I really wanted to like this place and keep an open mind since Italian bakeries are few and far between off the East Coast. I got 2 mini cannolis, a Sfogliatelle, a tiramisu, a few Sicilian cookies, a rum baba, a cream puff a lobster tail, and a raspberry twist. I was disappointed not just with the flavor but the quality.
The large cannolis were filled this morning which tells me they were going to be soggy and should have been my first clue. I refuse to order cannolis that aren't filled to order because the shell gets soggy. The smaller cannolis were kind of stale tasting and a huge disappointment but I got them because they just put out while we were standing there and figured they were fresh. The cream puff wasn't flaky at all and was weeping. Yes, we went towards the end of the day but I have my doubts they were baked today. The Sfogliatelle and the lobster tail were chewy and stale, not the rich flaky crust it should be. The raspberry twist wasn't very raspberry at all and again, it was dense and chewy, not light and buttery. The Sicilian cookies weren't bad but not worth the price I paid for them. My older one said the tiramisu was gritty but only ate it because it was pretty expensive.
The woman at the counter was friendly enough I guess, but for what I paid, I should have been hankering for more. Instead, I won't be coming back.
