortunately I dined in and returned it to the chef so it was replaced. It churned in my stomach which 'rejected' it over several painful hours. I suspect the large spit of meat in hot temperatures must have made the meat rancid. So disappointed as I love these Vienna Hot Dog stands that are disappearing, place was clean, prices good but very poor value if you're sick all night, I have never given negative review of restaurant before but hope owners address this health issue.

Bruh 1.

Yelp
Come here often, Hospitality is beyond amazing. They value your time here. The food is great, never fails to amaze. The food is never cold and always stays consistent on the quality of the food. The restaurant is very clean aswell, you can tell they have their priorities straight.

Jeevan R.

Yelp
Very disappointed with food and service. It was our first time ordering food for carryout. When reached back home our order was totally wrong. When tried to call them, the phone number listed on the receipt was for different locations. Another location gave the right number. When called them owner was there. He put us hold for several times. Our order suppose to include greek fries with first order but they gave us regular fries. When we ask him to give us the greek fries with correcting other problem he refuses to do that. It was only maybe 50 cents difference, but he refused to do that. We even told him that we are the new customer just for the courtesy you should include that. But the answer was no. It shows how much they care for customers. The first time will be the last time for us. There are so many choices we have on the Rt. 59 for food, we need to avoid this kind of food places. If you want to try Gyros goto Gemato's wood pit BBQ in Naperville. We have been going there for 25 years.

Nicole W.

Yelp
Should have went to Savinos, $11.25 and half the food you receive there. Food cold and meat presliced and not from a spit. Sauce is pretty much just sour cream. Fries are good and they have green river.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
I have been going to Doggie Diner for many years. My absolute favorite item on the menu is the Diners Hamburger. Instead of a bun, the burger is in a pita. The fries are delicious as well. We have also used their catering service which is wonderful.

Deanna B.

Yelp
Stopped here for the first time recently. Fries... amazing! There's some kind of seasoning (not too much though) that makes them so scrumptious! I had an Italian Beef that was the size of my face. :) Pretty well seasoned and juicy. Plus they're open long hours and have very reasonable prices for the proportions you get. I just found my new ""on the way to work" joint. I'm ecstatic.

Yelp
This place used to be the shizznit... But now: WORST GYRO EVER. I asked for a gyro well done. How hard is it to cook the meat a little longer? It came out cooked like a regular sandwich, which just shows me u don't care about ur customers preference. On top of that the pita wasn't warm and was falling apart. And the sauce SUCKS! It's runny and looks more like soup than tzatziki
