Where to Eat and Drink on Portland’s Alberta Street

"This Alberta Street food cart is best known for its banh mi, which is available with fillings like pork, chicken, tofu, and fried eggs. For those looking for something with a little less bread, try a bowl available with vermicelli or rice as the base. Complete the meal with a garden roll wrapped in rice paper, or an order of hot wings." - Rebecca Roland, Brooke Jackson-Glidden, Nathan Williams

Google
Once again, another Portland business where you can’t trust the hours. Closed at 6:30 when it says 8. Frustrating everytime it happens

Ben Sourbeer

Google
Where are they getting this bread? Seriously, I might make it my life's goal to have this bread available in my pantry every day. But yeah, the banh mi is real good. Flaky, chewy bread, tasty chicken, crispy veggies. Five stars all day long.

Philip Holmes

Google
Best banh mi and iced coffee in the city. I gave it a perfect 5 even though his hours are seemingly random and he doesn’t answer the phone. I love it so much that it’s a privilege when he actually is there.

Lawrence Miller

Google
Dying to try it, but I have to wait for it to be open first! Came during their posted hours but it was shuttered with no sign indicating when it will reopen.

Cyd Gann

Google
Locally ran food cart, cooks till he is out of food so don't go late or be surprised if he is closed. Food is fabulous, vegetarian options available, outside covered seating only. Call in your order, pick up, and have a beer there. Fantastic food at a good price. Lots of different choices, you really can't go wrong here. Highly recommend

Nicole

Google
Pork bahn mi ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - wish it was spicier Thit bam ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - needed another sauce I think, was dry Vietnamese coffee ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - not too sweet - strong

Andy Ayres

Google
Love me some Dolicious! The BahnMi are great but don't sleep on the bowls and the signatures. I crave the Thit Bam... The owner/chef is a great guy. But it's just him scratch making great food so didn't go expecting a best baguette wait. Grab a beer, people watch, then dig in.

Jorge Mejia

Google
Got lucky and had this once. Delicious bahn mi. However I’ve tried to go 6 times since then and they’re always closed, even thought their hours say they’re open. Figure it out, or update your hours.

Yelp
Every once in a while, I let my husband choose where we eat haha this week, he chose Dolicious. It's a food cart just a few minutes from our place! He got the braised pork and I got the bbq pork bahn mi's. They were both dolicious. The bread was a little soggy on top from the short ride home and I LOVE sauce but I'd probably ask for less or get it on the side next time. The spring rolls were out of this world! Perfectly crispy with their dipping sauce. I almost ate the whole order but decided to share. Great take out spot in the NE area it you are looking for bahn mi's in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Yummy tofu bahn mi! I get it without the maybe to make it vegan :) if they got vegan mayo that would be a plus! But I like this spot, thank you!

Ashley N.

Yelp
We initially went to the popular vietnamese Mémoire cafe right next door, it was 7$ for one single plain waffle. We were so disappointed and started looking for other food. We ran into this food truck and got a banh mi and hot wings. The banh mi was only 8$ and it was so delicious!! The wings were also amazing, really authentic crispy fish sauce wings, and only 12$ for rice, a slaw, and pickled veggies. The owner was a sweet older man and I knew the food would be authentic when he yelled out to me when the food was ready, My friend come here! Definitely coming back again.

Yelp
Dolicious can not be beat in the field of value for you dollar. The sandwiches are cheap and yet some of the best banh mi I've had in Portland.

Shirley C.

Yelp
I was dissatisfied with next doors Vietnamese cafe and saw there was another place next door and this food truck was definitely going to give you the authentic Vietnamese food especially when I saw this sweet older man working. The service I received was wonderful. I ordered a fried egg banh mi and it was delicious! The pricing is affordable and the portion was amazing for the price. The banh mi was stuffed where every bite dropped a few veggies and it was super flavorful for ONLY $8 WITH tip. A must try. Will be coming back again!

Yelp
Yum. Flavorful and inexpensive. What more could you wish for. Great fried egg banh mi and homemade egg rolls.

Yelp
Best spot for banh mis - so cheap too, only $8. Spicy pork is the way to go, but the chicken and lemongrass tofu are good too. The chicken was kind of like a chicken salad style but still good. I prefer asking for a little bit less coleslaw in the sandwiches for the perfect balance of cilantro, meat and crunch and sauce. Also Not closed, just completely irregular hours. So call before making the trip especially if the weather is bad.

Gerald B.

Yelp
This is hands down the best Banh Mi in Portland, maybe even the entire west coast. It boasts the perfect blend of sauce, meat, and crunchy veggies, setting it apart from other Banh Mi spots. The bread is always fresh and crispy, and not too hard. Each bite offers a delightful balance of savory, tangy, and crunchy elements. Whether you're a long-time fan or a newcomer to Banh Mi, this place is a must-visit for a superior sandwich. I go here all the time and it never disappoints. The one person working there is always nice and provides great service. I respect him for his unwavering commitment.

Cheri M.

Yelp
This was the best tofu Bahn mi I have had because the tofu and the sauces were blended so well. Loved the veggie spring rolls too. The kids gobbled them up so fast as they are just the perfect size.

Rachel W.

Yelp
The "garden roll" is the worst fresh roll I've ever had. Dry, unseasoned tofu and romaine lettuce. The banh mi was ok. Service was extremely slow. The African food truck next door is a much better bet.
google avatar

Joshua W.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Always super fresh, affordable, friendly... and SO much better than the other Vietnamese place (which shall remain nameless) across the street. Hot tip, get the pork vermicelli bowl with extra meat (it's only $2 and SO worth it) and extra spicy (it's not crazy, just nice and warm).
google avatar

Nate Q.

Yelp
I finally caught these guys while they were open. When they are, the food is worth it. Since this is a one-person operation, I feel for the businesses trying to survive and bumping up my rating from my previous review. Just make sure to not head there right at opening. You just never know if they are open or closed.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
Yep - these guys are getting the coveted 5 star! Like others have pointed out incredibly tasting food for very cheap! High quality ingredients through and through! I got the chicken rice bowl which was absolutely incredible - tons of vegetables, rice and protein--big portions for just $8 Some days the owner can get a bit swamped at once so prepare to wait up to 1 hour for your food but usually he can get it out there in 30 mins. Trust me--it is worth the wait! Also be prepared to deal with some parking--you'll have to park in the neighborhood and walk on over to the truck if you're driving

Yelp
I try to support small businesses as much as possible, especially this one since Portland doesn't have many Vietnamese street food carts. This one I won't waste my time with anymore. Inconsistent hours, and they don't update their sign or hours online. It's too bad, because the food is amazing but not worth the hassle when Portland has so many other good options.
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
I went here today for a late lunch and it was exactly what I wanted! It was so delicious! I got the vermicelli noodle pork bowl and it came with a side of fresh veggies and sauce. It was an amazing value -- $8 for a large serving of food! It was perfect. The meat was flavorful, the veggies were fresh and crisp, the noodles had a great chew, and the peanuts/crunchy toppings added extra flavor to complete the meal with the sauce. Perfect meal to enjoy on a beautiful day. Thank you!!

Yelp
Okay. I wasn't expecting much to be honest. We were looking for Vietnamese food, found Dolicious and thought we'd give it a try. It was THE BEST DECISION we made! My dad ordered the lemon grass chicken bowl & I ordered the thit bam. This is the ultimate comfort food for a Vietnamese person. After I took a few bites, I told my dad that if I ever had to move to Portland, this would be my go to spot for a comforting bowl of rice. The person at the truck who made it for us also asked if we wanted it spicy. We said yes. He delivered just the right amount. Thank you for making me feel like I was having a home cooked meal at your house, sir!

Yelp
Good here is delicious and hearty. The owner clearly cooks with love, like being served dinner from your grandpa.

Yelp
Best Banh Mi I've had in Portland, so if you can't make it to Banh Mi Huynh Hoa in Saigon, this is the place to go!
google avatar

Kathleen C.

Yelp
This was SO good! Banh mi with pork! Meat was excellent. Bread was very good and not too overpowering. They cut the ends off so you don't just get a chunk of bread to eat. The wings were also very good! It is tossed in this sweet sauce. The "pancakes" was my least favorite of what we ordered, but it was still good, but the other two, I would totally want again!
google avatar

Jen M.

Yelp
I tried the chicken bahn mi, but instead of having the standard carrots, radish, cucumbers, jalapenos, cilantro added to the sandwich, it came with a coleslaw like substance which in itself tasted ok, but made it taste more like a chicken salad sandwich, and also contributed to quick sogginess of the sandwich (and not a good "to go" option, at least in my experience). I also tried the hot wings, which were spicy but I wasn't a fan of the flavor so much. It had too much of a fish sauce flavor to it for my taste and made my stomach feel a bit off.
google avatar

Glade C.

Yelp
Banh Mi! oh My! This is the best of French Colonial cuisine! The sourdough bread is perfect. Not too tough. The vegetables and sauce together is an explosion of flavor and texture. Hot, sweet, tangy, cold, crunchy, chewy, meaty, tofuey, it's all there in each bite. We've tried the tofu and the chicken. Don't be afraid of asking him to cut them up because you are going to want to share a few different kinds with y'peeps while you walk. Also there is a tea there, I forget what it is but it's a perfect dry balance. Dragon something, I forget.

Yelp
I. Love. This. Cart. I've only been here once but it was a worthy meal. It was way back in the summer during the last Last Thursday on Alberta Street. I was hungry and wanted to try something different from my go-to spots. I was tempted to get a banh mi or vermicelli noodles and I went with the latter. I'm so happy I did. It was like $8 and I got a to-go plate full of noodles, vegetables, and pork. I easily could've made it last two meals. There was also a nice spicy kick to it. I need to go back and try the other varieties of Vietnamese deliciousness. Be patient as I believe it's just the owner who makes everything fresh to order. It's oh well worth it.
google avatar

Isabella C.

Yelp
Delicious food and affordable pricing. It's a one man operation and he is very nice and helpful. Highly highly recommend the tofu bahn mi!
google avatar

Melissa F.

Yelp
This place was not delicious but kudos to the hardworkers who keep this truck running in the rain. Note that footlong banh mi really means 9 inches or less.
google avatar

Ricky R.

Yelp
Dope little spot with some crazy food. We came just before they closed and grabbed a bahn mi and some wings. The price was great and the food was awesome. It may have been a mistake to grab wings that late, but they were excellent!! I would definitely go back. The food truck lot they were in had some other great looking stuff too!!
google avatar

Kaitlin K.

Yelp
So so good! Would recommend! I get the chicken bahn mi and it is dope! So glad I found this place.

Nicholas C.

Yelp
Amazing high quality food for a great price would 100% recommend to anyone within driving distance best Vietnamese food I've ever had with great customer service and the guy running it seemed to be an all around great guy would give it 1000/5 stars if i could
google avatar

Dylan P.

Yelp
Dolicious has seriously delicious and affordable food. I've only had their banh mi, but they are so good. I like the chicken banh mi, which is unlike many other banh mi I've had. They put this slaw onto the sandwich that give it a lot of juicy flavor, the meat is well cooked and seasoned, they spread the bread with something creamy, and the bread itself has a perfect texture for banh mi. I work nearby and this is my new lunch go-to considering you can get a huge sandwich for $6. Stop by sometime!
google avatar

Margaux M.

Yelp
I crave this place! Whenever I'm in NE I'll save up my tip money to dine here. It's delicious - there is only one guy working and he is always there. I love supporting small, especially food carts, in the winter. They really need all the help they can get. My go-to dish is the Tofu Vermicelli. It comes with a sweet sauce and it's just to die for. I love this place!
google avatar

Megan R.

Yelp
Great flavorful huge bahn mi. Fast and easy to pick up. Great bang for your buck too, the sandwiches are big!
google avatar

Pavknee M.

Yelp
Delicious is more like it. It's in a small food plaza with a BBQ joint and Haitian food. Affordable, Reasonable wait time (10-15mins). Covered seating outside! We ordered: - 2 spicy pork banh mi: The bread was the best part! The French bread crumbled and crunched. The pork was spicy enough and the sandwich didn't fall apart while you were eating it. Yum! Not overstuffed, so instead of biting into a sandwich that breaks your teeth and all your stuffing falls out- this doesn't happen here. - 1 chicken banh mi: shredded chicken, tasty toppings of shredded coleslaw and sauce. Was well seasoned and flavorful! - 1 tofu banh mi: finger long fried tofu, spongy in the middle, super tasty. Our little one liked dipping her tofu in peanut sauce. - Shrimp garden rolls: Nice generous size, tasty vermicelli and fresh! Could have been someone's whole lunch. If you're not us and order a bazillion things to try everything! We enjoyed it. Super full now. Will roll away like a garden roll down the street on the hunt for Boba for the little lady.

Yelp
delicious, reliable, inexpensive, and the man who owns the cart is so kind!!! truly a staple in portland
google avatar

Charlie T.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try this food cart out and I'm glad that I got the chance to. I wasn't too hungry, so I only ordered the wings. The wings were fried perfectly and had both the crunch and flavors that I expected it to have. I liked that it came with some rice and a little bit of the semi- pickled veggies. It would be better if the wings were a bit bigger. The ones I got were smaller in size. Other than that, the place is pretty good. I will try some of the other stuff next time.
google avatar

Sarah V.

Yelp
Im surprised this place doesn't have more reviews! Some of the best tofu bahn mi Ive ever had. The price is unbelievable given the quality.
google avatar

Ed K.

Yelp
Checked this place out after getting a really nice Japanese knife across the street. Anyway. I ordered the braised pork banh mi and the savory pancakes. The savory pancakes were pretty good if not a little doughy/undercooked ever so slightly. There should be more of the side veggies to go along with, and I thought the value was pretty mediocre. The banh mi had this odd sweetness and the baguette was totally soggy by the time I got home, which was 5 minutes away. Very disappointing... The food was not quick either. I just was expecting a little..ok a lot more from this place. At least the guy running the cart seemed friendly enough.
google avatar

Sara K.

Yelp
Delicious food and excellent service. I go here once a week. Owned and run by the kindest man.
google avatar

Korina M.

Yelp
The food is "Dolicious", the owner is super friendly, and the prices are affordable! Highly recommend this food cart for anyone looking for some tasty Vietnamese street food! I would recommend the banh mi and the spring rolls with sweet chili sauce!

Grace S.

Yelp
I love this place! The bahn mi has a slaw instead of carrots/daikon like i'm used to, but it tastes great especially the braised pork one. The savory pancakes are probably my favorite item in the menu, along with the iced coffee which is strong and perfect. Everything is super cheap, so tip well and be patient, the owner runs it alone and is so kind!
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
I've only been once, but what I had was AMAZING! I had recently been to L.A., and went to Little Saigon. We had these amazing savory shrimp cups/pancakes, and I was wondering if anywhere in Portland did the same dish. Well, Dolicious does! They're these bite sized little cups that have a shrimp on top. You add garnishes, like cilantro, fish sauce, and chili sauce. It's seriously delicious. I don't know if it would be considered enough for a full meal, but it filled me up. I'm heading back sometime soon to try their Bahn mi sandwiches. If it's anything like their shrimp appetizer, it will be great!
google avatar

Lily P.

Yelp
This place is the fucking bomb! Super yummy and best place for a banh mi hands down very delicious indeed will definitely be back for more.
google avatar

Greg H.

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite place to eat in Portland. The banh mi is off the charts. They used to be across from a place I worked and I loved them then as well. Super consistent. 10 stars.
google avatar

Mondo F.

Yelp
Best Bahn Mi in Portland! The bread is crusty, the veg is super fresh and spicy. The roast pork is rich and hearty. It is a completely different experience from the boring, dry Bahn Mi that you get from other places. The savory pancakes and spring rolls are excellent. Service was super fast and courteous. My family loves this place now!
google avatar

Elysia M.

Yelp
These sandwiches are great. MMM my mouth is watering just thinking about them! They are a twist on traditional Banh Mi's that are DOPE. (Make sure you ask them to make it dope!) I can't even describe it. Great marinated meat, delicious pickled veggies, soft, fresh bread. We also got the pork in sweet steamed bun and the meat was really really good, but the steam bun was a little old. you could tell because it was hard and chewy. I probably won't be getting those again, but I will definitely get a sandwich! (They also have vietnamese coffees) Oh, and great price! And they take card.
google avatar

Natasha K.

Yelp
Great food! The man who runs this food truck is so nice. I will be back often for his tofu Banh Mi, fantastic!
google avatar

Mikaela S.

Yelp
2 giant garden rolls with grilled tofu for only 4 bucks???? i must be dreaming! The rolls were so fresh and delicious i kept saying 'i can't belive its only 4 bucks'. I wish i could come here every single day.
google avatar

Jonathan M.

Yelp
I ordered the tofu bowl with vermicelli noodles. The man behind the counter was very nice and prompt. The tofu was prepared amazingly. I honestly feel like this is the best way I've had someone prepare tofu. It meshed so well with the sauce provided and the combination of the fresh veggies and rice noodles made this dish very filling but did not leave me feeling overly stuffed or filled with regret. This is one of the best food experiences I've had in Portland so far.

Joyous S.

Yelp
I wouldn't call the sandwich a bahn mi. My husband used to work in little Saigon and we've eaten many bahn mi sandwiches over the years. IMO a bahn mi should have bread that is crispy outside and soft inside with a balance of pickled vegetables, meat, maybe pate, cilantro and fresh chili. This was a soggy, meat heavy mess. The slaw added nothing and the meat was overly sweet. You can call it a (not very good) sandwich but please don't call it a bahn mi.
google avatar

Brooks M.

Yelp
This couple and this cart are amazing! Hands down the most genuine and adorable service with great portions of food and smashing bahn mi. We also got pork patty rolls OMGatto! Sweet fluffy pork heaven. The fresh rolls are classic great. I had a noodle bowl that had all the great fix'ns and didn't skimp on any ingredients. I am told the savory pancakes are to die for. Think small savory pies with shrimp. mmmmm Prices are good, portions are good, service is amazing and the menu is not daunting or too long. As I continue to say, places that make a few things great are my jam! Don't overwhelm the people with options, give them great and simple! Thank you Dolicious for being amazing. Date tip: Order here and then while you wait for your food walk down to Random order pie and snag pressert! Take it all tot he park with some wine or booch and have a lovely evening fat and happy!
google avatar

Monica A.

Yelp
Tried the pork Banh mi, savory pancakes, and ordered the lemongrass chicken with rice. Everything tasted great except instead of chicken, they gave lemon grass pork. That was a little disappointing since that wasn't my protein of choice. Everything tasted really good and they give you plenty of sauce. The regular dishes had a Nice amount of heat and not spicy. The Banh mi was ordered spicy, and wow... It is spicy but good. I recommend checking your order if it's to go....not after getting in the car and driving home.
