Domino’s Is Opening a Pizza Restaurant in Downtown Austin - Eater Austin

"Out of all the potential pizzerias that could open in downtown Austin, it’s a location of pizza chain Domino’s. The 311 West 5th Street restaurant is taking over the space vacated by upscale downtown cafe and travel agency Departure Lounge right next to Republic Square Park. It’s currently scheduled to open before the end of the year, tentatively the day after Christmas on Wednesday, December 26. A key component to the downtown Domino’s is the fact that it will include electric bicycle delivery, instead of cars. A large portion of the West 5th space is dedicated to the bike garage. The delivery area will span for ten blocks, from I-35 to Lamar Boulevard and the Colorado River to 11th Street. Domino’s Austin franchisee Mark Marshall wanted to open a downtown location because it had been tricky getting to the neighborhood for deliveries. Marshall already operates several Domino’s locations in Austin since 1996. Along with delivery, the downtown Domino’s will include carry-out and dine-in options. There will be three four-top booths, and additional seating might be added later. The menu will be the same as the usual Domino’s menu: from all sorts of pizza, chicken and chicken wings, sandwiches, pasta, pieces of bread (cheesy, garlic), to desserts. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m." - Nadia Chaudhury

I've been a daily customer at this location, and have never had an issue until last night! The Manager on shift said her name was "Robert" but I believe she was lying. I ordered online and came into the establishment to pick up my order, I was greeted with a stare, as if I was supposed to say something, as my order was prepared and given to me, I sat at the table and ate my meal.... I then began to not feel so well, layed my head down, and at that moment the manager started banging on the glass to wake up and leave, talking to me with absolute prejudice and hostile treatment. I responded by purchasing a soda and asking her name. When I asked for her name she said"why"? I told her I was leaving a Google review, she then began being loud and rude. Her behavior needs to be confronted. I paid not only for my food but the experience as well which was very poor and needs attention. Food was good, poor service.

I had a highly disappointing customer experience at this Domino's location, which was surprising as a long-time Austin resident. The delivery driver initially went to the wrong address, and when I contacted the store to resolve the issue, the cashier not only failed to assist but also attempted to place the blame on me. Despite my effort to update my contact information and wait downstairs to expedite the delivery process, the driver still went to an incorrect address on a neighboring block. Instead of offering a solution, the cashier directed me to walk to Salvation Pizza, even though the correct address was 48 East Ave. After arriving at the suggested location and calling again, I was informed that the driver had eventually located the correct address. This lack of coordination and accountability made for an extremely frustrating experience. I would recommend considering other options if you plan to order from Domino's.

Five stars! They were the only place that we could get to deliver to us after 9pm (without waiting an hour plus) and it arrived quickly! We ordered Dr. Pepper, Garlic Dipping Sauce, and 2 12" pizzas. One with mushroom and green peppers, the other with pineapple. Everything in our order was cooked correctly and not missing any detail. We were staying in a nearby hotel and they delivered straight to our door. The delivery driver was very pleasant. Thank you for being open and delivering at all hours!

I am writing to express my disappointment with the customer service I received at your location at 311 W 5th St, Austin, TX 78701. When my friends and I requested the bathroom keys, the employee’s response was not only inappropriate but also appeared to be racially biased. Within a few minutes, the same employee handed the keys to other customers without any issue. This kind of treatment is unacceptable and needs to be addressed immediately. I hope you take this matter seriously and ensure that all customers are treated equally and with respect. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The staff is SO RUDE! I am never eating at this Domino’s again after today or even at Domino’s at all. I am not going to pay for people to treat me this way. It’s unbelievable that they have people this rude working in there. Even the guy taking our order got upset when we tried to ask him any questions about the food.

Two words: Class & Integrity. I’ve been eating Domino’s since I was a young child. But never have I separated the brand from the building, until now. The workers at this Domino’s are just special. Consistently taste, fast delivery, and perfect craftsmanship. Thank you Domino’s, DT ATX. See you next slice, - Carter
