Dolores' 2Street - Review - Dickinson Narrows - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"This Dickinson Narrows deli shop has a steady rotation of sandwiches, like a stacked Italian hoagie or “The Pooh Bear″—a sandwich layered with honey turkey, honey ham, and a honeyed mayo that we’re sure Pooh would abandon his honey jars for. And for non-meat eaters, they have their “The Henry Vegetarian” packed with grilled eggplant, rabe, and roasted peppers." - Candis R. McLean

Wow… just wow… freshest cheesesteak ever. Roll is amazing meat quality is amazing. One of the best cheesesteaks in philly. Flavor is like something I never had before, its like a cheesesteak if we were in Italy.

We were lucky enough to catch this gem on an episode of Kelly Drives and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! We'll definitely be returning when we're in the area. Definitely recommend! I grew up in west Philadelphia so my standards for a hoagie are somewhat high. The first thing my wife said to me was "this is the best hoagie since we moved back to the area". That was in 2019 so we've had our share since. Bottom line: Delicious sandwiches, great people, fast, efficient, and fair priced!

I’m not sure what the sandwich was that I ordered. I showed them a picture someone post here on Google Maps and told them I want this. This place was saved in my places to visit and I must say they delivered what I heard about their sandwich. Highly recommend. Sandwiches are on the pricey side but the taste makes up for it.

Google
The food is absolutely fantastic! We almost gave up because of parking, but if you’re not in a rush, it’s definitely worth the effort. The sandwich came out quickly and is more than enough to share—easily serves two! Just keep in mind there’s no indoor or outdoor seating.

Ordered a hoagie tray for a party. They were a man down and still had me out on time with exactly what I ordered and everything delicious as always. Support some hard working Philadelphians

Google
I just tried "The Pooh Bear" it was amazing. The hoagie was packed and the roll was soft with a nice n crisp shell, from one of the OGs. I didn't even get to snap a Pic for this review. The Gavon and Old Fashioned Italian description looks like it'll be next.

Y'all. I'm telling you. Hear me loud and clear. COME EAT A HOAGIE! I really don't want to tell you much more than that. Follow this restaurant on Instagram for all the latest and greatest specials. The special I had this weekend was the "El Fuego". It is a hoagie that had chicken cutlets coated in Flaming Hot Cheetos. *Alarms go off* Yes, Flaming Hot Cheetos. The hoagie was really well balanced. It was savory, salty, tangy, and just the lightest hint of sweet. There doesn't appear to be a bad hoagie on the list. They are all reasonably priced and this is a mad cute mom and pop. The deli is on the smaller size but they really know how to operate in the space. It's so impressive as the phone rings off the hook.

Google
It's a cute little stop in a nice area, but there's not really any room for sitting in. We had to wait a really long time for our food. It had really good flavor, but it was a little dry. We had the pork loin hoagie and a breakfast sandwich on a bagel. Dinner might be a bit better. Would stop there again to try a cheesesteak maybe

Yelp
Sandwiches both hot and cold are top notch. Scoop the bread, stuff on the side always no bueno. Great spot!

Yelp
I've been here twice now. I've tried a few sandwiches. I'm not usually into vegetarian sandwiches. But I was in the mood for a good eggplant parm sandwich the first time I visited. The Henry is obviously more than that. But the bottom line is this might be one of the most flavorful sandwiches I've had in the city. Every ingredient just zings. That was the 5 star sandwich. The next time I went I brought the family. I went for a chicken parmesan sandwich. My wife went for the chicken cutlet hoagie. My son is a cheesesteak hound so he went for that. Everyone thought it was good. But they also told me that they thought their sandwiches lacked something. My wife thought the chicken cutlet sandwich was good but with all the ingredients she expected more flavor zing to it. She didn't think it had enough. My son thought the cheesesteak was maybe a little too much cheese in proportion to the meat. He gave it a 6.9 out of 10. But he ate most of it. For me, the chicken parmesan sandwich was pretty good. But I think I definitely prefer that Henry.

Yelp
I have heard from my friends who were pregnant that they really craved the hoagies from Dolores and that they're couldn't wait to get to eat deli meat from here. With that sort of reputation and the fact that I am in walking distance from their location, I tried this place out. Checking their instagram for specials and what their hoagies look like is always a good idea! I had their Pooh hoagie and it was amazing. It's pretty much honey ham and honey turkey, American cheese, the works, including honey mustard mayo and fried pickles. I also opted for banana peppers which added some mild heat and greatness. Typical hoagie price and its wonderful quality! Best little deli in the area. Wish I knew about them earlier.

Yelp
And to think that I almost skipped this spot. I was looking for a place nearby to get lunch and found this on Yelp. I found a parking spot right out front and considered it a sign that I should give it a try. I ordered a vegetable sandwich (The Henry) and a corned beef hoagie. The Henry was the clear "winner" here, though that doesn't mean my husband didn't stop and say, "man, that was a delicious hoagie" about the corned beef hoagie several times that evening. The Henry has hearty vegetables (zucchini, eggplant, broccoli rabe) and sharp provolone. It's bursting with flavor and is incredibly satisfying. I'd say it's my favorite sandwich in the city right now. The corned beef was sliced just a bit thicker than some other places, which is a big plus in my opinion. Husband loved everything about it: seeded roll, Swiss cheese, all the fixins. I am sure we'll return to try the hot food items soon!

Yelp
Sandwiches were all great. Will definitely come back often.. Friendly staff and easy to order.

Yelp
This. Place. Is. Unreal. It's robbery the cutlet hoagie is 9.50. It was my favorite sandwich in the city until I tried their Henry X. You can just tell from the first bite so much prep and time goes into each hoagie (sub for long hot Mayo btw)

Yelp
This was our first time getting sandwiches from Dolores. From the service to the food everything was excellent. The chicken cutlet and the BBQ chicken hoagie was one of the best hoagies in Philly. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Instagram, Philly Magazine, and The Inquirer have been buzzing about this corner store so I decided to finally check them out. The chicken cutlet hoagie was very good and on par with Lil' Nicks Deli. Decent roll, fresh vegetables, and large breaded cutlets. I wouldn't put it on the same level as Angelo's of South Philly or Hoagie Dom, but it's understandably hard to compete with such stiff competition. Perhaps if the chicken was juicier, the roll was better, or I got more long hot pepper flavor from the mayo my opinion would be higher. Regardless, it's still a quality hoagie and one I have no hesitation recommending. Bottom Line: A very good hoagie and option if you're craving chicken cutlets and can't get your hands on a Hoagie Dom or Angelo's of South Philly creation. Recommend.

Yelp
I got my usual Cheesesteak with fried onions and mushrooms. Dolores' uses sarcone rolls. I usually think Sarcone rolls are too dense for cheesesteaks but this cheesesteak was wrapped for at least 40 minutes and the roll loosened up nicely. I really liked the mushrooms. The meat is not chopped. I am rethinking mushrooms on not chopped cheesesteaks. I liked the roll, meat and mushrooms individually. Together, not so much but I think that is because the mushrooms have nowhere else to go but on top of the meat. I grew up on chopped cheesesteaks and like everything chopped together. Dolores' pizza steak has me curious but I think I am going back for the breakfast sandwiches.

Yelp
We usually get a regular Italian hoagie, but for the Superbowl, we ordered a hoagie tray. The regular Italians were superb, but so were the chicken cutlet and the roast beef! I'm now going to expand my ordering. Pre-orders are ready on time and the service is awesome. Thanks Dolores-- you're our favorite sandwich spot in a city of great sandwiches!
google avatar

Gigi N.

Yelp
The Henry is, without any exaggeration whatsoever, simply the absolute greatest vegetarian sandwich of all time. Thank you, Dolores!

Yelp
Quite literally my favorite hoagie spot in the city. Family run with great service. Don't miss out.

Yelp
Great food. The staff goes above and beyond and their service is amazing. They always have something new to try and I am looking forward to their dinner menu.

Yelp
Stopped in (finally) and got an Italian hoagie. Loved it! Great Dietz & Watson meats on a freshly baked Sarcone roll. What else could you ask for? Nice people working there and a nice clean spot. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This place is a gem. Consistently great quality sandwiches and delicious every time. We've done pickup with no issues . If you're a hot Cheetos fan, the el fuego is a must try. It's a hot Cheetos crusted chicken with a spicy sauce. Not too spicy in my opinion. The Pooh Bear is also a personal favorite. I am not a huge fan of pickles, but the thinly sliced fried pickles on these sandwiches may just convert me.

Yelp
I have only been here for breakfast but I was not happy with the result. For breakfast Dolores only has egg sandwiches. My egg sandwich (on English muffin, with bacon and swiss cheese) was pretty good. If it had been served open-face on a plate with a fork and knife, it would have been four stars. But it was really hard to eat. The eggs were loose and the sandwich fell apart. Dolores really only does takeout, although they have a few café tables outside. I sat at my little café table trying to eat this loose falling apart egg sandwich and I ended up eating most of it by scooping up loose eggs with my fingers. It was pretty gross. Sorry folks. I wish I could say something nicer. I will come back somtime and try lunch instead.

Yelp
Order from here once a week Favorite hoagie shop in south Philly! Small operation - friendly couple owns it

Yelp
A great addition to the neighborhood. I have gotten half the menu so far and have not been disappointed. The roast pork has such a great flavor - different from some of the other local places. The staff is always friendly and fast and the sandwiches are well priced.

Yelp
Chicken cutlet hoagie. Just go get it. Long hot infused Mayo? So good. Really good spot, and the owners are super nice. They have some creative options but I'm a classic guy, and the classics here are fantastic. The Italian is excellent too, but I dream about the cutlet hoagie.

Yelp
The Henry with long hot Mayo is my fav hoagie in the city! Always friendly and quick service. I go whenever I'm in the neighborhood.

Yelp
We were excited to eat some delicious sandwiches after reading good reviews. We had friends visiting from Ohio and wanted to treat them. We ordered 10 sandwiches, spent a lot of money. The bread on the cheesesteaks was stale, and the chicken on the chicken cheesesteaks was tough and overcooked. The bread on the other sandwiches was different and tasted better. The Henry sandwich was good. Overall A bit disappointing. Will not return.

Yelp
Solid breakfast and lunch sandwiches, favorite is the standard chicken cutlet. Try to call early /ahead for lunch though.

Yelp
Had the veggie hoagie. Best hoagie I've ever had. Wow. Long pepper infused mayo... just wow. Added some balsamic glaze... perfection. Cute shop, well priced

Yelp
We were searching for roast pork sandwiches in Philly after learning that these are more traditional fare than cheesesteak. Delores' came up in our search so we headed there . We ordered the roast pork sandwich with provolone and broccoli rabe at the recommendation of another customer. My son in law said "This is something you can't stop eating until it's done!" The sandwiches were absolutely delicious. Our lunch at Delores'was one of the highlights of our trip to Philly.

Yelp
Sandwiches were decent, but the girl behind the counter was incredibly rude and unwelcoming and couldn't get my simple order correct. The guy making the sandwiches was also very unprofessional, trying to act tough and asking me if i had a problem because of showing frustration with the girl's bad customer service. Will never come back here again as there are many other great sandwich options in South Philly where the staff are actually friendly and professional.

Yelp
Great local place to get breakfast and lunch! Happy to see a new place open in the neighborhood during the pandemic with reasonably priced and delicious eats. I love that they have some corner store basics in case you need to grab eggs, milk, etc. and that they keep expanding their menu. Breakfast sandys are simple but good. Add the the potatoes onions and roasted peppers if you want something more than the classic bacon, egg and cheese. Would recommend calling ahead to order as it took a little longer than expected when I walked up to order, but worth the wait.

Erin O.

Yelp
Great little neighborhood place. Sandwiches are delicious with crispy buns. This is definitely my new go to sandwich place.

Yelp
What a great fabulous place. Simply fabulous food and kind friendly excellent service. A great place to pick up out of this world food. Once you try this wonderful eatery,it will become your "go to place for great food... Come and try this new eatery. .

Yelp
This place is great. A nice family run business close by. Friendly staff. Always a good interaction. They even have a few off-menu items that are soooo delicious. If you stop by, ask for their chocolate covered hotdogs, with jimmies. It may not be sound good, but it is out of this world. They have perfected this in a short time. Best one around.

Sean B.

Yelp
Fantastic local, small business! Great food at a decent price. The staff are also very nice!
