"Dom Joaquim is located next to the Porta de Serpa Pinto, one of the access gates to the historic centre of Évora. The stylish, classic-contemporary ambience here features bare stone walls and a series of hanging sculptures that add a welcoming feel. Chef Joaquim Almeida bases his cuisine on traditional Alentejo cooking with a modern touch. On the menu you’ll find daily specials, traditional and local dishes, plus a selection of “convent”-style pastries and desserts. Make sure you try the “auga de prata” pudding, the recipe for which originates from the Convento de Santa Clara, just a few metres away." - Michelin Inspector

Delicious food and good service. The octopus and the dogfight soup were sublime and the migas with pork was excellent as well.

This restaurant was given high praise by the Rick Steves guidebook as being where he eats when he visits Évora. We went for lunch and loved our meal! Our waiter Andre (young man with glasses), patiently explained the menu specials which were only printed in Portuguese and provided the best service. The roast lamb was particularly outstanding.

The food was very good but a language barrier caused an issue with one of our orders. Something lost in the communication with our server. Server removed a sauce from an order when NO such instructions were given. We simply pointed to the entrees we wanted on the menu.

The only Michelin bib restaurant in Evora, absolutely deserving the recognition. Excellent service. Our waiter was spot on advising the dishes typical for the local cuisine. The mustard and garlic prawns were an absolute highlight of our lunch. Nothing to complain on. We left extremely content. Make sure to book in advance. Seems like a local favorite. No surprise though.

One of the best restaurants to eat in Évora. We had the "Black Pork Pillow", and for dessert the "Pumpkin Sweet with Almond" and the "Golden soup". It blew me away. If want to taste Alentejo typical dishes and delicacies, this is the place. The prices might be a little higher but it's totally worth it.

Despite having a Michelin bib gourmand, I found the food at this restaurant to be very average. We went for lunch on a weekday and right at opening there was just 1 other table in there. After about an hour, it started to get a bit busier with 3 other tables. The service was pretty good, and the restaurant and bathrooms were clean. We were given their regular menu and also the menu of the day. Unfortunately they did not have a lunch menu. The menu of the day was in Portuguese only, so the waiter patiently translated and described each of the dishes. We ended up ordering both mains from the menu of the day and the appetizer from their regular menu. The baked cheese seemed like it could be something I could make at home. It was various cheeses melted together with oregano that came with crispy crostini bread. The lamb chops were simply grilled with garlic and came with a side of homemade chips, vegetables and potatoes. We got 7 pieces total: 3 individual rack pieces and 4 chops. Honestly the taste was very mid with not much char. The pork and clam dish was probably the best dish of the 3. It came with a decent portion of black pork chunks that were mostly tender and not chewy, and a lot of clams. It was topped with fried potatoes, kind of like the ones you'd get at brunch. There was a lot of flavourful sauce at the bottom so it would have been nice to have more potatoes. I felt like for a Michelin bib gourmand restaurant, it would have been better, but overall I was not that impressed. For 2 people, 1 bottle of water, 1 appetizer, and 2 mains came to 47€. Everything was just okay. I don't think I would come again or recommend to others. I had much better Portuguese food on my trip here.

The food was delicious. The service was amazing. The wine was perfect. We had a lovely time. I highly recommend the prawns with garlic and the bife de lombo with mushrooms and bacon. We will definitely come back. Thank you for a great experience!

We just had one of the best lunches in Portugal! Great bottle of Sauvignon blanc, bacalhau and braised lamb! Definitely be ready to dine, enjoy the quaint restaurant and enjoy the wine because your dish will take a while to be served but when you take that first bite you will be pleased!

Yelp
We were in Evora for one night and we found it difficult to find a place to eat that was not so touristy. All the good places were small and booked up. We found this place online and we were able to make a same-day reservation on Google for 2 people at opening, 7 pm. We got there 10 minutes early but they were not open yet so we walked around but it's just surrounded by residential area. When we arrived there were 2 walk-in couples. They were denied service because the place was booked for the night. We got lucky. So definitely make reservations online. Service was extremely good...the waiters plated our food. So, I didn't get to take pictures of the dishes when they first arrived. We got to try several Alentejo dishes and wine such as the migas, sheep's milk soft cheese, Iberian black pork, etc. The food was really good.

Yelp
A great place to dine while in Evora. The service was great, food delish, portions more that ample

Yelp
Excellent food and service. The breaded fresh cod with stuffing inside along with squid and squid ink rice was really creative and delicious and fresh. Vegetable soup was finely puréed and just what I've been craving. Pork cheeks were well stewed in red wine and very soft inside. The chicken with potato in white wine was delicious too. Here's the menu...

Yelp
What a great place to enjoy authentic food from the region and an amazing wine list all local from Alentejo area. We were a group of 3 and came here based on a recommendation from local friend. We were the only tourists in the restaurant and everyone else was local Portuguesas. We started with 3 appetizers to die for: eggs with green garlic, mushroom with ham and amazing shrimp garlic sauce. All rich in flavor and tasty! Then we had as main course Lamb with roasted potatoes! The oil in the plate was rich and amazing with nice corn bread. The other dish was pork chop grilled with a mix of mashed asparagus and bread! So tasty! We had a bold and strong body local wine: Alentejo Pusio 2014!! Amazing smell, tanin/oaky flavor! Excellent mix with such strong flavors like lamb and Pork chop. Highly recommended and affordable price with excellent service (big thanks to our server Paolo who was very helpful and help us to choose)

Yelp
Nice restaurant. Welcoming staff. The bacalhau was extremely salty. Great wines. Wonderful gelato flavor.
