"A diversity of cuisine awaits those willing to venture off Ocean Avenue in Long Branch, and your first stop should be Don Beto’s. The Salvadoran counter-service restaurant specializes in pupusas, which come stuffed with everything from loroco, an edible flower from Central America, to beans and cheese. Wash it all down with an enormous cup of house-made horchata or tamarind juice." - Marion Brewer

Very friendly staff, and easy to order. I love small restaurant with great food and this place fits the exact criteria. Been going here for years and the food has never disappointed. I think every person should come in and try this place because it never disappoints. Best pupusas on the Jersey shore.

First time visit. I live authentic ethnic food. I placed an order over the phone and picked up on my lunchbreak. Inexpensive and tasty.

A friend of mine had gotten food from here and it was good. I decided to go there myself. Unfortunately if you don't know Spanish, you're out of luck communicating to order. The staff there pull faces at you and roll their eyes if you ask for a menu, have questions about the food or ask if they have pictures of the dishes. I was Very uncomfortable. I just left and got food from somewhere else. I'm sure if you speak Spanish or perhaps a better staff person was working you'll enjoy it. They have parking and street. You can eat outside and there's a few seats inside. I really wanted to have a good experience here. It's really not about the Spanish and English barrier, it's more about the rudeness of the staff. I've been in many situations where people don't all speak the one language and no one was a being mean. If you're in the area, you could go there, their food is good.

I ordered one order of pupusas of rice and a order of revueltas. They gave me two orders of rice that i did not ask for. the red sauce was watery too. bad service. but good horchata.

Yelp
Pupuseria that doesn't disappoint. Get the pupusa de loroco and thank me later. Pupusas are the specialty of El Salvador and are truly a national treasure. Don Beto's in Long Branch, happens to excel at them. Perfectly doughy, cheesey, and crispy. Don't forget to smother your pupusa with curtido (spicy cabbage slaw) and the red sauce (salsa roja). You eat it with your hands, too, so get ready to get messy.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place and it just called out to us, it looked just like the sort of spot that would make high quality, homemade food. So glad we did. They make some delicious papusas and horchata. We got loroco and pork and loved them both, especially the fresh cheese and unique flavor of the loroco. A typical order comes with 4, but I asked for one of each, and they kindly obliged. Tastes very homemade / freshly made, and the accompanying cabbage salsa and tomato/pepper sauce condiments were a nice contrast. The horchata also seemed fresh and very refreshing. And the service was so kind! My Spanish is very basic but they were very sweet and patient, and geniunely seemed excited to help. Mucho gusto, and hope to have the opportunity to come back soon!

Yelp

Yelp
Great food at great prices . It's like street food . Great papusas. Black beans . But not vegan.

Yelp
I am not too familiar with Latin American food so I decided to try this place during work. I tried their chicken and cheese Pupusas which is El Salvador's national dish and it was really good. Definitely will come here again to try other dishes they offer. Don't be afraid if you can't speak Spanish either, they definitely were very happy to see someone new trying their cuisine and they have English speakers there as well.

Yelp
Amazing food. Loved the pupusas and beef soup. Fresh, hot, tastes like Salvadoran home cooking.

Yelp
Very authentic, large portions and super tasty. Know that if you order the chicken soup you get a massive piece of chicken so it is best as a meal not appetizer.

Yelp
excellent pupusas prepared with care, walking distance from the beach. I have visited El Salvador these are very good! lots of outdoor seating and limited indoor seating. they have a menu of various Salvadorean dishes, i only tried the pupusas but they get an A. there is a TV . reasonable prices. they have KolaShampan La Cascada.

Mia B.

Yelp
The pupusas were amazing! The staff was wonderful and very friendly. I ordered the ones with queso y espinaca o loroco. Their drinks were super refreshing too. It's a great place to stop by after a day at the beach.

Craig M.

Yelp
Excellent pupusas. I felt like I was back in El Salvador. Very kind and generous people at Don Beto. We will be back!

Yelp

Yelp
Great spot in Long Branch. The pupusas are excellent as are the soups. There are several fresh juices to choose from, all excellent, and the horchata is spectacular. Friendly staff, nice owners. Excellent place to stop by for traditional Salvadoran cuisine.

Muriel G.

Yelp
Don Beto's has the best pupusas and you cannot beat the price. If you are a true Salvadorean and what something else. They have that too.
