15 Best Sugar Shacks (or Cabanes à Sucre) Near Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Tube sliding and sugar shacking at one of Outaouais’s best spots: What’s not to like? Some Montrealers might balk at the distance, but it’s worth the day trip when considering both the entertainment and the eats. Horse-drawn sleigh rides and a full bar service are paired with family-style menus of classics going from pea soup and oreilles de crises to slices of sugar pie. Many swear by the hot chocolate as well." - JP Karwacki

It was our first time at Domaine de l'Ange-Garden. There is a lot of space for parking, the waivers can be signed when you walk in and the main area is quite large with ample seating to eat your food. The check in reps weren't very friendly unfortunately, and the bartender didn't smile or seem welcoming either. But the tubing was fantastic. It brought out the little kid in all of the adults who took a tube and used the hills. They have an automatic pulley to bring your tube up the hill for the ride. The hills are a safe enough distance/height to have fun but not risk your life hahah. They have horse wagon rides, get your tickets before they run out. Overall, we had a lot of fun. But the welcoming and service could use some work.

We loved it! Tasty food, well organized, fresh ingredients. We came here as a family and we all loved it!! Despite having to serve so many people, everything was fresh! The pancakes were soft and tasty, the maple syrup was fresh, portion size was great and the server did not hold back when we asked for more. They gave us all that we asked for - extra sausage, extra wedges, extra bacon, extra ham, extra everything!

Attended a wedding here. The area is gorgeous especially in fall. The building is extremely well kept, everything is clean and very professionally presented. The food is absolutely fantastic, highly recommend the poutine bar! The staff are absolutely the best part. Everyone was friendly, polite and very helpful, going out of their way to make sure the event was a success and the guests were happy and comfortable. Definitely check out the maple products store, they have frozen pies both savoury and sweet as well as condiments and treats. Can’t say enough good things!!

We graduated on the 18th, and I had to share about our incredible experience at Domaine de l’Ange Gardien, just past Gatineau. We booked the room with a minimum of 80 guests (they also have another that fits up to 120), and it was perfect. Our ceremony took place outside in their beautiful gazebo, and their team set up all of our décor that morning — everything looked flawless. During the day, they went above and beyond — they brought me a fan and even followed me around with a water bottle in case I got thirsty. They anticipated our needs before we even realized we had them. The food was AMAZING — hot, perfectly timed, and everyone raved about it. Not a single complaint all night. Julie and her team are literal angels who took care of us from morning to midnight. If you’re looking for a venue that truly cares and delivers on every detail, Domaine de l’Ange Gardien is it.

What Awesome fun day with family n friends. Clean n friendly service. It is a blast loads of laugh. Pull up rope is a definite plus for children n older peeps. Fresh air n the big set up room where you can bring your own food or chose the restaurant/cafeteria.

Had a beautiful breakfast here. it was tasty and enormous portions. We reserved for 12 o'clock. There was about a 20 minute wait to get our table, but it was definitely worth it. All of the maple things were so tasty. Enjoyed the horse ride. I wish there were a few more interactive activities for the children, it was too warm and the snow tube slide was melted so we didn't really have anything to do on the property

Don’t walk, run to get yourself in before the seasons over. A group of us last minute decided to do a sugar bush breakfast and after reading the reviews, we booked a table online for 2 pm. I cannot believe how GOOD everything was! Our table was ready for our reservation time so we didn’t have to wait at all. I loved the way everything was served family style. We were brought portions of each item share as a group, [including but not pictured sausage, crepes, beans, buns, pea soup] but we had unlimited refills. Our server was very attentive and stayed on top of replenishing everything, including coffee. I mentioned to the server I had a gluten & dairy allergy and she brought me the allergy book, the only thing I could not eat was the buns, crepe & sausage. Which was completely fine as everything else was soo delicious. The price of breakfast included taffy, the men worked super efficiently at making the taffy and were very friendly. We also were well explained how the maple syrup is collected and brewed by one of the younger staff. We appreciated that they spoke to us in English very much. Would definitely recommend and go back !
