National City Restaurants to Visit | Eater San Diego

"The taco might be the most famous Mexican corn vessel, but the marquee gordita — a nixtamal disk sliced and stuffed with stews — gets the spotlight all to herself at Gorditas Don Andres. Fillings range from modest beans and cheese all the way to dark moles and fatty chicharron with nopales." - Mario A. Cortez

The food was good and the service was friendly. We ordered a steak torta and a quesoburrito. You can park in the back and enter through the back entrance. Prices were not bad but seem to have gone up consistently over the past few years compared to previous photos of the menu. Good place overall though so give them a try!

This restaurant has changed names. No longer Don Andres #3. Food is MUCH better now. Still looks the same inside. Highly recommend for Mexican takeout. Steak fajita dinner can easily feed 2.

Nice looking, clean restaurant. Service was very good. I went maybe a half hour before closing so my review is based on that. The food overall was excellent but my beans were very dry and I suspect it's because they've been there all day. Next time I'll go much earlier and I'll compare. I do recommend.

I am so impressed by the authentic flavors this little hole in wall brings, definitely family owned and operated and they are all very sweet, but the food speaks volumes... try the quesabirrias and burritos 🌯 you won't regret it!

On my way for the 10th time in a month and a half getting their birra tacos. Right now…. Literally driving as I leave this review. I AM ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED. Good horchata and tamale too. Staff is super polite. Will try to update the other photos Update, I did the birra burrito 100/10

Nice little place with good food. Had the chimi, which was solid, but the menu said it included beans in the burrito, which it did not. I would have had the enchilada, but no molle in house. Great Guacamole

Food 3 Stars: There really was no flavor to the meat, which is the dominate thing in the burrito. It tastes like someone heated the chicken on the grill without adding any seasoning at all. The burrito comes with lettuce and tomato but you really couldn't taste either once they were combined in the burrito shell with the meat. If there is cheese added, I couldn't taste it. They do give you a pretty decent size burrito which is what led me to giving this place 3 Stars instead of 2. Service 3 Stars: After taking my order and delivering the food, I never saw the waiter again until it was time to pay. Atmosphere 3 Stars: the ambiance is pretty much a basic Mexican restaurant. I'm not sure if the central air is working but I was building up a sweat eating the burrito. If they do have central air they definitely need to turn it up a notch.
