The best experience. The food was amazing!!! I got the barbecue beef don and it’s my absolute favorite. The miso soup was amazing and all my friends I was there with loved everything. Can’t wait to go back and try more things!

We’ve been to Dokyo 4 times now, and unfortunately our most recent meal left much to be desired. The fish didn’t seem as fresh as in the past, the timing of brining the dishes out was erratic, and most of our meal was limited in flavor. The lemon flavor on the Seppuku was really good, but the rind being on the roll was tough to chew through and really took away from the bite. Service was great, but the atmosphere was a bit low energy.

To start with, the atmosphere is super cool and modern, I got sat in the private room and it was the most AMAZING experience! The food is even better, not one dish we’re unsatisfied. The Lobster submarine is PHENOMENAL!! Packed with flavor and lobster meat, definitely a surprise. The bulgogi fries, spicy tuna crispy rice, and chicken teriyaki are all delicious. Can’t wait to come back to try more as this had became one of my favorite spot in Corpus!

Went for lunch. Service was excellent. Sushi rolling technique was either lacking or they are trying to put too many ingredients in a roll. Fell apart easily. Atmosphere was too dark. I'm not a fan of all the black. Feel like it helps cover up a dirty a restaurant. Sanitizer bottles on each table could use some sanitizing.

Everything is very well presented and tasted amazing, all the staffs were greeting us the second we walked in and it feels super welcoming. Services were great as well. If you’re a sushi lover don’t hesitate to come here!

Had such an amazing tasting of sushi rolls and a top notch Smoked Emperor Old Fashion 🥃 The Elote, 😋😋😋 We love Fois Gras! The slivers were cooked to perfection but were surprised at the mrkt pricing 🤔 that we a first for me.

My first visit on Valentine’s Day. Wonderful atmosphere. The food was delicious but the salmon was a little raw for my liking. Somehow someway the chef noticed me picking at it and they remade me the entire dish! That’s the first time that’s ever happened to me and it was really incredible! I can’t wait to go back!

Dimitri was our server tonight while we had a huge group of 9 he was very attentive and very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu items as well!

Amazing! Hands down some of the best sushi in town, and soft shell crab. Fried ice cream is amazing!

Very quiet and nice atmosphere. A nice place for a date or business lunch. Lots of sushi and sashimi choices. Also has some Bento Box choices. Nice bar. Beautiful mural on the side of the building, a must for picture taking.

Seems like a good idea to make a reservation. We got lucky with a seat right away,but heard the wait time going up to 45 min.To me it seemed like a tight fit with seating. I thought the anime movies playing were a nice touch. We started with the calamari, but didn't eat it because it was overcooked there was no different in texture from the squid to the coating.The two specialty rolls were very good.Other things that stood out to me were the oysters and cocktails but we did not try either.

What a fantastic place! The vibe was really cool, and I absolutely loved my waitress--she was sweet and incredibly helpful. For drinks, we tried the lemon drop martini and the amazing paradise cocktail, and both were a hit! The firecracker appetizer was my favorite! I adore Hawaiian cuisine, and it reminded me of poke, which is one of my absolute favorites. I devoured every bite! For my main dish, I ordered the combo fried rice. It was just okay; I can't say I would order it again. It didn't taste very fresh, and all the meat was quite bland. All in all I will def be back to try the sushi!

Food is wonderful and reasonably priced! I'm surprised that I just found this place.

Considering the reviews, I was both underwhelmed and disappointed. I was excited to try out this restaurant, given that they have items listed as "vegan"' on their website. However, the "vegan fried rice" isn't vegan....it has oyster sauce and egg in it. On DoorDash they have an item listed as "vegan yakisoba" and the noodles are egg noodles....again, not vegan. The tofudo roll wasn't very good and after modifying the rice to make it vegan, it also was underwhelming. The server was very nice but it was clear he didn't understand what vegan vs vegetarian is.

Me again! Tried some new stuff for lunch today. The crab roll with no seeds or cucumber sub soy paper YUMMMY! So fresh and fluffy. We also got the dancing crab roll add cream cheese and YUMM! So good seriously! We ordered delivery

The sushi was extremely flavorful & the presentation was great. The M5 Wagyu was good but overpriced for what it was. But overall I'd come back to try more of their menu. The service was very polite & the food was out quick. Very modern Japanese vibe

Great atmosphere. Sat at the bar and has some excellent recommendations from the bar tender, Skyler. Started with the chef's special calamari oyster. This was by recommendation and has such a wonderful depth of flavor. Then tried the Chicken Shitake Gyoza (forgot to take a pic) which was such a wonderful small plate style teaser. Next enjoyed the sumo bulgogi fries which were out of this world. Finished the night off with another recommendation from Skyler of the house baked oyster. The presentation of the last oyster was fun and the flavor combination gave your palette a sense of good old comfort food without being too much or too rich. I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling in the area or the locals. Go support this wonderful restaurant and amazing people!!

Nice and chill atmosphere with great music. Definitely suggest making a reservation. Order placed quickly but I did notice it takes a bit longer than expected for food to come out. Other than that the sushi is excellent and the drinks are well made.

We got seated right away for our reservation, but that was one of the few things that went well. They forgot to bring us extra tofu for the soup. They forgot to bring the hot water for the tea. They brought out one of the 3 dishes and did NOT bring the other two out so we had to wait 10 minutes for all the food to be brought out BEFORE we began eating. The chicken tasted very rubbery so we didn't finish it. It was very loud in here and hard to hear each other.

I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday and we were utterly disappointed. We ordered 3 drinks, 1 appetizer, 1 entree ( they failed to mention the other one we ordered was still frozen 30 mins later), and 2 rolls and the total came out to $142 ??? The rolls were mediocre and the pork belly was not very good. The server was very nice but that was about it. He told me the spicy bulgogi was actually pork belly but the regular bulgogi is beef ??? A lot of confusion on the meal and coming as a Korean person, the korean food is not good. I felt really bad bringing my boyfriend here for his birthday. The star goes to our waiter.

Great service and the sushi did not disappoint. Went during lunch and the Queen Mango roll and Mango Salmon Poke was so good! Will definitely be back when we are in town! My only thing I didn't like is during the day the one side of the restaurant we were sat on was very dark and dim. Overall a fantastic experience!

Myself and my partner visited Dokyo for a Friday night date. The vibes were good, music was loud but not too loud that you couldn't enjoy conversation. The lights were low but colourful. We split spicy edamame, the fresh paradise (daily special), queen mango (daily special), ebi and kani flash roll, California roll, and crab roll. Our food was great, it didn't take long to come out and was very flavourful. The service was also great, the server ensured we were topped on waters and came back to check on us frequently. The special rolls were a bit pricey but we will definitely return.

Very nice hosts at the front, not a long wait for our reservation. Not very loud but busy. Great cocktails, and amazing food specials and tasty foods for all people. Our waiter was so sweet, and just amazing to get us everything and anything we needed. Very clean place from dining area to sushi bar to the restrooms.

This was our 4th time to Dokyo and I was so excited for it. Sadly, it was a terrible experience. Our server was non-existant. Our food did not come out anywhere near the same time so we could not eat together and the food was just not good. We got the amigos roll and the pieces were so huge you had to cut them in half to eat them. The bulgogi came with no rice and hardly any beef. The chicken katsu was inedible. It was a first time for one of our party and sadly she did not get the good experience we have had before. If it was a second string chef situation, please train the person better.

Fantastic food, service, and cocktails. The geisha martini is an experience in itself, and delicious. We ordered the spicy garlic edamame, which was delicious. Our 3 rolls were each excellent. The spider roll is always a favorite. Jackson, our server was great. The restaurant is trendy, with a hipster vibe. It could be both a romantic date night or a fun group night.

I have been coming to Corpus for work weekly since January and I am so disappointed I did not find this place sooner! I have now been back here every week that I'm in town and look forward to it every time. This place is so clean and the staff is friendly every single visit. The Chicken Fried Rice has to be the best fried rice I've had it a very long time. The portion itself is huge for what you pay for. The rice is cooked to perfection and they even put a fresh egg on top. I also recently tried a few of the craft cocktails they have and you will not be disappointed in those either. I have not yet had the sushi but a few co workers did and thought it was great. The only downside for some is that the menu is on a QR code. They do have tablets available for easier reading as well.

My second time at Dokyo, I used to rave about this place and recommend it to anyone visiting. I'm not sure if there is new management but there has been a tremendous shift in the service and dining experience. Not only was the host greeting and service subpar, but we didn't receive one of the items we ordered that still showed up on the check. Unfortunately I can no longer keep this on my list of recommended spots for corpus visitors.

So good! The vibe in the restaurant was so nice! it was a bit dark inside though. The korean chicken wings were REALLY GOOD, the breading was crunchy and flavorful. They have a lot of variety in their menu it was so hard picking what to get but I definitely recommend trying this place :-)

Dark, could barely see what I was eating. Nats were driving us crazy. Not sure why there were so many nats. Food is not bad. Service. Waiter was nice but not the best wait staff.

We walked in and I was very surprised, but in a good way! I was not expecting a hip, happening place when we walked up but it was very nice. There atmosphere was more "hipster" but I wouldn't say it was overwhelming by any means. There were cool drinks on the menu and cool music being played. The food was also very good and fresh. The menu was big but we were able to go through it and everything we tried was very good. The dumplings were good, salad was good, and the several rolls we got were very good. I would definitely go back when in the area.

Great cocktails, great food and great service...so good that we came here two nights in a row! We had a variety of sushi rolls, BBQ roll, tofu soup and kalbi. All very good! One of the gals in our party is Korean and she said that the banchan is very properly prepared! Highly recommend the avocado bomb, ecstasy roll and New England roll! The cocktail menu is extensive and so many tasty choices...reason for us to come back the second night! Will come back for sure next time I am in town!

We decided to come here on a whim one night for date night. We didn't know on Friday and Saturday's it was mainly reservations only...? Luckily we were able to get a couple seats at the sushi bar. It would have been nice to have a table, but we weren't complaining. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful! I wanted to try out one of their cocktails and she was able to pinpoint something I'd enjoy. She recommended the Monsoon. It had tequila, orange, lime, sangria, rimmed with black salt and an edible flower. The drink was delicious and strong, and the presentation was beautiful. I ordered a seaweed salad to start, a little disappointing. It was very little seaweed and more cucumbers which was odd to me. We also got complimentary miso soup, nothing too exciting about it. Most places I go to always seem to skimp out on the tofu... the waitress also recommended the gyoza and it was good. Never a bad choice. We ordered a ton of sushi. We were a little taken aback when ordering t the Dokyo Bridge. It feeds two people, a lot of food for sure. When we usually order these meals for two we kind of expect it to be served on a bridge... hence Dokyo Bridge. To our surprise it was just on a simple white square place, we usually enjoy the little details for the experience. It had nigiri, two rolls, and sashimi. On the menu it said it would have spicy tuna, but there was none of that on the plate. The fish was good. My husband also ordered the Kamikaze roll and he enjoyed it. Also got the Masago nigiri, and a couple more pieces of sashimi. The sweet shrimp wasn't good at all. Just my honest opinion. One thing that did annoy us was that our Dokyo "bridge" was sitting right next to me, and we assumed it was ours. It had been sitting for about 10 minutes or so, nobody claimed it until we asked our waitress where it was and the sushi chef pointed at it. He could have simply just given it to us.... It was just sitting there... Our waitress was sweet, she noticed we didn't finish our sushi so she packed it up for us and put extra ginger, wasabi, soy sauce, and chopsticks. Most places don't do little things like that when there's leftovers.

This was our first time at this restaurant and we were not super impressed. The food and drinks were good but the service was slow. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our server and we were about to leave when our server came. Then after we ordered we saw our food ready on the bar top for a long time but our server didn't bring it to us until we waved her down and asked for it. I'm glad we went but we probably wouldn't go again.

Stopped by on a Saturday night while visiting some friends down in Corpus. We were looking for a place to get a nice dinner and they said they had to take us here while we were in town! So, we made a reservation online and headed there that night. When we arrived, unfortunately the host claimed she didn't have our reservation on file for some reason, which was frustrating but we were still able to get a table. We were sat at a half booth-half table right in front of the kitchen doors. Service wasn't great and our server was a little slow. Granted, they were busy but still. We ordered a few cocktails, a beer and a bottle of sake to share. The cocktails were great! We also each ordered a bowl of miso soup and some apps to share. The gyoza were good, but pretty standard. I was surprised that I enjoyed the spring rolls more. The sauce was so good! We ordered a couple of entrees, some sashimi, and a lot of sushi rolls. I didn't love the sashimi and have definitely had better but everything else I thought was good! I love the convenient location, being right downtown and walking distance from a few bars (where we went afterwards) but thought service could be better. They also had a dog sitting right at the host stand!? It was really cute but not sure if it belongs in a restaurant, lol. Overall, I'd definitely come here again! If my friends are reading this, shout out for the recommendation!

The food here was great! Flavor and portion was just perfect! The service was quick and our waiter was very attentive. As for the ambiance it wasn't too loud or too quiet. I recommend this for a quick girls night or a date night.

My best friend just had to bring me here while on vacation - the place is conveniently located downtown. The vibe as soon as you walk in is dim lights, good music and smiles all around. The staff is very kind and sweet, multiple staff members checked up on us and I respect that! The strawberry horchata cocktail was a drink our server picked out for me and it did not disappoint! I loved it! The sushi rolls were also very tasty but the pork belly I will dream about. Overall such a cute vibe, great staff and delicious food. Will beg my friend to take me here once I come back to Corpus!!

I have loved Dokyo for a long time but apparently they have outgrown their ability to provide to deliver. We came in for dinner on a Saturday night and it took an hour for one round of drinks and some cold appetizers. Kil - get back to basics and focus on quality otherwise you're going to see your investment drop in value.

Dokyo Dauntaun never fails to impress me! We went here for our anniversary and it was a great experience. Their crafted cocktails are to die for! Had the mafia roll and the lobster & pork belly fried rice and everything was delicious!

We were impressed the first few times we came. The place started out strong. We sat and got told that they were running out of sushi... we waited 2 hours to receive subpar rolls & I only say this because we came here a lot when it first opened. Their menu didn't match what was available either (not just from running out of sushi). I asked about a few rolls, and it wasn't an option (she said the menu was outdated). It used to be outstanding and authentic. The edemame was severely undercooked, so I can't even find a positive. It was really overpriced overall. The staff was kind, so there's that.

to me over priced. but for a date it would be ok. the waiter and waitress were good for helping but i haven't been there since before covid

We finally tried it and it was terrible. They are way over priced with small portions and they serve mostly farmed seafood from Asia. The service was also lacking. We will never go back.

I ordered the combination fried rice, which was supposed to be steak, chicken, and shrimp. My plate took over 35 minutes to come out and all my friends had finished their food by the time I got mine. The plate also only has about 3 pieces of shrimp and barely any steak. I payed extra compared to the normal fried rice. So it was basically a rip off. All my other friends food was delicious so I'm very disappointed.

the food was amazing and we were greeted with our server and he was very nice but he was a little awkward not in a bad way just in a weird way lol. the place was dead when we went but if jt was busy it might be hard to find parking since it's in downtown.

Great staff, great Covid precautions, sanitization, and temp checks. It's been around for a bit but we had not been able to stop by. Finally came in on a Friday at opening time, 5pm. Our waitress was super sweet and made great recommendations on our apps, drinks, entree, and dessert. We had the spicy garlic edamame, which was tasty. I can't recall the name of our drinks but both very well balanced and great taste. I know hubby had whiskey. Lol! We had a plate that was for two but I can't recall the name. It was pork that came with 5 small sides but definitely filling. Also had the fried cheesecake and it's a MUST TRY! If you are in the downtown area, you must definitely stop at this new gem. You won't be disappointed!

Dokyo still turns out a good sushi experience. Their beef Don is a great options for non-bait eaters. The new management has changed the entire staff a couple of times. It has turned into "the place to be seen" more than a good sushi bar. Their prices are the highest in Corpus. The service has become unbearable and that's saying a lot there's days. Kil and his mother do a great job with the food but the new shine is gone.

Christian is by far the friendliest server and made me feel so accepted and special. The Drinks were amazing and the spicy edamame is a good serving size. Everyone here was so friendly and fun, very great environment and clean. highly recommend checking out if you enjoy a nice cocktail or a true mixologist experience. They have skills at making delicious drinks and good food. The vibes that are gave off here are very delicate and romantic but with a casual twist to welcome everyone. Can't wait to go back!

Guess who's back in a new city for work!!!! I actually have a friend who lives in town and wanted to catch up over some food and drinks. She suggested Dokyo Dauntaun and since I love me some sushi I was down. It's in the small downtown area and there's not actually a parking lot for the restaurant but there was definitely street parking. We had reservations and I got there a little early and was seated promptly. My table was still dirty and it was cleaned right away. I started off with a drinky drink of course and being a tequila girl, I went with the Monsoon. Super tasty and it did just the job to help me relax some. When my friend arrived we started off the spring rolls which were good nothing too write home about. We also had the gyoza fried and kind of tasted like they were frozen. I decided to try the geisha which is one of their popular drinks and definitely worth the hype! The star of the show for me was the yakisoba with chicken. Honestly some of the best noodles I've had in awhile. Definitley a great portion size. Overall this place is good for a girls night or a date night. And I'll definitely be back for the happy hour vibes!

I absolutely love this place! I got there a little before their midday break but they were happy to serve me and everything was quick! I originally picked this spot for lunch for the Geisha cocktail. They weren't sure they could make it since they thought there bubble maker wasn't working but thankfully it was! The drink was delicious and strong, plus it looked super cool. My sushi was also amazing. I got several rolls and loved them all. I cannot wait to go back! The atmosphere was really nice, kinda modern. We sat at the sushi bar and were able to watch them making all the rolls. That was pretty neat! Our waiter was eager to help us out and gave us some good suggestions on appetizers. The food was excellent, fresh and scrumptious! Down side, to be seated, they work off of reservations unless open bar seating is available. We came in and that was said to us however, there was another party that had come in and didn't have a reservation that was seated at a table/booth. They didn't have a reservation. We heard them say they didn't and then the staff sat them in an open booth. Kinda crappy for sure!

The restaurant appears to be moving away from the Korean side of their menu. I asked for 4 Korean dishes from the menu, but they told me each time that they didn't have that. I sat at the bar (which is set with plate and chopsticks), but the staff wasn't very informed about the food or even the drinks. It seems like a decent sushi restaurant, but the prices are higher than they need to be, and without good Korean options, they don't stand out. Extra points off for keeping the outdated menu (bait and switch).

Sushi is small in size and kinda overpriced for such tiny portions particularly the nigiri. Also, definitely not enough vinegar in the sushi rice the rice has no flavor. Great drinks and customer service, however, but very pricy.

It was ok, not what I expected the way everyone was raving about. Yakisoba was overly sweet. Spicy tuna roll was Eh, Godzilla roll was great. Wasabi had no bite to it at all. Just ok sushi pretty much. Staff is good.

Great Service and our server recommended great food as well! We will definitely be coming back to enjoy a night out again.
