These guys get 5 stars for how loving, kind and friendly they were to my baby. I felt so safe leaving him in their care, and want to acknowledge that.
And their wonderful manner notwithstanding, I'm not thrilled with the cut. His body looks great, but his face and head... not so much. I didn't say anything because they were so nice, and also because I didn't get a good look at his face until we got in the car. That's when I realized how choppy his head and face were. I'm guessing perhaps he didn't sit still and it was difficult to groom him, and it seemed we had differing interpretations of our conversation.
We had agreed that since he was only 6 months they wouldn't cut his hair and only do a "little trim" on his face and sanitary. For this reason I neglected to show any pictures of what I wanted, because I didn't think he was getting any sort of true haircut. I figured a "trim" meant like when I get a trim -- maybe 1/4 inch off my existing style. Apparently that's not the case -- and since I'm a first time dog owner, and this was my baby's first groom, I didn't realize it.
Sadly, they cut much of the hair off of his face and head, though his body hair was left long. So my dog has a mullet, and his face looks quite different. He's still cute -- cause he's just cute -- but the cut doesn't seem breed-appropriate (IMHO). He's a shitzu poodle mix with long shitzu style face / head hair that I used to be able to pull up into a cute top knot. Now that hair is all gone, and what's left is short and choppy, and goes from short on his forehead to long on his neck and back, without any graduation of the cut.
I also want to note that they did a beautiful job on his brush out and groom -- he was soft and fluffy and smelled amazing. I wish I just had had him groomed, no trim. I think I would have been thrilled with that.
