Doko Sushi

My family and I have been coming to Doko Sushi for the past few years. Food is excellent and service is fast. Try their Doko special which comes with soup, protein like salmon, sushi and sashimi. The best value. And you get to enjoy a complete meal. They do not cut corners on the quality of their sushi and sashimi like some other restaurants. It’s a family run business and they care about their customers. Here is my review on another visit: We had a great experience at Doko Sushi in Tarzana. The food was fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. We tried the **Albacore Delight Roll** and the **Salmon Lover Roll**, both of which were delicious — perfectly seasoned with quality fish and a nice balance of texture and taste. We also ordered the **Doko Lunch Special**, which came with sashimi, sushi, grilled salmon, and soup. Everything was fresh and satisfying — a generous and well-rounded meal that really showcased the chef’s attention to detail. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, making it a nice spot to enjoy good sushi without the crowds or noise. Overall, Doko Sushi is a hidden gem in Tarzana — excellent food, great value, and a calm, welcoming vibe. Highly recommended.

The food was amazing they have their sushi is very tasty has a good kick of it. Their yakitori is really good and David will give you the best service. You should try this place. You won't regret it.

Food is great, a little pricey. Service is good. It takes the chef very long to make the sushi even when no one is in the restaurant.

2024 update: Prices have definitely gone up, 50-75% over 3 years I’d say. Yes it goes up everywhere, and it’s worth it here. But we sadly can’t come as often anymore. Doko for the win again. What an amazing place. They are SO generous in portion size, and the quality is as good as sashimi gets.

Good food, fresh seafood. Their sashimi is delicious. Got salmon collar, it was baked exactly how i wanted. White Hawaiian rolls, Hawaiian rolls, Midori rolls,and Yokohama were delicious. Highly recommended. Good service 👍

Relatively inexpensive place but the sushi is very good. The ambiance is ok but for the price and quality i feel it's perfect for a casual meal with family and friends. The staff is very nice too.

Always a great experience eating in this restaurant. Got the lobster sushi roll is so delicious...sweet savory and flavourful... we also tried crunchy roll and snow cone and they are equally good..For those who like spicy, have a tase of their chooces of curry plates. We got the chicken curry. Very filling. Sorry wasnt able to take pictures of the others. Maybe on our next visit.

We love this place… before the name change to Doko Sushi, it was Crazy Tokyo Sushi… the food is always been great & made fresh. Price is good as well. The service is phenomenal. Place is always clean… parking is a challenge but it’s ok you’ll find one… once you get in you’ll be in good mood having your tummy satisfied with the delicious food & excellent service. I've been ordering from Doko Sushi consistently for 5 years now, and let me just say--they are absolute MASTERS. I'm a sashimi lover, and this is the only spot in LA that consistently delivers fresh, melt-in-your-mouth cuts every single time. No weird textures, no off days--just straight-up quality. Their tempura? Always crispy, never soggy. Their rolls? Fantastic. Flavorful, balanced, and beautifully done. At this point, I will literally never order sushi from anywhere else. Doko has ruined other sushi spots for me--in the best way possible.

Came here with my mom to have dinner last week. It was around 7:30pm and we were the only customers in the restaurant. It was our first time here. I found them on Yelp while in the area. It had good reviews so we gave them a try. Overall it was good, some rolls better than others. We had three rolls my favorite was the white Hawaiian roll. The other two were ok. The customer service was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is a bit dated, with very simple decor. We came on a very slow night so the ambiance was dull. Maybe if it was busy and loud it would change things a bit. Will give them a try again soon when I'm in the area.

We went to Doko Sushi last night for dinner. My grandson had the teriyaki chicken with rice and miso soup. It also came with a salad. He is a teriyaki lover and said he loved it. My daughter-in-law had two veggie rolls and loved them too. She doesn't eat any meat or seafood and said the rolls were packed with veggies. My husband and I split two rolls, the special salmon roll and white Hawaii roll. The fish was so fresh and the rolls were very tasty. My son ordered crispy rice with tuna on top. I didn't get a picture of that but I tried one and the crispy rice was very good. I have never had crispy rice before and it is something I will always order in the future. If you haven't tried Doko Sushi in Los Angeles it is a must!

My mom loves the lobster roll from here. They bake it so perfectly and it's full of flavor. They have good quality fresh sushi as well. Love their salmon and yellowtail. They always prepare promptly and are so kind! Love this place

I used to go to this place when it was crazy Tokyo it changed years ago to Doko Sushi. I thought I would give it a try. The restaurant itself was nice. The servers were friendly however, when we received our order, the sushi was all stuck together so when you try to grab a piece, everything falls apart. The rice on the sushi was super sticky so you couldn't grab one piece flavor wise it was just OK nothing spectacular. I did report it to management and they did give me a credit for the sushi that wasn't right. There is just too many sushi places out there that are better. And to add my Wife and I both got sick after eating there!

Such a good sushi restaurant, came here on a date didn't disappoint, try the lemon roll!!

I ordered this for delivery. I was craving sushi but it was late around 9pm so I hoped to get it delivered. The food was made fast and came very fast. I ordered the baby lobster roll. It was warm and savory. I enjoyed it. I also got the miso soup so it did the trick of warming me up at night. The presentation of the sushi was very nice and everything looked good. Everything was so tasty and well made so I will order again. I also liked that I got the ginger, wasabi , and chopsticks in the order because some places do not automatically give condiments and utensils any more.

1st here and I must say my kids and I were very pleased. Family owned, service was great, fish was fresh and tasty. Sorry for posting only 1 photo, we dove right in and forgot all about taking pics . But I'll be back for these so stay tuned ...

Food, service and expectation was great. It was slow the time we arrived but overall their quick. We started off with Spicy edamame. We recommend the Japanese beer asahi, very smooth. Food has no "fishy" taste and smell. Very enjoyable.

THE BEST Sushi I've found near me in all of my 7 years here! I am a Sushi fanatic with insanely high standards! I judge on freshness, variety and staff excellence. With so many venues to choose from (and I've tried them all in this area) Doku Sushi remains my TOP choice. I always feel so satisfied, and not weighed down after eating here.

Tuna crispy rice was really good! Great background music too. Really good service! Was not very busy on a Saturday at lunch time.

Service is super nice, very pleasant and attentive staff. Its great lunch spot, but the quality of sushi used to be better 2 years ago. Still a good place to check out if craving sushi in the valley

I'm visit LA and my friends decided to take me out. This place was the only one in the area that was open until 10pm. We sat down, ordered quickly because last call was 9:30pm. The brought the food out within mins and we got to enjoy every bit. The fish was fresh and very delicious. Everything on the table was pretty much gone by the end of the evening. The employees didn't rush us to finish up to leave. They were really kind enough to let us enjoy our evening. Would love to go back to this place!

Just moved back to the valley after being away for 4 years and had no idea where to get sushi. We tried 2 different places that had no tables available but before we gave up on our sushi craving we decided to give it one more try and stumbled in to Doko! Thank goodness we did, because it was DELICIOUS!!! The fish was fresh, the rolls actually had shrimp and all the good stuff in them and were not all rice (like many other places). The sauces and toppings were all very yummy. The place was very roomy, enough tables to sit more than a couple parties, it was very clean, the menu had so many options, which I love because I like to try new rolls all the time, and the staff were great with their customer service. Overall, I totally think we were meant to come here because this is definitely going to be our sushi spot from now on. Highly recommend for all you sushi lovers!!!

This is my neighborhood joint and it is the best place to unwind after a day at work. The only downside is there is always a child making too much noise which does not bring me joy, but the food is delicious always. The staff is so nice. The food always hits the spot.

How do you have a lobster hand roll for $10.50 and no Shrimp hand roll on the menu but when I asked if you can make a shrimp hand roll he said he can make it it will be $12.50 . Now how in the hell is shrimp cost more than lobster ? Because it's not on the menu ? It should be weirdos lol duhhh And so I ordered the lobster hand roll and it taste like the lobster was old . I will never go to this spot again !!

Food here is solid. I ordered to-go and for a quick dinner night with my 3 yo daughter. What we got: Salmon Skin Salad, Blue crab roll, avocado roll. All of it was pretty good. The salad was tasty, but I didn't really enjoy the salad dressing it comes with. The blue crab roll was oozing with crab. Nicely done. The avocado roll had big chunks of avocado making this one solid too. I would return. Not necessarily in a hurry, but for a night when I'm in a pinch and want something quick, healthy-ish and ok for me and the little. Sorry I didn't get any pictures of our food before we ate it. Presentation was however great too.

Realized that I never did a review but have been here several times. This is my go to neighborhood sushi place. Great place to come for a Sunday lunch with the family. They have yelp wait list which is always good with a big party like ours. So many choices of you want sushi, hot food, appetizers and the staff is so friendly. For appetizers- get the yellowtail collar, crispy skin and moist fish. So good and enough for a few people to pick at or eat by yourself. Sushi- you can go wrong with anything you order. Fish is fresh and they don't over do it with rice which is perfect. The pieces on the sashimi special were super generous. Shrimp scampi roll, lobster roll and white Hawaiian are so good!

The sushi was very good. Ordered sushi combo 2 to get a sense of it and it was all very good. The rolls seemed larger than I'm used to which was nice to know for next visit. Everything else was also good but the food was the star.

I've been going to Dojo for as long as they have been open prior to the dreaded pandemic days...Dojo has been consistently one of the best Japanese restaurants I have been to hands down! Art and his amazing to team never cease to amaze me with their service, food and ambiance! When I go there, I am treated and feel like family.

Food is great! This is my go to Sushi restaurant in the Valley. Quality is good. I highly recommend the seared spicy salmon sushi. Mmmmm.

Wow was this place good! I heard about it from a friend when I first moved out this way, but didn't have a chance to try it until now. It was some of the best sushi I have had in a while. They created a cute outdoor tent for outdoor dining, and it doesn't even feel like you are in a parking lot. The food pricing was pretty standard. The portions were great and flavors were off the hook! What I ordered: Tuna sushi Albacore Sushi Yellowtail Sushi Albacore Delight Roll- SO FLAVORFUL! My favorite of the night. I would highly recommend this roll Colorado Roll Yellowtail lover roll All of the sushi was fresh (I am really pick about it being top notch freshness). the ponzu and yuzu sauces packed a punch! Do note though that the rolls can be spicy when listed spicy so be careful. 10/10 would recommend and can't wait to go back!

The food is fresh, the variety is poor. I really wanted ramen, they did not have any. Shishito where poorly fried, they kindly refried them per request. No Deserts ) service was "ok". Did not touch my heart but he only thing we really liked is their "lion king" sushi-must try! We will continue to look for our spot, definitely not this one.

Out of all the places in the valley, Doko Sushi is probably top five if not top three. Always fresh, always great service, great ambience. We love coming here for a quick bite or an occasion.

Great quality. Great prices. & great service. This is a total "Hole in the wall" gem. My two friends who love this area both recommended this spot so I had to try it! I got the lunch special and it came with so much! You will leave feeling full and satisfied! Also try the yellow tail collar - yum. It does take about 15 to 20 minutes so only if you have time.

Doko sushi was such a pleasent neighborhood surprise! The fish was very fresh. The snapper was excellent, and so was the hamachi. The scallops were also great. There was one specialty roll that had jalapeno and yuzuthat was so balanced, bright, and lemony! The salmon skin handroll was the best I have ever had. The restaurant was busy and staff was limited, but the service was still very good. Definitely will be going back.

Food was very average. My favorite thing was the albacore sashimi with crispy onions. Everything else was on par with Kabuki but more costly. $90 for 3 people. Just water to drink. Not horrible but won't be rushing back

The neighborhood spot is pretty pretty pretty pretty good. The menu's about status quo for what you'd find. Everything's fresh and tasty. The spicy Tuna on cracker is Exceptional though. The spicy tuna itself, actually "does" have a nice kick of heat, which is often lacking elsewhere. Also great is the "Yellowtail Lovers" roll. I think the Yuzu sauce does it for me. The mexican roll is "ok," not my favorite. Tempura is good, and the yellowtail collar is great. Glad the spot's here. Also......p.s., a huge plus, the staff is great, polite, and attentive.!

Happen to come across this sushi place as we were driving by. The place was pretty empty when we showed up for dinner on a Wednesday, I was a bit worried about the freshness considering it wasn't busy. We ordered the garlic edamame, which was really good, nice and hot too, it was different from what we normally have had because it also had a bit of sweetness in it. Next time I'll order it lighter on the spice because that part was a bit too much for me. We liked how they had traditional sushi rolls we order at other places but they added their own twist to it. The Albacore with crispy onion on top was really good, we liked that it had actual onion strips and not crumbles like other sushi places have. The Spicy tuna over crispy rice was good but it had a lot of spicy tuna on top, that was ok for me but not my favorite. The sushi at this restaurant tasted freshly cooked. It was clean and the service was great. We would definitely return.

Hands down the best sushi place ever! Service is great, it's family owned and the family is so sweet! I've been going for years. Fish is fresh and so delicious. I'm obsessed with sushi and been to many such places including fancy ones. I can say this place is the best, my kids love it, and I love it. I would highly recommend to try it and won't be disappointed I guarantee. I'm coming back very soon! And we always get a treat from the chef we are regular customers.

I love Japanese food a lot but I'm very picky about everything lol This place has amazing service,clean place and the most important fresh and delicious food!!! Somehow it's not busy here which I'm surprised. They've big choice of food. I recommend this place if you're picky like me))) Thanks guys for great and quick service and for delicious food!

Spacious sushi spot with good sushi! We always get a table without reservations. We really like their Spicy tuna on crispy rice, White Hawaiian roll and Lobster roll.

Wow, found a lowkey sushi joint on Ventura that wasn't too busy. We went on a weekday and got sat quickly the staff was so nice and I told them it was our first time and was very satisfied with our experience. The sushi is fresh, the portions are good, the curry is even really good! The fish stole the show with the cut and freshness and the rice portion wasn't too much. Getting the sushi combo is probably your best bet if you're not too much into rolls. Great deal. We're locals so well def be back!
