It’s Always Spooky Season at These Haunted Restaurants and Hotels Around Atlanta

"Employees at the Lawrenceville location of this Italian restaurant chain have experienced odd happenings over the years, from lights turning off and on without warning to objects falling from high shelves. Most chalk it up to the trappings of an old building, which was once a hotel. But some folks believe it’s more than that. The building in which the restaurant now resides was featured in a book called “Georgia Spirits and Specters”, which tells tale of a ghost that once haunted the old hotel over a century ago." - Beth McKibben

It was our first time dining at Dominick’s Italian restaurant. We were greeted and seated immediately, Andrew was our waiter and very helpful with our selection from the menu. The Garlic Bread with Cheese and Stuffed mushrooms were very good. Our main courses were very tasty.

Dominick's is a fantastic choice for anyone craving delicious Italian cuisine. The food was excellent, with rich flavors and fresh ingredients in every dish. The serving sizes are impressively large, making it perfect for sharing—one meal is easily enough for two people. The garlic bread was especially delightful, with a perfect balance of crispness and garlic flavor. Celebrating my son's graduation dinner here was a wonderful experience, and we couldn't have been happier with the service and atmosphere. Highly recommend for any special occasion or just a great meal out.

Stopped by to for dinner after viewing the Winter Lantern Festival. This place was fabulous. Just a short 20 minute wait. We sat at the bar and enjoyed stuffed mushrooms. I had the stuffed ravioli and it was delicious. Even a half serving was more than I could finish. I would even consider driving from Central Georgia up to Gwinnett County to eat there.

Google
The Mediterranean tortellini and Chicken tortellini was yummy. Their garlic bread w cheese .. sooo good. Now their Caeser salad isn't the greatest. The dressing taste too much like mayo. Staff was super nice. Definitely will come back.

Google
The food was really awesome, and the atmosphere was very nice. But our server’s (Gracie) attitude was far from pleasant. She appeared to have an attitude whenever we asked for something, and our party was very polite when we spoke to her but her attitude was very off putting. The whole staff was honestly off putting.

The food was amazing. The portions are very large and the atmosphere is great. The service can be better but the overall experience was good.

Google
Pricey, but you get what you pay for. Great quality food, top notch service and a very pleasant dining area. I ordered the spicy chicken/sausage pasta and stuffed mushrooms. Plenty of food on the plate. Also, their expresso martini was the best I have had. No free bread though. That was my only hang up. You can order garlic bread for a modest price.

Google
The only thing we liked about our visit here was the garlic cheese bread. Everything is overpriced and low quality. My husband and I both ordered chicken parm.. and both plates had multiple pieces of burnt chicken that was smothered in pasta/marinara sauce. The sauce was overkill. It was like they were trying to mask the burnt chicken, or make up for lack of flavor. I literally could have made this at home myself, and it would not only look but taste WAY better. Also would have been a lot cheaper! Definitely not worth $20 a plate. It also came with a side of pasta, which I didn’t get a picture of. But it was served in a bowl with a lot of spaghetti noodles and a huge pile of pasta sauce on top. It was near impossible to mix, and not that great. There was a lot of water sitting in the bottom of the bowl. The service wasn’t great either. We sat a long time waiting for someone to service us in between drinks, ordering appetizer, and then finally ordering main course. Everyone seemed busy walking around in/out of the kitchen area, so I can only assume they were short staffed. Not going back. If you do visit, only order the half portions. They are ginormous. My “half” portion of chicken parm came with 2 1/2 huge pieces of burnt chicken.. such a waste.

Yelp
This food was from the devil put me in the hospital for 7 weeks The Service was great The ambiance was good Alfredo 10/10

Yelp
Great service for our family of four for dinner. The restaurant is clean and inviting and the food was excellent with very fresh ingredients. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
This is for their to go. We ordered the chicken carbonara and baked ziti. We picked it up. So bare in mind - we figured the order may be warm and not hot if we were to have ordered in. Got home , and the chicken carbonara was cold....like refrigerator cold and the chicken looked and tasted uncooked and aged. We did not bother to eat it after have one taste of it. The baked ziti wasn't any better but a lot more edible than the chicken carbonara. Although we ultimately discarded BOTH ENTRES. Extremely disappointed as we heard great reviews. I'll never recommend anyone to go to this establishment especially when they put out almost raw and UNCOOKED chicken. I've experienced so much better carbonara and was hoping to add Dominick's to that list. But that's a negative for me.

Yelp
My favorite Italian restaurant in the area! Every time i come here food is fresh, hot, service is amazing. I even came one close to closer and they still sat us! The restaurant reminds me of eating in little Italy in NYC. Old school restaurant vibe with the white table cloths. Nostalgia ultra. I love Dominick's chicken the flavors melt together with the gorgonzola cheese. Also really appreciate the fact that you can order your side of pasta with a different sauce then your meal! Turns it up a notch.

Yelp
What a great place. The ambience and service. The house bread was delicious and served with a bowl of the best marinara I ever tasted. Ordered the chicken Marsala half order which came with your choice of noodle and sauce. I chose fettuccine Alfredo. Everything was delicious and enough for 2 meals. My friend ordered the shrimp Alfredo which was delicious also. Service was fantastic and so was the food. Next time I will order the cheese bread as I hear it is out of this world and worth the $16. Food prices were reasonable especially for the amount of food you get. Definitely on the must visit list!

Emily G.

Yelp
Loved this place! One of the best italian places I have been to! Ordered the calamari and half caesar salad to start. Calamari was perfectly fried and crispy and caesar was a large portion to share for the half order. My friend ordered the pizza and my hubs ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce and I got the chicken carbonara. One of the best carbonaras I have had. You can tell the sauce was homemade and made like a carbonara should. This will be our staple in downtown lawrenceville

Yelp
Come here if you're really hungry. The portion sizes are huge. I love their Caesar salad. The lasagna and the raviolis taste good too. Service is good. Basically I have not had a bad experience here.

Yelp
I've been to this restaurant numerous times back in 2011 to about 2017. The food was good then. So when my sister came to visit fro out of town and was craving Italian food I said "hey get Dominick's". Bad idea. Bc the food was not good at all. She ordered to go, garlic cheese bread- it wasn't cooked all the way, yet all the garlic and cheese was burnt; shrimp scampi-no flavor whatsoever and some of the shrimp was over cooked; chicken Alfredo- there was barely any sauce and the chicken wasn't even seasoned and it was frozen chicken not fresh; calamari- it was ok; Cesar salad- the only good thing. I was so disappointed in the meals. I expected better than this.

Yelp
Food was great! Portions are very generous. The atmosphere was relaxing and nice! Not too loud even though it was crowded! We enjoyed the company and dinner experience.

Yelp
Had a large dinner party at Dominick's in Lawrenceville, GA on November 5, 2023 to celebrate my 80th birthday. It was magnificent! The Manager was very helpful, the staff was ready for us when we arrived, and were all very attentive and professional. The food was all wonderful - and plentiful! We had everything from appetizers, to dessert, with all sorts of beverages and mixed drinks. The private room was very large and comfortable, accommodating 4 generations from the age of 1 year to 80, with all the extra people a family adds over the years, including people who traveled to Georgia from New Jersey for this special occasion. We could not have asked for a better place to hold our gathering! I would highly recommend Dominick's for your next special occasion or casual dinner, no matter how large of small your party is! Yelp
Smell alot of air freshener at tables near windows. Dont sit near windows. Waitress appears very uninterested and didnt get our waters right: 2 waters, no ice and lots of lemon. Garlic bread too oily and seemed honestly like too much butter

Yelp
· Chicken Scallopinni was delicious and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers you can't go wrong and the service was excellent. William was fun and definitely will be back.

Yelp
Lovely little Italian restaurant with old school charm. The food is great, portions are large. The garlic bread is just over the top.

Yelp
I had fun reading all the reviews on here so much so that I had to go to the dinner I was invited to to try Dominick's. Overall the staff is friendly, helpful and fast if you have made reservations on a week day evening. The food was a little over priced for quality, however with that being said the food wasn't bad. Good portion sizes and my friend came with me(her husband is an amazing chef with his own chef company) - she enjoyed her food as well. We ordered multiple dishes and tried each others choices, so we had a fair view of the menu offerings. Will we go back, maybe, but maybe not. There wasn't anything that really stood out to our group of ladies.

Yelp
Service was good but the food is not worth it you're better off going to Olive Garden, my egg plant parm was drowning in tomato sauce, super soggy, the tortellini wasn't cooked all the way through the middle was lukewarm, side pasta tasted like mayonnaise instead of Alfredo sauce and to top it all off the food made us terribly sick afterwards. Cute spot but definitely disappointed in the quality of the food.

Yelp
We had a fantastic experience with the food at the restaurant. Despite the enormous portions, we thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The service was impeccable, with a focus on even the slightest details. The ambiance was just right - not too bright or too dark - and complemented the food and service perfectly. If I had to give a rating, it would definitely be five stars.
google avatar

Jeanine R.

Yelp
While the food is good and the "half-sized" portions are still more than enough, one of our party did not receive her entree until it was time to request to-go boxes for the rest of us on a relatively slow Thursday night. This hampered my enjoyment of what should have been a nice evening out. Those comments aside, years ago Dominick's was one of my first forays into the trend of purchasing bread a la carte, a trend I still don't care for but accept. Their garlic bread with or without cheese is very good. Service was good and there were enough decent wines by the glass to choose from. The strong smell of cleaner in the restaurant was a little distracting.

Yelp
Great service and delicious food. I had the spicy garlic grouper and crème brûlée, and they were both great. The cocktails were all a little on the sweet side for my taste, but I'll just ask for lighter on the mixers next time.

Marcus C.

Yelp
Met awesome friend for lunch get together. Ordered spicy shrimp & italian sausage over angel hair pasta. Asked waitress to have kitchen tone down spiciness. Dish came perfect with a slight spi y edge as desired. Hope you like shrimp as much as I do. Dish loaded with shrimp!

Yelp
It's a hard "no" for me. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing, but the food was awful and I hate that we didnt speak up.i ordered the Alfredo linguine with added chicken, the pasta and sauce was good, while the chicken was dried out/crispy and very tough to eat. We also ordered sausage and linguine that was served in marinara.... The 3 pieces of sausage that was served was not the best texture or taste and the noodles drenched in all of that marinara was the worst. Instead of complaining like I wanted to do, he paid, left and grabbed a pizza. I was just out looking for house made fresh pasta.... This is not it! 2 stars for the great service and Freddy mixed some great drinks.

Yelp
0 stars if I could. Got there to just sit at the bar to have appetizers and drinks before a show. Bartender that was the manager or at least said he was said he would clean off the bar for us to sit. Hostess came up to us and said the manager said the bar was closed. Huh? First red flag. There were 5+ seats open. We take the table and sit down and it just gets worse from here. 20ish minutes go by and we had to go up and ask said manager for a server. Manager sits and watches while we wait a good 5+ minutes for a server to come. We order drinks and proceeded to watch the manager pour our drinks. We aren't far from the bar maybe 30 feet? They sat there for another 5+ minutes. If you already know we're irritated and you have time to wait and watch for a server just bring the drinks over. Do something at least. Order came out fine. Arancini was good. 3 plates brought out for 4 people. We also had to ask for silverware (and then wait another 10 minutes while we shared forks and then another server heard us and brought some). We caught another group walking out saying they weren't coming back, we agree and we see why. Do better guys.

Yelp
Dominick's is probably one of my favorite spots in Downtown Lawrenceville! Their chicken parmigiana is probably the juiciest one I've had in a while. We ordered the chicken parmigiana, and the chicken Alfredo. The parmigiana is served with spaghetti topped with marinara, and mozzarella baked to melty perfection. I can't describe how much I love this dish. The service was outstanding! There was only one server on a full house for lunch time and he still manage to provide excellent costumer service. If you're in the area give this place a try. There's plenty of parking around Downtown.

Yelp
I decided to take my mother out for a birthday dinner and she decided on this place. It's Italian but it looks higher end so it was fitting for her since it was her decision. So I call, make reservations and make sure we can get a table. The bummer of the night was that it was raining and it was a cold rain so that didn't make the drive at night great much less the walk into the restaurant but nonetheless, can't get angry about things you can't control. Upon arrival, they were quick to seat us. The menu options was pretty basic. We saw the pastas dishes, the alcohol list, and the appetizers. We opted for the fried calamari which was actually very pleasant! Fried beautifully to the point where it didn't leave your palate cloy and they gave us a large bowl of marinara dipping sauce. My mom orders their seafood linguine and I opted for their Veal Saltimbocca. Honestly, I can't say I was impressed. The food was very salty and the flavor was lost in much of the pasta because it was masked by the sodium to the point it was barely appetizing. The veal saltimbocca was not my favorite. They fried it first but then it came drowning in the sauce and made it a soggy mess which didn't make it appetizing. The was also prosciutto and mozzarella but for some reason, I only got pockets of the prosciutto which was in fact part of the salt factor which the cheese absorbed making various bites lack balance. The linguine was also pretty salty and it lacked an appeal that we just had to stomach. All in all, can't say I was impressed by this place as everything was salty, unbalanced in flavor, and unfortunately left the palate overwhelmed, and my hard cider couldn't cut through all of that to even things out.

Yelp
I went to Dominick's last night in Lawrenceville,ga I ordered some good bread that starts with an s and had lasagna and my wife had spaghetti and meatballs. Both dishes were great. We had crèmebrule and tiramisu for desert. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood for an Italian dish. The waitress was also very courteous also.

Yelp
Service was great and food was instagrammable but food had no taste. Pretty disappointing

Guinevere T.

Yelp
My son picked Dominicks in Lawrenceville GA for his birthday dinner. I can only say that the service, atmosphere and food were beyond amazing. All the food was excellent and our server was always attentive. Menu items are not cheap; but are reasonably priced. Unless you are extremely hungry get half menu items.

Alexis P.

Yelp
Called beforehand to make sure they had room got seated immediately, with the five of us, service was slow beforehand then when the dinner rush came only two of had our dinner for about 5-8 minutes Ashley was sweet a great waitress she had about 10 table's including us, the chicken Alfredo sauce was non existent, and extremely salty. Only thing i would recommend that I had would be the lemon drop
google avatar

Karla C.

Yelp
I had been here years ago and I want to think the food was pricy but decent. This time around that I went, I was not super happy...food wise. Service was great, from the hostess to our waitress and all in between. All were very nice and attentive. The place itself has an older building charm since its located in Historic Downtown Lawrenceville and that was all fine. I ordered the Veal Piccata and my date the Veal Parmigiana. Both of us like veal and weve had it before but this time, it was not that great. His Veal Parmigiana was decent but mine, the sauce was very runny and bland and the veal itself tasted off. The side dishes of pasta were just ok. Now, I went on Valentine's Day so I dont know if that was a factor. I want to think the place is much better than that day and it was my bad luck with the V-Day rush. I would give it another ago at another time.
google avatar

Maddie G.

Yelp
A few of us made a Friday evening reservation at Dominicks. It was my first time in. Our waitress was very nice but didnt seem to know the menu as well as I think she should have. She took a couple of our questions away and had to come back to the table to answer them afterwards. We ordered the calamari appetizer which was very yummy and a large portion. Caesar salads were watery so I'll skip that in the future. We all enjoyed our entrees though! I had the spinach manicotti (half order is plenty large), my friend had the veal saltimbocca, and boyfriend had the crab cakes with angel hair. Pricing was reasonable and all food and drinks came out quickly.

H P.

Yelp
Incredibly lazy staff. Would rather be on phone texting instead of helping customers.

Robby M.

Yelp
Great portion sizes, good food. Better then any Italian chain restaurant, sticks with classics and has a good old school vibe. Never had a bad server.

Jan C.

Yelp
Good service but the food was disappointing. The lasagna was huge but tasteless and stuffed pork chop was tough.
google avatar

Kelly T.

Yelp
Very good. We arrived early and without a reservation but were seated immediately. Our server was so friendly and efficient. The eggplant Parmesan is delicious! The half serving is plenty, and I was even able to take some of it home. The complimentary bread served was warm and soft. My friend enjoyed the chicken piccata, which also was a large half serving. The atmosphere here is nice. It's a popular place based on the number of tables filled while we were there. An excellent choice when dining in downtown Lawrenceville. Tip: Check in on Yelp and get 15% off.
google avatar

Annabel W.

Yelp
If you have big boys to feed, this is a place to take them! Portions are huge! Everything is delicious. My husband and I typically share a whole order and still end up bringing home leftovers. If I get the half order I also end up bringing home leftovers. They are very generous with their meals. A great location to have a nice family meal.
google avatar

Cathy P.

Yelp
Imagine my excitement to find out that Dominik's had a location in the cute downtown area of Lawrenceville. I've gone to the Norcross site but it just wasn't convenient to get there. The restaurant looks new and large enough to hold lots of patrons. We went early on a Saturday evening to avoid the wait. Started with some wine and calamari. I thought the calamari was tender and generous in portion, we really enjoyed starting our evening this way. I had ordered the lasagna and was all the comfort you could imagine this would be. Their marinara sauce is amazing and the balance of all the ingredients makes me wish I could steal the recipe for my own. I see mixed reviews about this place but our service and meal were excellent and I would plan to go back and even recommend it to friends.

AJ C.

Yelp
It's said how this place had gone down. The food was literally tasteless and the veal tasted bad. Manager did not care. The waitress was sweet and attentive but the place is truly lacking. Don't waste your money or time.
google avatar

Luna P.

Yelp
Over priced. Food not that good. Provinos is much better. If you are going to have high prices you should have fresh parmigiana cheese and fresh ground pepper. Not worth what we paid. Also, no spimoni. Bread should be cut up. Made a mess trying to cut it into smaller pieces.
google avatar

Linda B.

Yelp
My Sorors went there and had rave reviews about the food and service. The group was large after attending the Aurora Theater presentation of Shirley Chisholm at the new facility. They said it's an excellent restaurant for a family affair

James B.

Yelp
For the food a rating of 4 is appropriate. For the service I give a rating of 2 as the best and I can give and I struggle to give that. No bread was offered until asked for. I asked if olive oil was an option and she said this is not a true Italian place. She gave service to the table next to me offering water and checking to see how the appetizers were. We had appetizers yet she did not come back until they were gone and still never asked. She walked past us several time and filled water glass late into the meal. Call it lack of experiences but this is no Luciano's. A step up from Olive Garden in my opinion.

Yelp
I have driven past this restaurant MANY times while driving through downtown Lawrenceville. I had also read nice reviews about Dominick's then another point of reference ... one of my husband's coworkers highly recommended that we try this Italian eatery. Well, on a rainy Thursday evening while driving through downtown on our way home we did just that! Dominick's curb appeal is great and once you enter the ambiance does not disappoint either. You are then warmly greeted at the door by a hostess and by the manager, Dana (behind the bar). Dana's huge smile is infectious... it makes you feel very welcomed. We were promptly seated and greeted again by another attentive staff member, our server Adrienne. She was definitely one of the best servers we've ever experienced from the west to east coast! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and recommendations. She did not steer us wrong. Now for the foooood! A must try is their famous Italian Bread Stick (make sure you get it with cheese and a side of marinara). A half order was enough for the both of us and let me tell ya' ... absolutely to die for!!! The eggplant parmigiana, angel hair pasta with pesto, pasta with Italian sausage and meat balls were all delicioso!! The only problem is that even with a half order on these entrees you won't be able to eat it all! Then came dessert .... I love my cannolis (large Italian community in San Diego where I grew up). These were the real deal cannolis... not too sweet, pinch of cinnamon, dotted with chocolate chips then drizzled with melted chocolate! My, my, my! My hubby ordered the NY cheesecake drizzled with raspberry sauce .... use your taste bud sensory imagination! Yum! Dominick's has a full bar, private dining for private groups, is a great place for a romantic dinner for two, casual and family dining ... great for any occasion. Highly recommended!

Rebekah B.

Yelp
Garlic bread is beyond amazing! Maybe the best I've ever had. Everything else was NOT GOOD. AT ALL. Everything tasted like it came out of cans and jars and some of the flavor pairings made no sense. My fish was supposed to be grouper and I'm quite certain it was tilapia. Two stars for the bread and the waitstaff.
google avatar

L G.

Yelp
Me and my family have eaten here many times and it's always been great. The service has been pleasant and we've always enjoyed the food.

Joyce W.

Yelp
New to the area and I have walked pass this restaurant many times, decided to try. All the tables were full so I sat at the bar and Dana was the best! Friendly and upbeat even though she was getting slammed with drink orders. When the waiters and waitress came to the bar to place their drink orders they were all very friendly. When my order of lasagne came.....out I could not believe the portion size. There was enough for a family of four and they would probably have leftovers. Dana suggested the meat balls and they are the best tasting meat balls, ya gotta try them! Great atmosphere, great food and drinks, definitely going back soon!

Yelp
Love this place. Upscale without being pricey. Think family Italian meets hipster. Like Maggianos but better with a broader menu and reasonable portions. And a lot cozier and more intimate. Tell the chef to go easy on the dressing as he drowned our salad. Ugh. Parking can be challenging as you have to park on the street.

Yelp
I have been jonesing for veal parm for a long time. I grew up in Chicago and Italian food is mother's milk to me. I do all of the cooking at home, but finding veal cutlets is very difficult. And then I hear about Domick's. I look up the menu and see they have veal parm. I make reservations and my wife and I show up at the appointed hour. Seated right away, but service is slow, very slow. No worries, we are in no hurry, crowded restaurants on a week night are a good sign. We place our orders, and it takes forever. Again, that's okay. You're busy, hopefully cooking from scratch and crafting a fine meal. I'm just enjoying being with my wife. The food comes out. I take a few bites. It's good. Good CHICKEN parm. No server to be found. Finally get up to track him down. "They might have cooked the wrong meal, or I might have picked up the wrong plate". Tells me they'll cook another meal. No! I'm not waiting another 30-45 minutes so I can eat my entree long after my wife has finished hers. I might give them another try. I'm a forgiving guy and I've heard good things. But it's a big "might". Oh, would have been nice for a manager or owner to come by the table and at least say, "sorry".

Jimmy A.

Yelp
The food here isn't necessarily top-tier Italian food for the money you pay, but it's very satisfying. And let me tell you, I had Pasta with Bolognese and sausage-that sausage...the minute it hit my palette I was brought back to being a kid in Northern Jersey eating at a dark authentic Italian place with sausages made with love and care. The service was speedy and Malia took great care of us.

LaShun P.

Yelp
I stand corrected! The general manager reached out personally to address my concerns. She was very apologetic and appeared to genuinely care about Dominicks reputation and standard of excellence. She offered to make things right and we accepted. Dinner (Family of 6- Caesar Salad, full-size Spicy Chicken and Sausage Casserole Pasta, full-size Shrimp Pasta dish I couldn't find on the menu that the kids loved, and Bread) was delicious and exactly what we have come to expect from Dominicks. Customer service is everything and it is clear that the General Manager understands this! Thank you! (Sorry I forgot to get pictures.)

Yelp
I took my husband here for Fathers Day. I Tried to make reservations but Open Table didn't take them and no one answered the phone , so we went down there when they opened at 4:30 pm and told that you had to have a reservation or wait until 7pm. Since my husband really wanted to eat there we ordered take out. What a waste of good money. The cheese garlic bread had no cheese on it, the Cesar salad dressing had no taste , the shrimp scampi had absolutely no flavor. I think they forgot the sauce. Maybe they are having issues with staff. The food used to be really good. So disappointed
