"Once you eat from Dom’s, a takeaway spot on Hackney Road, you’ll realise that the chain-that-shall-not-be-named is not the best way to get your sub fix. There’s the L’Italiano loaded with bresaola, coppa, provolone, mortadella, and more. There’s The Grapow, a Thai-inspired sub that caused us to almost unintentionally amputate our right (sandwich-gripping) thumb. "Dom’s Subs makes killer sandwiches with an Argos catalogue amount of filling. The insides range from mortadella, bresaola, and more cold cuts, to Thai ground chicken, or tenderstem broccoli with confit garlic. The vehicle is a freshly baked, soft but crisp sub and together, you have a handful of the best kind. "Dom’s Subs’ festive menu tends to read like a leftovers enthusiast who's been under the tutelage of Heston Blumenthal and Dr. Emmett Brown. The Hackney and City sandwich shop has got three offerings. One that’s packed with turkey, brie, stuffing mayo, red cabbage, spicy cranberry, and festive tomatoes. Another with seitan mock duck, an intriguing spicy peanut butter mince pie sauce, plus pickled veg and coriander. The third is a Yule Hog Tres: slow-roasted pork shoulder, roast pineapple, peanut and cumin mole, and queso fresca." - jake missing

Dom’s Subs are coming out of Lanark Coffee on the Hackney Road and they’re the best thing to happen to east London since people non-ironically wore Playstation controllers around their necks. Expect generous fillings - from mortadella, bresaola, and more cold cuts, to brisket with cheese whiz, or tenderstem broccoli with confit garlic, and other marinated vegetables. "“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. But all bread and no filling makes me positively murderous. There’s no such danger when ordering from Dom’s Subs, because these sandwiches would muffle even the loudest screams. In fact, if my kitchen could ‘shine’ then the memories of subs past would show multiple former (crime) scenes. It always starts with two twin-like halves of a sandwich, and ends with bits of bresaola on the table, or red drops of salsa on the floor. More than once I’ve channeled Jack, tap, tap, tapping away before the doorbell goes and I tear down the stairs and hurtle towards the door.
