I love small taco shops and this one ranks as one of the best. The salsa selection is the most I’ve ever seen (I’ve never been given 4 different types of salsa) and their tacos are fresh and completely authentic. Will for sure be back

I’ve been coming to Don Chon for over a year and I love this place! Really delicious al pastor taco, carne asada, enchiladas verdes, and house-made salsa. In full transparency the ventilation isn’t great, so if you dine in you’ll leave smelling like food. Totally worth it though.

Very underwhelming. I decided to order Mexican food via UberEATS. Maybe that's where I made a mistake, doing take out. Some food you just cannot do take out and get the experience or the flavor that you were expecting. I ordered two veggie tacos, two shrimp tacos, three Birria tacos, and rice and beans. Everything was packaged nicely. It came with the condiments and such they usually come with these dishes however the tacos itself had zero flavor or seasoning. I was waiting for the flavors to bloom in my mouth and it just didn't happen. I didn't taste the onions, garlic, cilantro or other seasonings. It just didn't happen for me. I was disappointed which is rare. The portion size in these tacos was a bit light as well. They barely had any filling in them. I went through the plate within like 5 minutes honestly. It is a no-go for me.

I stopped in for lunch, ordered 2 Bierra tacos for $6. $3 each and im still starving!! They could have used a little more season the gravy and tacos didn't have much flavor. I'll go back to try the sandwich I saw someone else order but won't do tacos again. The best thing was the sauce that came with cucumbers, it was so good I dipped the radishes and ate those too! Love that it's walking distance from my job. Small spot but cute, gives you an authentic feel.

We were looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant in Atlanta, and this place was spot on. The place is very simple, but very tidy and the food is absolutely delicious. The service is amazing. They make you feel welcome.

We stopped by here on our way to the airport and the food was delicious. Authentic mexican food. Chips and 4 types of salsa COMPLIMENTARY were amazing! I tried 4 tacos, birria (amazing, cheesy, flavorful) barbacoa, shrimp and asada. They were all very delicious. I really loved them all and I am not easy on my ratings when it comes to mexican food! Definitely recommend trying this small business!

Not one, not two but three roaches, baby ones at that. I ordered by food to go and the babies came out to play while I was waiting in the dining area. Needless to say I asked for a refund to which she wasn't surprised. Trying Zubi's next...stay tuned.

This is my absolute favorite authentic Mexican greasy spoon. It's a small quaint location with a wide variety of menu items and the best Carne asada tacos I've ever had. The appetizers are a little different from the traditional chips and salsa, the offer fresh cucumber, radishes and lime with your choice of 4 sauces for dipping. Chips and salsa are available too though. I've come here at least 2x a month. Great little gem in Hapeville, check them out!

Incredible tacos and some of the best sauces served with the tortilla chips. Don Chon and Birria tacos are hands down the best tacos I've ever had! Must visit place any time your near ATL and definitely worth the trip if you're not

I had their chicken tamale for the first time. And it was ok. I wish they used dark meat instead of white so it was pretty dry

One of my favorite taquerias in the Hapeville area. Very casual. And everything is always quick and delicious. We typically grab to-go (and they wrap everything up well, so that there's no spills or dimished quality). but it's also nice and chill when you sit down to dine. I enjoy Taqueria Don Chon very much, and I highly recommend them for dine-in and take-out.

Carnitas tacos!!! Crack OMG!! 5 stars. They put love in taste and presentation. A must go!

Always been my favorite Taco spot, but I guess the service is only good when the owner is there. I always know what I want never a need for a menu, my food came out before I received chips and sauce (bought out old chips). It was one family of five preparing to leave and me and a friend just got there, our server was overwhelmed and all over the place. She doesn't speak to good english and much older, me personally I don't think she should be working alone, she took so long to bring me the receipt I ended up walking up to the counter to pay and she tells me to hold on and proceed to take a group of 6 people order that were dining in. I paid and had change back she took the money and said thank you and didn't come back. I had $10 extra to give her but I guess she was to busy...unfortunately if she's there I will go somewhere else. They now have outside seating and also did a little renovation.

Nope!!!... This place ain't hitting on nothing... My birria and shrimp tacos were completely tasteless!!.. Bae's steak quesadilla "supreme" was short on meat and bland... The journey for good food continues!!!

Ok now. Hidden little spot in Hapeville, GA. Little spot with big flavor. I wasn't hungry. But my greedy self saw it...well inparked in front of it to go to the Natural Health store next door. I couldn't miss it this time lol. Well curious self walks in ask for menu. Ordered 2 tacos. 1 Asada (steak) and 1 Barbacoa (lamb). He said about 15 minutes. While I waited observation mode took effect. Small sitting area almost full. May hold about 30 people at once. Couldn't tell what everyone had But I saw a big bowl of soup that looked good...he said it was Shrimp soup. Yep. I'm coming back for that. Tables had dipping trays I guess for a variety of salsas to accompany their meals. While fried fish tilapia platter passed by. Now, they cook everything to order. Fresh vegetables being cut and tossed in pans. Wow! I ate both of my tacos in my car. Lime, radish and cucumbers were on my plate and tomatillo salsa. Good fresh and hot. Right balance of cilantro and onions on tacos. Folks were coming in so apparently this place is the spot! I'll be back soon.

Went to check this place out since colleagues recommended this and the reviews. Highly disappointed and won't return. From the moment we walked in to the empty restaurant on Friday excoted to try these tacos, we seemed a bother. We placed two separate orders, when getting home the orders were in the wrong containers, so why write the orders on the containers? Asked if we wanted onions and cilantro on them, only onions not one leaf of cilantro. I ordered a side of queso, wasn't there. Does Birroa come with a dipping sauce, we were told yes, but didn't find that in our order at all. Overall sub par service, sub par food! Definitely a no for me, and I've had street tacos all over the states. Don't waste your time. So dissatisfied with the service, food and taste.

This is definitely one of those hole in the wall spots you might miss if your driving too fast . When i tell you the flavors here are insane ! This food was so authentic and tasty I am having a hard time deciding what i want to try next. Very small inside but the flavors are Huge!!

Food Service Open late on Friday & Saturday Get the tamales if they're available, anything with Carnitas is going to be outstanding! Be patient it's all cooked to order.

The food was sooooo good! The food was served to us fairly quickly. We got there during lunch time so it was pretty busy. This isn't a big restaurant but well worth it to go try the food. The place is clean from what I was able to see. Also, it's not super expensive. I will definitely be back!

The food is always amazing. Been eating here since 2017 and has never had a bad experience. What's crazy is after I met my wife I realized she been there before. Oh and they don't charge way too much for tacos like every other place is doing now.

Food wise, this place is 4 stars. Everything was good but nothing amazing. Also it's really expensive for an "authentic" Mexican restaurant. I ordered the carne asada burrito and my husband got the chicken/steak fajitas. We both enjoyed our meals. The salsas were disappointing. None of them were good. We're from LA so we were really hoping to have amazing Mexican food. I should have given it ZERO stars, because the lady behind the counter working was extremely rude to my husband. When asked for extra salsas, she cut him off and said there was already salsas with our order. Then my husband said "yes but can I get extra?" And her response was "I already told you there was some in your order!!" RUDE RUDE RUDE! Parking is limited out front

Barbacoa Taco, Birria Tacos, Chicken Shrimp Tacos, Quesadilla, Horchata. Authentic Mexican food. Hidden little spot in Hapeville, Ga. When I walked in I was happy to see it was clean and organized. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Smelled so good like I had walked into a friend's kitchen. Ordered my food to go but would definitely dine in. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Best tacos in Atlanta. I enjoy going later at night and they are open till late which is rare. Definitely eat in and they give you chips with an assortment of salsas!

They have to update the prices, because you look at one price on the menu and pay a higher one, and the tip when paying is already included, probably I will back , food is kind ok

The best thing about this place was the service from the cashier. Very friendly and really trying to do a great job The food was very underwhelming. Not much flavor at all. rice and beans was mushy and tasted just plain wack. The tacos were extremely basic. I ordered on the phone and then arrived 20 mins later, only to have to wait for the order to be made at that moment.

Best tacos you'll ever have! My husband and I had the churrizzo, burria, steak and lamb tacos and we absolutely loved it and ate our little hearts out the service is awesome even when I'm usually taking it back to work but dining in today was a special treat

Definitely a hole in the wall. So don't expect anything fancy . The customer wasn't bad. But you definitely have to track down the waitress. But the tacos where great!! And they are open late.

maybe it's just me .... Idk but this is just my opinion. The service is 0 stars, sorry. I've been to other taquerias and the service compared is MID at best. The food is good (I had a steak burrito) however it's the worlds smallest burrito for $12. I guess I should have stuck with the tacks like everybody else .

This is our go-to spot for late night food. Working late shifts, we order from Don Chon often because it's one of the only restaurants open in this part of Atlanta and the food is always good. These are easily some of the best tacos I've had in Georgia. The locals know it too, so sometimes the wait can be around 30 min-- make sure to call ahead. They have a variety of menu options ranging from classic, delicious tacos to wings. My favorite part is they supply home-made salsa that is super delicious. Another feature to make sure you get is their aguas frescas and Mexican and US sodas. The restaurant is really unassuming on the outside and parking is almost nonexistent, so be aware of that.

It would be nice if the person taking your order could understand all English! Asking for simple things she could understand then started trying to communicate with me in Spanish! SMH! The food was not good enough for me to return. I was just trying to order a to-go-order and she was bringing me chips and salsa I clearly said to go she just stood there looking at me just sad.

We took a chance on Don Chon after reading a variety of mixed reviews. The parking is very limited, just like every other business in this area. The place is small and there was one lady cooking and one lady taking orders. The dining area wasn't the cleanest, with the walls falling apart and damaged furniture. The server came by with chips, 3 types of salsa, and some fresh snacks. My colleague ordered the rice milk (I believe) and he hated it. He actually gave it back to her and she just laughed. We each ordered 3 different tacos and they arrived 5-10 minutes later. They are your average traditional/authentic Mexican tacos. You pick the protein and they add cilantro and onions. The tacos were decent and reasonably priced. After we finished, we sat there and never saw our server again. We eventually just went to the counter to pay. Overall, easy spot for a quick bite but I doubt we'd go out of our way to come here.

Small traditional real Mexican food. Highly recommended and great service. I highly recommend the Quesadilla Supreme and the Tacos. They also have good horchata.

Absolutely the best Mexican food I've had in ATL. I read a comment of someone moving from Cali and struggling to find good Mexican food and I'm right there w them. But this place was so good we are already planning a trip back to ATL.

Great tacos, i think they were around $4 / per so pretty standard in terms of pricing. They're open late and great for a late flight arrival. Biggest knock is that parking is shared with like 5 other businesses and there's prolly around like 10 spots in total

The service was horrible. Waitress was throwing plates at us almost spilled my food on me. I don't mind paying for good food but this was expensive and gross. If i could leave no stars i would. Don't waste your money here

Horrible service got there it was empty there was only one person working the front the girl taking other people's orders we got there first I understand it was hectic but at least have a system don't just take anyone's order. Plus she was on the phone taking someone else's order while trying to take ours that's so disrespectful. Plus the food was okay not the best. Meat was burnt. Our food finally came but 45 way too late will not come back ever ever ....

I have been coming here since Don Chon opened. As a family run business, they started small with just enough to start the business. It has prospered and they are improving the e. The divey atmosphere has been replaced with authentic Mexican decorations and improvements have been made to the furnishings. Don Chon is still an awesome experience.

My favorite place for authentic tacos nothing big nothing major not a flip book of menus. Tacos, menudo, pazole that's it. Place is hidden very small. Don't expect something like your typical Tex-mex. it's open kitchen real tacos. Plus it's apart of a growing hapeville. Prices aren't bad. Menudo was $12 and each taco varied. 4 tripa tacos code me $9. Though one thing just one! The young server was a tad bit rude. We asked for a menu and she said there was not one all they have is what's on the board. Another guest also asked and she sat down at the booth next to guest either cleaning or eating. And kitchen told her they were out of steak for one of the other customers so rather her get up to personally tell the table she still sat at the table and said excuse me we are out of steak what do you want hello we are out of steak what else would you want and the customer was like well I guess it's either chicken or shrimp. But over all everyone else was nice. I didn't get my tortillas for my soup and she never came back to check on us.

Great little hole in the wall. Pick up some to go for my Cuban friend who suggested we drive back down the 45miles one way to have dinner. Great food very authentic.

We are working in Atlanta for a couple of weeks and had to work on a Sunday. We pasted by here several times before, but had no time to stop. So we decided to try it. We all ordered fajitas and tacos. The staff is very friendly and the food was great. We will be returning before we leave. Small place with a big taste. If you have the chance.... I have an update to this review... I feel a scam was pulled on me here. We went a second time and parked in behind the building in the 2 hour parking. The lady who waited on us receives a phone call and tells me I have to park elsewhere or I will be booted. She shows me a picture where to park and I move my vehicle. I return into the restaurant and a lady from the next business comes over and tells me I am getting a boot put on my vehicle. I go back outside and find that my vehicle has been booted and the guy who did it is sitting there waiting on me. Mind you, it has been less than 10 minutes. It cost me $75 to get the boot removed. When I return to the restaurant the lady who waited on us says, "sorry". I feel she and the guy had a scam going. I may be wrong, but it was strange. The food was still excellent, but a $20 meal became a $95 meal. That is why 3 stars

I came here on a Friday night and it was pretty empty. I was there for an early dinner so that might be why. There were a few parking spots in the front, but plenty in the back. I was here for the street tacos so I got straight to the point. I sat at one of the booth tables since no one else was there and there was plenty of other seating. I tried both the asada and pastor. They came with your traditional onions and cilantro. The pastor ones added grilled pineapple, which I picked out. The tacos were small, but good. The meat was not over-seasoned and the green avocado sauce and lime they provided completed the meal. A bit pricey for what you get at $2.50 per taco. The horchata I got was large and also filling.

I loveeeeee this place! A hidden gem in Hapeville and it's open late on the weekends. The best quesadillas and tacos hands down. My favorite taco is el pastor and the chicken is so flavorful. All of the workers are so polite. The Mexican coke is always a plus! My go to Mexican spot

The tacos are the best I've had to date! Very flavorful, meats cooked right and juicy and not dry even the fish! We had the Al pastor, Asada, Birria, Barbacoa, Carnitas, Tilapia, Don Chon Special (3 meat) tacos. Paired with Mango Agua Fresca and Hibiscus Agua Fresca, finished off with a rich Flan and creamy Tres Leches! Yes it's a hole in the wall but delicious, yes parking is very limited but worth the walk if need be, yes their staff isn't huge but ask politely and they will happily do as requested.
