"Tenth-generation winemaker Amélie Neau is now the head of Nerleux (its name means black wolves in French) and is responsible for its push toward biodiversity. At the winery in Saumur, she grows classic chenin blanc and cabernet franc grapes, as well as less-common chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, and grolleau on their tuffeau limestone soil. Nerleux makes a mix of everything, from fruity reds to rosés to sparkling crémants, under numerous Saumur appellations. On the property, there is a four-bedroom vacation cottage, as well as tastings and a guided tour with Neau.
